MICHELLE SMOCK REAVIS 39, of De Kalb, Texas, formerly of Lamar County, died at 4:10 PM, Monday, March 30, 2009 at St. Michael Hospital in Texarkana, Texas. A graveside service is set for 2:00 PM, Friday, April 3, 2009 at Red Hill cemetery with Rev. Mark Sanders officiating. The family will receive friends from 7:00-8:00 PM Thursday evening at the funeral home. Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.
Michelle was born January 20, 1970 in Bryan County, Oklahoma to Willie Buster and Judy Ann Beckham Smock, Jr. She was a phlebotomist at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Paris. Michelle married
Edward Reavis, Jr. on May 12, 1986 in Powderly. She was a member of the Powderly Church of God.
Michelle is survived by 3 sons, Daniel Reavis and fiancé, Courtney Weehunt of Paris, Jamie Reavis of Deport, and Caden Reavis of Blossom; one grandson, Clayton Reavis of Blossom; her significant other, Mitch Akard of De Kalb; the father of her children, Edward “Peanut” Reavis, Jr. of Blossom; her father, Willie Smock, Jr. of Paris; two sisters, Yalanda Hodges of Gun Barrel City, Texas and Patricia Rosson and husband, Rodney of Paris; two brothers, Roger Smock of Arthur City and Willie Smock, III of Grant, Oklahoma; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Edward Wayne and Gladys Jean Reavis, Sr. of Deport; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, Judy Smock and one sister, Belinda Smock.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ricky Hodges, Jesse Hodges, Jonathan Smock, Nicholas Smock, Jeremy Rosson, Christopher Rosson, and Justin Smock.
Willis F. Pilkington

Mr. Willis F. Pilkington, 78, of Paris passed away March 30, 2009 at his residence. Mr. Pilkington was born on July 22, 1930 in Mena, Arkansas a son of James Monroe and Minnie Compton Pilkington. He was a painter and a member of the Graham St. Baptist Church.
He is survived by his daughter Anita Willoughby of Irving; grandchildren Calvin Willoughby and his son Samuel, Jackie Wilson and her children Jesse & Jennie, Mandy and Tony Adame and their children Chris, Joshua, Johnny and Clayton all of Irving; sister Hazel Chronic of Bagwell.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Thursday in the Union Grove cemetery with Rev. Bill Dickey officiating. Family will receive friends from 6:30 P.M. till 7:30 P.M. Wednesday at the Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home.

Wilma L. Ward, 76 of Paris, passed away Saturday, March 29 2009 at Legends Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.
Funeral Services have been scheduled for Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. at Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home with Bro. Harley Stripland officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Monday evening.
She is survived be her children; Johnny Ward, Betty Todd, Steve Ward, grandchildren; Johnny Ward, Jr., Amanda Ward, Angela Ward, Cody Ward, Danny Emeyabbi, Jeremy Todd, Jennifer Rhodes, numerous great-grandchildren; brothers; Henry Lee Smith, Joe Smith, sisters; Wanda Brockway, Juanita Summers, Gladys Nijo.
She was preceded in death by her husband; Hammond Ward, daughter; Cindy Ward, sister; Olla Fay Hastings, parents; Pete and Macel Ingram Smith.
Serving as pallbearers will be Johnny Ward, Jr., Cody Don Ward, Danny Emeyabbi, Jeremy Todd, Richard Sikes and Wade Wilkie.
Don E. Smith

Don E. Smith, 86, of Paris passed away Saturday March 28, 2009 at Paris Regional Medical Center.
He was born on November 12, 1922 in Canton, Ohio a son of Donald A. and Fay Garthwaite Smith. Mr. Smith was in sales, graduated from Kent St. University in Ohio, and was a member of Peace Lutheran Church. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in New Guinea and Luzon. He received Asiatic Pacific Ribbon with two Bronze Stars, Phlippine Liberation Ribbon with a Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal, Purple Hear, Bronze Star Medal, Bronze Arrowhead and Victory Medal.
Survivors include his spouse Donna C. (Bickel) Smith whom he married
on April 27, 1957 in Washington, MO.; children Dawn E. Stacy and husband Howard, Deirdre Leibrandt and husband Thomas, and Denise M. Kemper and husband Karl; grandchildren Alexander Stacy, Daniel Stacy, Nathan Kemper and Lucas Kemper.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday in the chapel of Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home with Dr. John Kelley officiating. Burial will be at 2:30 P.M. Tuesday in DFW National cemetery with military honors. Family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. till 8:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home.
If desired the family requests memorials to the American Cancer Society or the Diabetes Association.

