Sue Woodard
March 5, 2010
SUE WOODARD 78, of Paris, went to be with the Lord, Friday, March 5, 2010 at Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas as a result of a fall. A graveside service is set for 10:00 AM, Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at Pyles cemetery with Rev. Doug Holt officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00-7:00 PM Monday evening at the funeral home. Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.

Sue was born August 11, 1931 in the Direct Community to Elmer Andrew and Opal May Smith Daniels. She graduated from Direct Schools with honors and married Wilburn Zane “Buddy” Woodard on January 14, 1950 in Paris. Mrs. Woodard worked as a cashier for several businesses around Paris and was blessed with the ability of making friends with everyone she met. She was a member of the Direct Church of Christ.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend always making sure the kids made it to sporting events and their activities. She was a seamstress and loved to do crafty projects and be around her family. In early years, she was an excellent volley ball player.

Mrs. Woodard is survived by her husband Buddy Woodard of the home; four children, Ricky Woodard and wife, Carole of Blossom, Randy Woodard and wife, Kathie of Paris, Andy Woodard and wife, Donna of Arthur City, and Robin Bratcher and husband, Ronnie of Reno; nine grandchildren, Angie Willis and husband, Nolan of Reno, Ashley Echols and husband, Brent of Powderly, Chase Woodard of Paris, Chance Woodard of Paris, Colby Bratcher of Reno, Emalee Bratcher of Reno, Aimee Cobey and husband, Stephen of Reno, Angie Crozier and husband, Steve of San Antonio, Texas, and Missy Gogolewski and husband, Scott of Cedar Park, Texas; her sister, Evelyne Moore Morris of Paris; six great-grandchildren, Delaney, Alie, Emma, Ava, Aiven, and Acen; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a granddaughter, Krystal Woodard.

Honorary pallbearers will be Chase and Chance Woodard, Colby Bratcher, Robert Moore, Junior Moore, Nolan Willis, and Brent Echols.

Wesley G. Cantrell
March 5, 2010
WESLEY G. CANTRELL 74, of Paris, died at 10:02 AM, Friday, March 5, 2010 at Paris Regional Medical Center. Funeral services are set for 2:00 PM, Monday, March 8, 2010 at Oak Park United Methodist Church with Rev. Steve Cook and Rev. Doug Holt officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen cemetery with Masonic Rites. The family will receive friends from 3:00-5:00 PM Sunday afternoon at the funeral home. Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.

Wesley was born March 18, 1935 in Dierks, Arkansas to Wesley “Shortie” and Mildred Strother Cantrell. He graduated from Hugo High School, Paris Junior College and received his BBA degree from East Texas State University. He first married Margaret Ann Wells who preceded him in death in 1976. He then married Paula Jean Ruth on March 25, 1978 in Paris. Wesley was in the retail shoe store business for 43 years owning and operating Famous Shoe Store in Paris and Sherman’s Shoes in Idabel, Oklahoma since 2006. He was a member of the Oak Park United Methodist Church. Mr. Cantrell served in the Army National Guard and was a member of the Idabel Lions Club and was a 32nd degree Mason in the Paris lodge.

Wesley was definitely a “people person” as evidenced by his many friends he made while serving the community at the shoe store. When he took time to relax from his work, he enjoyed going fishing and enjoying the outdoors.

Mr. Cantrell is survived by his wife, Paula Cantrell of the home; one son, Mark Cantrell and wife, Kathy of Lindale, Texas; his grandson, Cody Cantrell and fiancé, Christie James of Fairbanks, Alaska; and his mother, Mildred Wade of Pawhuska, Oklahoma.

If desired, memorials may be made to the Oak Park United Methodist Church, 2515 Bonham Street, Paris, Texas 75460.

