GERALDINE “Geri” STANFIELD WALKER 63, a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend left this world at 8:35 AM, Saturday, September 5, 2009 to be with her Heavenly Father. A graveside service is set for 2:00 PM, Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at Mount Vernon cemetery with Rev. Ralph Taylor and Rev. Al Clark officiating. No formal visitation hour will be observed. Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.
Geri was born February 26, 1946 to Leonard and Edith Stanfield. She was a loving, caring, stay at home mother until her children became teenagers. At that point she went to work as assistant manager at Goodwill Industries and later entered into the healthcare field until she retired.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Jewel Stanfield; sister, Helen Green; and infant son, Billy Walker, Jr. Survivors include two daughters, Sheila Carroll and husband, Brad; and Tina Harbert and husband, Rodney; four grandchildren, Tasha and Tyler Carroll and Megan and Logan Bohanan; sister, Duetta Hoskins and husband, J.A. Hoskins; two brothers, Delbert Stanfield and Wilburn Stanfield; niece, Tammy Hoskins; nephew, Allen Hoskins; great-nieces and nephews, Stacy McCoy, Stephen Hoskins, Jay Hoskins V; and great-great-niece and nephew, Kaylyn and Zackary McCoy.
Mom, you were not just a mother, a sister, or a grandmother; you were our best friend. We can’t say goodbye, so we’ll say until we meet again.
Troy Lee Weaver

Troy Lee Weaver, 84, of Barry, Texas passed away September 3, 2009 in Twilight Home Nursing Center in Corsicana.
He was born on January 28, 1925 in Corpus Christi a son of Charles Lee and Annie Gertrude Wallace Weaver. Troy worked for many years as credit manager for Sears, retired as manager from Firestone Tires, served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and was a member of Ramseur Baptist Church.
He married
the former Dorothy Middleton on December 24, 1946. She preceded him in death on January 31, 2008. Troy was also preceded in death by his parents; a daughter Shirley Weaver; brothers Leonard Weaver, James “Jigs” Weaver, and Edwin Weaver; sister Doris Sale.
Surviving are his children Pam Weaver of Barry and Terry Weaver of Ft. Worth; grandchildren Mark and Amanda Weaver of Frisco and David Weaver and April Draper of Ft. Worth; brother Gary Weaver and wife, Wilma of Powderly; sisters Pauline Salomon and Barbara Keller of Forest Chapel; a sister-in-law, Catherine Weaver and a special friend, Elmerene Taylor of Paris.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, September 6, 2009 in the Long cemetery with Kenneth Keller officiating. Pallbearers will be Josh Keller, Randy Keller, Billy McElyea, Richard McElyea, Jimmie McElyea, and Teddy Gibson. Military honors will be provided by the U.S. Navy Honor Guard. Family will receive friends from 7 till 8 P.M. Saturday.
Bobbie Jean Campbell Parsons

