Loyce Angelle

Loyce (Henry) Angelle, 52 of Lafayette, LA, passed away at her home Saturday September 16, 2006 at 6:30 p.m.
Preceding her death was her father, Marion Henry; mother, Mildred (Plumber) Henry; and nephew, Eric Cormier. She leaves to cherish her memories her husband, James Angelle; 3 daughters, Jamie, Shelly, and Tonya Angelle; 3 brothers and families of Lafayette, LA; 2 sisters and families of Lafayette, LA; 1 brother and family of Waldoff, Maryland; 1 brother and family of Opelousas, LA; 2 sisters of Port Arthur, Cecile (Joseph Bertrand) Melancon and Isabelle (Joseph) Charlot of Port, TX. She also leaves behind Vicki, Lesia, and Danial Charlot, Ingrid, Joseph, and Jordan Melancon, all of Port Arthur, TX.
Visitation will be Friday September 22 from 4-10 p.m. at Melancon’s Funeral Home, 4117 North University, Carencro, LA. Funeral services will be Saturday September 23, 10 a.m. at St. John Berchmans Church, Cankton, LA, 576 Main St.

Jimmie Dorsey "J.T." Thomas

March 18, 1941 to September 19, 2006
PORT ARTHUR- Mr. Jimmie Dorsey "J.T." Thomas of Port Arthur, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, September 13, 2006 at Memorial Hermann Baptist Hospital after a long illness. A native of Beaumont, Texas, he was a resident of Port Arthur for over 50 years. Jimmie retired from Chevron Refinery in September of 2000 after 28 years of service. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Beaumont.
Survivors include three sons, Miles Cameron (Lakiesha) Thomas, Nicolas Christopher Thomas, and Jimmie Thomas, Jr., all of Port Arthur, Texas; daughter, Suzette Thomas-Brown of Raywood, Texas; four brothers, Rev. Richard Champagne of Fort Worth, Texas, Gary Joe (Mary) Champagne of Santa Maria, California, Reginald (Bernice) Champagne, and Terry Lynn (Debra) Champagne, both of Houston, Texas; seven granddaughters, Mandy Esme’ Malbrough of Dermott, Arkansas, Chaunte’ Marie Ramos-Thomas of Georgia, DeQuince’ Erin Brown and Johanna Cathryn Brown of Raywood, Texas, Madison Camryn Thomas of Port Arthur, Texas, Hannah Caitlyn Thomas and Aubry Tione Thomas both of Nederland, Texas; two grandsons, Jeremiah Fielder of Port Arthur, Texas, and Cameron Xavier of Nederland, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Johanna "Joyce" Thomas; mother, Lillian Champagne; father Houston "Ticky" Champagne; and a aunt, Mary Bennett. Visitation is scheduled from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m., Friday, September 22, 2006 at Gabriel Funeral Home Chapel. Service is scheduled for 11 a.m., Saturday, the 23rd at Gabriel Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Richard Champagne officiating. Burial will follow in Live Oak Cemetery under the direction of Gabriel
Funeral Home.

Jimmie Logsdon

NEDERLAND - Jimmie Logsdon, 74, of Nederland died at Renaissance Hospital on Tuesday, September 19, 2006, after a seven-year battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Jimmie was born in Beaumont, Texas on October 23, 1931, to Brick and Nellie Logsdon. he was employed by Lamb Printing Company, where he met his wife Janet. They were married in 1964 and had two children. He later was employed by Houston Chemical Company and Unocal.
Jimmie was an avid fisherman and loved the outdoors. He loved his Dallas Cowboys and motor sports, more specifically, Dale Earnhardt and playing dominoes. He enjoyed spending time with his family and when the grandchildren came, he spoiled them like crazy.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Janes; one daughter, Robbie Rinehart and husband, Jeff; one son, Ray Logsdon and wife Rachelle; 4 grandchildren, Shelby and Shaena Rinehart, Trent and Nikki Logsdon, all of Nederland; one brother, John Logsdon and wife, Judy of Missouri City and special caregiver, Linda Weeks of Beaumont.
A gathering of friends and family will be Thursday, September 21st from 5 to 7 pm at Heritage Funeral Home in Nederland. Funeral services will be Friday, September 22, at Heritage Funeral Home at 4 pm with burial to follow at Memory Gardens in Nederland.
The family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Allen Williamson for his superb care and unselfish support. Also special thanks to Father Shane Baxter, Dr. Harvey Randolph and the staff at Hyberbaric & Wound Care, Promise Hospital, Preferred Home Health, Stat Care, and Dr. Tom Konjoyan and the staff at Renaissance Hospital for taking such great care of Jimmie and family. Joe Daniel Allen, II

