MARTHA LANE HARDIN 86, of Fort Worth, formerly of Blossom, died at 3:18 PM, Monday, December 22, 2008 at Baylor-All Saints Hospital in Fort Worth. A funeral service is set for 1:00 PM, Saturday, December 27, 2008 in the chapel of Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Felts officiating. Burial will follow in Knights of Honor cemetery in Blossom. The family will receive friends from noon until service time prior to the service on Saturday. Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Hardin was born September 7, 1922 in Blossom to Robert Lee and Nora Lee Edmonson Calton. She was a sales associate with Thrift Town in Fort Worth for several years prior to her retirement. Mrs. Hardin was a member of the First Baptist Church of Blossom.

Mrs. Hardin is survived by six children, Roger Allen of Kaufman, Janice Sutton of Poolville, Sharon Watkins of Weatherford, Raymond Robinson of Crowley, Steve Robinson of Fort Worth, and Ernie Robinson of Burleson; one sister, Janie Robinson of Fort Worth; 14 grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three husbands, Maurice Allen, Paul Robinson, and Ray Hardin; her parents; 3 children, Maurice Galen Allen, Bobby Allen, and Ronnie Allen; 4 grandchildren, Roger Morris Allen, Paul Robinson, Dakota Allen, and Roger Dale Allen; and one sister, Wanda Townsend.

James O. Foster
December 21, 2008
James O. Foster, 67, of Paris died Sunday December 21, 2008 at Paris Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home with Rev. David Holt officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday 6-7 p.m.

He was born July 13, 1941 in Peerless, Texas in Hopkins County a son of Leo and Lula Pauline Sims Foster. He married Dora Mae Watson July 9, 1962 in Dallas. He served his country in the Army. He attended Sam Houston State University majoring in Criminal Justice. His law enforcement career included 16 years with the Dallas Police Department, a criminal investigator with the Lamar County District Attorney’s office and later retired from Sears. He attended Arthur City Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by sisters, Frita Vanderburg, Louise Brown and Sammy McCurry.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Dora; children, Linda Kyle and husband Glenn, Teresa Foster and Lisa Stone all of Paris; grandchildren, Jennifer Kyle and husband Andrew Woods, Daniel Morris, Rachel Kyle and husband Ricky Ballard, Leigha Stone, Whitney Stone; great grandchildren, Brandi Ballard and Derick Ballard; a brother, Charles B. Foster and wife, Gail.

Pallbearers will be James Skelly, Wendall Smith, Eric Clifford, Bobby Spencer, Mike Hill and James Chadwick.

Donna Lou Mitchell

Donna Lou Mitchell, 56, formerly of Blossom passed away Monday, June 23, 2008 in Dallas. Fry-Gibbs funeral home will conduct graveside services 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 25, 2008 at Red Oak cemetery with Rev. Lynn McClellan officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday 7-8 p.m.

She was born February 28, 1952 in Dallas a daughter of Preston and Winnie Shumate Mitchell. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Blossom.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Winnie Mitchell.

Survivors include her father, Preston Mitchell; brothers, Phillip Mitchell and wife, Deborah; Keith Mitchell and wife, Leann, all of Blossom; nieces and nephews, Brian Mitchell and wife, Shannon, Reigen Lox and husband, Richard, Deanna Mitchell Kim Mitchell and Kelli Mitchell; an aunt, Dorothy Mitchell and numerous cousins.

John Calvin Butler

JOHN CALVIN BUTLER 79, of Paris, died at 10:00 AM, Saturday, November 29, 2008 at Paris Regional Medical Center. A graveside service is set for 2:30 PM, Monday, December 1, 2008 at Evergreen cemetery with Bro. Nolan Butler officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:00-4:00 PM, Sunday afternoon at the funeral home. Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Butler was born September 13, 1929 in Magnolia, Arkansas to Robert L. and Pearl Wilkerson Butler. He was a retired oil field worker. Mr. Butler married Lorene McFadden on May 22, 1992 in Paris. He was a member of the College Church of Christ.

Mr. Butler is survived by his wife, Lorene Butler; six children, John C. Butler, Jr. and wife, Kay, David Butler, Raymond Butler, Samuel Wayne Butler, Elfieria Joyce, and Doretha Burnett; two step-children, Jerry McFadden and wife, Diane and Rita Giles and husband, Michael; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Curtis Butler and wife, Tonya and O’Dell Butler. He was preceded in death by his parents; one step-son, Dale McFadden; three brothers, Bonion, Thomas, and Dale Butler; and one sister, Clement Butler.

Honorary pallbearers will be James Prater, Warren Skeen, Mark Arnold, Paul Payne, Michael Fry, Rick Zant, Robert Ballard, and Charles Hodgkiss.

