Nita Faye Wicks, 64, of Paris passed away June 7, 2009 in Paris Regional Medical Center. She was born on August 20, 1944 in Memphis, Tx. a daughter of Chester Lawson Phillips and Geneva Nunley. She was a medical technician and a member of wayside Church of God in Christ.
Survivors include a son Don Perkins; grandchildren Kameron, Zoey, and Jonah; sisters Sandra Adkison and Melva Meridyth; and a host of other relatives.
Services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Friday at the Wayside Church of God In Christ with Rev. Rondie Williams officiating.
Donald McLaughlin

DONALD McLAUGHLIN 86, longtime Paris attorney and civic leader, passed away Monday, June 8, 2009. Funeral services are set for 10:00 AM, Thursday, June 11, 2009 in the chapel of Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home with Rev. Van Lazaroff and Rev. Ray Starnes officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 PM Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.
Mr. McLaughlin was born July 28, 1922 in Centerville, Texas to J.T. and Erna Eddins McLaughlin. As a child, he attended Jewett public schools followed by Stephen F. Austin State Teachers College in Nacogdoches. He graduated in 1942 during the height of World War II and so immediately entered the United States Navy. After training at Columbia University, he received his commission and shipped out for destroyer duty, which included being overseas 27 months in the Pacific Theater.
His destroyer met with considerable action; one particular engagement with a Japanese Kamikaze earned him the Bronze Star. In addition, he received 10 battle stars, and retired from the naval reserves in 1964 with the rank of Commander.
In 1945, McLaughlin married
Norma Neuville of Neuville, Texas. After the war, the coupled moved to Austin where Don enrolled in the University of Texas School of Law, graduating with a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree in March, 1949.
Paris, Texas became their next home as Don took a position working with local attorney O.B. Fisher in Paris and thus began his law career.
Shortly after moving to Paris, he and Norma placed membership at the First United Methodist Church, where Don taught the Couples Class for 51 years, and served on the Board of Stewards for several years.
In 1951, Don was elected president of the Paris Jaycees. He also served on the Chamber of Commerce Board for 9 years. In 1953, he worked to preserve the new city charter in an election, and in 1957-58, served as chairman of the annual Heart Fund Drive.
He served as co-chairman of the professional division of the United Fund Drive, the committee to re-zone Paris, and later assisted when the re-zoning job was done in the early 1980s. A member of the Rotary Club, he served as its president, was an Odd Fellow member and a 1988 Paul Harris Fellow. Additionally, Don was a president of the Lamar County Bar association, a director of the McCuistion Hospital board, and a director of Liberty National Bank. He represented the Lamar County Water Board and the Paris Independent School District for many years. He also represented Paris Junior College and Evergreen cemetery. Don was president, owner, and director of Stone Title Company until 1981.
Don is survived by his wife, Norma McLaughlin of Paris; two daughters, Donna Jones and husband, Reid of La Junta, Colorado and Brenda Anthony and husband, Bobby of Paris; son-in-law, Tony Hutto of Paris; sisters, Hazel Robeson and Jean Holmes, both of Jewett; 9 grandchildren, Steve Jones, Mark Jones, Brad Jones and wife, Leah, Jennifer Sandoval and husband, Anthony, Denise Moffitt and husband, Michael, Deanna England, Scott Biard and wife, Shannon, Will Biard and wife, Anne, and Don Biard. He was also the proud great-grandfather of 9 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Anne Hutto and a brother, Sidney McLaughlin.
Pallbearers will be Scott Biard, Will Biard, Philip Cecil, Brad Hutchison, Brad Jones and Michael Moffitt. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Jim Brunette, Robert Campbell, A.W. Clem, Jimmy Hickman, Tom Hunt, Bill Oakley, Jeff Starnes and Dickie Towers.

John Bailey age 55 of Paris passed away at his residence on June 6, 2009. He was born on February 23, 1954 in Pontiac, Michigan a son of George and Ruth Borer Bailey. Burial was in Lamar County cemetery.
Dwayne Blanton

Dwayne Thomas Blanton, 39, of Bagwell passed away June 7, 2009 in Red River County. He was born on April 21, 1970 in Dallas a son of Larry Thomas and Gay Beth Williams Blanton. He served in the U.S. Army, was a Baptist, and was a carpenter.
He is survived by his wife Kimberly Smith Blanton whom he married
on June 15, 1989 in Bagwell; children Thomas Wayne Blanton, Johnathan Dwayne Blanton, Kimberly Shyanne Blanton; his parents Larry Thomas and Gay Beth Blanton; brother Larry Don Blanton; sisters Toni Kocurek and Neonia Gay McDaniel; 7 step brothers Ricky Yeley, Jeff Yeley, David Yeley, Tommy Yeley, Rusty Yeley, Larry Yeley, and Lee Yeley; grandfather Joe Thomas Blanton;numerous other relatives and friends.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Thursday in the Union Grove cemetery with Rev. John McCollister officiating. Pallbearers will be Doy Glass, B.J. Yeley, Ricky Yeley, Thomas Blanton, Johnathan Blanton, and Jeff Jones. Honorary pallbearers will be Sammy Winkle and Wayne Glass.
William "Bill" Eudy

