Our dad stored up stars, crowns and weights of glory where it really counts. Without fail every night, and often at mealtime, he called the names of each member of his family and the many friends who had asked for prayer. Each prayer closed with the line, “May each of us be ready to meet the Lord if he comes or calls for us.” We are grateful for those quiet, relentless prayers. He’ll be waiting there, and his heart will be strong, his vision clear, his hearing renewed, and his feet steady. We’ll go because he paved the way…because he set the standard…and because we know he won’t quit praying until we get there. His life spawned pastors, evangelists, and lay workers. He left behind a rare, proud heritage and vivid memories of his fiery but friendly sermons.
Online condolences may be sent to the Stegall family at www.fry-gibbs.com.
