Flo Robertson

GROVES - Flo Robertson, 94, of Groves, Texas died Friday, October 13, 2006 at Leon Valley Nursing Center in San Antonio, Texas. Flo was born on March 14, 1912 in Huttig, Arkansas to James Robert Lockett and Mattie Lambert Lockett. She was resident of Groves before moving to San Antonio and was a member of First Baptist Church of Groves. Graveside service will be at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 17, 2006 at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches with Reverend Michael Martin officiating. Burial will be under the direction of Levingston Funeral Home in Groves. Survivors include her son, Jimmy Whitehead of San Antonio, Texas; four grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

Catherine Carrier

PORT ARTHUR - Catherine Carrier, 78, of Port Arthur, passed away at Camelot of Broussard, La. on January 30, 2007. She was born on December 22, 1929, in Port Arthur, Texas, to Clifford J. and Lula Mae Carrier. She was a long time resident of Port Arthur before moving to New Iberia, Louisiana, 4 years ago. Catherine worked in the bakery at Market Basket in Groves, Texas for several years. She previously worked at Howard's Grocery Market on 9th Avenue in Port Arthur. She was a devoted sister and aunt. She was affectionately known as "Aunt Tootie" to her many nieces and nephews. She loved to crochet and knit and loved making afghans and baby blankets for family. She loved children and animals. She was a member of Full Gospel Fellowship in Nederland, Texas for many years. More recently she was a member of Glorious Church Worship Center in New Iberia. Visitation will be from 11:00AM to 2:00PM on Friday, February 2, 2007, with a Christian Service following at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves, Texas. The service will be conducted by her nephew, Rev. Kenneth Leleux, Pastor of Glorious Church Worship Center, New Iberia, Louisiana. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park, in Port Arthur. Catherine was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford J. and Lula Mae Carrier; her sister, Lois Courville; and brothers-in-law, Isaac Courville, Leonard Schexnayder and Herbert Bertrand, Sr.; two nephews, Danny Schexnayder and Mark Courville; and niece, Pamela Schexnayder. Catherine is survived by a sister, Dorothy Schexnayder Bertrand, of New Iberia, Louisiana; 3 nephews and their spouses, Rene' E. and Renee' Courville, Kenny and Terrie Courville, of Houston, Texas, Brian and Sherri Schexnayder, of Plano, Texas; 2 nieces and their spouses, Revs. Stephanie and Kenneth Leleux, of New Iberia, Louisiana, Jan and Timmy Courville of Lafayette, La.; and niece and special caretaker, Rena Schexnayder of Lafayette, Louisiana; and a host of great nephews and nieces and great, great nephews and nieces. Pallbearers will be Kenneth E. Courville, Brian E. Schexnayder, Kenneth Clay Courville, Jason Burkhalter, Brady Bowen and Jonathon Bowen. Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Humphreys, Mitchell Daspit, Mark Proctor and Joel Leleux.

Maxine Miles

PORT ARTHUR - Maxine Miles, 89, of Port Arthur passed away Saturday, January 27, 2007, at Harbor Hospice House in Beaumont surrounded by her loving family. A gathering of friends and family will take place from 2:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M. Saturday, February 3, 2007, at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home in Port Arthur with a Chapel Service to be conducted at 4:00 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home. Private graveside services will be conducted Sunday, February 4, 2007, at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves. Maxine was born on April 14, 1917, in Karnes City, Texas, to Annie England Webb and Elmer Preston Webb. She had lived in Port Arthur for over sixty-five years and was one of Jehovah's Witnesses and a member of the Kingdom Hall in Port Arthur. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend who will be missed dearly. Maxine was survived by her daughters; Wanette Spell and her husband Brady of Houston, Carolyn A. Parthum of Nederland and Darla Gladden and her husband David of Port Arthur; sister, Avis Marie Barclay of California; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Preceding Maxine in death were her parents; brother, Kenneth P. Webb; husband, Elwood Miles and baby daughter, Darlene Miles.

