Karen Boss, 54, of Arthur City passed away Sunday, Jan. 29, 2006, at her home.
Graveside services are set for 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, at Forest Chapel cemetery under the direction of Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman Pierce and Wanda Wharton Pierce.
The family receives friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
She is survived by her husband, Bobby Boss; daughters, Stormy Boss and April Boss; brother, Daryl Pierce; sisters, Ranonda Pass and Rebecca Dawn Crawford.
Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Slagle, Terry Slagle, Reggie Horton, Richard Drake, Larry Grayson and Mickey Kelly.
Thomas Jacob Johnson
COOPER — Thomas Jacob Johnson, 81, of Cooper passed away Saturday, Jan. 28, 2006, at VA Medical Center in Dallas.
Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3, at Delta Funeral Home Chapel with Johnny Witherspoon officiating. Interment follows in Shiloh cemetery with military graveside services.
The family receives friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
He was born Oct. 28, 1924, in Hopkins County. He was the son of Curtis and Sally Johnson. He was a truck driver, a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army and had lived in Cooper since 1987. He married
Dorothy Rowene Jaco on July 26, 1961, and she preceded him in death on Dec. 26, 2002.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Claude, Rube, Gene, Ollie and Elvin Johnson; and a sister, Era Benefield.
Survivors include two sons, Ronald Johnson of Mablevale, Ark., and Gerry Johnson of Cooper; daughter, Janie Wherry of Mablevale; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Bernice Fay Baxter Birlew
CLARKSVILLE — Bernice Fay Baxter Birlew, 77, of Clarksville died Monday, Jan. 30, 2006.
Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, at Lindeman Chapel with the Rev. A.B. Kellam officiating. Interment follows in Union Grove cemetery in Reno, under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home.

Mildred Branum Rogers
Mildred Branum Rogers, 92, of Paris, passed away Sunday, Oct. 14, 2007, at Paris Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services are set for 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16, in the chapel of Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home with Dan McDowell officiating. Burial follows at Hickory Grove cemetery near Petty. Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.
The family receives friends from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday prior to the service.
She was born Dec. 10, 1914, in the Roxton Community, to Tom and Hula Casey Branum. She married
Howard Rogers on July 20, 1934. He died Feb. 17, 1978. They lived in Tennessee, Mississippi, and later in Paris. She was a long time member of First Baptist Church in Paris.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Maurice Branum and his wife, Gladys; brother, Field Officer Drury Branum, a pilot who died in World War II; and a niece, Sandra Branum Goforth.
She is survived by her daughter, Carol Holloway and husband, William of La Grange; granddaughter, Sarah McDowell and husband, Dan, of Indian Trail, N.C.; grandson, Clay Holloway and wife, Janet, of The Woodlands; five great-grandchildren, Brandon, Bradley and Paige Holloway and Elizabeth and John McDowell.
Pallbearers will be Clay Holloway, Brandon Holloway, Ronnie Rhodes, Frank Davis Jr., John Harvey and Mike Sansing.
Asked to serve as honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Rhodes, Lynn Rogers Rhodes, Vernon Goforth and Charles Casey.
Levi ‘Sonny’ Francis Sessums
CLARKSVILLE — Levi “Sonny” Francis Sessums, 85, of Avery died Saturday, Jan. 28, 2006, at Wadley Hospital in Texarkana.
Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31, at Avery Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Roddy Jackson and Tommy Sessums officiating. Interment follows in Avery cemetery under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home.

He was born Oct. 23, 1920, in Bennington, Okla., the son of William Daniel and Mary Ethel Jones Sessums. He was a dedicated family man and was in the Army for four years during World War II. He was a mechanic with Red River Army Depot for 35 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Virgil Sessums.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Wall Sessums of Avery; son William “Larry” Sessums of Texarkana; daughters, Joyce Frances Butler of Avery, Kay Harper of Paris and Josie Marie Browning of Avery; sister, Ruby Kensey of Grand Prairie; brothers, Lloyd Sessums of Blossom, Delbert Sessums of Honey Grove, Sidney Sessums of Euless and Floyd “Monk” Sessums of Cuthand; eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Marvin D. Hoffmaster
Marvin D. Hoffmaster, 79, of Paris died Friday, Jan. 27, 2006, at his son’s residence after a long fight with cancer.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31, in Gene Roden’s Sons Funeral Home Chapel with Military Honors presented by the U.S. Navy. Cremation is under the direction of Gene Roden’s Sons Funeral Home.

