James Billy "Bill" Matney
James Billy "Bill" Matney, 73, of Paris died Thursday, May 18, 2000, at McCuistion Regional Medical Center.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 20, at Gene Roden's Sons Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Moore and the Rev. Paul Davis officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Tabor cemetery. Visitation will be from 7-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
He was born April 15, 1927, in Fort Towson, Okla., to William and Bessie Moore Matney. After William's death, Bessie married
Ollie Tippit.
Mr. Matney was an avid member of Red River Valley Knife Association and the North Star of Texas Coin Club. He was a member of Emberson Baptist Church. He married
Marcella Varner May 15, 1958. He retired in 1989 from Superior Tech, Inc. after 21 years.
Suirviving are his wife; sons, Steve Matney and wife Mary of Benbrook and Keith Matney and companion Pam Figueroa of Paris; a very special granddaughter, Mallary Matney and her mother Tammy of Paris; sisters-in-law, Sarah and husband Charles Boren, Mable Patterson and Ollie Varner; a brother, Harrell Tippit and wife Anita of Paris; sisters, Betty Johnson and husband Sid of Blossom and Marie Morris of Mount Pleasant; and nieces and nephews, Lisa Johnson, Pam Norwood, Joey Hipp, Sherry Bibart, Todd Gose, Julie Gose, Laurie Redus, Donna Casper, Reva Bolton, Jeff Bolton, Kay Hayes, Gary Patterson and Kenneth Varner. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Freeman Tippit, and sister, Janie Gose.

Leona C. Crutchfield, 82, of Paris died Monday, May 16, 2000, in Watauga.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, May 19, at Gene Roden's Sons Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Cary Robinson officiating. Burial will be in Hopewell cemetery. Visitation will be from 7-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeal home.
Mrs. Crutchfield was born Feb. 22, 1918, in Fort Towson, Okla., to Andrew Jackson and Fannie Josephine Smith Rushing. She married
Albert Allen Crutchfield Jan. 11, 1936. He died Dec. 15, 1973. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.
Surviving are sons, Edgar Dee Crutchfield, Joe M. Crutchfield, Jerry M. Crutchfield, Ervin A. Crutchfield, Cecil Crutchfield, Bobby Crutchfield and Johnny Crutchfield; daughters, Edna E. Webb, Florence L. Jones, Judy Hornbeck, Sharon Austin, Kathy Evans, and Torchie Beatty; a sister, Nona D. Haley; two brothers, Rudy Rushing and Levi Rushing; over 50 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Dora Beatty, and a grandson, Kevin Evans.
Grandsons will be pallbearers.
Mitchell C. Jones
Mitchell C. Jones, 42, formerly of Paris died Jan. 25, 2000, at Camp Pendleton, Calif.
His body was cremated. Graveside services will be held at Sylvan cemetery at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 20, with Father Anthony Alphonse of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church officiating.
He was born June 11, 1957, in Dallas to Vivian Breit Jones and Mark A. Jones Sr. He served in the Marine Corps.
Surviving are a son, Christopher P. Jones of Arkansas, his mother, Vivian Jones Rowe of Paris; two brothers, Mark A. Jones Jr. of Plano and Matthew E. Jones of Hayward, Wis.; a sister, Yvonne A. Jones of Santa Barbara, Calif., a niece, Rachel Jones of Plano; and two nephews, Brian Jones of Wyoming and Shawn Bryson of Paris. His father preceded him in death.
Theron K. Bishop
Theron K. Bishop, 81, of Powderly died Sunday, May 14, 2000, at Paris Healthcare Center.
Bright-Holland Funeral Home conducted graveside services at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 17, at Long cemetery with the Rev. Van George officiating.
Mr. Bishop was born Aug. 7, 1918, in Stonewall, Okla., to Charles C. and Sylvia Bellew Bishop. He married
Geneva Chapman March 24, 1941, in Colgate, Okla. She died Nov. 24, 1996. He was career military, retiring from the Army as a master sergeant. He served during World War II and the Koren Conflict.