Clarence (Bull) Coleman

CLARENCE “Bull” COLEMAN 87, beloved Dad, Grandfather, and PawPaw, passed away peacefully, after a short illness, with his granddaughter by his side in Cedar Park, Texas on Friday, November 28, 2008. Military graveside services will be held at Evergreen cemetery at 2:30 PM, Friday, December 5, 2008 with Rev. Mike Fortenberry officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 PM, Friday at the funeral home prior to the service. Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.

Bull was born March 30, 1921 in Seymour, Texas to R.A. and Annie Cisco Coleman. After serving in the US Army during World War II, he returned home and married Ollie Florence Rogers on November 15, 1947 in Paris. She died July 7, 2000. He retired from Babcock & Wilcox Corporation after 20 years. He was a member of the Brookston Baptist Church and the Northstar 8 Square Dance Club.

Mr. Coleman is survived by his daughter, Scherry Lynn Wallace and husband, John R. of Guilderland Center, New York; his granddaughter, Heather Anne Boswell and husband, Joseph A. of Cedar Park, Texas; and one cherished great-granddaughter, Preslie Lynn Boswell. He is preceded in death by his parents; 5 brothers; and 3 sisters.

If desired, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s research Hospital.

Mary Elizabeth McGee

Mary Elizabeth McGee, 71, of Paris died Thursday, November 27, 2008, at Richardson Regional Medical Center in Richardson. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday December 1, 2008, at Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Reger officiating. Burial will follow in Meadowbrook Gardens cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday at the funeral home 4:00 until 5:00 p.m.

She was born January 4, 1937, in Como, Texas, a daughter of William Clyde and Maude Lile Lewis. She married Lewis Ray McGee in Paris on July 2, 1959. She was a home economics teacher at East Lamar, then Delmar and Chisum schools. She retired in 1997 after 39 years of teaching.

Survivors include two sons: Lyndel McGee and wife, Carmen; Jeff McGee and wife, Brynna; grandchildren, Chris Tinajero and wife, Candy; Kurt Nostrand and 3 nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Ray, and a sister, Joye Gray.

Pallbearers will be Glenn Davis, Cory Davis, Bill Alford, Ricky Cochran, John Noe, and John Noe, Jr.

If desired, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

Geraldine E. Valentine

Geraldine E. Valentine, 87, of Blossom passed away Wednesday November 26, 2008 at Paris Regional Medical Center. Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home will conduct graveside services 11:00 a.m. Friday Nov. 28, 2008 at Evergreen cemetery with Dr. L. C. Stout officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 9:30 until 10:30 Friday morning prior to the service.

She was born September 4, 1921 in Commerce a daughter of Cleatus Virgil and Maye Alberta Yates Brown. She married William Clifford Valentine in Tinkerfield, Oklahoma during WWII. She was a seamstress and an artist. She was active in the Prime Timers as a volunteer and a member of the Red Hat Society and held demonstrations in grocery stores in the area. She was of the Methodist faith.

Survivors include a son, William Valentine, II of Pennsylvania; three brothers, C. V. Brown and wife Virginia of Whitehouse and their daughter, Angie, Jackie Brown and wife LaJoyce of Waxahachie, Charles Brown of Blossom; a sister, Margaret Joe Coe of White Settlement and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Clifford Valentine, her parents and a sister, Mary Helen Brown.

Hal Houston Henry
November 26, 2008
Hal Houston Henry, 85, departed this life for Heaven November 26, 2008 at Paris Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services are set for 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Fortenberry and Rev. Donald Morton officiating. Interment follows at Meadowbrook Gardens cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 Friday at the funeral Home.

He was born April 15, 1923, in the Slate Shoals community, the son of Allie Francis Henry and Mollie Mae Davis. He attended school at Slate Shoals, Powderly High School, Paris Junior College and East Texas State University at Commerce.

He married Jessie O. Pendergrass on November 29, 1952. She died on June 22, 1992. He married Geneva Adams March 17, 1999.

He served in the U.S. Army from Nov. 11, 1943 until Feb. 18, 1946, including a two-year tour of duty overseas in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. He retired from the U.S. Army Guard as a senior master sergeant.

He began his career with the Dept. of Transportation in 1946 working on a survey crew for the Resident Engineer’s Office. He then saw duty in the district soil laboratory, district maintenance office and traffic engineering section before assuming his sign supervisor’s post in 1975. He retired after 40 years service.

He was a long-time faithful member of Ramseur Baptist Church, a 32nd degree Mason in Paris Lodge #27, Scottish Rite of Dallas, and Knight Templar of TX.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Geneva; one daughter, Janie Duke and husband, Gary; two grandchildren, Jill Jameson and husband, Derek and Kirk Duke; two great grandchildren, Cheyenne Duke and Lexi Jameson; brother Eugene Henry. He is also survived by one step-son and two step-daughters, five step-grandchildren and ten step-great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Kelly Collins, Larry Henry, Karl Puckett, Charles Hamilton, Phillip Cecil, and Wes McGee.
