Lillian Mae Crow
GROVES - Lillian Mae Crow, 74, of Groves, Texas passed away on Wednesday morning, April 7, 2004 at Doctors Hospital in Groves.
She was born in Beaumont, Texas on June 16, 1929 to William C. Saxon and Hattie Verboom Saxon. Lillian has been a resident of Port Arthur/Groves area since 1933. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Port Arthur.
Visitation will be on Friday evening from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Clayton Thompson funeral Home. Funeral Services will be on Saturday, April 10, 2004, at 2:00 P.M. from Clayton Thompson Funeral Home with Rev. Timothy Dinger, officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Winnie, Texas.
She is survived by her husband, Richard Crow of Groves, Texas; her daughters, Lillian Young of Groves, Texas, Darla Richardson of Houston, Texas, Mary Wagner of Groves, Texas and Rika Weinrich of Kingswood, Texas; her sons, Gerrit Achord of Winnie, Texas and Preston Achord of Port Arthur, Texas; her 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Jewell Dowden
NEDERLAND - Jewell Dowden, 95, of Nederland, died Thursday, April 8, 2004 at Mid-Jefferson Hospital in Nederland.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Saturday, April 10, 2004 at Broussard's in Nederland with Rev. Clarence Powell officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Nederland. A gathering of family and friends will be from 5 to 8 pm on Friday evening at the mortuary.
Mrs. Dowden was a native of Hollis, Oklahoma and lived in Nederland since 1928. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church in Nederland. She was also a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy.
Mrs. Dowden was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Dowden and her son, Bill Bess; she is survived by her two daughters, Bernice Elgar and husband David of Port Neches, and Carolyn Jamail and husband Bob of Spring; five sons, Jim Dowden and wife Margaret of Nederland, Wayne Dowden and wife Myrtle of Nederland, Jerry Dowden and wife Patty of Nederland, Ralph Dowden of Katy, and Walter Russell Dowden and wife Lenora of Hamilton, Montana; twenty six grandchildren, thirty-eight great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Frank Gioviale
ORANGE - Frank Gioviale, "Mr. G", 90, of Orange, Texas died Saturday, October 14, 2006 at his home. He was born on November 15, 1915 in Beaumont, Texas to Leandro Gioviale and Lula Marion Gioviale. He was a lifelong resident of this area and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Port Neches. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. "Mr. G", as he was known by his students, was a teacher and a band director for 30 years with the Port Neches-Groves Independent School District. It was during his time as a band director at the high school that he intiated the school fight song "Cherokee" and the traditional marching "I". He was also instrumental in developing the Indianette Drill Team. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 17, 2006 at Levingston Funeral Home in Port Neches. Reverend Rob Fisher of the First United Methodist Church in Orange will be officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Bluff Memorial Park. Visitation for family and friends will be Monday evening, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home. He is survived by one daughter, Sandra Hoke and husband Michael of Orange, Texas; two grandchildren, Robert Hoke and Julia Hoke; and a great-granddaughter, Kate Boyle. Mr. Gioviale was preceded in death by his wife, Julia "Tillie" Gioviale; daughter, Ruth Gioviale; and son, Danny Gioviale.
Geneva "Chappy" Chapman
NEDERLAND - Geneva "Chappy" Chapman, 81, of Nederland, went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, October 11 2006 at the Gulf Health Care in Port Arthur. Funeral service will be 3:00 P.M. Sunday, October 16, 2006 at First Assembly of God of Nederland, 2024 Nederland Avenue with Reverend Danny Cheney officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Nederland. A gathering of family and friends will be Saturday evening from 5-8 PM at the mortuary. Mrs. Chapman was a native of Quilan, Texas and moved to Nederland in 1947. She was a cornerstone of First Assembly of God of Nederland, and was also very active in her church serving the Lord all of her life. Chappy was the owner of Chappy's Beauty Salon and a saleslady of Luzier Products. Geneva was of loving wife, a good mother, a wonderful grandmother, and the best sister and friend to everyone. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Tommy Chapman. Geneva is survived by her son, Thomas Edwin Chapman and Linda Tippett of Nederland; grandson, Christian Thomas Chapman of Nederland; sisters, Eileen Smith of Nederland, and Elenor Ross of Quilan, Texas; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Watkins S. Peyton, Sr.
GROVES - Watkins S. Peyton, Sr., 88 of Groves, Texas, died Saturday, October 21, 2006 at a private nursing care facility in Nederland, Texas. A private burial service for Mr. Peyton was held at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches with family attending, under the direction of Broussard's Mortuary in Nederland. Watkins was retired from Texaco, where he was a supervisor in the case and package division. He also served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII as 1st Sgt. with the 65th Signal Battalion-Company A, and was a longtime member of the Masonic Cosmopolitan Lodge #872. He was preceded in death by his son, W.S. Peyton, Jr.; sister, Dixie LeDoux; and brother, Jesse D. Peyton, Jr. Surviving Mr. Peyton are his daughters, Dot Peyton of Nederland, Texas and Carole Peyton of Victoria, Texas; loving daughter-in-law; Jeri Peyton of Goldsboro, NC; six grandchildren, Clay Holyfield, Tracy Robinson Jones, Jim Robinson, Lynn Peyton Norris, Shawn Peyton, Melissa Peyton Jordan; and fifteen great-grandchildren.