BEAUMONT - Joe Daniel Allen, II, 41, of Beaumont passed away Friday, June 30, 2006, at his father’s residence in Port Neches due to complications after major reconstructive surgery. Joe was born on June 9, 1965, in Port Arthur, Texas, to Ida Liee’ "Kitty" Allen and Joe D. Allen, M.D. He was a lifelong area resident and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1983. After graduation, Joe received a scholarship to play golf, his true passion, at San Jacinto Community College in Houston. After two years Joe transferred to Lamar University in Beaumont and graduated in 1987 with a degree in Sociology. Joe later became a Pharmaceutical Sales Representative with Johnson & Johnson for sixteen years earning numerous honors and awards and making lasting friendships with many of the doctors he served. But, no matter what Joe was doing in life, he always found time to play golf. Joe began his passion for golf under the tutelage of Marty Fleckman starting at the early age of eight. He literally grew up at the Port Arthur Country Club, once shooting a 64; at that time being seven under par. His love of golf earned him many awards over the years. Joe was an able surfer and had enjoyed surfing on beaches from Newport, California to Costa Rica. Most important to Joe were his many beloved friends and family to which his loyalty never wavered. His home was always filled with music and friends, along with his dog Jack. His knowledge of film and music was extensive and a great source of pleasure and inspiration for him. He left us too soon and there was so much everyone wanted to say before he left, but Joe knew he was loved and he will be missed by everyone who knew him. Services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 5, 2006, at Clayton-Thompson Funeral Home in Groves with Rev. Bennie Patillo officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves. A gathering of friends and family will take place from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, July 4, 2006, at the funeral home.Joe is survived by his parents, "Kitty" Allen of Port Arthur and Joe D. Allen, M.D. of Port Neches; sisters, Lisa Wolfe and her husband David of Piedmont, California and Jo Beth Shirley and her husband Jon of Reno, Nevada; nieces, Anna Shirley, Madeline Wolfe and Will Wolfe. Joe also leaves behind his special friend, Janice Calhoun of Groves. Serving as Pallbearers will be, Paddy Doyle, Brent Duhon, Richard Rice, Ty Badon, Bennie Epperson, Giles Kibbe, Clay Sutherland, Steve Durso and Scotty LaRue. Honorary Pallbearers will be Todd Dodge, Rob Berry, Billy Sharp, Bryan Duhon, Lee Comeaux, Ray Espree, Eric Reynolds, Eli Roberts, Jimmy Kimmey, Calvin Parker, Mike Parker, Sean Healy, Jack Anniboli and Diane Hastings. The Allen family would like to thank all of Joe’s friends, co-workers and his golfing mentors for all the love and support they gave him throughout his forty-one years, you will not be forgotten by us or by Joe. A Golf Scholarship fund is being established in honor of Joe Daniel Allen, II.

Mr. Ernest John "E.J." Baron, Jr.

PORT ARTHUR - Mr. Ernest John "E.J." Baron, Jr., 92, of Port Arthur died Saturday, July 1, 2006 at the Community Retirement Home in Port Arthur. Mr. Baron was born October 5, 1913 in Eagle Pass, Texas to Ernest and Elvira San Miguel Baron. He had lived in Port Arthur since 1920. Mr. Baron attended school in Eagle Pass and attended school at Port Arthur College and Lamar Tech. He joined Texaco in Port Arthur in 1936, where he had worked in the shipping, general office department and the accounting and employee relations division. He went on to retire as employment supervisor at the Port Neches and Port Arthur Texaco with 44 years of service. Mr. Baron was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Port Arthur, a WWII U.S. Army veteran, and after WWII, he became a board member of the advisory board for the Veterans Hospital in Houston. He was a past commander of the American Legion post 7, a past scout master for the Boy Scouts, member of the Port Arthur Commodores, Lions Club and Chef de Gar Jefferson County Voiture 312, he served on the board of directors for the Salvation Army and helped with Calvocade. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 5, 2006 at 10:00 AM at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves. Entombment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Port Arthur. Visitation will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 PM on Tuesday, July 4, 2006 at Levingston Funeral Home. Mr. Baron was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel. He is survived by a son, Dr. John Baron of Los Gatos, California; two sisters-in-law, Loraine Dunham of Port Arthur and Mildred Long of Vernon, TX; brother-in-law, Wayne Dunham of Port Arthur; two granddaughters, Courtney Leigh Baron of Santa Barbara, CA and Ashley Austin Baron of Los Angeles, CA. A gathering of friends and family will take place from 2:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 5, 2006, at Clayton-Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. A Memorial Service will be conducted at 4:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home. Cremation will take place at Haven of Rest Crematory in Beaumont.

