Delores Ann Fischer
Delores Ann (Wells) Fischer, 61, of Houston departed this life Tuesday, October 23, 2007, at a Baytown hospital following a brief illness. Born on December 19, 1945, in Port Arthur, Texas, she was one of three daughters born to Wade and Edith Paton Wells. A 1963 graduate of Port Arthur-Thomas Jefferson High School, Delores worked for over 20 years in the business office of the San Jacinto College system. On March 4, 1967, she marriage the love of her life, Hilton Henry Fischer. Delores was a regular volunteer at St. Pius V Catholic School in Pasadena, where her granddaughter attended, and was known to all as "Nana." Preceded in death by her parents and son, Sterling Fischer, she is survived by her husband, Hank Fischer of Houston; son, Shawn Fischer of Baytown, daughter, Crystal Fischer and granddaughter, JaLynn Michelle Sanchez, both of Houston; sisters, Kathy Young and Wanda Wells, both of Port Neches.
Family will receive friends at Crespo & Jirrels Funeral Home, 6123 Garth Road, Baytown, Friday, from 5 to 8 p.m. with rosary recited at 7 p.m. Service of remembrance will be Saturday, October 27, 2007, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Crespo & Jirrels. Interment will follow at White Cemetery, Highlands. Honoring the family as pallbearers will be Kevin Wells, Gary Young, Colin Cobb, Trent Cobb, Charlie Easter, and Rick Canales.

Herman D. Jackson, Jr.
Herman D. Jackson, Jr. departed this life peacefully Thursday, October 18, 2007 at home.
Herman was born February 26, 1960 in Port Arthur to Herman D, and Ora M. Jackson. He was a graduate of Lincoln High School Class of 1978 (Cum Laude) a member of the Marching Band, Stage Band and several organizations on campus. Herman was employed by Gulf Oil as a chemical operator which later became Chevron Corp Retiring in 1995 with over 15 years of service.
Herman was preceded in death by his father Herman D. Jackson Sr. and his mother Ora M. Jackson, grandparents Willie B. and Rosa Jackson, and grandmother Mary H. Brown. He is survived by his brothers Steven Jackson and wife Cindy of Port Arthur, Mark Jackson of Lewisville, Texas, Ronnie Alexander and his wife Sharon of Houston, Texas, adopted in love son Brian Isadore, special and dear friend Edward Adams, life-long friend Tara Isadore, and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Visitation services will be held October 27, 2007 at 12:30 p.m. with funeral services to follow at 2:00 p.m. at the Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church, 501 West Thomas Blvd., Rev. Randy Vaughn officiating. Burial proceedings to follow at Johnson Cemetery.
Bro. Noah Fontenot
Early Thursday morning, October 18, 2007, Bro. Noah Fontenot passed from this life to his heavenly home. Brother Noah was the third of twelve children born to Cornelius and Elue Jack Fontenot on January 18, 1925, in Grand Prairie, Louisiana. He accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age at True Vine Baptist Church by Reverend A. Smith. Noah will be remembered for his love and compassion to his family and friends. He retired from the Local Union #843 after 40 years of service.
Brother Noah was preceded in death by is wife, Cecelia Fontenot, his parents, Cornelius and Elue Fontenot; four brothers, Aaron Fontenot, Stafford Fontenot, Calvin Fontenot and Alvin Fontenot; one sister Birtheasa Fontenot-Carter. Morning his departure, yet cherishing beautiful memories of his love are; two brothers, Cornelius Fontenot, Jr., of Port Arthur, Texas and Nolan Fontenot (Barbara) of Opelousas, Louisiana; four sisters, Louatice Prejean of Port Arthur, Texas, Meanetta Weber (Alex) of Port Arthur, Texas, Eva Guillory (Jesse) of Opelousas, Louisiana, and Anna Bell Malveaux (Harold) of Opelousas, Louisiana; a sister-in-law, Lillian Fontenot of Port Arthur, Texas and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. A visitation will be held at 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. with the funeral immediately following at First Sixth Street Baptist Church with the Reverend Wayne Morris officiating. Burial will follow at Live Oak Cemetery.

