Neva Odessa Benningfield Huval Baker, 78, of Paris went to be with the Lord Friday, March 12, 2010 at 9:45am at Paris Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00pm Monday, March 15, 2010 in the chapel of Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home with the Rev. Curtis Blake officiating. Interment will follow in the Hopewell cemetery with Michael Smithey, Merroll Ray, Billy Newman, Steve Coker, Rodney Hocutt, and Chris Baker serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Mark Smithey, Brock Towers, Kirk and Russell Winters, Tanner and Sheldon Baker, and Russell & Riley Coker. The family will receive friends from 6:00pm till 8:00pm Sunday, March 14, at the funeral home.
She was born on November 22, 1931 in the Unity Community of Lamar County, the daughter of Sam Ezra Benningfield and Flora Garrison.
She was preceded in death by her first husband Russell Huval in 1965, and second husband Roscoe Baker in 1981, her parents, and brother, James Redus Benningfield.
Survivors include children Patricia Newman and husband Billy, Angela Huval, Kathy Coker and husband Steve, Laura Towers, Greg Baker and wife Angie, Marlene Hocutt and husband Rodney, grandchildren Michael, Mark, and Misti Smithey, Stacy Shehan, Tammy Dewberry, Brenna O’Nolan, Ashley Arrington, Amber Picota, Brock Towers, Russell and Riley Coker, Chris, Tanner, and Sheldon Baker, Erica Morris and Zackary Hocutt, and 19 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Martha Ray and Mary Winters.
Richard Lawrence Duty
Richard Lawrence Duty, 43, of Oakland, Calif. died Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2007, in Oakland, Calif.
Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Saturday, March 3, at Truevine Christian Church with the Rev. Connice Mayes officiating. Interment follows in Reeds Prairie cemetery under the direction of Maxey Funeral Home.
He was born Sept. 26, 1963, in Lamar County, to Charlie and Mildred Duty of Paris. He attended Paris schools and was a long time employee of Denny's in Paris and Oakland, Calif. He was a member of Truevine Christian Church.
Troy Randall Smith

Randy went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, after a brief but valiant battle against cancer. Although now gone to his heavenly reward, he is forever loved and missed by his devoted and adoring wife of 33 years, Deborah; his daughter and son-in-law, Kelly and Justin Christie; his granddaughter, Taylor; his son, Bryan; his parents, Bob and Sally Smith; his brother and wife, Ben and Debbie Smith, their children, Piper and Mal; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mackie and Dora Woodfin and her children, Christopher and Leslie Kirkland, and their children, Skylar and Chris, Sarah and Joe Sullivan and their son, John Mack, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends. There will be a memorial service honoring him at Paris Church of God on Saturday, March 13, 2010 at 11:00 with Rev. Doug Holt officiating. S.H. Parnell, 89, of Paris passed away Monday, Feb. 26, 2007, at Weatherford Regional Medical Center in Weatherford.
Services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, March 3, at Bright-Holland Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Dickey officiating. Masonic rites follow in Evergreen cemetery.

Joel Hugh Brown, 37, of Powderly died March 11, 2010.
He was born March 14, 1972 in Lamar County to Hugh and Leisa Johnson Brown. He served his county in Desert Storm and was employed at Rodgers-Wade Mfg. Co. He was preceded in death by his mother Leisa Brown and grandfathers Woodrow Brown and Dan Johnson.
Survivors include his wife, Dana of Powderly; his children Andreanna Brown of Blossom, Rachael Summer & Sarah Brown of the home; his father Hugh Brown of Detroit; sister Leigh Napier and husband Shawn of Paris; brother Jeff Brown of Detroit; grandmothers Modie Johnson of Detroit and Madell Fogleman of Paris; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Sunday in the chapel of Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Shields officiating. Family will receive friends from 6 till 7 pm Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the East Post Oak cemetery with Paul Barnum, Brad Bryan, Chad Whitley, Eric Whitley, John Johnson, and Trent Smith serving as pallbearers.

