Sheryl Lynne Iwasko McLaughlin

April 1, 2008 was a special day, Heaven's roll was called. Sheryl's name is on that list. This call she could not resist. Sheryl knew who was calling her name. It was none other than The Lord Jesus Christ. The lover of her soul. You see He had given her an appointed time to accomplish what He had planned for her.
"FOR I KNOW THE THOUGHTS I HAVE TOWARDS YOU SAITH THE LORD, THOUGHTS OF PEACE AND NOT OF EVIL TO GIVE YOU AN EXPECTED END." Jer. 29:11
Sheryl was to be as friendly as she could be. And that she did well, for she touched people like you and me.
"Let us, therefore be strong and of good courage, for we know that weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning" Ps. 30:5.
Let us be assured that now Sheryl sits on her Father's lap. He who loves her best. In this life, Sheryl Lynne Iwasko McLaughlin was born on August 12, 1963 in San Antonio, Texas to her parents Jerry Newman Allen and Charlie Iwasko. Sheryl graduated from PN-G High School in 1981. She received an Associate's Degree from Lamar University. She was employed in the business community for several years. Her customers for selling "the best shrimp in town" will remember her best. Sheryl loved life! She loved her family! She loved to fish! She loved her dog, Kyra too. Sheryl will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her husband, Keith McLaughlin; her son, Timothy Garcia; and her daughter, Jamie McLaughlin of Groves; parents, Jerry and Terry Allen of Silsbee, Charlie and Vickie Iwasko of Port Neches; her brother, Chuck and sister-in-law, Julie Iwasko of groves; her nieces and nephews, Chris and Ashley Iwako of Dallas, Michael Iwasko of Dallas and Jennifer Iwasko of Waco; her sister, Karen and brother- in-law, Landon Birge; and baby Emily Kate Birge of Grand Prairie, Texas.
Sheryl will also be greatly missed by many more family members and numerous friends.

Visitation is scheduled 6pm-8pm, Friday, April 4, 2008 at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves. Funeral services will be held Saturday from 11am at the Funeral Home with Pastor Rudy Elizondo and Pastor Joe Worley officiating. Interment will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Park

Felton Gerald Rubin

Homegoing celebration for Mr. Felton Gerald Rubin will be Saturday, April 5th, 2008 with viewing from 9 am - 11 am and services at 11 am at East Mount Olive MBC, 800 Thomas Blvd. Interment will follow at Live Oak.

Mildred Boudreaux "Aunt C"

PORT ACRES - Mildred "Aunt C" Boudreaux, 89, of Port Acres died, Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at the Senior Rehabilitation Center in Port Arthur.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Friday, April 4, 2008 at Broussard's in Nederland with Rev. Eric Stafford officiating, with interment to follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches. A gathering of family and friends will be from 5 to 8 PM Thursday at the mortuary.
Aunt C was a native of Lake Arthur, Louisiana and lived in Port Acres for 70 years. She was a homemaker and a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Port Acres for many years. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Dudley Joseph Boudreaux; three sons, Dudley R. Boudreaux and wife Elizabeth of Boerne, Harry D. Boudreaux and wife Phyllis of Beaumont, and David L. Boudreaux and wife Joey of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; nine grandchildren, Kristi Bacom, Stephen Boudreaux, Jason Boudreaux, Stacy Prouse, Harry Boudreaux Jr., JoLynne Boudreaux, Brian Boudreaux, Julie Schick, Chris Jung and twelve great-grandchildren.

Lew Miller

GROVES - Lew Miller, age 85 of Groves, Texas died Wednesday, April 2 at his home in Groves. Funeral services will be at 3:00p.m., Saturday, April 5, 2008 at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves. Burial will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday evening from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Born in Stowell, Texas to Dr. James R. Miller and Ethel Miller, he is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Betty Goodwyn and Margaret Cummings, and brother, John Miller. He is survived by his wife, Marie Miller; two sons, and their families, David and Kelley of New York City, Gary and his wife, Sarah of San Antonio, and two grandsons, Wesley and Aaron of San Antonio. Lew served during World War II in the 8th Air Force in England and retired from Fina Refinery after 34 years of service. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Groves, and a life member of the IBEW. The family would like to thank Odyssey Healthcare for the wonderful care provided.