Houston Ray Jones Powell
March 5, 2010
HOUSTON RAY JONES POWELL 64, of Paris, died at 12:52 PM, Friday, March 5, 2010 at Paris Regional Medical Center. Funeral services are set for 10:00 AM, Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at Living Word Pentecostal Church with Rev. Tiny Freelen officiating. Burial will follow in Rockford cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00-8:00 PM Monday evening at the funeral home. Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Powell was born May 1, 1945 in Paris. He graduated from Powderly Schools and attended TSTC in Sweetwater. He married Gearldene King on January 6, 1967 in Paris. Mr. Powell was a truck driver prior to his retirement and a member of Living Word Pentecostal Church.

Mr. Powell is survived by his wife, Gearldene of the home; four children, Norman Ashford and wife, Linda of Sweetwater, Freddie Powell and wife, Sherry of Paris, James Powell and wife, Melissa of Sweetwater, and Dallas Powell-Simmons and husband, Eric of Paris; nine grandchildren; his father-in-law, Freddie King; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Tenna Jones and a granddaughter, Rachel Powell.

Pallbearers will be Eddie Simmons, Terry Simmons, Kerry Washington, Travis Skidmore, Earl Allman, and Clayton Smoot. Honorary pallbearers are Butch Burrows and Alonzo “Hit Man” Reed.

Dorothy Price
March 3, 2010
Dorothy Price, 80 formerly of Powderly, passed away Wednesday, March 3, 2010 in Mineral Wells, Texas.

A graveside service has been scheduled for Friday, March 5, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at Meadowbrook Gardens cemetery with Father James Rowland as celebrant. The family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. at Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home on Friday before the service.

She was born on May 25, 1929 in Vernon, Texas to Herman Burns and Dorothy Williams Burns. She attended school in Oklaunion. She moved to Denison where she married Bill Bryant in 1949. They moved to the Dallas area in 1953. He preceded her in death in 1978. She worked 28 years in Dallas for Dr. J.R. Greening, DDS. After retirement she married T.K. Price and they lived in Powderly. T.K. preceded her in death in 2005. She joined Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in 1990.

She is survived by her children, William W. Bryant and Mark E. Bryant; grandchildren, Jeremy Bryant, Gina Roach and Sarah Bryant; brother, Johnny C. Smith; 6 great-grandchildren; aunt, Sarah J. Waldon; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, parents, brother, James Smith and a sister, Doris Wehba.

Pat Sizemore
April 16, 2010
PAT SIZEMORE 69, of the Novice Community, died at 12:29 PM, Friday, April 16, 2010 at Paris Regional Medical Center. Funeral services are set for 12:00 noon, Tuesday, April 20, 2010 in the chapel of Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home with Bro. David Forgason officiating. Burial will follow in Springhill cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00-8:00 PM Monday evening at the funeral home. Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.

Patricia Ann Pavey Sizemore was born January 26, 1941 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Harold Eugene and Marguerite McReynolds Pavey. She married Bill Sizemore on November 8, 1959 in Indianapolis. He preceded her in death on February 28, 2001. She was a homemaker and member of the Baptist Faith.

Pat lived her life for others. She was a devoted wife, wonderful mother, cherished Nana, precious daughter, and loving sister. Pat was the caregiver to her mother and mother-in-law and worked tirelessly to take care of them and fill their lives with joy. To all who knew Pat she was kind, generous, thoughtful and full of love for others. She was a true example of a servant’s heart. Even in death she gave life to another through the gift of organ donation. As we suffer this unbelievable loss, it is our comfort that Pat is in Heaven with her beloved Bill.

Mrs. Sizemore is survived by one daughter, Veronica Kemmis and her husband, Bob of Arlington, Texas; two grandchildren, Matt and Gracie Kemmis; her mother, Marguerite “Mom” Pavey of Novice; her mother-in-law, Sally Sizemore of Novice; two sisters, Becky Sexton and husband, Mike of Arkansas and Barb Sexton of Colorado; three nieces, Angie Denson of Arkansas, Shantell Sexton of New Mexico, and Patricia Nikole “Niki” Slater and family of Georgia; two nephews, Doug Akers and family of Georgia and Randy Akers and family of Florida; a great-niece, Audrey Denson of Arkansas; sister-in-law, Ruth Guin and husband, Jeff of Georgia; and three cousins, Larry Reffitt of Novice, Peaches Shaw of Indiana, and Judy Ryan of California. She was preceded in death by her father.

