JoAnn Hopkins
PORT NECHES - JoAnn Hopkins, 75, of Port Neches, Texas passed away March 26, 2008 at the Medical Center of Southeast Texas. She was born July 19, 1932 in Abbeville, Louisiana to the late Preston and Jeanette Thibodeaux Comeaux. She was a member of First Church of God of Port Arthur. She is survived by 3 sons, Randall David Hopkins of Nederland, and Richard Glenn Hopkins, Sr. (Lisa) of Nederland, and Jeffrey Dale Hopkins of Port Arthur; 2 daughters, Linda Gale Mobley (Arthur) of Cocoa, Florida and Judy Denise Perkins of Port Neches; 3 sisters, Gaynell Swindle of Katy, Mary Lynn Braquet of Groves, and Judy Domec of Port Arthur; special cousin, Dolores Douglas of Groves; 6 grandchildren; and 5 great - grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Henry J. Hopkins; her parents; sister, Earline Stewts; and grandson, James Eugene Mobley. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 28th at Heritage Funeral Home in Nederland, under the direction of Johnny Huckaby.
Funeral services will be Saturday, March 29th at 10:00 a.m. at First Church of God, Rev. Bob Arnold officiating. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves, Texas.
Spencer Comeaux
Spencer Comeaux was born April 14, 1910 to Sallie Landry Comeaux and Columbus Comeaux Sr. in Abbeville, Louisiana. He attended school in Abbeville Vermillion Parish and was baptized at a very early age at Mount Triumph Church. He was co-founder and owner of Como Taxi and worked there for more than seventy years until his health failed. Prior to entering the taxi business he was employed by Gulf Oil Corporation. He served in the U.S. Army and received an honorable discharge.
Mr. Comeaux was a devoted Port Arthuran and was always willing to help those in need and to work for the good of the City of Port Arthur.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Annie Lorent Comeaux; four brothers, Columbus Comeaux Jr., Leander Comeaux Sr., Simon Comeaux Sr. and Edward Comeaux Sr. He leaves to cherish his memories two devoted sisters, Cecilia Comeaux Singleton of Port Arthur, Texas, Verlinda Comeaux of Abbeville, Louisiana; nine nephews, Edward Comeaux Jr. of Pomona, California, John Comeaux - wife Cynthia of Port Arthur, Texas; Spencer Comeaux - wife, Abigail, of Port Arthur, Texas; Joseph Comeaux - wife Brenda of New Orleans, Louisiana, Columbus James Comeaux of Dallas, Texas; Gerald Comeaux of Port Arthur, Texas; Glen Comeaux - wife Donna of Savannah, Georgia; Donald Comeaux of Beaumont, Texas; and Noah Comeaux of St. Louis, Missouri; five nieces, Betty Comeaux Lee - husband, Jethro of Mitchellville, Maryland; Myrtle Comeaux Johnson - husband Johnnie of Missouri City, Texas; Veronica Comeaux Doyle of Port Arthur, Texas; Emma Comeaux Thornton of Los Angeles, California; Lola Comeaux of Dallas, Texas and his devoted caregiver Sheila White as well as a host of great nephews, great nieces, cousins and friends.

Funeral services for Spencer Comeaux are scheduled for Saturday, March 29, 11:00 A.M. at St. Paul Methodist Church, 821 Texas Avenue. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 A.M.
Jesse T. Sanders
PORT ARTHUR - Jesse T. Sanders of Port Arthur, Texas passed away on Friday, March 28, 2008 at Christus St. Mary Hospital in Port Arthur at the age of 85.
He was born in Kentwood, Louisiana on September 7, 1922 to Katie Frazier Sanders and Aldee Sanders. Jesse proudly served in the United States Marine Corp during WWII, where he was a survivor of Pearl Harbor.
He retired from Gulf Oil as an operator after 33 years of service. He was a longtime member of Procter Baptist Church in Port Arthur. Visitation will be on Saturday, March 29, 2008 from 5 P.M. to 8 P.M. at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home. Funeral service will be on Sunday, March 30, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. in the Thompson Memorial Chapel at Clayton Thompson with Dr. Rick Erwin, officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens under the direction of Clayton Thompson.
He is survived by his wife Maxine Sanders of Port Arthur, Texas, his daughter Tanya Simon and her husband Durwyn of Orange, Texas, his sons Gary Sanders of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Jesse R. Sanders and his wife Judy of Hempstead, Texas. He is also survived by his four grandchildren Chris Sanders, Angie Avery, Kayla Rosenberg and Amber Redoux, his seven great-grandchildren Joey Sanders, Natalie Sanders, Max Rosenberg, Desiree Simon, Austin Avery, Madison Avery and Shawn Redoux as well as his sister Marian "Tiny" Braud of Baton Rouge, Louisiana along with several nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews.