William A. “Bill” Eudy, 71, of Paris passed away at Malstrom Air Force Base in Great Falls, Montana on June 6, 2009.
He was born on June 29, 1937 in Paris a son of William L. and Neva Crutchfield Eudy. Mr. Eudy retired from the U.S. Air Force after 20 years of service. He was a member of Ramseur Baptist Church.
Survivors include his spouse Delores Ferguson Eudy of Paris; children Terry Pendergrass of Paris, Larry Eudy and wife Tina of Salina, Kansas; brother Leroy Eudy; 4 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Friday in the chapel of Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home with Rev. John Brown and Rev. Don Morton officiating. Burial will follow in the Evergreen cemetery with military honors provided by Barksdale AFB Honor Guard. Family will receive friends from 7 till 8 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home.

Helen Fay Price, 72 of Paris, passed away Thursday, June 4, 2009 at her residence.
Graveside services were held on Saturday, June 6, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at Mt. Tabor cemetery officiated by Rev. George Flowers. Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
She is survived by her children, Nona Martinez and husband Andrew, Virginia Brown, Elizabeth Sneed and husband Jerry, Butch Hubble and wife Debbie, Nathan Clay Hubble, Dale Hubble and wife Christy, John Ray Hubble and wife Bridgette; 20 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roscoe Clay and Nona Inez Brannon Swofford; a daughter, Helen Vern Hubble; grandson, Joshua Clay Hubble.
Kim Dwain Vance

Kim Dwain Vance, 61, went to his eternal home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 4, 2009 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Kim was born on April 22, 1948, to J. Eldon Vance and Bessie L. Vance in Lamesa, TX, where they farmed and ranched. Kim attended Dawson School in Welch, TX, before the Vance family moved to a ranch in Paris, TX in 1964. Kim graduated from Paris High School in 1966. He attended Paris Jr. College and graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a BA degree in Mathematics in 1970.
Kim married
his first love and soul mate, Abbigail Bryant Vance on June 1, 1969 in Paris TX. Kim and Abbi were devoted to God and each other for 40 years. They celebrated their anniversary in the hospital last Monday, June 1, 2009.
Kim’s spiritual gifts included Encouraging and Serving/Ministry. He encouraged and ministered to everyone he met. He also enjoyed serving in the Single Adult Ministry at First Baptist Church of Carrollton for a number of years, and on the Parking Team at Stonebriar Community Church most recently.
Kim was employed by Conoco in Ponca City, OK; Computer Sciences Corporation in Dallas, TX; Texas Instruments in Dallas, TX; including other Informational Technology-related companies: Tacit Network, D-Tech Corporation, SANcastle Technologies, REAL Applications, and Avaya over his 36-year career.
Kim is survived by his wife, Abbigail Bryant Vance of Frisco, TX; his parents, J. Eldon and Bessie L. Vance of Paris, TX; brother Rick Vance and wife Dianne of Winnsboro, TX; sister Jan Johnson and husband David of Colleyville, TX; sister Melody Vance Taylor and husband Bob of Powderly, TX; Aunt Mary Robinson of Paris, TX; Uncle Dorman Vance and wife Louise of Grand Prairie, TX. Kim is also survived by several cousins, nieces, and nephews, and many friends.
Kim’s life was an example of the kind of love described in 1 Corinthians 13…Love that is patient and kind, does not envy or boast, is not proud, rude, self-seeking, or easily angered. It keeps no record of wrongs, does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, trusts, hopes, and perseveres. It never fails. Kim persevered through great adversity and his love never failed anyone as a husband, son, brother and friend. Kim always put the well-being of others above his own. Kim will forever live in our hearts and he will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
There will be a Memorial Service for Kim Dwain Vance on Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at 10 a.m. at Stonebriar Community Church, 4801 Legendary Drive, Frisco, TX 75034 (469-252-5200).

Coby Don Russell-McDonald, of Paris, passed from this life into the arms of Jesus shortly after birth on Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at Paris Regional Medical Center.
Graveside services are scheduled for 3:00 P.M. Saturday, June 6, 2009 at Mt. Tabor cemetery with Rev. Curtis Blake officiating. Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