Felton Gerald Rubin

Hillman Guillory

Hillman, a resident of Port Arthur, Texas, was born on December 30, 1947 in Iota, Louisiana to Sidney and Kate Guillory. From this union, fifteen children were born. He passed away peacefully after a long illness at the Medical Center of Southeast Texas on March 27, 2008 at 3:35 p.m. Preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Annie Mae, Ethel, Mildred, Joyce Mae, and Effie Mae; brothers, Walter, Leo, Tayo, Phillip, Wallace and Joseph. He is survived by his one faithful sister, Mary Davis of Port Arthur, Texas; two brothers, Sidney Guillory and his twin, Willman Guillory of Houston, Texas; his children, Isaac, Motsy, Mark, Christine, Fegoddess Guillory's and their mother, Cheryl Rodgers; and of course a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A visitation is scheduled from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Friday, April 4, 2008 at Gabriel Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, April 5, 2008 at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Gabriel Funeral Home.

Katherine Ann Palermo Romero

LAKE CHARLES - Katherine Ann Palermo Romero, 95, of Lake Charles died at 1:10 AM on Thursday, April 3, 2008 in a local care facility. She was born and raised in Lake Charles, LA and grew up in Goosport with many other Italian Families. She moved to Port Arthur, TX when she marriage. Katherine was much loved by all who knew her. Her company was really special. She enjoyed home decorating and sewing and always had lovely taste. She was a wonderful cook and took pleasure in fixing plate lunches for needy family and friends. She was compassionate to her in-laws for many years. She spent much of her day in her yard where she landscaped and gardened until two years ago. Her azaleas were her pride and joy. Watching the birds enjoy her flowers was a true pleasure for her. She was the sweetest lady one could ever know. Katherine is survived by her son, Robert Romero and his wife, Ginger of Orange, TX; her brother, Joe I. Palermo of Lake Charles; her sisters, Camille Palermo Benton of Lake Charles and Marion Palermo Cox of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; her nieces, Brenda Palermo Nabours, Teri Palermo Broussard, and Adele Palermo Hamer all of Lake Charles; step grandchildren, Shawn Kerr and Staci Harken; and step great-grandchildren, McKensie and Marleigh Harken. She was preceded in death by her husband, Delius Romero; her parents, Ignazio Palermo and Camille Gengo Palermo, both immigrants from Sicily; and several siblings. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, April 5, 2008 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Monsignor James Gaddy will officiate. Visitation will be on Saturday from 9:00 AM until time of services. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves, TX. Freddie Darcey

PORT NECHES - Freddie Darcey, 80 of Port Neches, passed away Thursday, April 3, 2008 at Christus St. Mary Hospital in Port Arthur. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, April 5, 2008 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Port Neches with Rev. Bennie Patillo officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches under the direction of Broussard's in Nederland. A gathering of family and friends will be 5:00 – 8:00 PM, Friday with a Christian Vigil to be recited at 5:30 PM at the mortuary. Mr. Darcey was a native of New Iberia, Louisiana and has lived in Port Neches since 1957. He was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Port Neches and served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was retired from Port Neches-Groves ISD as a custodian with 35 years of service. He was also a member of the Port Neches Knights of Columbus Council #2461. Mr. Darcey was preceded in death by his daughter, Judy Badeaux, parents, and six siblings. He is survived by his wife, Martha Darcey of Port Neches; son, Wayne Darcey of Port Neches; son-in-law, Allen Badeaux of New Iberia, La; three grandchildren, Lindsay Darcey, Jeremy Larmond, Michael Badeaux; three great-grandchildren, Alexandra Badeaux, Nicholas Badeaux, and Maggie Larmond.

Martha Jane (Sweet) Mason

PORT ARTHUR - Mrs. Martha Jane (Sweet) Mason of Port Arthur died Wednesday, April 2nd, at Hermann Memorial Baptist Hospital - Beaumont. A native of Beaumont and a 1938 graduate of Charlton-Pollard High School, she was a resident of Port Arthur for over 58 years. She was a member of St. Paul UMC. She was a head cook at Senior Citizens Port Arthur and served as a foster grandparent from 1989 to 2006 when she retired. She was recognized by SETRPC for 15 years of service. She was among the first persons to serve as a Southeast Texas Foster Grandparent when it became in 1989. She served as an advisory council member, was a spokesperson for the program in some of their PSA and at some of their training for new volunteers. She served Wheatley Head Start in Port Arthur her last few years of service. A visitation is scheduled from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 5th at St. Paul UMC, 821 Texas Avenue, Port Arthur. Funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Patricia Wells officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Survivors include brothers, Joseph Patterson Sweet (Arlene) of Houston, and Dallas Lawrence Sweet (Edna) of Beaumont. Special Relatives are Allene L. Sweet, caregiver/niece and Sandra Graze Chargois, Godchild/ niece and a multitude of relatives and friends. Husband, Adam Mason; parents, Jesse and Lorenza Sweet and sisters, Jessie Sweet Vallier and Verlie B. Sweet Graze preceded her in death.
