Doris Joseph Gary
Doris Joseph Gary, 90, of Conroe, Texas passed away on Monday, March 24, 2008 at Almost Home Personal Care in Conroe. He was born August 19, 1917 to Eliza Dore Gary and Valcourt Gary.
Doris served in the U. S. Army during WWII, where he was involved in the landing at Normandy, recipient of the Purple Heart and Bronze Star.
He was a resident of Port Arthur for over 70 years before moving to Conroe to be closer to his family.
He retired from the Texas Company (Texaco) as an operator after over 30 years of service.
A gathering of friends and family will be on Friday, March 28, 2008 from 1 P.M. to 3 P.M. at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 3 P.M. in the Clayton Memorial Chapel at Clayton Thompson. Entombment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
Doris was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Marie Gary, who passed away March 2007, his step-daughter Patsy Chauvin, as well as his parents and all twelve of his siblings. He is survived by his daughter Gwen Stanley and her husband Greg of Willis, Texas, grandchildren Rebecca Stanley, Jonell Chauvin and Tammy Colicci along with great-grandchildren Natasha, Danny, Anthony, Patty and Preston.

Wilmont Clyde Jones
GROVES - Wilmont Clyde Jones, 80, of Groves, Texas passed away October 14, 2006. He was born April 15, 1926, in Beaumont, Texas to the late Daniel Richard and Lillie Pate Jones. He was a Mason and a World War II veteran. He was a member of the Watson Chapel Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Ola B. White Jones of Groves; son, Michael Ray Jones of Groves; daughter, Gail Holcomb of Port Arthur; brother, Vernon "Baby" Jones of Kirbyville; 5 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in deah by his parents; brother, Edwin Jones; sister, Minette Jones Davis; and a grandson, Trace Holcomb. Visitation will be Monday, October 16th, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home in Nederland. Services will be Tuesday, October 17th at 10:00 a.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, with Rev. Mellvin "Harrison" Romero
PORT ARTHUR - Mr. Mellvin Romero, 75, of Port Arthur passed away on Friday, October 13, 2006 at Medical Center of Southeast Texas. He was a native of Patouville, Louisiana; born on July 9, 1931 to parents Harry Joseph Romero and Virginia Ann Broussard Romero. He served his country in the 82nd Airborne in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a fireman for the city of Port Arthur in the 60's and he worked at Quantum Chemical for 27 years until retirement. He had lived most of his life in Port Arthur, was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, was a member of parish councils, and the Knight of Columbus. He was preceded in death by his wife Nona Louise Romero; sisters, Inez Henson and Elsie Brennan. He is survived by his son, Jeffrey Swain of Hillsboro, TX, Harrison Romero of Avalon, TX, John Romero of Clarksville, TN, Tim Romero of Port Neches, TX; daughter, Virginia "Jenny" Deville of Birmingham, AL; brother, Rivers Romero of Port Arthur; sisters, Shirley Martin of Port Arthur, Cecile LeBlue of Lake Charles, Beverly Gaspard of Lake Charles, Agnes Ardoin of Lake Charles, Arlene Franklin of Port Neches; grandchildren; Kevin Swain, Nathan Swain, Nona Swain, Todd Gray, Tommy Deville, Renee` Ingram, Andrew Romero, Brian Romero, John Romero, Nichole Romero, Cesar Romero, Bryce Romero, Baylee Romero; great-grandchildren, Preston Swain, Cheyenne Swain, Austin Swain, Aidan Deville, Hailey Ingram; sister-in-law, Barbara Salazar of Bridge City. Joseph Anthony Myers
SUMMERVILLE - Joseph Anthony Myers, 76, of Summerville, Georgia, formerly of Groves, Texas passed away Saturday, October 7, 2006 in Rome, Georgia.
Joseph was born in Port Arthur, Texas on August 10, 1930 to Wilfred John Myers and Agnes Genevieve Conners Myers. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving with the United States Marine Corps and the United States Marine Corps Reserves, retiring after 30 years of service at the rank of Sergeant Major. He was the recipient of the Purple Heart for wounds recieved during combat. He has been associated with Gulf Oil as a tinner supervisor for 37 years prior to his retirement.
He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, October 12, 2006 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Reverend J.C. Coon officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Levingston Funeral Home in Groves. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 11, 2006 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A Rosary service will be conducted by Deacon Jim Gard at 7:00 p.m.
Harvie Edwin Ritchie
PORT ARTHUR - Harvie Ritchie, age 91, passed away peacefully on October 6, 2006 at Oak Grove Nursing Home. He was born on March 1, 1915, in Nathall, Mississippi to Osee and Gussie Ritchie. He lived in Port Arthur for 40 years. Harvie retired from the Port Arthur Fire Department where he served as a fire Captain for many years. He was a member of Central Baptist Church of Port Arthur. A gathering of friends and family will be Monday October 9, 2006 from 5 - 7 p.m. at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. Funeral service will be Tuesday, October 10, 2006 at 10 a.m. at Clayton Thompson Chapel with Rev. Phil Sigman officiating. Intombment will follow at Oak Bluff Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Drury Ritchie of Port Arthur; daughter, Drury Heilmann of Groves; sons, Phillip Muckelrath of Bridge City, Billie Ray Ritchie of Leddieville, Louisiana, and Charles Edwin Ritchie of Sulphur, Louisiana. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 3 great - great-grandchildren.
