Wanda Nell Lee, 65, and her son, Blake Allan Baggett, 35, of Plano died Tuesday, July 27, 2004, in their home in Plano.
A double service will be held in the chapel of Gene Roden’s Sons Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 3, with the Rev. Beverly Olson officiating. Interment will follow in Meadowbrook Gardens.
Family and friends will be received from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
She was born Aug. 4, 1938, in Sumner, the daughter of J.B. “Cootsie” White and Jeffaleen Hewgley.
She had been a member of Sumner Methodist Church and was involved in graphic computer design.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald White; a son, Billy Norman Baggett Jr.; and a nephew, Kevin White.
She is survived by a nephew; Rodney White and wife, Julie; a niece, Lisa White; great-nephews, Kolton, Dustin and Eric White; a great-niece, Katie White; and a special aunt, Doris Carnahan.
Pallbearers will be Dustin, Eric, Rob and John White, Billy Winn Carnahan and Kenny Keenum. Kolton White will serve as honorary pallbearer.
He was born Aug. 15, 1968, in Dallas, the son of Wanda Nell White and Bill Baggett.
Like his mother, he was involved in computers.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Billy Norman Baggett Jr.; an uncle, Ronald White; and a cousin, Kevin White.
He is survived by his father; cousins, Rodney White and wife, Julie, Dustin, Eric, Kolton, Katie and Lisa White, Ricky Baggett, Sandy Rachels and Jana Long; and aunts, Doris Carnahan and Geneva Baggett.
Pallbearers will be Rickey Baggett, Larry Long, Jeff and Jason Crabb, Craig Bailey and Randy Rachels. Kolton White and Rodney White will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Naomi Smith
BOGATA — Naomi Smith, 86, formerly of Bogata died Friday, July 30, 2004, in Spring Season Post Oak Care Nursing Home in Sherman.
Graveside services are set for 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 1, under the Pavilion of Bogata cemetery. Burial will be in Bogata cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
She was born July 15, 1918, in Red River County, the daughter of William Lee and Lizzie Agnes Wright Harbison. She married
Hubert Wilson “Smitty” Smith on June 11, 1938, in Hugo, Okla. He preceded her in death Jan. 1, 2000. She was a former dietitian at Red River Health Care Center and a long time active member of First Baptist Church of Bogata.
She is survived by two sons, Eddie Smith of Bogata and Keith Smith of Scottsdale, Ariz.; three sisters, Frances Aslakson of Sherman, Judy Jaiase of Beaumont and Billie Jo Griffith of Irving.
J.R. “Reginald” Griggs
CLARKSVILLE — J.R. “Reginald” Griggs, 83, of Bagwell died Friday, July 30, 2004 at Paris Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Sunday Aug. 1, at Leesville Baptist Church with the Rev. Jimmy Ellis officiating. Interment will follow in Leesville cemetery. Clarksville Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
He was born Sept. 19, 1920, in Manchester, the son of Joseph Porter and Sallie Bessie Coble Griggs. He was a member of Leesville Baptist Church and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of American Legion Post 45. He retired from Eastland College and was a rancher.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Wilma Kay Griggs; a son, Reggie Griggs; brothers and sisters; and a daughter, Maxine Brooks.
Survivors include his wife, Beulah Faye Griggs; sons, Porter Griggs of Bagwell, Darrell Griggs of Seattle, Wash., and Eddie Simpson of Rockwall; a daughter, Jessica Schawn of Alaska; seven grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Jacob Hildreth
Jacob Hildreth, 68, of Paris died Wednesday, July 28, 2004 at Paris Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services are set for 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 2, at Hospitality Church of God-in-Christ with minister Michael Mitchell officiating.
Interment will follow in Restlawn Garden cemetery under the direction of Maxey Funeral Home.
He was born July 8, 1936, in Magnolia, Ark., the son of the late Courtney and Martha Hildreth. He was a member of Johnson Chapel CME Church.