Bobbie Jean Campbell Parsons passed away peacefully in her home on Wednesday, September 2, 2009 in Belk, Texas.
A funeral service will be held at Belk United Methodist Church at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 4, 2009. The family will receive friends Thursday evening, September 3, 2009, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home.
Bobbie was born on March 5, 1932 to Katie Hunter Campbell and Daymon Campbell in Forest Chapel, Texas. She married
her husband, Leo Parsons, on February 4, 1950 in Hugo, Oklahoma.
Bobbie was a 1950 graduate and Class President of Chicota High School. She was a dedicated member of Belk United Methodist Church. Bobbie spent her life devoted to her family as a homemaker, as well as being a model public servant in many community associations and activities. Bobbie was a member and leader of United Methodist Women, League of Women Voters, Lamar County Democratic Party, Tejas Garden Club of Paris, Texas and Paris Council of Garden Clubs, Chicota High School PTA, School Board of Chicota, Garretts Bluff Community Center, Child Welfare Board of Lamar County, the American Red Cross, North Lamar Parish Vacation Bible School, as well as many other areas of service. She and her husband co-owned and operated The Dinner Bell Restaurant and Red River Valley Seed Farm. Bobbie was a leader and organizer in the Ann Richards Gubernatorial Campaign, one of her proudest efforts.
Fabulous cook and maker of perfect fried chicken and pecan pies, Bobbie cooked for many at the annual Garretts Bluff 4th of July Chicken Fry. She provided full course meals from the trunk of her car to countless farm workers in the Chicota river bottom and served dessert and Blue Bell ice cream to almost every person who ever entered her home. She was remarkable.
Survivors of Mrs. Parsons include her husband Leo Parsons; her three children and their spouses, JoAnna and Chuck Armstrong of Paris, Texas, Robert and Sherry Parsons of Taos, New Mexico, and Karen and Paul LaPier of Tulsa, Oklahoma; her grandchildren Michael Crabtree, Katharine Ashby, Zachary Nash, Ashley Rolshoven, and Marissa and Christina LaPier; her great-grandchildren, Isaac, Ava, and Colt; her brothers, Jimmy Campbell and wife Charlene, Jerry Campbell and wife Marie; her sister Judy Looney, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
The family would like to thank the members of the Belk community and the Belk United Methodist Church, caregivers Patty Slagle and Gina Farmer, Victor Foster, and Theo and Virginia Lenore for their help and support during times of need.

JERRY CARL SHANNON passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at the age of 63. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, September 6, 2009 at Calvary United Methodist Church at 3105 Lamar Avenue with Rev. Beverly Olsen officiating. Mr. Shannon was living in Winnsboro, Texas with his wife, Teresa Shannon. They were married
on September 17, 1994 in Nevada. He was a psychologist for 27 years in addition to an accomplished jeweler and goldsmith.
He was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. He was a strong man who loved his family, friends, and the beauty of life. Jerry Carl had a great love of his country. One of Jerry Carl’s most treasured times was when he was able to sit and watch the lightning shows during a thunderstorm. He was a man who had a great love for the outdoors and all of God’s creatures. Jerry Carl had a deep love for all his family and friends, but most of all he had an unending love for his beautiful wife, Teresa, his “Mousie”.
Jerry Carl is survived by his loving wife, Teresa Shannon; his four children: Lorin Brown and husband, Mark, Robbie Aguilar and wife, Mindy, Miki Clements and husband, Sean, and Rachel Pound and husband, Aaron; three grandsons, Ian and Aidan Clements and A.J. Pound. He was the son of U.C. “Bud” and Ruth Shannon; a brother, Dennis Shannon and wife, Patti; and a sister, Judy Varnell and husband, Ronnie. He is also survived by a large number of extended family who all loved him very much.
Pallbearers will be Jeffrey Shannon, Bryan Shannon, Matthew Varnell, Jeremy Varnell, Aaron Varnell, Charles “Scarecrow” Willis, Clay McCreary, and Judd McCreary.
Joseph Luther Bridges

Joseph Luther Bridges, 90, of Paris passed away September 1, 2009. He was born on October 28, 1918 in Madison County, Alabama a son of Charles Luther and Meada Stroud Bridges.
He married
Una Vivian Kennamer in Guntersville, Alabama on January of 1941. She preceded him in death in July of 1999. He married
LaFreida Stone in November of 2000 in Paris.
He was a retired United States Army Major serving in the Army from 1937 until he retired in 1962. He attended the University of Maryland. Mr. Bridges served as a deacon at Immanuel Baptist Church for the past 26 years. He was a member of The Retired Officers Association, the American Legion, the Masonic Lodge, VFW, and the Shriners.
Luther was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to all who knew him. He is survived by his wife, LaFreida Bridges of Paris; his daughter, Una Jean Trout of Wylie, Tx.; grandchildren Melanie Lowe of Dallas, Rebecca Spillman of Wylie, and Joshua Trout of Arlington; his great grandson, Cole Spillman of Wylie. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Charles Benton, Cleba, Edga, and Herbert Eugene Bridges, and sisters Dora Mathews, Flora Lewis, Lena Smith, and Mary Alice Morrison.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Thursday September 3, 2009 in Immanuel Baptist Church with Rev. Randall Scott officiating. Burial will follow in the Evergreen cemetery with full military honors provided by the U.S. Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be Bud Keenum, Leroy Bowers, Brandy Draper, Tim Stone, Chad Stone and Shane Stone. Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of Immanuel Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at the Bridges home, 2939 Bonham St. from 7:30 P.M. until 8:30 P.M. Wednesday, September 2, 2009.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that a donation be made in memory of Mr. Bridges to the Immanuel Baptist Church building fund or your public library.

