Mary Elizabeth Preas
COOPER — Mary Elizabeth Preas, 87, of Cooper passed away Thursday, Dec. 2, 2004, at Presbyterian Hospital in Commerce.
Funeral services are set for 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 6, at United Methodist Church in Ben Frankin with Gary Regan and Carl Sterling officiating. Interment follows in Garden of Memories cemetery in Ben Franklin under the direction of Delta Funeral Home.
The family receives friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
She was born in Ben Franklin on Oct. 13, 1917, the daughter of Coleman Foster and Julia Miller Foster. She lived in Delta County all of her life, and was a member of United Methodist Church of Ben Franklin. She was a teacher at East Texas State University for 25 years, teaching history and sociology.
She married
Opal Taylor Preas on Nov. 8, 1940, and he preceded her in death, May 22, 2001.
Survivors include two sons, Eddie Preas of Klondike and Bryan Preas of Palo Alto, Calif.; one daughter, Julie Lovell of Ben Franklin; one brother, James Foster of Fresno, Calif.; three grandchildren; and four great-granchildren.
Dave L. Rodgers
Dave L. Rodgers, 64, of Paris departed this life Sunday, Dec. 5, 2004, at Paris Regional Medical Center, at which time services were entrusted to Bright-Holland Funeral Home.
Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 8, at Bright-Holland Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Fortenberry officiating. Burial follows in East Post Oak cemetery.
He was born July 22, 1940, in the Post Oak Community to Gene and Vida Lee Rodgers. He graduated from Paris High School, attended Paris Junior College and East Texas State University. On July 17, 1964, he married
Beverly Coston in Paris.
He was a member of East Paris Baptist Church, and an active member of its Sunday school. During his professional singing days, he was well-known as the bass singer for The Prophets Quartet. He sang with that group from 1964 to 1969. During that time they recorded many record albums. They were well respected as a premier quartet of that time. While in the singing and recording business, they lived in Knoxville and Nashville, Tennessee.
He later was associated with Lone Star Coaches as a driver and tour guide. His favorite activities included his singing and being a handyman.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, Willie and Maggie Rodgers and Mitchell and Myrtle Lee.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly; two daughters and sons-in-law, Dana Willoughby and husband, Rob, and Nikki Hamner and husband, Steven; three grandchildren, Caleb Willoughby, Joshua Willoughby, and Lindi Hamner, all of Paris; two brothers-in-law and sisters-in law, Travis and Jean Coston of Paris and Melba and Martin Epps of Fort Worth; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Named to serve as pallbearers are Sam Bolton, Jim Lassiter, Butch Moore, Van Barton, Johnny Crawford, Thurman Wood, Floyd Weaver and Mike Julian.
Honorary pallbearers are the members of his Sunday school class.
If desired, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
George D. McGlothin
George D. McGlothin, 72, of Paris died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2004, at Paris Regional Medical Center after a sudden illness.
Private graveside services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 10, at Evergreen cemetery under the direction of Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home.
He was born Sept. 29, 1932, to George and Lorena Gollehon McGlothin in San Antonio. He married
Louise Martin on Nov. 27, 1958, in San Diego, California. He retired from Lockheed Aircraft in Burbank, Calif., after 29 years of service. He and his wife moved to Paris in 1993. He was very much loved and will be missed deeply by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Louise; a son, Aaron McGlothin of Paris; a daughter, Kim Gearan and husband, Paul; and two granddaughters, Hannah and Emma Gearan of Acton, Mass.
Lucille Langford Davison
CLARKSVILLE — Lucille Langford Davison, 89, of Clarksville died Monday, Dec. 6, 2004, at Clarksville Nursing Center.
Graveside services are set for 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 9, in Old Shamrock cemetery with the Rev. James Brown officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home.
The family receives friends from 12:30 p.m. until service time.
She was born July 19, 1915, in Red River County, the daughter of Travis and Clyde Warren Langford. She was a retired nurse and was of the Methodist faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Davison, in 1994; and a grandson, Travis Russell Davison.
She is survived by her sons, Claude Jr. and wife, Sharon, of Dike, and Travis J. Davison and wife, Connie, of Clarksville; a daughter, Dixie Mitchell of Dallas; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

BOGATA — Kenneth Gene Roberts, 72, of Bogata died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2004, in Red River Healthcare Center.
Graveside services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 10, in Hillcrest cemetery at Forney under the direction of Wood Funeral Home of Bogata.

He was born March 25, 1932, in Kaufman, the son of Ray and Kate Larie Clyde Freeman. He was a former convenience store manager.
He is survived by two daughters, Linda Gale Turner of Snyder and Sue Carr of Bogata; one son, Kenneth Ray Roberts of Bogata; two brothers, Donald Jack Roberts of Waco and Gerald Wayne Roberts of Cedar Creek Lake; one sister, Margie Faye Davis of Mabank; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Florence Bettencourt, 87, of Paris died Saturday, Dec. 4, 2004, in Paris Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services are set for 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 9, in Gene Roden’s Sons Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Timothy Davenport-Herbst officiating. Interment follows in Evergreen cemetery under the direction of Gene Roden’s Sons Funeral Home.
She was born Florence Arline Hasselmeier Bettencourt on Jan. 25, 1917, in Paris, the daughter of Arlindo and Florence Hasselmeier Bettencourt. She was a retired bookkeeper and receptionist for Hasselmeier and Bettencourt Plumbing in Paris and a member of Central Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include her first cousins, Geraldine Hasselmeier Floyd of Kilgore, John Lewis Hasselmeier of Lubbock and Ivy Hasselmeier Wilson of Harlengen; second cousins, Peggy Shields and husband, Sam, of McKinney, Skip and Mary Floyd of Mesquite, John Pat Floyd of Kilgore and John Hasselmeier Jr. of Lubbock; special friends, Linda and Dane Lair of Paris.

Jimmy Don O’Dea, 69, of Paris passed away Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2004, in Dallas V.A. Hospital.

He was born June 16, 1935, in Paris, the son of Don Buell and Edna Elizabeth Clark O’Dea. He was a retired electrical contractor, was a supporter for Jews for Jesus and Bridges for Peace. He served in the U.S. Navy, Army and National Guard.
He is survived by his son, Michael O’Dea of Paris; a daughter, Sherrie Willhite and husband, Johnny, of Honey Grove; and a sister, Barbara Biggerstaff of Paris.
Pallbearers are James Hanson, Ted Brakebill, Garland Lamb, Barry Boswell, Jay Smith, Mike Smith, Curtis “Bud” Freeman and Billy Porter.