Margaret Isabelle Griffin Bell
DEPORT - Margaret Isabelle Griffin Bell died Sunday, May 14, 2000, in Deer Park.
Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, May 18, at Highland cemetery in Deport. The family will received visitors from 1-2:30 p.m. Thursday at Wood Funeral Home.
Mrs. Bell was born Dec. 16, 1913 in the Martin community to William B. and Stella Lathan Copley Martin. She graduated from Deport High School and graduated from Paris Junior College with honors and was a member of Theta Kappa. She married
Harold V. Griffin in 1934 and they had two sons, Dr. Harold W. and James Gary "Jimmy" Griffin. All preceded her in death.
She taught school in Lamar County and moved to Dallas where she was employed at East Dallas Hospital and Presbyterian Hospital, retiring in 1983 from Presbyterian Hospital to move to Deer Park to be with her family.
Surviving are daughters-in-law, Patti L. Griffin and Debbie Sanders; grandchildren, Kimbra Lynn Marcus and husband Baccus of Florida, Elyse Griffin Webster, Stacy Lynn, James Harold, and Ashli Nicole Griffin, all of Deer Park; Kandi Griffin Cobb and husband Carroll of Bacliff, Texas; and great-grandchildren, Caitlin of Florida and Justin Cobb of Bacliff.

CLARKSVILLE - Barbara Hall, 54, of Fort Worth, formerly of Clarksville, died Sunday, May 14, 200.
Services were at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 17, in Lindeman Chapel of Clarksville Funeral Home with burial in Jamison cemetery.
Surviving are her husband, Russell Hall; a son, Steve Chesshir of San Antonio; daughters, Belinda Chessir and Angela Elliott, both of Fort Worth; two sisters, Ruby West of Fort Worth and Doris Kiser of Clarksville; and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Martha Jane Jarrett.

CLARKSVILLE - Ross Kay Strate, 73, Rt. 1, Clarksville, died Monday, May 15, 2000, at St. Michaels Hospital, Texarkana.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 18, in Lindeman Chapel of Clarksville Funeral Home with the Rev. Mark Ritchey officiating. Burial will be in Lanes Chapel cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-5 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Surviving are his wife, Burnie; son, Terry Strate and wife Rhonda of Clarksville; daughter, Dina Herrmann and husband, Ronnie of Ford, Kan.; a sister, Roberta Hastings of Wichita, Kan.; a brother, Rex Strate of Kingsley, Kan., nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred, and a daughter, Rita Sonya Van Pelt.
Zelda Ruth Felts
Zelda Ruth Felts went home to be with the Lord she loved Tuesday, May 16, 2000. She departed this life to the next from the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Doris Felts. She had been living with them for the past four months.
Services will at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 19, at Fry and Gibbs Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
She was born Zelda Ruth Johnson April 26, 1913, in Gorman, Texas. She was later adopted by Mr. and Mrs. Henry England. W.O. "Dob" Felts and Ruth England Felts were married
Jan. 29, 1929, in Bonham by the Rev. B.F. Milam. "Mom" and "Papa" had been married
for almost 70 years at the time of his death Dec. 12, 1998. They had lived in Powderly for 30 years prior to moving to Wichita Falls eight years ago.
She was preceded in death by her husband, "Dob, " four brothers, and three grandsons.
Mrs. Felts has been a Christian since 1941 and was a member of East Paris Baptist Church at the time of her death. She had taught Sunday school for many years and was always active in the Baptist church of the community where she and her husband lived. For many years she worked in her home as a seamstress, sewing for the public.
Surviving are her children, the Rev. and Mrs. Bill Felts of Paris, Mr. and Mrs. Don Felts of Electra, Mr. and Mrs. Adrion Felts of Beleus Creek, N.C., and Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Holzer of Wichita Falls; 14 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Mark Felts, Gary Felts, Tim Felts, Zack Felts, Bart Holzer, Lynn Holzer, Greg Holzer, and Cory Holzer. www.legacy.com
