Jay Jordan
COOPER — Jay Jordan, 88, of Lake Creek, passed away Saturday, Jan. 28, 2006, at Paris Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31, at East Delta Baptist Church with Cooper Thacker officiating. Interment follows in East Delta cemetery under the direction of Delta Funeral Home.
The family receives friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
He was born June 24, 1917, in Grand Prairie. He was the son of Jim Jordan and Bessie Hughes Jordan. He was a Transport Driver, lived in Delta County the past 32 years and was a member of the Lone Willow Baptist Church in Cleburne. He married
Kathryn Marie Gandillon on Feb. 15, 1940.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert and Lonnie Jordan; sisters, Mable Crutcher, Nina Cordell, Myrtle Trigg and Iva Smith.
Survivors include his wife, Kathryn Marie Jordan of Charleston; daughters, Judy Goode of Cooper, Barbara Morrison of Mansfield, Betty Bradshaw and Virginia Clark, both of Charleston; sister, Ruby Johnson of Terrell; seven grandsons; one granddaughter and 11 great-grandchildren.
Belton Deward Stanphill
CLARKSVILLE - Belton Deward Stanphill, 78, of Garland, formerly of Red River County, died Thursday, Dec. 3, 1998.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, in Lindeman Chapel of Clarksville Funeral Home with the Rev. John McCollister officiating. Burial will be in New Sharmock cemetery.
He was born July 28, 1920, in Bagwell to Deward and Julia Stanfield Stanphill. He served in the Air Force during World War II.
Surviving are a son, Steven Stanphill of Richardson; a brother, Herbert R. Stanphill of Dallas; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife and a son.
Marvin "Son" Shows
BOGATA - Marvin "Son" Shows, 87, of Pasadena, Texas, and formerly of Bogata, died Friday, Dec. 4, 1998, in Bayshore Medical Center in Pasadena.
Funeral services will be 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6, under the Pavilion of Bogata cemetery, with the Rev. Park Robertson officiating. Wood Funeral Home will make burial in Bogata cemetery.
Mr. Shows was born Sept. 7, 1911, in Rosalie, a son of Ben and Jimmie Thron Shows. He married
Ivy Summers Sept. 25, 1937, in Bogata.
He was a decorated World War II Army veteran receiving three bronze stars serving in the Asiatic Pacific Campaign and the Philippine Liberation.
Survivors include his wife, Ivy Shows of Pasadena; a brother, Benny Shows of Pasadena; a sister-in-law, Ruth Little of Cooper; good friends Mary and Dan Meitzen and Jean and Ken Wottrich, all of Pasadena, and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family requests donations be made to the American Lung Association.
Levi Hubbard
Levi Hubbard, 85, of Paris, died Monday, Nov. 30, 1998 in McCuistion Regional Medical Center.
Graveside services will be Monday, Dec. 7, in the Fairland-Littlejohn cemetery, with Rondie Williams officiating.
He was born July 4, 1913, in Bowie County, the son of Leroy and Katherine (Smith) Hubbard.
Bobbie L. Shelton
BOGATA - Bobbie L. Shelton, 58, of Hagansport, died Friday, Dec. 4, 1998, at his home.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 7, in Lake Chapel Church with the Rev. James Martin, Kenny Shelton and Mike Shelton officiating. Burial will be in Conners cemetery in Hopkins County under direction of Wood Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. Monday at the church.
Mr. Shelton was born July 22, 1940, in Hopkins County, a son of Erma and Vilene Beatrice Sheppard Shelton. He married
Etta Faye Fain Jan. 20, 1961.
He was a retired oil field worker.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Billy Shelton of Hagansport and Mike Shelton and wife Sheila of Neosho Missouri; two brothers, Ken Shelton of Hagansport and Jim Shelton of Seattle, Wash.; and four grandchildren.
Wilma "Billie" McKee
Wilma "Billie" McKee, 70, of Paris died Saturday, Dec. 5, 1998, in St. Joseph's Hospital and Health Center.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Monday, Dec. 7, in Gene Roden's Sons Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ken Cannon officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.
The family will receive visitation from 7-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Mrs. McKee was a housewife and a Baptist.