Laura Stoute Lalonde

LEONVILLE – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Tuesday, July 4, 2006, at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church in Leonville for Laura Stoute Lalonde, 76, who died Saturday, July 1, 2006 in Arnaudville. Entombment will follow in the Church Mausoleum in Leonville. A hairdresser for 35 years, Mrs. Lalonde was faithful in attending church and volunteered for many church activities. She also attended rosary groups and sang at the nursing home. She was a mighty prayer warrior. Many of her friends and relatives would often go to her in their need of prayer. Survivors include her sister, Jeanette Stoute Guidry and husband Stanley Guidry, Sr. of Arnaudville; her beloved nephew, Stanley Guidry, Jr. of Arnaudville and his children, Aaron Guidry of Carencro and Joshua Guidry of Alabama; her beloved niece Lisa Huval and husband Randy of Arnaudville and their children Jamie and Amanda Huval of Arnaudville; her beloved petdog, "Max". She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Lalonde; 4 baby sons; parents, Hulin and Ida Quebedeaux Stoute; brother, Joseph Stoute. The family requested that visiting hours be observed from 3:30PM on Monday until 10:00 PM, in the church hall in Leonville. Visitation will continue Tuesday, from 8:00 AM until time of service. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 PM Monday. Pellerin Funeral Homes of Breaux Bridge, 332-2111 is in charge of arrangements.

Vernon Joseph Landry (Joe)

PORT ARTHUR - Vernon Joseph (Joe) Landry of Port Arthur passed away December 17, 2006. He was born January 3, 1937 in Port Arthur, TX to Claude and Verna Landry. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Groves, TX.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on December 20, 2006 at First Baptist Church Groves with Dr. Joe Worley, Bro. Charles Miller and Dr. Bill Dye officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches. The pallbearers will be John Bass, Bart Bragg, Kenneth Broussard, Leo Hebert, Jimmy Laurents, Glen Provost, and Glenn Thibodeaux. Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of First Baptist Church, Groves, TX. A gathering of family and friends will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 19, 2006 at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves. Please join us for a time of reminiscing and fellowship at 6:30 p.m. Joe was a 1956 graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School. After serving in the U.S. Army, Joe received a B.A. from Lamar University, two M.A.’s and an administrative certification. He began his 35 year career in public school education as a government teacher in the Port Arthur ISD at Stephen F. Austin High School and then served as Director of Student Activities, Counselor and Assistant Principal. He was a diagnostician at Woodrow Wilson prior to becoming principal of Lamar School. He eventually retired from education after serving in the Wyndham School System as a counselor at the Stiles Unit.
Following retirement, Joe became an active voluntary chaplain in the prison system. He was instrumental in setting up the Hospice Program at Stiles. He also taught parenting classes for Juvenile Probation and Catholic Charities. Throughout the years, he developed many close relationships with people and has had a tremendous impact on many lives - often people that others might consider insignificant or care little about. A young lady recently said, "Joe Landry was the only person in my 18 years who expressed concern for me and gave me direction for my life." He was currently teaching a parenting class and a class on "Hope in Times of Trouble." His heart was always to serve others and encourage them to trust the Lord Jesus Christ with all of their heart, mind and soul. Joe particularly loved serving the Lord through ministries at FBC Groves. He was an active deacon, the Director of Adult 4 Sunday School Department and served as part of the Kitchen Crew. He enjoyed participating in church-wide events as an organizer and worker.
He will be remembered also for his passion for music-singing in the church choir, playing the bass guitar and bobbing his head to the golden oldies. Joe is survived by his wife, of 38 years, Beth Landry; daughter, Melissa Ware of Port Neches; Holly Landry of San Francisco, CA; granddaughter, Maegan Elysabeth Ware of Port Neches, TX; brothers, Billy Landry of New Iberia, LA and Bud Landry of Fannett, TX.
