CLARKSVILLE — Adell Smith, 89, of Clarksville died Thursday, Oct. 11, 2007, at her residence.
Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, at First Baptist Church of Clarksville with the Rev. Mark Gossett and the Rev. James Brown officiating. Burial follows in Lanes Chapel cemetery under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home.
The family receives friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Tony Ellis Smith
Tony Ellis Smith, 53, of Paris died Monday, Jan. 3, 2005, at Paris Regional Medical Center at which time Bright-Holland Funeral Home received him into their care.
A private memorial service is scheduled at the funeral home with the Rev. Othoe Stegall officiating.
He was born Sept. 20, 1951, in Paris. He attended Paris High School, Paris Junior College and was an avid golfer.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Beatrice Awbrey Smith; and a nephew, Jeff Smallwood.
Survivors include his father, Andrew “Andy” Smith of Paris; two sisters, Vicki Jeffus and husband, Hugh, of Deport and Nancy Dorsey and husband, Mike, of Dallas along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Betty Jo Shelton
Betty Jo Shelton, 78, of Honey Grove passed away Monday Jan. 3, 2005, in Honey Grove.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 5, in the Fry-Gibbs Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Terry Paul Cunningham officiating. Burial follows at 12:30 p.m. in Oakwood cemetery in Honey Grove.
The family receives friends one hour prior to service at the funeral home chapel.
She was born April 26, 1926, in Paris, the daughter of Jack & Jeffie Holland Williams. She was a member of the Baptist Church, graduated from Paris High School, Paris Junior College and attended East Texas State University. She also worked for many years at the V.A. Hospital in Bonham. She married
Glenn L. Shelton on Nov. 10, 1948, who preceded her in death on Jan. 23, 1998. She was an excellent gardner, having a love for flowers and was a hummingbird enthusiast having written articles for the newspaper on them.
Survivors include her stepson, Don Glenn Shelton and wife, Carol, of Paris; grandchildren, Glendon Dain Shelton and Crystal Shelton Little; a great-grandchild, Hayden Shelton Little; special friends, Richard Orr, Mary Alice Glover and Ruth Bowen and beloved pet, Eddie.
Elsie Middleton
Elsie Middleton, 69, of Paris passed away Sunday, Jan. 2, 2005, at Choctaw Memorial Hospital in Hugo, Okla., at which time Bright-Holland Funeral Home received her into their care.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 5, at the funeral home with Dr. Wilbur Simmons officiating. Burial follows at Grant cemetery in Grant, Okla.
The family receives friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
She was born Sept. 19, 1935, to Sherman and Norene Gray Campbell in Memphis. She married
Frank Middleton on Oct. 23, 1957, in Hugo. She was a member of Ramseur Baptist Church and was a dietitian in the health care industry. She loved being with her family and friends, planting roses and collecting salt and pepper shakers.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and one daughter, Diane Hutchings.
She is survived by her husband, Frank; sons, Larry and wife, Joyce, of Hugo, Guy and wife, Penny, of Hugo, Frank Jr. and wife, Sharon, of Bonham; daughter, Patricia Wortham and husband, Rick, of Mesquite; five grandchildren, Shane and Chad Middleton, Derek and Shae Wortham and Nikki Hutchings. She is also survived by sisters, Eva Graham of Austin, Edith Backman of Las Vegas, Nev., Jean Knox and husband, Joe, of Roland, Okla., Margaret Cowley and husband, Mack, of Anna; one brother, Sherman Campbell and wife, Sandra, of Hugo, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Sheilla Henry
Sheilla Henry, 48, of Paris died Friday, Dec. 31, 2004, in Sherman.
Funeral services are scheduled at 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 3, at Solid Rock Baptist Church with Rev. J.R. Mosley officiating. Burial is in Rocky Ford cemetery in Roxton under the direction of Maxey Funeral Home.
She was born Dec. 3, 1956, in Lamar County to Lee Henry and Kathlyn Mims Henry. She was a member of New Hebron Baptist Church in Brookston.
Survivors include her parents, Lee Henry and Kathlyn Henry Gill, both of Paris; two brothers, Dewayne Henry and Chegsley Henry of Paris; three sisters, Carolyn Henry, Jannette Henry, both of Paris, and Joanette Henry of Dallas.
Briteny Kay Louise Souder
Briteny Kay Louise Souder, 5, of Paris died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2004, at the Shriner’s Hospital in Galveston as a result of burns received in a house fire.
Graveside services are scheduled at 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, at the Chicota cemetery with Rev. Ray Evers officiating. Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.

She was born April 25, 1999, to James Edward and Hazel Pauline Alexander Souder. She was a student at T.G. Givens kindergarten and attended the Pathway Church of God.
She is survived by her parents, Jimmy and Hazel Souder of Paris; two brothers, Michael Parrish and Austin Souder of Paris; two sisters, Courtney and Tiffany Souder of Mississippi; grandparents, William and Patricia Parrish of Paris, Stan and Brenda Morandi of Oklahoma, Dave and Diane McFeater of Eringer, Ky. and Max and Vicki Sides of Oklahoma; great-grandparents, Troy and Pat Boles of Arthur City and Mary and Harold Pruitte of Paris; three aunts, Kandi Jones of Paris, Andrea Powell of Oklahoma, and Marlene Murphy of Roxton; twelve uncles, Casey Jones, Paul Sides, David and Christopher Bannan and Christopher Brunson, all of Paris, Jason Sides of Copeville, Max Sides Jr., T.J. Sides and Justin Powell of Oklahoma, Joey Clair of Kentucky, Thomas Souder of Mississippi and Thomas Murphy of Roxton; and a great-aunt, Courtney Boles of Arthur City.

