Edward "Buddy" Arnold Bodin
PORT ARTHUR - Edward "Buddy" Arnold Bodin, 68, of Port Arthur, Texas passed away on Monday, March 24, 2008 at his home.
He was born in Port Arthur, Texas on July 5, 1939 to Leslie Mae Williams Bodin and George Joseph Bodin.
Buddy was a self employed professional glass cleaner for over 40 years, he worked all over the Golden Triangle area for several business establishments.
Visitation will be on Friday, March 28, 2008 from 5 P.M. to 8 P.M. at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 29, 2008 in the Thompson Memorial Chapel at Clayton Thompson with Rev. Cliff Rucker, officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Buddy is survived by his son Chris Bodin of Orange, Texas, his sister Martha Davis of Nederland, Texas, his brothers Francis Bodin and Robert Bodin both of Port Arthur, Texas along with numerous nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews.
Doris Joseph Gary
Doris Joseph Gary, 90, of Conroe, Texas passed away on Monday, March 24, 2008 at Almost Home Personal Care in Conroe. He was born August 19, 1917 to Eliza Dore Gary and Valcourt Gary.
Doris served in the U. S. Army during WWII, where he was involved in the landing at Normandy, recipient of the Purple Heart and Bronze Star.
He was a resident of Port Arthur for over 70 years before moving to Conroe to be closer to his family.
He retired from the Texas Company (Texaco) as an operator after over 30 years of service.
A gathering of friends and family will be on Friday, March 28, 2008 from 1 P.M. to 3 P.M. at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 3 P.M. in the Clayton Memorial Chapel at Clayton Thompson. Entombment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
Doris was preceded in death by his wife Irene Marie Gary, who passed away March 2007, his step daughter Patsy Chauvin, as well as his parents and all twelve of his siblings. He is survived by his daughter Gwen Stanley and her husband Greg of Willis, Texas, grandchildren Rebecca Stanley, Jonell Chauvin and Tammy Colicci along with great-grandchildren Natasha, Danny, Anthony, Patty and Preston.

Billie "Gram" Laufenberg
PORT ARTHUR - Mrs. Billie "Gram" Laufenberg, 75, of Port Arthur passed away on Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at St. Mary Hospital.
She was a native of Leesville, Louisiana; born on July 22, 1932 to parents Clyde Williams and Ruth Wood Williams. She had lived most of her life in Port Arthur. She retired from St. Mary Hospital after 20 years of service as a nurse. Mrs. Laufenberg was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend who will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mitchell McDow Laufenberg and her brother, Gary Williams.
She is survived by her son, Mitchum Laufenberg and his wife Judith of Port Arthur; daughters, Sue Hernandez and her husband Manuel of Port Arthur, Cheryl Buckley and her husband Dennis of Noble, LA; brother, Gayle Williams and his wife Fay of Houston; sister, Patty Guillotte and her husband Gene of Bridge City; grandchildren, John Hernandez, Amy Cappadonna, Michael Hernandez, Dennis Buckley II, Mitchell Louis Laufenberg; great-granddaughter, Emily Buckley.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 27, 2008 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 28, 2008 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
Clayton Ray Richard
Clayton Ray Richard, 35, of Port Arthur, Texas passed away on Monday, March 24, 2008 at his home in Irving, Texas.
He was born in Port Arthur, Texas on September 18, 1972 to Rachel Morris Richard and Ray Richard. He graduated from Bridge City High School in 1991 and Lamar University in 1996 with a degree in Criminal Justice. He was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity.
Clayton was employed as a Sales Representative with Time Warner Media Sales for over 5 years and was recently transferred to the Dallas area. He loved golf, hunting, family and friends and his dogs.
Visitation will be on Thursday, March 27, 2008 from 5 P.M. to 8 P.M. at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be on Friday, March 28, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. in the Thompson Memorial Chapel at Clayton Thompson with Rev. Walter Montondon, officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
He is survived by his parents Ray and Rachel Richard of Port Arthur, Texas, his brothers Michael Richard of Bridge City, Texas and James Richard of Groves, Texas along with his aunts Sandra Mertens, Jean Glasscock, Gail Salem and Patricia Schneller and his uncle V. J. Morris as well as his great aunt Rachel Smith and great uncle Jim "Poochie" Darby and wife Trella along with numerous cousins.
Mrs. Thelma Slone
PORT ARTHUR - Mrs. Thelma Slone of Port Arthur departed Sunday, March 23, 2008. A native of Elizabeth, Louisiana, she was a resident of Port Arthur for 67 years. She was a 1947 graduate of Sacred Heart Catholic School. She is a member of St. John's Catholic Church.
A visitation is scheduled on Friday, March 28th from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM with Rosary at 10:15 AM. Father Sinclair Oubre officiating. Burial will follow at Live Oak Cemetery under direction of Gabriel Funeral Home.
Mrs. Slone was preceded in death by her husband, Richard B. Slone, Sr.; two sons, Richard Jr. and Royce; daughter, Vivian.
Mrs. Slone is survived by nine children, Sylvia Tyler, Deborah Slone, Ricki Slone, Sr., Vicki Slone, Robin Slone (Jackie), Randy Slone, Elsie Parker (Michael), Stella Granger (Danny) and Lori Lewis (Jeffery); 33 grandchildren, 25 great-great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Johnnie B. Allen (Nora), Sr.; 3 sisters, Eola Chambers, Maude Brown, and Willie B. Ford; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
John David Timmons
GROVES - John David Timmons, 27, of Groves, Texas died Sunday, March 23, 2008.
John was born on October 31, 1980 in Atwater, California to David and Darla Ford Timmons. He was a resident of Groves for l0 years and was employed by Promiles as a Tech Support Specialist. He was a U.S. Army Veteran.
Funeral services will be at 5:30 p.m., Friday, March 28, 2008 at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves, Texas with Reverend Buddy Evans officiating. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday evening from 5:00p.m.-7:00p.m. at the funeral home.
Survivors include his fiance, Jocelyn Ugaz Perez of Port Arthur, Texas; parents, David and Darla Teresa Timmons of Mauriceville, Texas; grandparents, Doma and Floyd Williford of Kirbyville, Texas.
Dorothy Ann Batiste
Dorothy Ann Batiste, 57, of Cottonport, LA died March 27, 2008. She leaves to cherish six children: Vicky Moore (Aubrey), Doris Morris (Broderick), Ronnie Moore, Tony Moore (Christy), Precious Levi (Brad), Latasha Moore and several grandchildren.