He was born July 23, 1926 in Madison, Wis., the son of William and Mae Wilde Hoffmaster. He served honorably with the U.S. Navy during World War II, captured by the Japanese and serving for 18 months as a prisoner of war. He married
Sandra Vaughn on Sept. 11, 1964, in Fayetteville, Tenn. He worked for Link Shows Carnival for 45 years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He will be dearly missed. He was a member of the Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Larry Hoffmaster of Madison, Wis.; grandsons, Gregory Scott Ricketts of Paris and Danny Paul of Geneva, Ohio.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Sandra Hoffmaster of Paris; five sons, Joseph Ricketts Jr. and his wife, Grace, of Paris, Marvin Scott Hoffmaster and wife, Holly, of Carrollton, Ga., Rodney Hoffmaster and wife, Norma, of Owatonna, Minn., James Ricketts of Blountstown, Fla. and Dean Hoffmaster and wife Pat, of Reno; two daughters, Peggy Sigley of Geneva, Ohio and Anne Hoffmaster of Paris; eight grandchildren, Joey Ricketts of Minnesota, Nellie Myra Ricketts and her fiance, Brandon Rhoades of Paris, Ashley Hoffmaster, Michelle Hoffmaster of Owanntana, Minn., Tommy Sigley of Geneva, Ohio, Christian Gregory Scott Hoffmaster of Carrollton, Ga., Steven and Michael Hoffmaster of Reno; two great-grandchildren, Brandon Scott Rhodes of Paris and Braydin Rhodes of Paris.

Wanda Lee McElroy, 70, of Paris passed away Sunday, Jan. 29, 2006, at her home.

She was born Jan. 28, 1936, in Howland, the daughter of William Ardell and Mable Chance Gray. She married
Tommy McElroy on Dec. 26, 1936, 1953. He preceded her in death on June 22, 2004. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church and retired from Campbell Soup Company in 1994, following 25 years service to the company.
Survivors include three sons, Danny McElroy and wife, Doris, of Paris, Rodger McElroy of Hawaii and Michael McElroy of Lewisville; one daughter, Linda Easton and husband, Chris, of West Point, MS; seven grandchildren, Chadley Easton, Jeffrey Easton, Kyle Easton, Logan McElroy, Tory Branum, Caitlin McElroy and Jennye Woodard; three great-grandchildren, Bailea Branum, Cameron Branum and Caden Easton; two brothers, John H. Gray of Paris and Gene Gray of Lufkin, along with one sister, Louise Cope of Howland.
Casket bearers will be Michael McElroy, Danny McElroy, Chadley Easton, Jeffrey Easton, Kyle Easton and Logan McElroy.
Ruby Lee Sullivan
HONEY GROVE — Ruby Lee Sullivan, 91, of the Forest Hill Community passed away Sunday, Jan. 29, 2006, at Honey Grove Nursing Center.
Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31, at Cooper-Sorrells Chapel in Honey Grove with the Rev. Herbert Sherwood officiating. Burial follows in Forest Hill cemetery.
The family receives friends from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, prior to the service.
She was born Jan. 25, 1915, to James Authur and Lora Bowles Halliburton. She married
John Charles Sullivan on July 29, 1939, in Dallas. He passed away Oct. 22, 1980. She was a member of the Forest Hill United Methodist Church and a retired railroad employee. She was the owner and operator of Back-Side of No-Where, there she spent many happy hours giving to the community.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers and a half brother.
She is survived by two half sisters; one half brother and several nieces, nephews and a special friend, Jewel.
Pallbearers will be Richard Gadberry, Ronnie Stockemer, Bryan Jolly, Cameron Grubert, Johnny Halliburton, Jimmy Halliburton and Jerry T. Halliburton.
Doris Toon Coplin

She was born March 19, 1915, in Enloe. She was the daughter of Robert A. Toon and Clyde Powers Toon. She was a homemaker. She married
C.R. Coplin and he preceded her in death in 1981.
She is survived by a son, Charles Robert Coplin; daughter, JoAnne Prince of Mesquite; brother, Billy Joe Toon of Lancaster; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
