Catherine Montalvo Y'Barbo
Groves - Catherine Montalvo Y'Barbo, 81, of Groves passed away on Monday, October 22, 2007, at Cypress Glen East Nursing Home in Port Arthur. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, October 27, 2007, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Port Arthur with Rev. T.R. Blanco officiating. Burial will be held Saturday afternoon at Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery in Chireno, Texas. A gathering of friends and family will take place from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Friday, October 26, 2007, at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home in Port Arthur with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.
Catherine was born on February 7, 1926, in Port Arthur to Reyes Martinez Montalvo and Alfonso Montalvo. She was a lifelong Port Arthur resident and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1944; she also was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church and was a retired registered nurse with St. Mary Hospital in Port Arthur where she worked for twenty years. Catherine was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She taught her family peace and goodness through her own example. Catherine loved to sew, cook for her family, loved spending time with her grandchildren, enjoyed traveling, was a member of Mid-Jefferson County Aggie Moms Club and was considered by some to be the "Best tamale maker ever".
Survivors include her husband of fifty-two years, John Y'Barbo of Groves; daughters, Mary Y'Barbo Adams and her husband Steve of Houston and Jackie Y'Barbo Goss and her husband Steve of Katy; sons, John W. Y'Barbo, Jr. and his wife Eileen of Friendswood, Paul E. Y'Barbo of Houston, David L. Y'Barbo and his wife Nittaya of Thailand and Stephen A. Y'Barbo of Houston; brother, Jesse Montalvo and his wife Toby of Port Arthur; sisters, Henrietta Morua of Nederland and Alice Martinez and her husband Pilo of Port Neches, and fifteen grandchildren. Mrs. Y'Barbo's pallbearers will be her grandsons Joshua Y'Barbo, Andrew Y'Barbo, Jacob Y'Barbo, Daniel Y'Barbo, Brian Y'Barbo, Benjamin Y'Barbo, Brant Goss, Drew Goss, Craig Adams, and Blake Adams. Gladys Irene Huebel
Port Arthur - Gladys Irene Huebel, 84, of Port Arthur, Texas died Monday, October 22, 2007 at St. Luke's Hospital in Houston, Texas. Gladys was born August 28, 1923 in Port Arthur, Texas to Carl Albers, Sr. and Minnie Kubitz Albers. She was a lifelong resident of Port Arthur and member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 26, 2007 at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves, Texas with Reverend Richard Turner officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Milton Huebel, Sr.; and granddaughter, Linda Gayle Huebel.
Survivors include her sons, Milton Huebel, Jr. and wife, Ann of Port Arthur, Gary Huebel and fiancee', Esther of Bolivar, Michael Huebel and wife, Barbara of Port Neches, Gerald Huebel and wife, Dianne of Groves; sisters, Clara Mitchell of Port Arthur, Gloria Morgan of Groves; brothers, Curtis Albers of Port Arthur, Reverend Walter Albers of Waco; nine grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, and one great- great- grandchild. Pallbearers will be Chance Huebel, Jeff Huebel, Jeremy Huebel, Shane Huebel, Chris Huebel and Kevin Huebel.
Doral "Dee" Young
PORT ARTHUR - A memorial service will be held for Ms. Doral "Dee" Young, 69, of Port Arthur at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 25, 2007 at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, 501 W. Thomas Blvd., Port Arthur, TX with interment following at Johnson Cemetery.