Carl Miller, 67, of Paris, Texas, died Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at home.
Funeral services are set for 10:30 A.M. Monday, March 15 at Calvary United Methodist Church with Dr. Rusty Hedges, Rev. Beverly Olsen, and Dr. Burt Palmer officiating. Burial follows in the Forest Lawn Memorial Park cemetery in Mount Pleasant.
The family receives friends from 4 to 6 P.M. Sunday, March 14 at Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home.
He was born in Hayward, California on January 11, 1943 to D. C. and Helen Riddle Miller. He graduated from Hereford High School in Hereford, Texas. He attended the University of North Texas on a basketball scholarship, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science and a Masters of Education. He began his teaching/coaching career in Pampa, moving then to Vernon, followed by Arkansas High in Texarkana where he won the 1977 Boys Basketball State Championship and also served as Assistant Principal. In 1977 he began a long and successful career as an Independent Insurance Agent. He retired March 1, 2010 after 33 years.
He married
Myra Hitt on August 29, 1964 in Mount Pleasant, Texas.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Myra, of Paris; his daughter, Holly Nations and husband Sam of Paris; his son, Joe L. Miller and wife Mary Beth of Kodiak, Alaska; five grandchildren, Joe David Nations, Carl Orion Nations, and Mary Faith Nations all of Paris, Zachary Lee Miller, and Abby Miller both of Kodiak, Alaska; a sister, Patti Realph of Calif.; and uncle, Don Miller and wife Charlene of Bonham, Texas; and numerous other relatives.
Pallbearers are to be Joe Warren, Todd Warren, Eric Warren, James Dawson, Bill White, Vic Ressler, Greg White, Jon Lilley, and Henry McFadden. Honorary pallbearers are members of the Joy Sunday school class of Calvary United Methodist Church.

Ruby Lee Baggett, 78, of Paris died Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at Medical City Hospital in Dallas. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday March 12, at Bogata Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Billy Daniels officiating. Burial will follow in Meadowbrook Gardens cemetery under the direction of Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday 7-8 p.m.
She was born April 29, 1931 in Vicksburg, Mississippi a daughter of Ernest and Fannie Collum Sigman. She married
Billy Ray Baggett in Texarkana in 1951. She was a waitress for Kirby’s Steak House in Dallas and also worked for the city of Dallas in medical records. She was a member of Bogata Missionary Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Ray; a daughter Kay Perkins and grandsons Michael Darby, Allen Perkins II; sons-in-law Sylvoit Primm and Allen Ray Perkins, Sr.
Survivors include daughters, Diane Hathcock and husband David, Linda Darby and husband Mike, Jeannie Primm; Grandchildren Kristi Perkins, Bryan Primm, Jamie Ward, Gary Hathcock, Angie Stringer, David Darby, Amy Smallwood, Lisa Wilson and Chad Darby; 20 Great Grandchildren; 1 Great-Great Grandchild and 2 more on the way and a sister, Bettie Ciaccio of Houston.

JOYCE CAROLYN BRIDGERS KLOCKGETHER 63, of Honey Grove, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ at 2:12 PM, Saturday, March 6, 2010 at Paris Regional Medical Center. Funeral services are set for 2:00 PM, Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at Leslie Chapel Pentecostal Church with Rev. David Farmer and Rev. David Hamm officiating. Burial will follow in the Georgia cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00-8:00 PM Monday evening at the funeral home. All other times, the family will be at the home of Ashley Austin Johnston’s home. Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.
Joyce was born October 29, 1946 in Cooper, Texas to J.C. and Cleo Pauline Chappell Wilkins. She married
Odis Ray Bridgers December 21, 1963 in Paris. He preceded her in death on September 19, 2003. She later married
George F. Klockgether on November 4, 2006 at the Leslie Chapel Pentecostal Church where she was a member for over 45 years. Mrs. Klockgether was an ordained minister and homemaker.
Mrs. Klockgether is survived by her husband, George F. Klockgether of Honey Grove; two children, Jane Austin and husband, Steve of Paris and Robert Bridgers of Childress; seven grandchildren, Shawn Austin, Ashley Johnston and husband, B.J., Rusty Bridgers and wife, Kathy, Dustin Riley, Jennifer Bridgers, Beverly Bridgers, and Jessie Holt; three step-children, Holly, Joy and Lance Klockgether; 16 great-grandchildren including, Whitney, Britney, Chloe Johnston, Jacob and Hunter Bridgers, and Dylan Austin; seven sisters; four brothers; a brother-in-law, Rex Bridgers; a sister-in-law, Lula Mae Powell; and her very best friend, Sister Ilene Farmer. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sons, Marty and Gerald Bridgers.

