James Geron Daughtrey
James Geron Daughtrey, 53, of Paris died Saturday, May 20, 2000, at Christus-St. Joseph's Hospital.
Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 23, at Fry and Gibbs Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mike Fortenberry and the Rev. Joe Blackshear officiating. Burial will be in Long cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7-8 p.m. Monday and will be at the home of Sandra Warren, 4415 Sleepy Hollow, in Twin Lakes addition at other times.
He was born Oct. 11, 1946, in Paris to James Wesley "Jaybo" and Evelyn McDowra Daughtrey. He worked for Daughtrey lawn maintenance and was a Baptist.
Surviving are his brother, Freddy Daughtrey and wife Cathey; sisters, Sandra Warren and husband Jim, Sharon Hampton and husband Bob, Jana Mitchell and husband Arlon, all of Paris; nieces and nephews, Chris, Brian and Jason Upchurch, Allison Martin, Chad Ward, Laurie Rhodes, Lance, Corby and Jay Daughtrey, Brian and Kristi Robbins and a very special friend, Cathy Nelms. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Kenny Daughtrey.

Angie J. Smith
DEPORT - Angie J. Smith, 84, of Deport died at Christus St. Joseph's Hosptial Saturday May 20, 2000.
Services were at 2 p.m. Monday, May 22, in Life Tabernacle Church with the Rev. Bob Freeman officiating. Burial was in Restland cemetery at Cunningham by Wood Funeral Home.
She was born Sept. 19, 1915, to Jim and Ivy Lee Sanders Taylor. She married
Alfonzo Smith July 2, 1932, in Hugo, Okla. He died May 30, 1995. She was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Opal Juanita Smith in March 1937; her parents, two brothers, two sisters, a grandson; and several great-grandchildren.
Surviving are 12 children, Darrell Wayne Smith of English, Donald Ray Smith of Deport, James Paul Smith of Seagoville, Charles D. Smith of Blossom, Sue Goley of Paris, Grant Smith of Grand Prairie, Ruth Ann Coleman of South Haven, Miss., Shirley J. Haskell of Detroit, Karan Cherry of Irving, Barbara Merchant of Bogata, Larry Smith of Cunningham, Lester Hendseron of Seagoville; 36 grandchildren; 76 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; four sisters, Theo Armstrong of Wills Point, Cleo Nabors of Mississippi, Lorene Lawler, and Goldie Marshall of Paris.
Melvin Joe "Tex" Thielman
Melvin Joe "Tex" Thielman, 69, of Paris died Saturday, May 20, 2000, at his home, of a heart attack.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 23, at Gene Roden's Sons Funeral Home Chapel with Frank Thielman and Dr. John Kelley officiating. Visitation will be from 7-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
He was born Aug. 15, 1930, in Hinkley to Charles Henry and Johnnie Mae Hayes Thielman. He married
Emma Lloyd Herron April 1, 1955. He graduated from Paris High school in 1949 and served in the Navy during the Korean conflict. He attended Paris Junior College and graduated from barber school in 1955. He was a deacon at Faith Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are his wife; four children, Kristie and David Beard of Mesquite, Rusty and Debbie Thielman of Paris, Joe David and Karen Thielman of Garland, and Johanna and Carlton Moore of Mesquite; three brothers, Henry and Gene Thielman of Paris and Calvin Thielman of Montreat, N.C.; and a sister, Hazel Wright; a lifelong fiend Bill Haynes; and a brother-in-law, Clark Barnett.
He was known as "Pappy" by his seven grandchildren, Brittany, Emily and Ethan Beard, Alexandra and Ashley Moore, all of Mesquite, Amanda and Erick Hines of Paris. He was preceded in death by a brother, Travis Thielman and a sister, Allene Oteimer.
James Evans Beckerley
LINDEN - James Evans Beckerley, 82, of Hide-a-Way Lake died Friday, May 19, 2000 in a Tyler hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 23, at Caudle-Rutledge Funeral Home Chapel in Lindale with Bill Powell officating. Graveside services and burial will be at 2 p.m. at Evergreen cemetery, Paris. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
He was born Sept. 10, 1917, in Paris and lives in Tyler before moving to Hide-a-Way Lake in 1982. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II, was a Mason, member of the Sharon Shrine Temple, and was a retired accountant for the U.S. Treasury Department. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur C. and Nora Ophelia Evans Beckerley; his stepmother, Mable Beckerley; and his wife, Susan Beckerley, on July 10, 1992.
