Katherine 'Kat' Jacobs
NEDERLAND - Katherine "Kat" Jacobs, 49, of Nederland died Monday, Aug. 6, 2001, at Mid-Jefferson Hospital in Nederland.
A native of Port Arthur, she was a lifelong resident of Nederland. She was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Nederland.
A mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Nederland with the Rev. Dan Malain officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches under the direction of Broussard's Mortuary in Nederland. A scriptural rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
Survivors include her husband Jim; two daughters, Stephanie Jacobs and Stacy Jacobs-Litynesky, both of Nederland; one son, Steven Jacobs Jr. of Nederland; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Raleigh J. Simon of Nederland; her grandmother, Ethel Crawford of Abbeville, La.; five sisters, Sharlyn Spell of Nederland, Jackie Kibodeaux of Jacksonville, Fla., Karen Savoie of Nederland, Carol Worthy of Orangefield, and Laurie LeDoux of Port Neches; three brothers, Joey Simon of Nederland, Kevin Simon of Kountze and Mark Simon of Nederland; and one grandchild.
James D. Jamison
GROVES - James D. Jamison, 88, of Groves died Monday, Aug. 6, 2001, at Christus St. Mary's Hospital.
A native of Emporia, Kan., he was a resident of Port Arthur since 1942. He was a retried electrician with IBEW Local No. 479. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Port Arthur, the church choir. He was also a past president and member of Lakeview Lions Club.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church in Port Arthur with the Rev. Jim Dammon officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Church Mausoleum in Iota, La. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Iota, La.
Survivors include his wife Mavis; one sister, Mary Holloway of Selma, Ore.; and three nieces.
Odean Duke Martin
BUNA - Odean Duke Martin, 78, of Buna died Sunday, Aug. 5, 2001, at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.
A native and lifelong resident of Orange, he was a retired workshop coordinator for Orange County Association for Retarded Children, a member of the Ninth and Elm Church of Christ, and the Keenagers at the church, a Red Cross Volunteer at Memorial Hermann Baptist Orange Hospital, and a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Claybar Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Fayette City Cemetery in Fayette, Ala. at a later date. Visitation will be at 5 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home
Survivors include one daughter, Debbie Wells of Buna; two grandchildren; one stepdaughter, Sommer Roy of Austin; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Flaudie Kilingworth of Fayette, Ala.; two brothers, Johnnie Duke of Valpariso, Fla. and Ernest Duke of Montgomery, Ala.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Keenagers of Ninth and Elm Church of Christ.
Francis Cecile 'Nannie' Romano
ORANGE - Francis Cecile "Nannie" Romano, 88, of Orange died Sunday, Aug. 5, 200l, at DuBuis Hospital in Beaumont.
A native of Lake Charles, La, she was a lifelong resident of the Orange area. She was a homemaker. She worked for Consolidated Steel during the war effort. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
A mass of Christian burial will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Orange with the Rev. Joseph Daleo officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be at 5 p.m. Tuesday at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. A Christian vigil service will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Survivors include one sister, Betsy Minaldi of Nederland; and one adopted son, Roy Mazzagate II of Orange.
Rosa Lee Salvagio
Services for Rosa Lee Salvagio, 85, of Port Arthur will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Catherine's Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home.
Survivors include a sister, Nancy Nicholas of Port Arthur; 19 nieces and nephews; and 27 great-nieces and nephews.
She died Sunday, Aug. 5, 2001, in Port Arthur.
Emma 'Jean' Simon
Emma "Jean" Simon, 56, of Port Arthur died Monday, Aug. 6, 2001, at her home.

Cynthia Price Whigham
NEDERLAND - Memorial services for Cynthia Price Whigham, 40, service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at The Angelus Funeral Home in San Antonio. Visitation is from 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesday at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home.
She died Saturday, Aug. 4, 2001, at her home.

BRIDGE CITY - Bettie Joy Jordan Bernard, 72, of Bridge City died Sunday, June 3, 2001, at her home.
A native of Port Arthur, she lived in Port Arthur for 60 years and lived in Bridge City for 12 years. She was a homemaker and member of St. Henry Catholic Church.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Henry Catholic Church in Bridge City with the Rev. Jim McClintock officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from 5 to 10 p.m. Tuesday at Claybar Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Survivors include her husband, Johnal Bernard of Bridge City; four sons, Johnal Bernard II of Port Arthur, Robin Bernard of Bridge City, Jeffrey Bernard of Midlothian, and Jay Bernard of Nederland; two daughters, Julie Choate of Groves, and Jean Jackson of Bridge City; two sisters, Beverly Lowenstein of Austin, and Charlotte Jordan of Beaumont; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