Survivors include his wife, Paulette Mitchell Hildreth; sons, Jacoby Hildreth of Paris and Aaron Thomas of Magnolia, Ark.; a stepson Damian Young of Paris; a daughter Jeanette Robinson of Magnolia; a brother Walter Hildreth of Los Angeles; his caregiver, Bertha Snell of Paris; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Mildred Ada Hollowell Guidry
EMORY — Mildred Ada Hollowell Guidry of Point passed away Thursday, July 29, 2004, at her residence.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Sunday, August 1, in the chapel of Wilson-Orwosky Funeral Home with the Rev. Randy Rather officiating. Burial followed in Forest Hill cemetery near Honey Grove.
She was born in Honey Grove to Charles Thomas and Ruth Herndon Hollowell. Her occupation was in nursing and she was a member of a non-demoninational church.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.
She is survived by two sons, Ronald Bennett Sandlin of Terrell and Paul Micheal Sandlin of Greenville; one daughter, Kim Yvonne Kirkland White of Point; one stepdaughter, Jimmie Lanine Kirkland Canipe of Chandler, Ariz.; six grandchildren; four step-grandchildren and one sister, Mary Ruth Blachshear of Honey Grove.
Roger Dale Manning
Roger Dale Manning, 51, of Paris died Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2004, at which time Bright-Holland Funeral Home received him into their care.
Graveside services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 5, at Evergreen cemetery under the direction of Bright-Holland Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
He was born June 21, 1953, in Paris, the son of W.L. and Jewlene Smith Manning. He was a security guard during his working years.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Darlene Manning; his grandparents, Johnnie and Elsie Smith and a sister-in-law, Theresa Manning.
He is survived by his parents; one brother, Johnnie Manning; two sisters, Donice and Randy Estep of Denton, and Helen and Bob Morton of Tennessee; five nephews, Kenneth Morton, Strider Estep, Donald Sims, John Sims and Steven Manning; three nieces, Christy Estep, Deshonna Cannon and Betty Sims; 13 great-nieces and nephews; and he was blessed with many friends.
William Merritt Noel
William Merritt Noel, 86, of Paris passed away Monday, Aug. 2, 2004, in Paris Regional Medical Center.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home.
He was born August 19, 1917 in Terre Haute, Ind., a son of B.H. and Edna Turner Noel. He graduated from Rose Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute with a degree in mechanical and electrical engineering and served in the 82nd Airborne Division during World War II in the European Theatre, being discharged in August 1945 with the rank of major, retiring after 34 years with Campbell Soup Company where was manager of engineering and maintenance. He was a member of Central Presbyterian Church, Founders Lions Club and Paris Golf and Country Club. He married
Helen Tod Larrance on Dec. 27, 1941, in Terre Haute.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Tod Noel of Paris; two sons, Larrance Merritt Noel of Ramsey, N.J., and his son, William Merritt Noel II and Merritt Andrew Noel and his wife, Delise, of Coppell and their children, Thomas Andrew Noel, Taylor Larrance Noel and Kelly Elizabeth Noel; and one sister, Naomi Heaton of Indianapolis, Ind.
DeLoyce Laverne “Lois” Nichols
DeLoyce Laverne “Lois” Nichols, 60, of Paris died Friday, Oct. 8, 2004, at Paris Regional Medical Center.
Graveside services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 12, at Rockford cemetery with the Rev. Royce Dickey officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home.

Ellis Ray “Tom” Nichols on July 11, 1966, in Hugo, Okla. She was a homemaker and member of Clarksville Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter, Rachel Powell; and one brother, Mackie McDowell.
She is survived by her husband, Ellis Ray “Tom” Nichols of Paris; five children, Tommy Nichols and wife, Dorinda, of Kerrville, Sherry Powell and husband, Freddie, of Paris, Jerry Nichols and wife, Geri, of Paris, Shirley Beason and husband, David, of Globe, Ariz., and Linda Applegate and husband, Johnny, of Tucson, Ariz.; 19 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and three brothers, Carol McDowell, Bobby McDowell and Billy McDowell, all of Dallas.