Surviving are a son, Robert Beckerley of Lubbock, a step-brother, Bill Powell of Paris; a step-sister, Betty Bullen of Corpus Christi; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Calvin McFadden Jr
COOPER - Calvin McFadden Jr., 73, died Saturday, May 20, 2000, at Harris Hospital HEB, in Bedford.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 23, at Delta Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Danny Robinson officiating. Burial will be in East Delta cemetery. Visitation will be from 7-8:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Surviving are his wife, Emma; sons, David McFadden of Wills Point and Gary McFadden of Euless; two sisters, Claudia McFadden of Paris and Billie Massey of Honey Grove; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Sara Gilmer
DETROIT - Sara Gilmer, 82, of Detroit died Sunday, May 21, 2000, at Deport Nursing Home.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Lone Star Congregation Methodist Church. Graveside ceremony will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Rose Mound cemetery in Commerce with the Rev. Don Shovan officiating.
Pallbearers will be Weldon Smith, Harold Verner, Charles Owens, W.L. Beers, Glen Coleman and Charles Carothers.
She was born Feb. 3, 1918, in Commerce to Jodie and Nonnie Elizabeth Russell. She was a homemaker and a member of Lone Star Congregational Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Marlin "Tex" Gilmer, May 2, 1996.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Marline and Dewey Thomas of Detroit; several nieces and nephews; grandchildren, Suzann and Don Shovan of Detroit, Sarena and David Owens of Detroit; great-grandchildren, Jill and Cory Owens of Detroit and Kyle Shovan of Detroit.
Family will receive friends 6:30-8 p.m. Monday at Clarksville Funeral Home, Clarksville.
Ina Sparks
DEPORT - Ina Sparks, 79, of Deport died at McCuistion Regional Medical Center Sunday, May 21, 2000.
Funeral services have been scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 23, at First United Methodist Church in Deport with the Revs. Jim Benfer and Chief Warden officiating. Burial will be at Highland cemetery. Wood Funeral Homes has charge of the arrangements.
She was born Jan. 31, 1921, in Paris to W.G. and Ella Essary Sparks. She began her 46-year teaching career in 1943 in the Deport school system, retiring in 1989. She received outstanding teacher of the year for Lamar County in 1965 by the Lamar County Chamber of Commerce, serving as yearbook sponsor and senior class sponsor. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Deport, teaching Sunday School for 25 years. She kept a diary for the last 54 years, loved game shows, crossword puzzles, and all sports even though she was unable to actively participate.
She is survived by her twin sister, Nina Sparks, of Deport; a sister-in-law, Elois Sparks, of Deport; several nieces and nephews and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers, Lundy Sparks, Austin Sparks, Elmer Sparks and Jim Sparks.
The family requests donations be made to the Scottish-Rite Children's Hospital or the charity of their choice.

Hannah Marie Ruthart
MABANK - Hannah Marie Ruthart, one-month-old, died Wednesday, May 17, 2000.
Graveside services were at 1 p.m. Friday, May 19, at Evergreen cemetery in Paris with the Rev. Bill Dickey officiating. Eubank Funeral Home of Mabank had charge of arrangements.
She was born April 16, 2000, in Dallas to Charles and Shana Osgood Ruthart.
Surviving are her parents who live in Arlington; grandmother, Barbara Ruthart of Arlington; grandmother, Gloria Ruthart of Seven Points; grandparents, Nicholas and Sheila Osgood of Florida; great-grandparents, James and Julia Griffin of Arlington and Ben and Dovie Udd of Tolar; aunts, Shalee and Ashriel Osgood of Florida; uncles, Waylon and Willie Ruthart of Seven Points; and numerous other family members and friends.
Pallbearers were Waylon and Willie Ruthart, Shane Doesher, and Greg Hill.
Lelia Lucille King
CLARKSVILLE - Lelia Lucille King, 95, former Red River County treasurer, died Thursday, May 18, 2000, in East Texas Medical Center-Clarksville.
Graveside services were held Saturday in Fairview cemetery, with the Rev. James Brown officiating. Burial was under direction of Clarksville Funeral Home.
She was born Nov. 23, 1904, in Clarksville. She was a daughter of Spot and Bell Gribsby.
She was a member of the Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Seth King.
Survivors include special friends J. R. and Glenis Lewis of Clarksville.
