Dillard Manon Hurst

Dillard Manon Hurst, age 76, departed this life on March 16, 2010 in Paris, Texas. He was born on August 19, 1933 in Lewisville, Texas to Allen Gideon and Jewel Marie Hurst. He was the third of four children. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Allen, Jr. and sister, Fanny.
At age 7, he moved to Tigertown where he was raised. He honorably served in the Army during the Korean War and was discharged after receiving the rank of sergeant in 1954. In the late 1950's and 1960's, Dillard operated an independent cattle business and trucking company. He was also one of the original cowboys that was involved in the creation of the Paris Annual Rodeo. Dillard worked for Merico as a truck driver until retiring in 2002.
Later in life, he received great pleasure from NASCAR and his antique Case and Farmall tractors. From this hobby, he started Hurst Used Tractors.
Dillard is survived by his brother, Bobby Hurst and wife, Norma Jean, children Ruthann Cangas, Tina Cain Copeland and husband Virgil Copeland, Sam Hurst and wife Josephine, Shawn Richards and husband Todd Richards, Mark Hurst, Hope Smith and husband Ronnie Smith, grandchildren Angel Cangas, Melinda Cangas, Jay Cain, Megan Hurst, Niles Hurst, Zoie Hurst, Nathan Hurst, Robin Richards, Alexandra Hurst, Caitlin Smith, Timothy Smith, Jonathan Smith and great-grandchild Triston Cain.
Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Fry-Gibbs Funeral home 2:00 p.m. Friday with Rev. Brad Michael and Rev. Silas McFarland officiating. Burial will follow in Tigertown cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday 7-8 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Bradley Hurst, Barry Hurst, Jeff Hurst, Niles Hurst, Donnie Crutchfield, Junior Moore, James Taylor, Chris Margraves and Jay Cain.

MARJORY RUTH NEECE 75, of Paris, died Monday, March 15, 2010 at her home. Funeral services are set for 10:00 AM, Thursday, March 18, 2010 in the chapel of Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home with Bro. Ed Catlin officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00-8:00 PM, Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Neece was born June 25, 1934 in Freestone County, Texas to Alva P. and Lena M. Robinson Cate. She married
Donald W. Neece on November 1, 1954 in Fort Worth, Texas. Mrs. Neece was a dispatcher for the Paris Fire Department retiring after 19 years as the secretary to the Fire Chief. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Alvarado, Texas.
Mrs. Neece is survived by her husband, Donald W. Neece; one son, Stephen R. Neece and wife, Dena; five grandchildren, Tiffany L. Anderson, Danielle W. Anderson, Robyn N. Hoxie, Alex R. Neece, and Samuel H. Neece; six great-grandchildren, Riley Wilkins, Nicole Massey, Tyler Massey, Halle Hoxie, Jack Hoxie, and Emilyn Anderson; and two sisters, Francis Moore and Jean Williams. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Vicky L. Anderson; a son, David W. Neece; her parents; and two sisters, Elva Sherer and Mary Johnson.
Serving as pallbearers will be Brad Steelman, Mark Pilkenton, Alex Neece, Samuel Neece, Anthony Massey, and Ross Bigbie.

MARTI BLASSINGAME 63, died on March 14, 2010 at Paris Regional Medical Center. She was born Ruth Annirene Martin on July 25, 1946 in Clarendon, Texas a daughter of Clyde “Shine” Martin and Nadine Haile Martin. She became the beloved wife of Jackie E. Blassingame on February 14, 1976. He adopted her two daughters from a previous marriage and together they had the joyous birth of a son.
She is survived by her husband, children and grandchildren and various relatives as follows: daughter and son-in-law, Keli S. and Alan D. Vargo and their two sons, Christian A. and Isaac A. Vargo of Paris; daughter, Toni J. Blassingame of Paris; son and daughter-in-law, Casey R. and Lacy A. Blassingame along with their children, Lochlann R. and Kieran A. Blassingame of Texarkana, Arkansas. Also surviving are a sister and brother-in-law, Betty and David Lane of Clarendon, Texas; and a brother and sister-in-law, Clyde and Lindell Martin of Crotez, Colorado. She is also survived by many other extended family members.
Services will not be held as she has donated her body to the Southwestern Medical Center of Dallas. Family and friends are welcome at her home at 2235 Briarwood Drive, Paris, Texas 75460 at any time. Phone calls welcome at 903-785-3776.

William V. (Bill) Cox, Jr.

William Van “Bill” Cox, Jr., 77, of Paris passed away Sunday March 14, 2010 at his son’s residence.
He was born on July 13, 1932 in Paris the son of William Van Cox, Sr. and Lottie Bell Cox. Bill worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 21 years, was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in the U.S. Army. His love and passion was riding motorcyles with his friends.
Bill is survived by his children Michael Cox and wife Carrie, Will Adams and wife Tammy, Jerry Adams and wife Monica, and Dewayne Adams; 12 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; sister Marjorie Robison; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a grandson.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church with Father Seamus Rowland as celebrant. Burial will follow in the Evergreen cemetery with military honors provided by the U.S. Army Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be Dan Ables, Glen Chapman, Ricky Freelen, Tiny Freelen, Lanny Holmes and Jason Tharpe. A vigil will be held at 7:30 P.M. Tuesday evening at the Fry-Gibbs Funeral Chapel.

WACO — Emmett M. Cunningham Jr., 78, of Waco, formerly of Paris, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2007, at his home.
Funeral services were set for a rosary at 9:40 a.m. and services followed at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 23, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Waco. Arrangements were under the direction of Oak Crest Funeral Home.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlottie and Emmett M. Cunningham Sr.; five brothers, Roucelle, Russell, Hoyle, Donald and Ray Cunningham, and one sister.
Boyce Campbell
HUGO, Okla. — Boyce Campbell, 66, of Dallas passed away Monday, Feb. 26, 2007, in Kiamichi Wilderness; Parish Trail.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, March 1, at Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Home Chapel in Hugo, with the Rev. John Rogers officiating. Interment follows in Mount Olivet cemetery.
He was born on Oct. 21, 1940, in Hugo, Okla., to Barnett and Thelma Angel Campbell. He was raised in Hugo and graduated from Grant High School in 1958. He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1968. He moved to Dallas after his stint in the U.S. Army. He married
Wanda Kathleen Ussery on Feb. 28, 1970, in Dallas. He worked as a support manager for Frito Lay from October of 1968 to Feb. 28, 2003, when he retired. He enjoyed woodworking, spending time in the Kiamichi Wilderness and most of all his grandchildren.

COOPER — Oren Bradford, of Longridge, Delta County, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2007. He was the last surviving child of John Claude Bradford and Amanda Lyda.

Archie R. Sims, 89, of Arthur City passed away Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2007, at Paris Regional Medical Center.
Graveside services have been set for 3 p.m. Friday, March 2, at Forest Chapel cemetery with the Rev. Bill Dickey officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home.
The family receives friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. At other times the family is at the home of Jackie and Jimmie Vanderburg.