Gene Cashion, Sr, 67 of Paris, passed away Sunday, August 30, 2009 at Legends Healthcare.
Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday at 11:00 A.M. at Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home on Tuesday evening.
He is survived by his wife, Suzie Cashion; children, Kathy Lang and husband Joe, Melinda “Vicky” Cruz, Angie Hutchings and husband Laton, Gene Cashion, Jr. and wife Christal, Amanda Bohanan and husband Daniel, Jason Cashion; 13 grandchildren; step-children; Robert Gautney and Tommy Wells; brother, Lloyd Cashion; sister, Mary Hester.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Della Hartgroves Cashion; son, Ricky Cashion and 1 sister.

David Sanders Merritt, 72, of Blossom passed away August 29, 2009 in Dubuis Hospital.
He was born on October 12, 1936 in Colorado City, Texas a son of Joseph Ford and Imogene Sanders Merritt. He married
Gayle Frances Jennings on May 15, 1967 in Abilene, Texas. He was a graduate of Texas A&M; serving in the TAMU Corps, served in the U.S. Army, was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Blossom, and was a member of the Blossom Kiwanis. David was a longtime salesman. He was the first elected Justice of Peace for Precinct 1 of Lamar County and served for several years.
He is survived by his wife Gayle of the home; daughters Rebecca Jones and husband Jack Jones of Emory, Theresa Merritt of Paris, and Cynthia Montgomery and fiancé Rick Lewis of College Station and Mesquite; grandchildren Luke Montgomery, Jake Montgomery and Crissy Lynn Jones; brother Joseph Ford Merritt of Alice, Tx and Colorado; sister Mary Ann Costin of Atlanta, Georgia.
Visitation will be from 6 till 8 PM Tuesday, September 1, 2009 at the Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home. Interment will be at 11:30 A.M. Friday September 4, 2009 in the Dallas Fort Worth National cemetery with military honors. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe and all the coffee buddies at Joe’s Coffee Shop.

L. C. Hodges, 94, of Paris died Thursday November 26, 2009 at Paris Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home Saturday November 28, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Mike Fortenberry officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park at 4:00 p.m Saturday in Nacogdoches. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until service time Saturday.
She was born in Nacagodoches county January 19, 1915 a daughter of Simmie E. and Annie E. Reed Porter. She married
Henry W. Hodges December 26, 1936 in Nacogdoches. She was a homemaker and a member of Immanuel Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Hodges; brothers Marshall Porter, Jewel Porter, Richard Porter; sisters Hattie Pitts and Mamie Porter.
Survivors include sons Larry W. Hodges and wife Betty, Thomas E. Hodges and wife Velma; Grandchildren. Tonya Pither and husband Walter, LaJuana Inman and husband Hal, Steve Hodges and wife Melanie, Debbie Allred and husband Joe; Great Grandchildren, Amanda Pither, Alesha Moon and husband Kory, Taylor Inman, Preston Inman, Matthew Hodges, Kristen Hodges, Hayden Spencer, Laura Lynch, Derek Allred and wife Brandi, Leah Allred; brother Bernis “Sam” Porter and wife Ruby; and sister Alene Stone and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