Rose Aimee Prejean
NEDERLAND - Rose Aimee Prejean, 83, died October 7, 2006 at her residence in Nederland, Texas. She was born November 28, 1923 in Carencro, Louisiana to the late Clesmae and Marie Mouton Dugas. Rose lived in Nederland for 58 years. She was a long time member of the Ladies Altar Society of the St. Charles Catholic Church in Nederland. She is survived by her husband, Cleopha Prejean Jr. of 64 years; 3 daughters, Mary Alice Hunter of Houston, Mary Ann Bellow of Frisco, and Theresa Rose Jordan of Missouri City; 10 grandchildren; and 15 1/2 (one on the way) great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; and 2 brothers, Stanley and Lee Dugas. A rosary will be recited Monday, October 9th at 7:00 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home. Services will be Tuesday, October 10th 10:00 a.m. at St. Charles Catholic Church in Nederland, Father Dan Malain officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Bluff Cemetery in Port Neches. Relis Stelly
GROVES - Relis Stelly, age 78, passed away peacefully at his home in Groves on October 7, 2006. He was born December 25, 1927 in Abbeville, Louisiana to Ora and Elmire Stelly. He lived in Groves for 55 years. Relis retired from the heavy equipment dept. of Gulf Oil after 27 years of service. He also was a bailiff for Judge Gerson for many years. Relis also served our country in the U.S. Army during WWII. A gathering of friends and family will be Monday, October 9, 2006 from 5 - 9 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves, with a rosary recited by Homer Comeaux at 7 PM. A Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, October 10, 2006 at 2 PM, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Groves with Rev. Stephen McCrate officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park. He is survived by his wife, Exalta Stelly of Groves; one daughter, Jolene LaMaire and husband David of Bridge City; one grandson, David Paul LaMaire and great-granddaughter, Alexis LaMaire, both of Nederland. Relis is also survived by brothers, Joe Stelly of Beaumont, Eli Stelly of Port Arthur; and sisters, Ades Emery of Topeka, Kansas and Lilly Mae Duhon of Arlington.
Agnes M. Davis
PORT ARTHUR - Agnes M. Davis, 81, of Port Arthur, Texas, died Monday, October 9, 206 at Cypress Glen Nursing Home.
Agnes was born on July 20, 1925 in Port Arthur, Texas to Joseph Huval and Lula Berard Huval. She was a lifelong Port Arthur resident and member of Trinity Baptist Church, and also North Port Arthur Lions Club.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 13, 2006 at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves with Reverend Mike Due and Reverend W.C. Burns officiating. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 12, 2006 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Survivors include her husband, Fred S. Davis of Port Arthur, Texas; two sons, Edwin P. Davis and wife, Melissa of College Station, Texas, and Fred J. Davis and wife, Pam of Nederland, Texas.
Vernice Beaty Vickers
PORT ARTHUR - Vernice Beaty Vickers born October 1, 1912 in Call, Texas, passed away after a brief illness on October 11, 2006 at Christus St. Mary Hospital in Port Arthur, Texas. She was a resident of Port Arthur for 71 years. She grew up in Port Neches, Texas and graduated from Port Neches - Groves High School.
She was a member of the United Methodist Temple in Port Arthur where she attended the Cullen Hamilton Sunday School Class. She was also a member of the Department Club.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 14, 2006 at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves, Texas. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 12, 2006 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lyle M. Vickers. Survivors are her daughter, Carolyn Patin of Groves, TX and son-in-law, Lloyd J. Patin; two grandsons, David Patin and wife, Jessica of Kingwood, TX, and Kenneth Patin and wife, Jennifer of Groves, TX; three great-granddaughters, Leslie Patin of Groves, TX, Allison Patin and Addison Patin of Kingwood, TX; sister-in-law, Lois Vickers of Whittier, CA; and niece, Linda Chesson of Boynton Beach, FL.

Alfred Moore
Alfred Moore was called home by his heavenly Father of October 10, 2006, surrounded by his loving and devoted family.
Alfred was born on October 1, 1937, in Galveston, Texas to Mack and Rebecca Moore. Upon graduation from Lamar High School, Houston, he began a 33 year career with Texaco, Inc. in Port Arthur, Texas. He was currently enjoying computer classes at Lamar State College, Port Arthur.
He marriage Judy Romero, his wife of 48 years in May of 1958. They were blessed with four daughters: Lisa, Gina, Natalie and Danielle.
Alfred was a member of Park Central Church of Christ, where he served as Deacon, Elder and head of the Building Committee. He was a faithful Christian and his greatest achievement was leading each of his daughters to a strong relationship with Christ.
Alfred cherished every moment with each of his eleven grandchildren: Brooke, Blaire, and Bailey Bowling; Emily, Ethan, and Erik Ravey; Scout Reynolds; Madison, Sadie, Lillie, and Presley Wilson. He loved to be called PaPa.
A legacy of love, Alfred is survived by his devoted wife, Judy (Romero) Moore, blessed daughters and sons-in-law: Robert and Lisa Bowling of Port Neches, Darren and Gina Ravey of Katy, Channing and Natalie Reynolds of Steamboat Springs, Colorado, and Tom and Danielle Wilson of The Woodlands, loving mother Rebecca Moore of Groves, cherished twin brother Mack Moore, Jr., and wife Patsy, and eleven grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M., Friday, October 13, 2006 in the Chapel of Clayton-Thompson Funeral Home, with interment to follow in Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Port Neches. Visitation will be 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., Thursday at the funeral home.