Floyd Clinton Shedrick (Snook)

July 17, 1947 - Jan. 24, 2007

The beautiful spirit of Floyd Clinton (Snook) Shedrick departed until the Lord January 24, 2007. He was a resident of Port Arthur, Texas. He was employed at the City of Port Arthur, Austin Industrial as an operator, and Womack. Floyd joined Church at an early age. Later, Floyd united with New Life Missionary Baptist Church in 2004. Floyd was under the Leadership of Rev. E. Glenn Kemper. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lena Judware Jones; his father, Floyd Shedrick Sr.; two brothers, Glen Ray Shedrick and Lloyd (Red) Shedrick; one sister, Carolyn Shedrick and a special niece, Karen Watson. He leaves to cherish his loving memories: his wife, Selina Kemper Shedrick; 3 daughters, Fralina, Pebble, and Rejoice Shedrick; son, Floyd Shedrick Jr.; 3 step-daughters; three sisters, Linda Barns (Woodson), Brenda Landry and Juanita Jones, all of Port Arthur; aunt, Alberta Anderson of Beaumont, TX; and 16 grandchildren, all of Port Arthur, TX; and a host of relatives and friends. Visitation is scheduled 9AM to 11AM at New Life Missionary Baptist Church under the Leadership of Rev. E. Glenn Kemper Saturday Feb. 3, 2007. Funeral services will follow after visitation at 11AM under the direction of Gabriel Funeral Home of Port Arthur, TX.

NEDERLAND - Kathleen "Kay" LeBlanc, 83, of Nederland, Texas passed away on Tuesday, January 30, 2007 at the Medical Center of Southeast Texas. She was born in Port Arthur, Texas on October 23, 1923 to Kathleen C. Hawkins Adamthwaite and Charles Adamthwaite. She was lifelong resident of the Port Arthur and Mid-County area. Kay retired from Sears as a clerk in the Parts Department after more than 10 years of service. She was a devoted homemaker, a longtime member of St. George's Episcopal Church and Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Port Neches, Texas. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be on Friday, February 2, 2007 at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Cliff Rucker officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Serving as pallbearers will be Greg R. Feemster, Darryl Feemster, Greg J. Feemster, Kevin McDonald, Keith McDonald and Cody Feemster. Honorary pallbearers will be Geoff LeBlanc, Tyler Ray Feemster and Timothy Feemster. She was preceded in death by her husband of over 60 years, Eufis LeBlanc. Kay is survived by her daughter, Phyllis Mathewson of Caldwell, Texas and her son, Geoff LeBlanc of Mid County as well as her sister, Gwen McBride of Dallas, Texas. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Greg Feemster, Darryl Feemster, Tamara DeLeon and Christy LeBlanc; her great-grandchildren, Greg Feemster, Kevin McDonald, Keith McDonald, Nacole McDonald, Bridget Feemster, Cody Feemster, Tyler Ray Feemster, Timothy Feemster, Aidan Stinnett and Keaton DeLeon.

Dorothy "Gwen" Timmons

GROVES - Dorothy "Gwen" Timmons, 81, of Groves, Texas died Tuesday, January 30, 2007 at Renaissance Hospital. Gwen was born on August 26, 1925 in Celburne, Texas to Arless McBroom and Lois Miller McBroom. She was a resident of Groves for 72 years and longtime member of Friendship Baptist Church. She retired from the Port Neches-Groves Independent School District as a cafeteria worker, and was past president of Groves Senior Citizens. Funeral services will be at 12:00 p.m. (Noon) Friday, February 2, 2007 at Levingston Funeral Home. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 1, 2007 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Survivors include her two sons, Alan Timmons of Nederland, Texas and David Timmons and wife, Darla of Orange, Texas; brother, Eugene McBroom of Orange, Texas; and grandson, John Timmons of Mauriceville, Texas.