Viola Day Marshall
PORT ARTHUR - Viola Day Marshall, 58, of Port Arthur, TX passed away on Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at her residence. A native of New Iberia, LA, she was a resident of Port Arthur for 37 years. She is preceded in death by her parents, Howard Day, Sr. and Louise Day; and daughter, Latricey Marshall.
She is survived by her husband, Victor Marshall of Long Beach, CA; a daughter, Drunell Marshall of Jacksonville, FL; a son, Denard Marshall of Port Arthur, TX; sisters, Linda Jones (Mason), Doris Rue (Nathan, Sr.), Dianna Day, Gayla Day, Denise James, all of Port Arthur, TX; one brother, Howard (Erica) Day, Jr. of Tulsa, OK; 7 grandchildren, Nikeeda, Regina, Jazzmyne, Madison, Mykel, Javell, Derick, and Little; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held Monday, 11 a.m. at Gabriel Funeral Home in Port Arthur, TX.
Jack Betencourt, Sr.
Jack Betencourt, Sr., 88, of Call, Texas died Friday, March 28, 2008 at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont, Texas. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, March 31, at Adams EE Stringer Funeral Home in Kirbyville with burial at trout Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
A native of Florida, he had lived in Kirbyville 19 years and was a retired Merchant Marine and a retired Machinist for Marine Industrial. He was a U.S. Merchant Marine Veteran of World War II (1941-1945) where he earned miscellaneous metals including Honorable service, Victory Metal WWII, Pacific War Zone, Mariner's Metal, Middle-East War Zone, Combat Bar and Atlantic War Zone Metal.
Our dad never met a stranger and always had a great story to tell. His family meant the world to him and he truly loved his Lord and Savior. He is survived by his wife, Louise Betencourt of Call; five daughters, Patricia Capps of Lometa, TX, Pam Tillman and husband, James of Nederland, Cynthia Ward of Pt. Arthur, Deborah Bellanger and husband, Michael of Bridge City, and Ruby Betencourt Morgan and husband, Roger of Call; 17 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.

Thomas "Tommy" Joseph Fournier
NEDERLAND - Thomas "Tommy" Joseph Fournier, 86, of Nederland died Sunday, March 30, 2008 at his resident in Nederland.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at Broussard's in Nederland with Rev. T.R. Blanco officiating. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves. A gathering of family and friends will be from 5 to 8 PM Tuesday with a Rosary to be recited at 5:30 PM at the mortuary.
Mr. Fournier was a native of Baldwin, Louisiana and lived most of his life in Port Arthur until moving to Nederland in 1986. He retired from Texaco Port Arthur as a Process Operator with 36 years of service. He served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. Mr. Fournier is preceded in death by his wife, and the mother of his children, Beatrice Fournier. He is survived by his wife, Lee Denney Fournier of Nederland; two daughters, Barbara Comeaux of Nederland, and Mary Jane Parsley and husband George also of Nederland; one son, Bruce Fournier and wife Linda of Nederland; three step-daughters, Teresa Faulk and husband Greg of Nederland, Jammie Rogers and husband Ricky of Baytown, and Brenda Richard and husband Michael of Nederland; two step-sons, Bobby Denney and wife Kim of Beaumont, and David Denney and wife Lisa of Spring. He also survived by twelve grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Misty Rene' Anderson
BEAUMONT - Misty Rene' Anderson, 28, of Beaumont passed away March 29, 2008. She was born in Galveston May 1, 1979. A lifelong resident of Beaumont, Misty graduated from West Brook High School in 1997 and received a degree from Lamar State College Port Arthur in Cosmetology. She is survived by her mother, Janet Barnett and her husband Robert Barnett III of Beaumont; father, Randy Anderson and his wife Linda of China; sister, Dawn Havens and her husband Jason and their son Jace of League City; stepsisters, Christi Cutright and her husband Wally and their children, Aurora and Victoria of West Virginia, and Nicole Terese Barnett of Beaumont; grandparents, Myrna Manuel of Beaumont, Harold "Andy" Anderson and his wife Effie of Fannett, and Wilma Dean Anderson of Nederland; great-grandmother, Inez Hebert of Beaumont; and numerous cousins, aunts, and uncles. Her grandfather, John Kirby Manuel; and aunt, Sherry Denise Anderson Harrington, preceded Misty in death. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at Broussard's, 1605 N. Major Drive, Beaumont followed by burial at Haven of Rest Cemetery. A gathering of family and friends will be from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Tuesday evening, April 1, 2008 at the mortuary.
