Bernadine 'Dena' Stokes
TYLER - Bernadine "Dena" Stokes, 83, of Tyler died Saturday, April 5, 2003, in Tyler.
A native of Temple, she lived in Tyler for 35 years and was a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School and Port Arthur Business College. She was a homemaker and member of Pollard United Methodist Church, Amaryllis Garden Club and Willow Brook Country Club. She was also president of Newcomers Club in Midland and Fort Worth and a volunteer at St. Frances Hospital in Tulsa.
Services will be at 10 a.m. at Lloyd James Funeral Home in Tyler with the Rev. Dow Harleston officiating. Burial will be at Cathedral in the Pines under the direction of the funeral home. Visitation will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Survivors include her husband, Joe D. Stokes Jr. of Tyler; two sons, Joe Daniels III and John David Stokes, both of Austin; one brother, B.C. Brady of Paint Rock; one sister, Elizabeth Trahan of Nederland; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to charity of choice.
Brianna Strada
Graveside services for Brianna Strada, five months, of Port Arthur, will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Babyland in Greenlawn Memorial Park with the Rev. Jimmy Bourgeois officiating. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home.
She died Friday, April 4, 2003, at her home.
Alta Beasley
Services for Alta Beasley, 89, of Port Arthur, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
She died Friday, Feb. 14, 2003, at Park Place Medical Center.
Jean Estelle Carter
Services for Jean Estelle Carter, 61, of Port Arthur, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Gabriel Funeral Home. Burial will be at Live Oak Cemetery under the direction of the funeral home. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
She died Monday, Feb. 10, 2003, at her home.
Johnnie Maxine Casmire
Johnnie Maxine Casmire, 65, of Port Arthur, died Thursday, Feb. 13, 2003, at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital.
A native of Leesville, La., and resident of Port Arthur, she was a retired nurse and worked for Area Home Health Agencies. She was also a member of Central Church of the Nazarene.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Central Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Clyde Carey officiating. Entombment will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park with arrangements by Hannah Funeral Home. The Wake will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Survivors include four daughters, Prunella Daniels of Beaumont, Maxine Williams and Rhonda Jones, both of Port Arthur, and Rosalyn Porter of Houston; three sons, Ellis Coles of Beaumont, Brian Coles and Chris Coles, both of Port Arthur; two sisters, Amanda Kennerson of Beaumont and Ora Smith of Port Arthur; four brothers, Orlean Nabors and John Nabors Jr., both of Port Arthur, Ruben Nabors of Beaumont and Percell Nabors of Houston; 16 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Richard 'Dick' Elliott
NEDERLAND - Richard "Dick" Elliott, 69, of Nederland, died Saturday, Feb. 15, 2003, at Doctors Hospital in Groves.
Arrangements are pending with Broussard's Mortuary in Nederland.
Clifford L. Fruge
Clifford L. Fruge, 82, of Beauxart Gardens, died Friday, Feb. 14, 2003, at a private health care facility in Port Arthur.
A native of Estherwood, La., he lived in the Nederland area since 1945 and was retired from Gulf States Utilities in Port Arthur as a supervisor with 30 years of service. He also served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Broussard's Mortuary in Nederland with the Rev. Vernon Drummon officiating. Military graveside services will be at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches. The Rosary will be at 6 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary.
Survivors include his daughter, Mary Fruge of San Antonio; three brothers, Percy Fruge of Jennings, La., Edward Fruge of Gretna, La., and E.J. Badeaux of Port Arthur; one sister, Blanch Stotts of Bossier City; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Howell Gordon
Howell Gordon, 87, of Port Arthur, died Thursday, Feb. 13, 2003, at Christus St. Mary Hospital.
A native of Hemphill and resident of Port Arthur, he was a retired timber mill worker.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Macedonia Cemetery in Hemphill with the Rev. Patrick Charles officiating with arrangements by Hannah Funeral Home.
Survivors include one son, James Gordon of Houston; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Margaret W. Goutierez
LEAGUE CITY - Services for Margaret W. Goutierez, 96, of League City, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home with the Rev. Kenneth Greig officiating. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 12 to 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
She died Friday, Feb. 14, 2003, at Clear Lake Medical Center.