Albert Lee (Al) Long
Born on Saturday, November 17, 1928, in Nacogdoches, Texas, Al was living in Dallas when he passed into God's heavenly kingdom on Saturday, November 3, 2007, after a prolonged illness.
Al was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Arthur Lee Long and Mabel Wilson Long, and his loving wife of 59 years, Rose Mary Crawford Long. He is survived by his daughter Mary Long Davis and her husband Weldon Davis of Dallas, his daughter Lila Long Pond and her husband Paul Pond of Dallas, his son Tony Long and his wife Sharon of Dallas, his son Lee Long and his wife Charlotte of Fort Worth, fifteen grandchildren and their spouses, fifteen great-grandchildren, his niece Shirley Ann Holloway and her husband Tom of Houston, and his cousin Virginia Hannah of Marshall.
In 2004, Al and Rose Mary moved from Groves to Dallas to be near their children. A professional musician and music educator, Al gave his life to nurturing children in his positions as a school band director and school principal for 52 years, serving as band director at Groves Junior High School from 1951 – 1961, band director at Port Neches–Groves High School from 1961 – 1981, band director at Aztec New Mexico High School from 1982 – 1985, and band director and principal at Cathedral in the Pines Christian School in Beaumont from 1985 - 2000.
In addition to teaching and directing the musical interests of students, Al was an avid musician throughout his life, playing both the trumpet and french horn in church orchestras, symphonic orchestras and jazz ensembles in East Texas and Southeast Texas; and, Al continued in this venue when he moved to Dallas, by becoming an active member of the New Horizons Concert Band and Upswing, New Horizon's Stage Band, and by becoming a member of the brass section of the orchestra at First Presbyterian Church of Dallas.
Always active in his church, Al was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Dallas Texas at the time of his death. Al was a past member of First Methodist Church of Nacogdoches, First Methodist Church of Groves and Cathedral in the Pines in Beaumont.
As a music educator, Al always expected the best of himself and his students, resulting in in numerous State-level competition sweepstakes and first division awards for his bands and individual band members. Al held lifetime Texas Education Agency Certificates in all levels for Music, Secondary Math, Superintendent, Principal and Supervisor. Al was a Charter member of the Texas Music Adjudicators Association, a lifetime member of the American Radio Relay League, a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association, a member of the Texas Music Educators Association, a member of Phi Beta Mu International School Bandmaster Fraternity and a 32nd degree, 50 year member of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, Groves Lodge No. 1315, Groves, Texas.
In earlier years, Al attained the rank of Master Sergeant in the Texas Army National Guard. A kind and gentle man, passionate about his vocation and avocations, low-key and laid-back in all other things, God fearing and God loving, Al…, Dad to his children, Poppa to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and Uncle Albert to many, many ex students, will be loved, missed and remembered by all. Look out Gabriel, you now have competition for first chair on that horn!
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, November 9, 2007, at Levingston Funeral Home, 5601 39th Street, Groves, Texas. Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 10, 2007, at First United Methodist Church of Groves, 6501 Washington, Groves, Texas, with interment following at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves.
In celebration of Al's life, donations may be made to First Methodist Church of Groves or Cathedral in the Pines Christian Center, in Beaumont, in honor of Al Long.
Juliana Johnson
Juliana Johnson, 53, a native and former resident of Port Arthur and resided in Orange for the past 10 years, passed away, Thursday, October 25, 2007 at Houston Hospice in Houston.
Funeral Service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 27, 2007 at Claybar Funeral Chapel in Orange.
Officiating will be Mr. Mickey McNamara of 9th and Elm Church of Christ.
A visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, October 26, 2007 at the Funeral Home.
Entombment will follow at Orange Forest Lawn Mausoleum in West Orange.
Martin Parker "Reedy Deedy"
Services for Martin (Reedy Deedy) Parker will be Saturday, October 24th at Hannah East with Rev. Edith Neveaux officiating.