LeToma "Tommye" Hernandez

BRIDGE CITY - LeToma "Tommye" Hernandez, 64, of Bridge City died Tuesday, January 30, 2007 at her home. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 2, 2007 at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City. Officiating will be Reverend David Green. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange. Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home. Mrs. Hernandez was born April 16, 1942 in Port Arthur to Thomas and Mazie Lee (White) Nesbitt. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Roy Hernandez and is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and John Cormier of Bridge City; grandchildren, Elyse Couder and Brooke Couder and step grandchildren, Joshua Cormier, Kaleb Cormier and Megan Cormier.

Pearl Ann Arnold

GROVES - Pearl Ann Arnold, 86, of Groves, passed away Tuesday, January 30, 2007 at her residence in Groves. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 2, 2007 at St. Peters Catholic Church in Groves with Rev. Msgr. Kenneth Greig officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches under the direction of Broussard's in Nederland. A gathering of family and friends will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, February 1, 2007 with a Christian Vigil to be held at 6:00 p.m. at the mortuary. Mrs. Arnold was born in Trinity, and lived in the Port Arthur and Groves area all of her life. She retired from the Port Arthur Police Dept. as a passing guard at Peas Elementary with 21 years of service. Mrs. Arnold was preceded in death by her husband, Neal Arnold, and her grandson, Larry Lopez, Jr. She is survived by four daughters, Imelda Talbert and her husband John of Nederland, Dixie LeBouef and husband, Pat of Groves, Marilyn Broussard and her late husband, Jerry of Nederland, and Mary Arnold of Groves; her seven grandchildren, Carlene Singleton, Connie Anselmo, Neal LeBouef, Dodie Taubert, Nicky LeBouef, Steven Knott, and Jerrod Broussard; also seven great-grandchildren.

Donald E. Davis

PORT ARTHUR - Mr. Donald Edwin Davis, 85, of Port Arthur passed away Sunday, January 28, 2007 at Christus St. Mary Hospital in Port Arthur. Don was born March 23, 1921, in Melcher, Iowa to parents Edwin and Margaret Davis. His family moved to Texas in 1941. During WWII Don served as a Staff Sergeant in the Army Air Corps. He was a nose gunner on a B-24 Bomber. He was with the Fifth Air Force, 529th Bombardment Squadron, and 380th Bombardment Group, stationed in the South Pacific. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Service Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal. After the war he worked for Gulf Oil Refinery and retired after 37 years. He was an operator in the Petrochemical Department. Don was an avid golfer and retirement gave him more time to spend on the golf course. He made a hole-in-one four times, the last time when he was 80 years old. Don was preceded in death by his daughter Kathy Cook on March 6, 2001. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Muriel Davis; son, Larry Davis of Bridge City; son-in-law Ed Cook of Livermore, CA; four grandsons, Todd Davis of Bridge City, Tim Davis of Nederland, James and Steven Cook of Livermore, CA; one great-granddaughter, Mara Anne Davis; niece, Donna Blaskovich of Des Moines. IA; and nephew, Jack Davis and wife Nancy of Pekin, IL. A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 1, 2007 from 5 pm until 8 pm at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, February 2, 2007 at 10 am, with The Rev. Cliff Rucker officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.

Sheila Salter Hebert

Sheila Salter Hebert, 54, passed away on Monday, January 29, 2007 at Christus St. Mary's Hospital. Memorial service will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, February 3, 2007 at The Rock Church in Groves. A gathering of family and friends will be from 5 to 8 PM Friday on February 2, 2007 at Broussard's in Nederland. She was a native of Port Arthur. She attended The Rock in Groves. She was preceded in death by her father, Coleman Salter. Sheila is survived by her mother, Jo Ann Salter of Port Arthur; daughters, Michelle Berterand of Corpus Christi, Danielle Berterand of Port Arthur, Sunny Jo Hebert of Augusta, GA, Jennifer Lee Hebert of Port Arthur; Eleven grandchildren; brother, Charles Salter of Jasper; Aunt, Janet Freeman of Shreveport, LA.
