COOPER — Betty Lou Kranning, 64, of Irving passed away Monday, July 28, 2003, in a Dallas hospital.
Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 1, at Delta Funeral Home Chapel with Gary Regan officiating. Interment will follow in Oaklawn cemetery under the direction of Delta Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, July 31, at the funeral home.
Survivors include her husband, Paul Kranning; her father; a daughter and son-in-law; a son and daughter-in-law; four brothers; three sisters; five stepsons; two stepdaughters; seven grandchildren; several stepgrandchildren; and several great-stepgrandchildren.
Billy E. Garrett
Billy E. Garrett, 73, of Paris died Sunday, July 27, 2003, at Christus St. Joseph’s Hospital South at which time Bright-Holland Funeral Home received him into their care.
Military honors and graveside services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 30, at Meadowbrook Gardens with the Rev. Jack Elliott officiating.
The family will receive friends at their home.
He was born April 29, 1930, in Edinburg. He graduated from Valliant High School in Valliant, Okla., where he played basketball and football. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict, was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. and a member of the Valliant United Methodist Church. He was a contractor specializing in painting and dry wall.
Survivors include his wife, Lois B. Garrett; three daughters, Vickie Stapleton of Stockton, Calif., Wendy Holcomb of Frisco and Billie Ruth of Stockton; one son, Raymond Garrett of Fort Worth; three stepdaughters, Billie Jean Vanhorn of Santa Ana, Calif., Helen Zumwalt of Norman, Okla., and Charlotte Archibald of Orange, Calif.; and several grandchildren.
John David Hollowell
HONEY GROVE — John David Hollowell, 53, of Honey Grove died Sunday, July 27, 2003 in Bonham.
Funeral services are set for 10 a.m. Thursday, July 31, at Allen’s Point Baptist Church with the Rev. Terry Paul Cunningham officiating, assisted by the Rev. Phillip Barnes. Burial will follow in Allen’s Point cemetery under the direction of Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home of Honey Grove.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 30, at the funeral home.
Survivors include two daughters, Heather and Erica Hollowell; one son, Aaron Hollowell; the mother of his children, Heidi Hollowell; two brothers, James Fletcher and Carroll Hollowell; one sister, Elizabeth Williams; and several nieces and nephews.
Mary Helen Adams
LUBBOCK — Mary Helen Adams, 73, of Lubbock died Saturday, July 26, 2003, in Lubbock.
Graveside services are set for 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 29, at Resthaven Memorial Park with the Rev. John Ballard officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home of Lubbock.
She was born July 30, 1929, in Paris, to the late Ben Kirkpatrick and Mary Ingram Dees. She married
Richard E. Adams on April 15, 1947, è‡` ôprew up in Pa 1‡and graduated from Paris High School in 1946. She and her husband, Richard, moved to Lubbock in 1961, where she worked for Charlene’s, Hemphill Wells and Dillard’s, selling shoes until retiring in 1988. She was a member of Highland Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Richard; a son, Richard Jr. of Paradise; a daughter, Rebecca Anne Johnson of Lubbock; two brothers, J.C. Dees of Paris and Ben K. Dees of Lubbock; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
If desired, memorials may be made to Hospice of Lubbock or the American Cancer Society.
Steve Anderson
Steve Anderson, 54, of Paris died Sunday, July 27, 2003, at his home.
Funeral services are set for 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 30, in the chapel of Gene Roden’s Sons Funeral Home with Patrick Cannon officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen cemetery under the direction of Roden Funeral Home.
His body will lie in state from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, July 29, and until service time on Wednesday, July 30, at Roden Funeral Home.
He was born Dec. 18, 1948, in Paris, the son of Oscar and Ophelia Andrews Anderson. He was a barber for many years in the Paris area.
Survivors include his sister, Betty Ray and husband, Lawrence, of Paris; five nieces; and several cousins.
James Norman Cato
James Norman Cato, 62, of Arthur City died Friday, Nov. 28, 2003, at his home, at which time Bright-Holland Funeral Home received him into their care.
Graveside services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3, at Mount Tabor cemetery with the Rev. Bill Butler officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2, at Bright-Holland Funeral Home.
The son of Leon and Bobbie Frederick Cato, he was born June 30, 1941, in Lamar County. He attended school in Lamar County and was a carpet and tile layer.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Ann Miller and Dora Gay Alambar.
Survivors include his children, Shelia Wright, Mary Cato, Cheryl Cato, Glenn Morrison, Andy Morrison, Scott Cato, Amanda Cato, Christi Golightly and Shane Golightly; two brothers, Roger Cato and Don Cato, both of Paris; and numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Myrle Louise Childers
Myrle Louise Childers, 82, of Roxton died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2003, at her residence.
Graveside services are set for 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2, in Restland cemetery in Roxton with the Rev. Jerry Moore officiating. Gene Roden’s Sons Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 1, at the funeral home.
She was born Dec. 12, 1920, in Roxton, the daughter of James C. “Dick” and Lona Umberson Childers. She was employed with the Roxton School District as a lunch room attendant until her retirement. She was a Baptist.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dick and Lona Childers and brothers, Haskell, Glenn and Doyle Childers.
Survivors include her sister, Margaret Prator of Aubry; two brothers, Jerry Jim Childers of Roxton and Raymond Childers of Paris; and several nieces, nephews and friends.
Ruby Nell Odom Hrabal
CLARKSVILLE — Ruby Nell Odom Hrabal, 85, of Clarksville died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2003.
Graveside services are set for 3 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3, in Westlawn Memorial Park in Dimmit.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Monday, Dec. 1, at Clarksville Funeral Home.
Wallace Reid Norman
Wallace Reid Norman, 83, of Paris passed away Friday, Nov. 28, 2003, at his residence.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 1, in Pleasant Hill cemetery with the Rev. Billie Ulrich officiating.
Family will receive friends from 5 until 6 p.m. Sunday at Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home.
He was born Aug. 23, 1920, in Fairbury, Neb., a son of Major Daniel and Ida Gross Norman. He married
Jonnie Mae Baker on June 27, 1943, in Witchita Falls. She preceded him in death on Sept. 11, 2002. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was a Baptist and a member of the American Legion.
Survivors include three children, Barbara Lorraine Nicholson, Connie Elizabeth Nicholson and husband, Marshall, and Toni Lynn Norman; eight grandchildren; nine grandchildren; and two sisters, Lorraine Ulate of Palmdale, Calif. and Marvel Barber and husband, Jerry, of Meadview, Ariz.
Pallbearers will be Marshall Nicholson, David Nicholson, Daniel Nicholson, Mark Nicholson, Joseph Nicholson, Stephen Nicholson, and Jimmy Don Nicholson along with James Dodson.
