George Wesley Melton, 86, of Paris passed away Sunday November 1, 2009 in Bonham. He was born on April 19, 1923 in Ivan, Texas a son of Benjamin and Edna Mae Wood Melton. He was retired from the U.S. Army receiving the rank of Master Sgt. and served during World War II and the Korean Conflict, and served in the prestigious Old Guard in Washington, D.C..
Survivors include his wife Eunice Norene Melton whom he married
on July 15, 1958 in Paris; children Ruth Anne Fox and husband Charles, Janice L. Jordon and husband Thomas, James T. Melton and wife Michelle, and Jack W. Melton; 13 grandchildren including Tad D. Olson and Tonya Jackson; 24 great grandchildren; sisters Joann Perry and Peggy Allen; sister-in-law Wynelle Melton. He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson Ben Fox and a brother James Melton.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday November 4, 2009 in the Evergreen cemetery with Rev. Travis Edwards officiating. Military honors will be provided by the U.S. Army Honor Guard. Family will receive friends from 7:00 P.M. till 8:00 P.M. Tuesday at the Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home.

James Barron Moore, “Chicken Fry” 69, of Detroit died Sunday November 1, 2009 at his home. A memorial service will be held in the chapel of Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. Thursday Nov. 5.
He was born January 29, 1940 in Houston, Texas a son of Joe Bailey and Dewilla Estell Rhoades Moore. He married
Robin Watson in Paris. He was an electrician technician at Kimberly Clark. He loved the outdoors and hunting and fishing was his favorite past time. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force.
Survivors include his wife Robin; children Gabriel Moore and wife Misty of Detroit, Carri Moore and Samantha Moore of Center, Texas; Grandchildren Matthew Trevino, Savannah Moore, Yance Flores, Zevyn Moore, Gabriella Moore; Great Granddaughter Haley Moore and a niece and nephew.

Cameron Mitchell Roberts, infant son of Troy and Claudia Roberts, passed away Sunday, November 1, 2009 at Paris Regional Medical Center.
Graveside services have been scheduled for Friday, November 6, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. at Lane’s Chapel cemetery in Clarksville, Texas with David Gibson officiating. No visitation has been scheduled.
Cameron is survived by his parents; his sisters, Haley Elizabeth Roberts and Allena Madison Roberts; grandparents, Robert and Elizabeth Hamm Jones, Rick and Suzanne Connerley, Vonda King; great-grandmother, Betty Connerley; aunts and uncles, Larry and Gaila Vickers, Clint and Debra Mathers, Michael and Rosemary Selby, Delbert and Amber Offutt, Joshua and Adriane Connerley, and several other family members.

She was born February 16, 1923 in Medill, Texas a daughter of Richard and Vera Cooper Pierce. She married
John W. Whitney January 7, 1972 in Paris. She was a dental assistant and office manager for various doctors in Paris. She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter Nancy L. Jackson; sisters, Vivian Pierce and Pauline Pierce; and a brother Louie Coe Pierce.
Survivors include her husband John W. Whitney, two sons Joel Coward, Jeffrey Coward and wife Sherry; 6 Grandchildren; 6 Great-Grandchildren; and a nephew Allen Pierce.

DAVID CHARLES BUSTER 78, of the Caviness Community, died at 10:15 PM, Thursday, May 21, 2009 at the Cardiac Care Unit of Paris Regional Medical Center. Funeral services are set for 11:00 AM, Monday, May 25, 2009 at the Lamar Avenue Church of Christ with Patrick Cannon officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Tabor cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home. The family will be at Mark Buster’s home at all other times. Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Buster was born April 6, 1931 in Caviness to C. W. and Ella Hanes Buster. He graduated from Central High School and married
Janie D. Stanley June 4, 1949 in Enloe, Texas. She died after 57 years of marriage on April 30, 2007. He later married
Martha White Dennis on August 3, 2007 in Paris. Mr. Buster was a rancher, road contractor and owned and operated the family trucking business.
Mr. Buster is survived by his wife, Martha Dennis; four children, Peggy Robinson, Patti Buster, Mark Buster, and Judy Daughtrey and husband, Sonny; 13 grandchildren, Davy Bivens and wife, Laura, Wesley Buster, Judd Bivens and wife, Shelly, Cody Sanders and wife, Jana, Josh Bivens and wife, Krystal, Shelly Pope and husband, Jeremy, Marcie Termin, Cassidy Emeyabbi and husband, Ernie, Bailee Roberts, Amber Beyleryan and husband, David, Kimberly Smith and husband, Andy, and Rance and Reese Buster; 13 great-grandchildren; and other extended family who loved him dearly including Jerilou Dennis Bankston and husband, Steve. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Robert Lee and Hugh Buster; and 2 sisters, Ruth Buster and Thelma Latimer.

Charlene Champion, 84, of Paris passed away Thursday, May 21, 2009 at her home. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home with Rev. Ken Cannon and Rev. Jim Simple officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m.
She was born January 14, 1925 in the East Post Oak Community a daughter of Butler and Iva Ladymon Stevens. She attended schools at East Post Oak, Blossom High School and Paris Junior College. She taught school at East Post Oak during World War II. She married
Clyde Champion May 4, 1946 at the home of the bride’s parents in East Post Oak. She was employed by the First National Bank of Paris, later known as First City National Bank for 35 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Paris where she taught pre-school Sunday school classes for many years and later was a member of the Adult II Sunday School Class. She was still an active member of the Kiwanianne Club where she was a charter member and a long time volunteer at St. Joseph’s and Paris Regional Medical Center.
She was preceded in death by her husband Clyde; her parents and a niece, Marla Machen.
She is survived by a brother, Glen Stevens and wife Ina of Irving; niece Eleni Brooks of Irving; great niece Anna Machen and her dad John of Rosharon, TX and several cousins.
If desired, memorials may be made to the building on the Legacy fund at First Baptist Church or the East Post Oak cemetery Association.

She was born in Frogville, Oklahoma on June 7, 1919 to Willie C. and Ethel M. Kimmons Risinger. She married
C.H. “Gus” Parks on June 24, 1939 in Hugo, Oklahoma.

ROMA JANICE DAHL 77, of Paris, died at 2:55 AM, Sunday, May 17, 2009 at her home. A graveside service is set for 2:00 PM, Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at the Chicota cemetery with Rev. Mark Hutchison officiating. Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Dahl was born November 17, 1931 to James Weaver and Kitty Bell Lynch McEwin. She married
Roger Lewis Dahl on August 17, 1951. He died October 18, 2006. Mrs. Dahl was a fitness instructor for the YWCA in Wichita Falls, Texas prior to moving back to Paris. She was a member of the United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Dahl is survived by a son, Kevin Dahl of Plano: 3 sisters, Kathryne Crook of Paris, Myrna Hutchison of Paris, and Virginia Beaird of Hawkins, Texas; one brother, Tom McEwin of Muncie, Indiana; numerous nieces and nephews; and her 3 caregivers, Georgia Amburn, Carolyn Bowers, and Shirley Collins. She was preceded in death by a son, Russell Lewis “Rusty” Dahl on September 28, 2000; her parents; one sister, Robbie Dancer; and 3 brothers, Bruce, Lee, and Charles McEwin.
