James Lee Anderson, Sr.

JAMES LEE ANDERSON, SR. 54, of Paris, died at 11:52 PM, Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at Paris Regional Medical Center. A graveside service is set for 11:00 AM, Monday, November 30, 2009 at Meadowbrook Gardens cemetery with Rev. Allen McCool officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home. Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Anderson was born April 25, 1955 in Paris to James Thomas and Mary Lou Mullens Anderson. He attended Paris schools and worked for the City of Paris prior to becoming disabled. Mr. Anderson attended the Lamar Point Baptist Church.

Mr. Anderson is survived by 8 children, James Lee Anderson, Jr. and wife, Sabrina, Laura Michelle Emeyabbi and husband, Joe Don, Dawn Michelle Anderson, Jessica Layton and husband, Donny, Amanda Anderson, Jennifer Anderson, Christopher Anderson, and James Edwin Anderson; 15 grandchildren; his father, James Thomas Anderson; sister, Mary Naylor and husband, Dickie; and a brother, Freddie Anderson and wife, Karen. He was preceded in death by one son, Jimmy Don Anderson; his mother; and two brothers, Billy Thomas Anderson and Calvin Wade Anderson.

LEOTTICE BROWN “Mom” WHITE 95, of Blossom, passed away at 5:00 PM, Sunday, November 22, 2009 at her home as she wanted. Graveside services are set for 11:00 AM, Friday, November 27, 2009 at Knights of Honor cemetery in Blossom with Rev. Kathy French officiating. Mr. and Mrs. David Hart will provide the music. No formal visitation hour will be observed. Mrs. White’s body will lie at the funeral home after 4:00 PM, Thursday. Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. White was born September 17, 1914 in Overton, Texas to Henderson “Hen” and Althia Thompson.

Mrs. White was preceded in death by her husband, Jack White; her parents; sisters, Mrs. Jessie Riddle, Mrs. Ruby Walters, Mrs. W.O. “Kitty” Bonner and Bennie Thompson; and nephews, Larry Bonner, “Red” Holt, and Gene Holt. She is survived by her children, Dorwease Smith and Mikey Lee Burns and wife, Cathy; step-children, Wanda May, Dr. Jill Bardwell, Jerry Sowder and Wayne White; grandchildren, Tony Stout and fiancé Lisa Taylor, Jacky French, Kim Sands and husband, Kenny, Terry McCloud, Sharon McCloud, and Angela May; great-grandchildren, Shauna and Kenny Erwin, Anthony Stout, Amanda Daniels, Stoney Stout, Jessica Miller, Jestine Miller, Anette Canup, Amanda Sands, Kenny Sands, Jr., Jason and Dustin Boone; great-great-grandchildren, Brody and Ryder Stout, Justin Stout, Hunter Daniels, Kristen Carter, Courtney Dawsy; and nieces and nephews, Madge Bonner, Rita Bonner, Mr. and Mrs. M.H. Bonner, Helen Riddle, Mr. and Mrs. “Bubba” Holt, and Mr. and Mrs. Tim Holt.

Pallbearers will be David Hart, Danny Hart, Derick Hart, Tony Stout, Jacky French, and Kenny Sands. Honorary pallbearers are Anthony Stout and Stoney Stout.

She had a wonderful and full life in her 95 years, and was a lifelong member of the Blossom United Methodist Church. She was loved by all and to the many family members and friends that called her “Mom”, life will never be the same. From all the kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids you raised… we love you, “Mom” and can never repay all you’ve done or how you have touched our lives.

James L. Rodden

James L. “Pop” Rodden, 79, of Clarksville went to be with his Lord Sunday November 15, 2009 at East Texas Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday Nov 20 at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Clarksville with Rev. Bobby Peek officiating. Burial will follow in Lanes Chapel cemetery. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to service at the church from 1 until service time. He will be available at the funeral home for friends to come by and sign the register Thursday afternoon.

He was born July 25, 1930 in Red River County a son of L. Dea and Annie Maude Stevens Rodden. He married Naomi McQuatters in Clarksville Nov. 24, 1967. He retired from Magnolia Brush Manufacturing after 25 years of service.

He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father John Fowler; a son Tommy Keele, a brother Travis Rodden and a special nephew David Rodden.

Survivors include his wife of 41 years Naomi Rodden; children James Dea Rodden, John Keele, Jr.; grandchildren Trey, Brittany, Jonathan, Summer, Levi Keele; brothers John Lewis Rodden, Roy David Rodden; sister Dorthy Wayne Chadick; and a special niece Dana Todd and several other nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be nephews Jason McQuatters, Jacob Todd, Danny Smith, Dwight Smith, Doug Smith, Billy Barnard, Robbie Barnard, and Bruce McClanahan. Honorary pallbearers will be great nephews.

Henry L. (Buddy) Price
November 11, 2009
Henry L. (Buddy) Price, 77, of the Bairdstown community died Wednesday Nov. 11, 2009 at the Bonham VA Nursing Center. Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home will conduct graveside service at 11:00 a.m. Saturday Nov. 14 at Meadowbrook Gardens cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday 7-8 p.m.

He was born February 22, 1932 in Winsboro, Texas a son of Henry Jackson and Bessie Mae Johnson Price. He served his country in the U.S. Army and was a truck driver. He was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include children and their spouses, Steven Price and Linda, Susan Price, Stacy Wilson and Steve, Scott Price and Dawn, Sherry Presley and Chris, Samuel Price; 21 Grandchildren, 4 Great-Grandchildren; the mother of his children, Lois Jean Stevens Price; brother Jerry Mack Price; sisters Louise Jones and husband Marvin, Joyce Dollar and husband Gay; Patricia Reed and husband Larry along with a multitude of nieces and nephews.