Robin Marie Archibald, 49, of Paris passed away Friday March 27, 2009 at her residence. She was born on September 22, 1959 in Dallas a daughter of Robert Milton and Edna Lee Skouby Archibald. She was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her mother Edna Lee Archibald; brother Daniel Lee Boardman; special friends Ricky & Gina Davis, Pam Maddox, Beverly Bailey, Robin Simmons; God children Cory Done Davis, Cassie Lanell Davis, Dusty Lee Miles Davis.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Monday at the Evergreen cemetery with Ronnie Aubrey officiating.

Oscar Krause Maley, 92, passed away Friday March 27, 2009 at 6:15 P.M. in Paris Skilled Nursing Facility.
He was born on February 24, 1917 in Montana. He was a retired shipping clerk and a member of the Chicota Presbyterian Church. Mr. Maley was preceded in death by his wife Viola Maley; 2 sons Dan Johnson and David Johnson; 3 sisters and a brother.
He is survived by his children Kathryn Maley Greer, John Johnson and wife Jean, Roy Johnson and wife Nellie, and Bonnie Johnson; 17 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren; sister Clarice Maroney; niece Darlene Hasengflug.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 P.M. Sunday in the Chicota Presbyterian Church with Rev. Rocky Burrow officiating. Burial will follow in the Chicota Presbyterian cemetery with Todd Greer, James Rozelle, Jason Johnson, Maurice Morvant, Patrick Morvant, Charles Regal, and Gene Maroney serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Claude Hall, Vernon Fugett, and Patrick Maroney. Family will receive friends 1 hour prior to service at the church.

Laverne Williams, 78 of Paris, passed away Thursday, March 26, 2009 at Hopkins House in Sulphur Springs, Texas
Funeral Services have been set for Saturday, March 28, 2009 at 3:00 P.M. at Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home with Rev. Doug Holt officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Friday evening at Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home.
She was a lifetime member and Past President of the VFW Ladies Aux. Post 3990.
She is survived by her husband; John H. Williams, Jr., children; Patricia Schultz and husband Dennis of Central Point, Oregon, Pamela Hughes and husband Randy of Sulphur Springs, Phillip Williams of Austin, grandchildren; Shawna Cook, Jason Cook, Brian Black, Lisa Lewis, Amy Kelley, Daniel Lewis, Brandy Lewis, brothers; Clifford Upton, Keith Upton.
She was preceded in death by her son; Danny Lewis, father; William Upton, mother; Effie Wynn Trent, brother; J.W. Upton.

Kenneth Loyd Helm

Kenneth Helm, 78, of Sumner, Texas, was born October 24, 1930. He passed away on Wednesday, December 31, 2008 following a long illness.
Mr. Helm graduated from the Direct High School in 1948, attended Paris Junior College and enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1951, serving 4 years during the Korean War. Following his Korean service, he returned to Direct and started a lifelong career and hobby as a rancher. He retired in 1986 after 31 years of service with Uarco, Inc. He operated an auto salvage service between 1987 and 1999. Kenneth was active in the Direct Volunteer Fire Department in the early years of formation. He was the proverbial jack of all trades. Doctoring a sick calf in the morning, repairing a hay bailer, then a household appliance, and sitting at a desk doing the books in the evening would be a typical day for him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Abner and Corinne Copening Helm and a brother, M.L. Helm.
He is survived by former spouse Billie (McCann) Helm of Sumner, their daughter Lana Beth of McKinney, a son Kenny W. of Unity, and a former spouse, Sue Jamerson. Also three brothers, Jerry Delbert Helm and wife, Inez of Paris, V. Donald Helm of Direct, Wayne Helm and wife, Ann of Toccoa, Georgia; a sister Elsie Parson of Paris as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Kenneth spent his final years at Clyde Cosper VA Home in Bonham. The family expresses gratitude to the staff for the excellent care and comfort provided to him.
Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home will conduct graveside services at 1:00 PM Saturday January 3, 2009 at Pyles cemetery in the Direct community with Rev. Jerry Moore officiating. There will be a gathering of family and friends at Don’s Catfish Dock in Powderly after the service at 7:00 p.m.