Bessie Lee Brewster Phillips
Bessie Lee Brewster Phillips, 76, of Littlefield, Texas died Wednesday, October 24, 2007 at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont, Texas. Bessie was born July 8, 1931 in Spur, Texas to Don H. Brewster and Annie Marie Horn Brewster. She was a lifelong resident of Littlefield, Texas and retired dorm mom from South Plains College in Levelland, Texas. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, October 28, 2007 at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves, Texas with Reverend Kerry Trahan officiating . Burial will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches, Texas. Visitation will be held on Saturday evening from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Don and Marie Brewster; sister, Dorothy Brewster; brothers, R.L. Brewster and Ted Brewster. Survivors include her daughters, Jan Watters and husband, Jimmy of Lumberton, Texas, Anita Thibodeaux and husband, Edward of Port Acres, Texas Jeananne Granger and husband, Standley of Crowley, Louisiana; son, Gary Dean Bryson and wife, Sharon of Whitharrall, Texas; sisters, Iris New of Aztec, New Mexico, Gladys Terry of Midland, Texas, Darla Bean of San Antonio, Texas; brother, D.H. Brewster of Van Horn, Texas; grandchildren, Jennifer Bryson, Nikki Bryson, Michelle Higginbotham, Jason Thibodeaux, Charlotte Gracedel, Stacey Diess, Derrell Granger, Jamie Laird, Jerrod Watters, Jessica Watters; and nine great- grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Jason Thibodeaux, Charlie Higginbotham, Paul Diess, Jerrod Watters, Tommy Cobb, and Aaron Laird. Honorary Pallbearer will be Derrell Granger.
Juliana Cole Johnson
ORANGE - Juliana Cole Johnson (Juli), 53, of Orange, TX, passed away on October 25, 2007, at Houston Hospice in Houston, TX.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 27, 2007, at Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Orange. Officiating will be Mr. Mickey McNamara Elder of 9th and Elm Church of Christ.
Entombment will follow will follow at Orange Forest Lawn Mausoleum in West Orange. Visitation will be 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Juli was born June 15, 1954, in Port Arthur, the daughter of Frank Gilbert Johnson and Beatrice Lanell (Scoggins) Johnson. A native of Port Arthur, TX, she resided in Orange since 1997. She retired from the local oil refineries as a Draftsman/ Electrical Designer after 20 years. Juli owned and operated St. Nick's Marina and Sailing School on the Sabine River. She was a past Commander of the Beaumont Power Squadron and later a loyal member of the Orange Sail and Power Squadron.
She was an adventurous traveler until her illness restricted her movements. She enjoyed internet shopping and spending joyous times with her grandchildren. Ms. Johnson was preceded in death by her father, Frank Johnson, and her brother, Gary Johnson. She is survived by her mother Lanell Johnson of Orange, her son Greg Sparks of Houston, TX, her daughter Kimberly Brown and husband Sam of Suffolk, VA, her companion Susan Quigley of Orange, her grandchildren, Nicholas Romines of Dimmitt, TX, and Samarri Brown of Suffolk, VA, and many loving family members.
Serving as pallbearers will be Scott Bossier, Jeffrey Scoggins, Mitchell Scoggins, Randy Lee, Ricky Lee, Nicholas Romines, Sam Brown and Tom Taylor. Those desiring to make memorial contributions may do so to the charity of their choice.
Veryl Licatino
Veryl Licatino, 64, of Nederland passed away on Friday, November 09, 2007 at her residence.
Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Broussard's in Nederland at 2:00 PM Monday, November 12, 2007. Interment will follow in Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches. A gathering of the family and friends will be from 5 to 8:00 PM Sunday at the mortuary.
Veryl Licatino was a native of Greensboro, North Carolina and lived in Nederland for over forty years. Veryl was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Licatino in March of this year.
Veryl is survived by her two daughters, Debra Licatino of Port Neches, Jennifer Kelly and husband Tommy of Silsbee; sons, Chuck Howerton and wife Tonia of Vidor, Joe Howerton and wife Lynette of Nederland; nine grandchildren, Cassie, Joshua, Cole, Jared, Courtney, Crista, Whitney, Justifer, Brandon; sisters-in-law, Rose Chappell, Antonette Noel, Jeanette Radford, Josie Condon; brothers-in-law, Vincent, Daniel and Donald Licatino; and a host of other relatives and friends.
