Terry Linn Martin "Lipp"
Terry Linn Martin, 31, of Katy and Port Arthur, TX passed away September 13, 2006 following a car accident in Louisiana.
He graduated from Lincoln High School, Port Arthur, Texas in 1993. He attended Lamar College Port Arthur. He also attended Beaumont Engineering School.
He was a member of Eastern Star Missionary Baptist Church. His funeral service will be held at Eastern Star Baptist Church on Saturday, September 23, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. A wake will precede the service from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at the church.
He leaves to cherish his memories: Parents, Phillip and Velma Ruth "Apple" Martin; two sons, Trayvon Tyrell Martin of Beaumont, TX and Christopher Zion Martin of Port Arthur, TX; fiancé, Tracie L. Martel of Katy, TX; two brothers, Sgt. Randy (Lindsey) Martin stationed in Korea and Derrick (Anna) Martin of Houston, TX; three sisters, Tracie Juanette Martin of Port Arthur, TX, Phyllis Samantha Martin and Tammy Martin of Baytown, TX; his grandmother, Mrs. Thelma "Nanny" Small of Port Arthur, TX; and a host of relatives and friends.
Wilbert Crachain
PORT ARTHUR - Wilbert Crachain, 76, died on Saturday, Sept. 16, 2006. He was a native of Plaisance, Louisiana and a resident of Port Arthur for 60 years. He retired from Coke Cola with 42 years of service and the Pompano Club with 21 years of service. Service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 24th at the First Sixth Baptist Church with Rev. Vernon Hudson officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the service at 2:00 p.m. Gabriel Funeral Home will be in charge of the arrangements.
He is survived by his wife, Gladys; sons, Wilbert Jr., Broderick of Houston, TX, Kevin (Ingrid) of Fremont, CA, Leonard Harrison (Tammy) of Orange, TX, Patrick Harris of Port Arthur, TX; daughters, Sharnetta Batiste (Jonathan) of Palms, CA, Shelia Tyler (Eugene) of Port Arthur, TX, Twana Body of Sugarland, TX and Sandra Venison (Bruce) of Port Arthur, TX. He is also survived by his brothers, Mitchell and Davis Malveaux (Nellie) of Houston, TX; sisters, Willa M. Dugas, Ella Rodgers (Eric) of Port Arthur, TX, Uranell Johnson (Emile) and Annie Mae Preston of Houston, TX and Viola Jones of Beaumont, TX and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and friends.
Ottis "Bill" Schrader
PORT ARTHUR - Mr. Ottis "Bill" Schrader, 77, passed away on Thursday, September 21, 2006 at his residence. Visitation will be on Friday, September 22, 2006 from 5 P.M. until 7 P.M. at Grammier - Oberle Funeral Home. A private burial will be held by the family.
Bill was a native of Malden, MO; he was born on July 29, 1929 to parents George Schrader and Nina Bowman Schrader. He was a resident of Port Arthur for over 50 years. He retired from Quantum, formerly as Arco Polymers, in 1993 after 35 years of service. Mr. Schrader was a loving husband and father who will be missed dearly by all who knew him.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years Peggy Schrader of Port Arthur, one son Craig Schrader and his wife Debbie of Nederland, Texas.
Barbara A.Phillips-Jones "T-Bobby"
PORT ARTHUR - God saw you getting tired and cure was not to be. So he put his arms around you and whispered "Come to me" with tearful eyes we watched you and saw you pass away. And although we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay. She went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Christmas Day. She succumbed to a lengthy illness but fought a good fight. Barbara has touched the lives of everyone that she met. She was an inspiration to many people.
Barbara is survived by three children; Felicia Jones, Lemuel Jones Jr. (Rocky), Anthony "Tony" Jones (Crystal). She will be missed by her brother Wallace Phillips (Iris), her sister Doris Goudeau (W.B.); her grandchildren, Jhe’rod Jones and Darius Edwards. Barbara will be fondly remembered by her adopted family members: Peter Marcel, Crystal Edwards, Noah Sims, Jimmy Edwards, DeJa Marcel. She also leaves behind a devoted companion Walter Commins. She will be missed by her friend and father of her children Lemuel Jones, Sr. Barbara will forever be on the minds of a host of family and friends, nieces and nephews, and her cherished classmates of Lincoln High School class of 1958 of which she was Mrs. Lincoln of 1958.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wallace and Hester Phillips and her son, Stephen Jones. A Celebration of her life and wonderful spirit will be held Saturday, December 29, 2007 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Port Arthur, TX. There will be a viewing of the body from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Funeral services will begin at 10:00 a.m.
Robert Calvin Lewis
Sabine Pass - Robert Calvin Lewis of Sabine Pass, Tx. departed this life December 22, 2007. A native of Sabine Pass, he resided there approximately 60 years. He served in the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Coast Guard. He was preceded in death by his mother and father Genoa and Frank Lewis and his oldest sister Brenda Fentroy.
A visitation is scheduled for 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Services starts at 11:00 at Gabriel Funeral Home Chapel, Saturday December 29, 2007. Burial will follow at Sabine Pass Cemetery. He leaves to cherish his memory a loving and devoted companion Rose Mary Robichaux; one daughter Rose Gobert (Perry); one son Jeffery Keith Lewis (Belinda); five sisters Corine Mitchell, Nancy Allison, Charlotte Lewis, Patricia Allison, and Roxie Pearson (Robert); one brother Kenneth Lewis and a half brother Henry Marks; Three grandchildren and a host of Nieces and Nephews.
Calvin Wade Sperling

Calvin W. Sperling was born in Port Arthur, Texas, on June 4th, 1951. He died at the Veterans Hospital in Detroit, Michigan on December 18th, 2007. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1969. He moved to Detroit, Michigan and enlisted in the United States Air Force and served as the First Black American Air Traffic Controller.