Burt Hoyd Cain

Burt Hoyd Cain died Saturday, March 6th, 2010, at his home with wife, Clara, and daughter, Patricia Hancock at his bedside.
Funeral services are set for 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 10, 2010, in the chapel of Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Hollingsworth officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Tabor cemetery with Masonic graveside services conducted by Paris Masonic Lodge. Family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. till 7:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.
He was born in Cooper, Texas, on February 12, 1923, to Burton Hoyd Cain and Mattie Vernon Caviness Cain. They moved to the rural community of Caviness, where he attended school in Emberson. He graduated from Paris High School in 1940 and Paris Jr. College in 1942. He then became a teacher at Emberson School and finished out the term of Principal Ned Colvert, who had been drafted into the army in WW II. Burt enlisted in the Army in 1943. He served in the South Pacific on the island of Tinian, at the time the Enola Gay bomber was based there for it’s flights to drop the atomic bombs on Japan. He was discharged in March 1946.
He met his future wife, Jody Allen, on a blind date, arranged by his best friends, Troy and Bill Keeling of Paris. It was the last week of her senior year at Paris High School, where she graduated in May, 1946. Jody moved to Junction City, Kansas, where her stepfather, Chester McElyea, was stationed at Ft. Riley, Kansas. Burt and Troy Keeling moved to California, where they began to search for better-paying jobs. Burt asked Jody to marry him when he found a steady job. Burt lived in San Francisco, California for a short time, where he had two uncles: Jim and John Caviness. Burt later moved to the Los Angeles area, to be near his aunt, Myrtle Franklin, living in Burbank. He made application for the Los Angeles Police Department and was accepted to begin his training on August 1, 1947. He sent Jody money for a train ticket to join him in Los Angeles. They were married
on July 29, 1947, in Glendale, California. After their marriage, Burt asked Jody to use her birth name, Clara Jo, which seemed more mature for his new wife. They have been married
62 1/2 years.
During his 27 years in the Police Department, he was assigned to various divisions, including the Detective Narcotic Division, in charge of recruiting and training new graduates of the Police Academy to work in the”undercover buy” program. He later became a Polygraph Examiner in 1973, until his retirement in 1980. After retirement, he and Clara traversed the country in their Silver Streak trailer for three years, before returning to the Paris area, where his son Leroy built their home at Lamar Point. They enjoyed country living for 15 years, where Clara relished flower gardening and hummingbird education, while Burt became an avid fisherman at Pat Mayse Lake. They moved into the City of Paris in 1998.
Survivors include his wife of 62 ½ years, Clara; sons, Charles Edward Cain and wife, Pamela, Lancaster, CA, and Leroy Allen Cain, Naalehu, Hawaii, and daughter Patricia Ann Hancock, Columbia, Missouri; grandchildren Robert Jacob Cain of MoJave, CA, and Jovan Rae Gilbert, Centerville, TN, James Burton Cain of Lancaster, CA, Davee Jo Cain, Bend Oregon, and Sarah Jo Cain, Honolulu, HI, and Lauren Ann Hancock, Boston, MA; great grandchildren Trenady Rae and Abigail Gilbert of Centerville, Tennessee, and Sadie of Honolulu, HI; brother James Lowry Cain, Lamar Point, Texas.
Pallbearers will be Allen Carter, Eddie Kropp, Roy Buster, Tommy Haynes, Steve Keeling, Carl Unger, David Patty, and Ollie Hayes. Honorary Bearers will be J.C. Howell, Floyd Harris, Dick James, John Fuston and the Domino players at Hopewell.