Fred J.R. Jones, 75, of Paris passed away Monday November 9, 2009 in Paris Regional Medical Center. Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home provided cremation services and his family will hold a memorial service at a later date in Arizona.

William Urban

William J. “Bill” Urban, 91 of Colleyville, passed away on Monday, November 9, 2009.

A Mass of Christian Burial has been scheduled for Friday, November 13, 2009 at 1:30 P.M. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylor, Texas. Celebrant will be Bill’s nephew, Msgr. Lonnie Urban. Interment is scheduled at 4:30 P.M. at Hempstead cemetery.

Bill was born on June 17, 1918 in Hempstead, Texas. He received his pharmacy degree in 1940 from the University of Texas in Austin. He practiced pharmacy in Austin, Houston, Paris and Cooper, Texas for over 50 years. Prior to retiring he was a partner in the Miller Drug Store in Cooper. After retiring from Miller Drug he volunteered in pharmacy at St. Joseph Hospital with 5000 volunteer hours of service becoming an Honorary Life Member in the St. Joseph Auxiliary. He received a lifetime membership in the College of Pharmacy Alumni Association from The University of Texas in 1999. He attended the annual State Pharmacy Convention until he was 90 years of age and was honorable recognized for this achievement. He was a 4th degree Knight of Columbus. Bill loved to travel and was proud to have seen all 50 states, as well as Canada, Spain, Mexico, Bahamas and numerous Caribbean Islands. He enjoyed the annual Urban family reunion with his numerous nieces and nephews.

He is survived by his daughter, Theresa “Teri” Fay; son-in-law, Mike Fay; grandsons, Douglas Fay and wife Patricia, Matt Fay and wife Stacy; great-granddaughters, Sydney and Skylar Fay.

He was preceded in death by his wives, Tonie Seeker Urban and Vivan Miller Urban.

The family requests that memorials be made to the Diabetes Society.

John Welch, Jr.
November 8, 2009
John departed this life at his home in Birmingham, Alabama on November 8 to be with Christ. He will be greatly missed by his family and many loving friends from all walks of life. He was born in Dallas, Texas on July 16, 1963 to John W. and Rosemary Garrett Welch. He was a prayerful believer in Christ and a member of the Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his dear mother and grandparents, Alvin and Edna Welch and Clairmont and Grace Garrett of Paris. His survivors include his daughter, Danielle Rose Welch of Selma, Alabama; his dad, John W. Welch of College Station; a brother, Frank Welch, his wife Mari and their son John of Woodbridge, Virginia; and his step-grandmother, Ruth Welch of Paris. He had many loyal and loving friends whom he regarded as brothers and sisters.

John attended Shades Valley High School in Birmingham and graduated from Simsbury High School, Simsbury, Conn. He attended Jacksonville State University.

At age 15, John decided to make a career in the restaurant business. He worked for McGuire’s Irish Steak House, Pensacola, Florida and was named employee of the year in 1989. He was employed by Dr. Bobby Underwood of Dreamland Holdings in 1993 to start and manage the Birmingham Dreamland BBQ restaurant. At the time of his death, John was operations director of the Dreamland chain of restaurants in Alabama and Georgia. He loved his work, his customers and every member of the Dreamland organization. He was dedicated to treating others as he wanted to be treated. He treated all people, regardless of their station in life, with the same respect because he believed they deserved respect. He was recently recognized by the City of Birmingham for his outstanding service to the Five Points South area of the city.

John’s family thanks his many friends for their compassion and loving help as he battled cancer. Special thanks to Dr. and Mrs. Bobby Underwood, Betsy McAtee and the entire staff of Dreamland, Matt and Allyson Moore, Larry and Cindy Pendleton, Kelley McDaniel, Nina McDaniel and Jennifer Senn.

John’s funeral was held Wednesday morning at Southern Heritage Funeral Home, Birmingham, Alabama. Visitation in Paris will be on Friday from 6:00-7:30 pm at Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home. Graveside service will be held at 11 am Saturday Nov. 14 at Evergreen cemetery.

Patsy O. Waggoner, 69, of Paris died Monday November 2, 2009 at Paris Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home 10:00 a.m. Thursday, November 5, 2009 with Rev.Jerry Waggoner officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Tabor cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday 7-8 p.m.

She was born September 8, 1940 in Blossom a daughter of Henry Hurston and Annie Mae Farris Milam. She married Harold Waggoner Oct. 31, 1959 in Caviness. She was a homemaker and a member of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include children and their spouses, Nancy Golightly and Eddie, Anna Perry and Tony, Donna Lester and Ronnie, Pattie Lester and Marvin, Benny Waggoner and Lisa and Stormie Waggoner; Grandchildren, Luther, Eddie, Mathew, Todd, Tasha, Ronnie, Rodney, Chachi, Josh, Bradly, Melissa, Garrett, Levi; Great-Grandchildren, Aspen, Christopher, Brionna, Mattilyn, Rebecca, Hali, Blake, Dillon, Luke, Hayden, Damion, Colin, Chase, and Addison; brothers, Larry, Delbert, Johnny, Tommy, Donnie and Henry Milam; sisters Martha Harris and Linda Anderson and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Harold Waggoner; granddaughter Mattie Golightly; sisters Mary Cannon and Betty Barnett.

Pallbearers will be Luther Golightly, Eddie Golightly, Matthew Golightly, Chachi Waggoner, Todd Perry, Ronnie Lester, Jr., Rodney Lester, and Bradley Waggoner. Honorary pallbearers will be Jackie Berry, John Allen, Garrett Buhrmester, Jerry Harris, Roger Waggoner, Ricky Mackey, Levi Buhrmester and Eddie Bray.