On January 3, 1972, he married Marsha Gail Smith and to that union, three children were born. He attained an Associates Degree from Highland Park Community College and attended Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. He was employed by Chrysler Motors and Michon Gas Co. and later became a self-employed Electrician. A visitation is scheduled from 12 noon until 2:00 pm Saturday, December 29, 2007 and funeral will follow at 2:00 pm at Gabriel Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Eugene Trice officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery under the direction of Gabriel Funeral Home. He leaves to cherish his memory; mother, Gloria A. Hughes of Port Arthur; father, Gilbert Sperling; Uncle Frederick and Aunt Joeyette of Compton, CA; former-wife, Marsha; Children, Tawanna Moss (Clifton), Tabrina Rieves (Joe), Calvin Sperling II, Tamekia Sperling all of Detroit, MI; Brothers, Kenneth, Michael, and Jerome Sperling of Port Arthur; Sisters, Cindy Christopher of Beaumont, Cheryl Mann (Bill Hilbring) of Port Arthur; Nephews, Patrick (Hollie) Palmer, Preston Palmer, Julian Christopher and Zachary Mann Jr. Keithen Sperling preceded him in death. 9 Grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Lula Richard
Lula Richard, the Lord’s good and faithful servant, died December 26, 2007 after a lengthy illness. Born Lula Landry on April 7, 1917 in Maurice, LA, she can best be remembered as a wonderful mother, loyal friend and the woman that fed hundreds of kids and many teachers at Travis Elementary School Cafeteria in Port Arthur, TX from 1967 to 1989 when she retired at 72 years old. In 2002, she began volunteering with RSVP. She is survived by a sister, Velta Richard of Port Arthur, TX; a son, Ansel and Bonnie Richard of Arvada, CO.; a daughter, Sandra and Clark Collier of Beaumont, TX. There are four grandchildren, Michelle and Neil Mekelburg, Lanny and Amber Richard of Colorado; Hope and Mike Thomas of Tennessee and Amanda Collier of Beaumont, TX. She was blessed with four great-grandchildren, Theron and Gage Mekelburg of Colorado; Lane and Lauren Thomas of Tennessee; and a step great-grandchild, Brandon Ghiasi of Colorado.
Visitation will be from 3:00 PM to 6:30 PM with a Rosary at 4:00PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves, TX on Saturday, December 29th . Funeral service will be held on Sunday, December 30th at 2:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to M. D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX.
S.L. Lambert
NEDERLAND - S. L. Lambert, 72, of Nederland, Texas, passed away on December 27, 2007 at Promise Hospital in Nederland, Texas.
He is survived by his wife, Agnes Lambert of Nederland; sons: Thomas K. Lambert and wife, Liz, of Nederland; Gordon R. Lambert and wife, Katrina, of Nederland; daughters: Lea E. Hale of Waxahachie and Lynette E. Atchison and husband, Sammy, of Nederland; brothers: Bobby Lambert of Jasper and Dean Lambert of Nederland; sisters: Faye Thibodeaux of Nederland and Mollie Simpson of Port Neches, and brother-in-law: Nathan Geisendorff and wife, Betty, of Spring. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents Chester and Mollie Lambert; brother, Thomas R. Lambert and sister, Thelma Hawthorne. Mr. Lambert retired from Texaco Chemical as a Process Operator. He received an honorable discharge from the United States Navy after five years of service. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, December 28 at Heritage Funeral Home in Nederland. Funeral service will be Saturday, December 29 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel at Heritage Funeral Home, with Pastor Danny Cheney officiating. Burial to follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches.
Mary Jim Kittrell "Jimmie"
Mary Jim "Jimmie" Kittrell, 82, passed away Thursday, December 27, 2007, in Groves. Funeral service will be 3:00 p.m., Saturday, December 29, 2007, at Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Orange. Reverend Daniel Rose of Community Church in Orange will officiate. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange.
Visitation will be 5:00-9:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Jimmie was born July 4, 1925, in Troy, AL, the daughter of James David and Julia Spradley Youngblood. Jimmie was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Richard Kittrell in 1984.
During Jimmie and Carl’s marriage, they shared a deep love for the principles of the Order of the Eastern Star, both having served in many offices in Orange Chapter 214. At the state level, her selection as Grand Ruth was testimony of her devotion to the local chapter and the Grand Chapter of Texas. She continued attending meetings until her health prevented participation. Jimmie was an avid sports fan following her grandsons through their participation in athletics. Her love of baseball led to her devotion to the Atlanta Braves.
Two of her favorite hobbies were fishing on Lake Sam Rayburn and gardening. She is survived by her sons Kenneth Kittrell and wife Sharon of Yorktown, VA; James David Kittrell and wife Linda of Tyler, TX; daughters, Gloria McKee of Orange, TX; Lyndell Hodgkinson and husband Cecil of Bridge City, TX; and step-son, Edward Kittrell and wife Joan of Naples, FL; grandchildren, Kevin and Anne Kittrell and their children, Samuel, Ben and Emma; Kimberly and Steve George and their children, Brooke, Leyton and Addison; Jayson and Mindy McKee and their son Peyton; Stuart McKee; Andy and Leslie Kittrell and their sons Dawson and Drew; Jonathan and Dionne Kittrell and their son Brenden; Kenny Kittrell; Carol and Jon Benton; Rick and Marla Dearing and their children, Jake, Derick and Carlee; Clint Hodgkinson and children, Tyler and Haley; and Philip and Angela Hodgkinson.
Serving as pallbearers will be her nine grandsons.