Josephine Broussard-Adams
Josephine Broussard-Adams, 79, died peacefully at Dubuis Hospital in Port Arthur at 3:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 19, 2006 from Alzheimer disease. First born daughter of Italian Immigrants Joseph Leone and Margaret Palermo Leone of Palermo, Sicily on January 12, 1927. She remained a life-long resident of Port Arthur, Texas.
She is preceded in death by her husband Jack J. Broussard, the father of her children, second husband Jay Eslay Adams and son Ronald (Bruce) P. Broussard owner of Bruce's Construction, Beaumont, Texas. She is survived by her children Linda S. Broussard-Nunez and husband J. A. (Tony) Nunez of Port Arthur, Raymond J. Broussard and wife Christy Broussard of Nederland and Roland J. Broussard and life partner Gene Serra of Hollywood, Florida and six grandchildren, Mrs. Shawna Thompson of Depew, Oklahoma, Ms. Carrie Broussard of Houston, Ryan Broussard of Nederland, Ashley Broussard of Beaumont, Cody Broussard of Austin, Paige Broussard of Beaumont, six great-grandchildren, Randa, Cassidy, Hayden and Sydney Thompson of Depew, Oklahoma and Greenly Broussard of Beaumont and Aries Broussard of Austin. One sister, Mary Frances Hampton and husband Paul Hampton of Nederland. Aunt Fene Pampolina of Groves and three sister-in-laws, Eve Dartez of Port Arthur, Betty Voiland of Nederland and Eve Roam of Kaplan, La.
She was currently residing at Gulf Health Care Nursing Home of the past three years. She was a devoted Catholic and life long member of St. James Catholic Church in Port Arthur. She was a master cook of Italian and Cajun Cuisine. She was employed for a short time at Dryden's of Groves and spent most of her life devoted to being our dearest Mother, devoted Wife and Grandmother. She was also a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary in Port Arthur. A viewing will be held at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday evening with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Peter Catholic Church at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 21, 2006 with burial to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Cemetery in Port Arthur.
Jacob Frank Anderson
GROVES - Jacob Frank Anderson, Infant son of Cammy Mirabella and Donnie Anderson of Groves, Texas passed away at UTMB in Galveston on Monday, October 16, 2006.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, October 21, 2006 at Babyland in Greenlawm Memorial Park with Msgr. Kenneth Greig, officiating. He is survived by his parents, brothers, Issac and Luke Anderson of Groves, his grandparents, Dale Mirabella and the late Cheryl Mirabella of Groves, Robbie and Ronnie Anderson of Groves and great-grandmother, Rose Moonan of Groves, Texas.
Rose Mary Sam
PORT ARTHUR - Rose Mary Sam, 47 of Port Arthur, TX, departed this life on Oct. 11, 2006 at the Texas Medical Center after a lengthy illness. Funeral Services are today, Oct. 21st, 2006 at New Jerusalem Baptist Church. The wake will be from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM with services following at 11:00 AM. Burial will be held at Live Oak Cemetery.
She is survived by her loving and devoted children, Chimira Howard and Johnny Sam of Port Arthur, TX; three grandchildren, Autumn Howard and Anthony Jones of Port Arthur, TX, Casey Sam of Houston, TX; one son-in-law, James Howard; one brother, Patrick Sam; five sisters, Nazy Louis, Carolyn Simpson, Ida Simpson, and Phillozia Francis of Port Arthur, and Freda Simpson of Dallas, TX.
Arline Conner Pickney "Nookie"
On March 28, 2008 our beloved Arline "Nookie" Conner Pickney transitioned from earth to her eternal home. A native of Jeanerette, Louisiana, she was a resident of Port Arthur for 64 years and a founding member of the Gayette Civic & Social Club.
Preceded in death by a daughter, Myra E. Antoine, she is survived by a son, Dexter B. Antoine and two daughters, Consuella Harrison and Rhonda Conner; grandsons, Willard Harrison, Jr. (Tia), Troy Harrison, and Braelon Limbrick; a special granddaughter who delightfully brightened each day Maya Flax; two great- grandsons; her sister, Rose Mathews of Galveston, Texas; sister-in-law, Maude Conner of New Iberia, Louisiana; a special companion, Murphy Pickney, Sr.; several dedicated nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives and friends. The family extends a special thanks to the ICU staff at St. Mary's Hospital and Mable Credit, provider with Texas Home Health.
A visitation is scheduled for April 2, 2008, from 9am-11:00 at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. Home going services will begin at 11:00am with the Reverend Donald Ray Frank, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Gabriel Funeral Home.
Edward "Buddy" Arnold Bodin
PORT ARTHUR - Edward "Buddy" Arnold Bodin, 68, of Port Arthur, Texas passed away on Monday, March 24, 2008 at his home.
He was born in Port Arthur, Texas on July 5, 1939 to Leslie Mae Williams Bodin and George Joseph Bodin.
Buddy was a self employed professional glass cleaner for over 40 years, he worked all over the Golden Triangle area for several business establishments.
Visitation will be on Friday, March 28, 2008 from 5 P.M. to 8 P.M. at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 29, 2008 in the Thompson Memorial Chapel at Clayton Thompson with Rev. Cliff Rucker, officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Buddy is survived by his son Chris Bodin of Orange, Texas, his sister Martha Davis of Nederland, Texas, his brothers Francis Bodin and Robert Bodin both of Port Arthur, Texas along with numerous nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews.