Gladys Bybee Bridges
Gladys Bybee Bridges, 89, of Paris died peacefully surrounded by her family at 4:48 p.m. Friday, Dec. 31, 2004.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 3, in the chapel of Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Cook officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.

She was born March 9, 1915, in Lamar County, the youngest daughter of Joseph Wilburn and Luetta Upchurch Bybee. She was a member of the Goodwill Sunday School Class and a long time member of the Oak Park United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Arthur and Travis Bybee; five sisters, Jennie Kirby, Tollie Rowland, Lucille Reece, Mary Pledger and Lizzie Bybee; a nephew, Michael Reece; and nieces, Elaine Pledger Russell, Elizabeth Bybee Yeager and Katina Bybee Barton.
She is survived by five nieces, Mary Frances Kirby Brown and Gloria Kirby Abbett, both of Paris; Marjorie Kirby of Fort Worth, Betty Rowland Pitts of Lubbock and Mary Elizabeth Pledger Burnett of Bedford; four nephews, Jim Kirby of Dallas, Bill Kirby of Paris, Jerry Reece of Des Moines, Wash. and Joe Bybee of Bakersfield, Calif. Also surviving are 37 great-nieces and nephews; 47 great-great- nieces and nephews; and five great-great-great- nieces and nephews.
She not only sewed for her family, but was also a professional seamstress. She was employed by Johnson and Snowden Dress Designs and Hollywood Vaserette, retiring in 1978 after 23 years. She was a wonderful cook, well known for her special pralines and many delicious desserts. She did beautiful needlepoint and cross stitch, leaving many beautiful pieces for her family and friends to treasure and cherish.
She was a kind and wonderful lady with sincere love for all (even all the stray cats that depended on her for their food every day). She was always loving, caring, giving and wanting nothing in return. She certainly touched many lives in many ways. We will miss her so very much and we will never, never forget her. Eternal life with her Heavenly Father was her goal. Yes, an angel has gone home.
Aunt Gladys, we will remember you in the rising of the sun and in it’s going down, in the blowing wind and in the chill of winter, in the opening of buds and in the rebirth of spring, in the rustling of the leaves and in the beauty of autumn, in the beginning of the year and when it ends, when we are weary and in need of strength, when we are lost and sick at heart and when we have joys we yearn to share. For as long as we live, you shall live for you are now a part of us as we remember you.
Serving as pallbearers are Jim Kirby, Bill Kirby, Tom Pitts, Fred Brown, Marcus Stewart and John Hanna.

HONEY GROVE — Wanda L. Jacobs, 67, of Honey Grove died at 12:05 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 1, 2005, at Paris Regional Medical Center.
A memorial service is to be held at a later date. Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.
She was born in Wewoka, Okla, to Russell and Irene Farmer West. She graduated from Wewoka High School and received her LPN certification. She married
Billy Ray Jacobs on June 26, 1976, in Antlers, Okla. She was a member of the Pentacostal faith.
She was preceded in death by her father and two sisters, Remona and Norma Jean.
She is survived by her husband, Bill, of Honey Grove; one daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Darwayne Gay of Honey Grove; a son, Jason Jacobs of Dallas; her mother, Irene Turner, of Honey Grove; and four grandchildren, Elizabeth and Joshua Gay, and James and Elishia Moore of Honey Grove.
Elmer Joe Holmes
COOPER — Elmer Joe Holmes, 66, of Paris died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2005, in Baylor Medical Center in Dallas.
Funeral services are scheduled at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 3, at Cooper Church of Christ with Bill Cavender and Ken Peden officiating. Delta Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
The family receives friends from 7-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
He was born in Vasco on Oct. 14, 1938, the son of Elmer and Claudie Holmes. He was a butcher for Piggly Wiggly and Brookshire Food for many years, learning the trade at age 12.
He married
Lulla Landers Holmes on June 9, 1956, in Cooper. In 1961, he was mobilized with the National Guard, serving two years. He began a 43-year service as an independent Borden Milk distributor.
He and his family lived in Commerce for 30 years, where their children went to school. He helped found the Commerce Emergency Corp, serving the community with skilled emergency care. He was a faithful member of the Cooper Church of Christ for many years, serving as an elder six of those years.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years Lulla Landers Holmes; a son, Tony Holmes and wife, Sheri, of Sulphur Springs; and a daughter, Jana Choate and husband, Bill, of Cooper; grandchildren, Jennifer and Jason Ricketston of Sulphur Springs, Jay Michael Holmes of Lewisville, Shelley Hooten of Mesquite and Jason Choate of Cooper; sisters, Betty Brewer of Highlands, Dorothy Pennix of Cypress, Marie Lowery of Salem, Ind., Nada Crouch of Peerless, Margaret Eudy of Cooper and Judy Petty of Tira.