Pallbearers will be Bob Kemmis, Matt Kemmis, Mike Sexton, Larry Reffitt, Jeff Guin, David Hulslander, and Rex E. Post II.

Cid Hahn
April 12, 2010
Cid Landon Hahn, 39, of Paris passed away at his residence on April 12, 2010.

He was born on December 27, 1970 in Phoenix, AZ the son of Gerry & Arlene Anderson Hahn . He was an expert furniture person and was associated with a furniture business in Phoenix, AZ before moving to Paris.

His passion in Phoenix was riding his motorcycle and enjoying the company of his special dog, Hope Hahn. He adored his son Landon. Cid was preceded in death by his grandparents Opal Ladd Anderson and Garland D. Anderson.

He is survived by his son Landon Geric Hahn of Paris; mother Arlene Anderson of Paris; father Gerry Hahn of Phoenix; sister Julie Deane Hahn of Phoenix; Aunt Jayne Anderson of Paris; numerous cousins including special ones Kenda Anderson Taylor and husband David Taylor of Paris and Vicki Jumper.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.

James Lewis Tatum
April 12, 2010
JAMES LEWIS TATUM 56, of Paris, died at 9:00 PM, Monday, April 12, 2010 at Paris Regional Medical Center. Funeral services are set for 10:00 AM, Thursday, April 15, 2010 in the chapel of Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Little Vine cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00-8:00 PM Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.

James was born January 24, 1954 in Paris to Charles and Mary Ann Sikes Tatum. He was a driver for automobile wrecker services and had been a tire salesman at automotive stores. James married Anna Marie Allen on March 28, 2001 in Paris.

Mr. Tatum is survived by his wife, Anna Tatum of Paris; two children, Charles Russell Tatum and wife Linda and Melissa Anne Tatum, all of Dallas; six grandchildren; one sister, Cindy Adams and husband, Lance of Arlington, Texas; and one niece and two nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Jamie Lee Tatum; and one grandchild, Mackenzie Norman.

Pallbearers will be Charles Sikes, Charles “Chris” Sikes, Billy Frank Sikes, Little Bill Sikes, Richard Sikes, Brandon Izzarelli, Justin Watson, and Brandon Steed.

Kevin Brown
April 5, 2010
Kevin Brown, 42 of Paris, passed away Monday, April 5, 2010 at Presbyterian Hospital in Plano, Texas surrounded by his family and friends.

Funeral services have been set for Friday, April 9, 2010 at 12:00 P.M. at Paris Church of God with Rev. Doug Holt officiating. Interment will follow at Tigertown cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home.

He was born on March 27, 1968 in Russell, Kansas to Joel and Doris Boswell Brown. He attended the Paris Church of God.

He is survived by his ex-wife, Sherry Brown Anglin; his only child, Hannah Kay Brown of Cunningham; mother; Doris Sue Graham of Paris; father, Joel Brown, Jr. of Dallas; grandparents, Harold and Doris Cody of Sumner; sisters, Tami Dryer of Hawkins, Debbie Davis of Dallas; nieces, Chelsea Dryer and Lilly Elizabeth Brown; great-niece, Carsey McDonald; nephews, Joseph and Ryan Macaluso and Justin Dryer, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins on both sides of his family.

He was preceded in death by his twin brother, Steven Wade Brown in 2005; grandparents, Joel and Connie Brown; great-grandparents, Rev. Allie and Myrtle Woodard; uncle, Tommy Brown; aunt, Patsy Latchaw; cousins, Curtis Radke, Susan Radke and David Comozzie; step-mother, Audrey Brown.

Serving as pallbearers will be Joseph Macaluso, Ryan Macaluso, Justin Dryer, Carl McDonald, Chuck Darden, Jeff Hall.

The family requests that memorials be made at Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home to help cover funeral expenses.