She was born Dec. 2, 1928 to Tari and Mamie Carson and married
Wesley Lewis McKee Dec. 12, 1972.
Survivors include the husband; a daughter, Sherrie Williams and husband Preston of Paris; two sons, Larry Carl Womack and wife Donna of Paris and Michael Eddie Womack and wife Amy of LaPorte; four sisters, Imogene Milican of Paris, Bonnie Carson of Honey Grove, Clara Byrd of Honey Grove and Myrtle Barnes of Paris; a brother, Buddy Carson and wife Jo Ann of Pottsboro; five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Ruby Lee McLaughlin
Ruby Lee McLaughlin, 85, of Cherry Street Manor, formerly of 194 E. Oak Ave., died Tuesday, Dec. 1, 1998, at St. Joseph's Hospital and Health Center.
Bright-Holland Funeral Home conducted graveside services at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4, at Evergreen cemetery with the Rev. Joe Blackshear officiating.
Mrs. McLaughlin was born March 11, 1913, in Hagansport to W.B. and Sapronia Haley Roach. She married
Elmer Elie McLaughlin April 4, 1926, in Hopkins County.
Surviving are her husband; four children, Johnny McLaughlin of Paris, Lenore Richey and husband Sydney of Sulphur Springs, Sherry Doyal and husband Mike of Fort Towson, Okla., and David L. McLaughlin and wife Linda Lyn of Paris; two sisters, Ethel Wood of Sulphur Springs and Lunell Graham of Paris; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Bobby (Linda) McLaughlin of Blossom;14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren;and one great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, Edwin and Bobby McLaughlin, and by a grandson, Rob Richey.
Lena Jane Braswell
Lena Jane Braswell, 102, formerly of Paris, died Thursday, Dec. 3, 1998, at her residence in Carrollton where she had resided with her daughter for the past several years.
Fry and Gibbs Funeral home will conduct graveside services at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, in Evergreen cemetery with Geoffrey M. Nance officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the home of John and Stella Nance, 940 Brandyn Place, Paris.
Mrs. Braswell was born July 11, 1896, in the Maxey community to George W. and Sally Garner Boaz. She attended Lamar County schools and North Texas Normal College in Denton in summers to obtain her permanent teacher's certificate, teaching in the winters. She taught 14 years in Lamar County rural schools.
In 1929 she married
Jesse McClain Braswell. He served as county judge, assistant county attorney, and county attorney until his death May 30, 1955.
She had been a member of Lamar Avenue Chuch of Christ until moving to Carrollton. There she had joined Riverside Church of Christ in Coppell.
She had lived through six wars and the depression of the 1930s. Her great love in love was her gardening and working outside was her life. She remained a staunch Cowboy supporter to the end.
Surviving are a daughter, Mary Elizabeth Smith of Carrollton; two granddaughters, Susan Nall and husband Arnold of Midland and Stephanie Smith of Grapevine; and several nieces and nephews.
Harold Rayburn Hill Jr.
DALLAS - Harold Rayburn "Hal" Hill Jr., 36, of Mesquite died Tuesday, Dec. 1, 1998, at Columbia Medical City in Dallas following a courageous 18 month battle with cancer.
Memorial services were at 3 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4, at Casa View Baptist Church in Mesquite with the Rev. John West, associate pastor of Prestonwood Baptist Church, officiating. He will be eulogized by his father, Rayburn Hill. Restland Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
Mr. Hill was born April 27, 1962, in Dallas. He was a graduate of Rockwall High School, Eastfield College, and Texas A&M University. He taught and coached 12 years in Rockwall, Hays County and Mesquite public school. He attended Lake Pointe Baptist Church in Rockwall and was an athlete and an avid fan of football, baseball, basketball, tennis and golf. He had two holes-in-one to his credit playing golf.
Surviving are his wife, Paula Parton Hill and daughter, Caitlyn Brooke Hill of Mesquite; his parents, Rayburn and Nancy Bonham Hill of Rockwall; a grandmother, Ida Mae Bonham of Paris; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Paul and Julie Parton of Colorado Springs, Colo., and numerous in-laws, uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, American Brain Tumor Association, or the Hal Hill Fund at Gateway National Bank in Balch Springs.