Ms. Young passed away Friday, October 19, 2007. She was a native of New Orleans, La. and had been a resident of Port Arthur since 1991. Survivors include a nephew she raised, Teron Carter, brothers James Acker, Robert Carter, Bobby Carter, Darrow Carter; sisters; Theresa Leonard, Rene' Barney and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Linda Gayle Trevino
Linda was born December 1, 1947 in Beaumont, TX and passed away October 20, 2007, she was 59. Linda lived most of her life in Port Arthur, and spent the last four years residing in Nacogdoches, TX. She worked as a cashier for the UFCW Union.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Alma Lindsey Soileau and her father, Vernal Soileau of Port Arthur. Linda is survived by her daughter, Cathy Stripling of Nacogdoches, TX; son, Thomas Tankersly; daughter, Cindy Lee of Port Arthur; three brothers, Jimmy Soileau and Joel Soileau of Port Arthur and David Soileau of Knoxville, Tennessee; two sisters, Melissa Gudino of Port Arthur and Sandra Fell of Florida; five grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends who will dearly miss her
A memorial service was held for Linda on Tuesday, October 23rd at the Seventh Day Adventist Church on Old Tyler Road in Nacogdoches, TX. Edna Marie Sandifer
Port Arthur - Edna Marie Sandifer, 94 of Port Arthur, Texas, passed away on October 23, 2007 at her residence.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Friday, October 26, 2007 at Broussard in Nederland with the Reverend Malcom Monroe officiating. A gathering of family and friends is scheduled for Thursday evening from 5:00 until 8:00 pm at the mortuary. Mrs. Sandifer was a native of Vinton, Louisiana, and lived in Port Arthur for the past 84 years and was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Sandifer and two children; son Frank James Sandifer and daughter; Janet Phillips. Surviving Mrs. Sandifer her daughter; Carol Sandifer of Sugar Land, Texas, son; Jim Sandifer and wife Fae of Port Neches, Texas, brothers; Charles Simon of Baytown, Texas, Stanley Simon of Colmesneil, Texas and Abner Simon of Virginia. Also surviving Edna are, 9 Grandchildren, 16 Great Grandchildren and 3 Great Great Grandchildren.

Lee Pearl Guillot Pitrey
Port Acres - Mrs. Lee Pearl Pitrey, 79, of Port Acres passed away on Tuesday, October 23, 2007 at St. Mary Hospital.
She was a native of Port Arthur, Texas; born on January 19, 1928 to parents Paul J. Guillot and Estella Mayers Guillot. She was a lifelong resident of Port Acres. She was a devout Christian and was a retired member of the Altar Society at St. Theresa the Little Flower of Jesus Catholic Church. She was a housewife, loving mother who enjoyed cooking and spending time with her love ones, especially her grand and great-grand children.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Henry James Pitrey; son, David Pitrey and sister, Earlene Dickson. She is survived by her son, John W. Pitrey and his wife Ramona of Port Acres; daughter, Nancy Lee Heider and her husband Charles of Port Neches; grandsons, Robert James Pitrey, Charles Rogers Heider, Christopher Joseph Pitrey, three great-grandchildren, and numerous of nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 25, 2007 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home, with a rosary to be recited a 6 p.m. at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, October 26, 2007 at 10 a.m. at St. Theresa the Little Flower Church in Port Acres, with Rev. Anthony Moozhikuzhy officiating. A burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
Rosa Mae Moore-Jones
May 11, 1917 – Oct. 22, 2007
PORT ARTHUR - Mrs. Rosa Mae Moore-Jones of Port Arthur went home to her Heavenly Father, Monday at St. Mary's Hospital. A native of Ashton, Louisiana, Mrs. Jones was a resident of Port Arthur for 65 years. Earlier in her life, she was employed at the Dixie Plantation in Franklin, Louisiana as housekeeper/cook and for a brief period she was Companion Caregiver for 7 year old Mike Foster Jr., former governor of Louisiana. After arriving in Port Arthur, she was one of the housekeeper/cook, caretakers for George Scully Sr. Family for over 35 years.
Rosa Mae also was the owner/operator of a popular spot called "Bosa Nova Club" on Houston Ave. A visitation is scheduled from 6 p. m.– 9 p.m. Friday at Gabriel Funeral Home Chapel with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. lead by Deacon Willie Posey. Funeral Service is scheduled for 9 A.M. Saturday at Sacred Heart/St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father Donahue Officiating.
Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery under the direction of Gabriel Funeral Home.
Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her parents Clara Prevost and David Moore Sr.; one son Nolton Jr., her husband Nolton Jones and 3 brothers and 3 sisters David Jr., Wallace, James, Susan, Augustine, and Eva Bell. She is survived by her devoted children Ann E. Henry; Clara (Elza) Bush; Rose Mary Coleman, and David Jones; brother, Frank Moore of Las Vegas, Nevada; 10 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
