Harding Sisco
HONEY GROVE - Harding Sisco, 78, Rt. 2, Honey Grove, died Monday, May 15, 2000, at Christus St. Joseph's Hospital, Paris.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 17, at Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dan Boyd and the Rev. Russ Noland officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood cemetery. Visitation will be from 7-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Surviving are his wife; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kay and Clyde Nelms of Honey Grove and Sue and David Newburn of Kilgore; four grandsons; two granddaughters, 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Jewel Burtram.

Don Nolen
BOGATA - Don Nolen, 73, of Bogata died Sunday, May 14, 2000, in East Texas Medical Center, Clarksville.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 18, at Grace Temple Baptist Church in Kermit with burial in Kermit City cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. Tuesday at Wood Funeral Home in Bogata.

Mr. Nolen was born Oct. 18, 1926, in Cunningham to Joseph Floyd and Maudie Lee Cooper Nolen. He married Billie Spears Aug. 30, 1947, in Kermit. He was retired from Bass Enterprises where he worked for over 20 years as a gang pusher in oil fields.

Surviving are his wife; a son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Janice Nolen of Smithville; two grandchildren, Marvin Wayne and Cassie Lee Nolen; three great-grandchildren, C.J. Nolen, Patrick Lee Smith, and Jacob Andrew Smith; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Andrea Gale Burns Phifer
COOPER - Andrea Gale Burns Phifer, 34, died Monday, May 15, 2000, at her home in Cooper.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 17, at First Baptist Church of Cooper with the Rev. Jackie Stanfield and the Rev. Chad Barnes officiating. Delta Funeral Home will make burial in Oaklawn cemetery. Visitation will from 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Phifer was born March 31, 1966, at Carswell Air Force Base in Fort Worth to Foy and Clarica Blackerby Burns Sr. She was a certified public accountant and had lived in Cooper since 1981. She was preceded in death by her father, Foy Melvin Burns Sr., Feb. 8, 2000. She married Bradley Wayne Phifer Aug. 12, 1984.

Surviving are her husband; her mother who lives in Pecan Gap; a son, Christopher Wayne Phifer of Cooper; a daughter, Cortney Ann Phifer of Cooper; and three brothers, Foy Melvin Burns Jr. of Waco, Lonnie Edward Burns of Fort Worth and Benny Clarence Burns of Arlington.

Essie Mae Annie Lee Kerbow
BOGATA - Essie Mae Annie Lee Kerbow, 90, formerly of Fulbright, died at her home in Lewisville Saturday, May 13, 2000.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 17, at Fulbright Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Solice officiating. Wood Funeral Home will make burial in Bethel cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Kerbow was born Aug. 21, 1909, in Pattonville to William Sterling and Queen Victoria Roberts Clarkson. She married Johnnie James Kerbow June 20, 1926, in Paris. He died Aug. 22, 1992. Mrs. Kerbow was a charter member of Fulbright Baptist Church and had worked as a baby nurse.

Surviving are her children and their spouses: sons, James Boyd and Katie Kerbow of Lewisville, J.W. "Dub" and Ruth Kerbow of Pine Grove, Calif.; a daughter, Robbie Nell and Lester Fosen of Morris, Ill.; 13 grandchildren; and a number of grandchildren, great and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Jewell Kelley.

Ross Strate of Clarksville died Monday, May 15, 2000, Clarksville Funeral Home.

Leona C. Crutchfield, formerly of Paris, died Tuesday, May 16, 2000, Gene Roden's Sons Funeral Home.

Robert Paul Fuller, 52, died in Columbia Hospital in Missouri, Monday, May 15, 2000, Millton-Taylor-Patton Funeral Home, Moberly, Mo.

Mildred Katherine Sherwood
HONEY GROVE - Mildred Katherine Sherwood, 76, of Sumner died Monday, July 3, 2000, at Honey Grove Nursing Home.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 5, at Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Herbert Sherwood officiating. Burial will be in Georgia cemetery in Lamar County. Visitation will be from 7-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Sherwood was born Feb. 5, 1924, in Michigan Prairie, Texas, to V.B. and Annie Bone Lair. She married Maurice Alvin Sherwood Oct. 18, 1941. He died Dec. 13, 1986. She was a homemaker and a devoted wife and mother. She was a lifelong resident of the Sumner area and was a 1941 graduate of Honey Grove High School. She was a member of the Baptist church.

Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas and Ginger Sherwood, V.J. and Carol Sherwood and Travis and Mitzi Sherwood, all of the Georgia community; three daughters and sons-in-law, Doris and Glen Schmitz of Patal. Miss., Nan and David Hart of Denison, and Teresa and Joel Stephens of Georgia community; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Frances Edelhauser and Valetta Gordon, both of Honey Grove. She was preceded in death by her husband and a son, Quinn, and a granddaughter.

Pallbearers will be Bryan Aldridge, Jason Sherwood, Will Sherwood, Quinn Sherwood, Kenneth Edelhauser, and Michael Sherwood.

Chad Everett Bennett
GILMER - Funeral services for Chad Everett Bennett will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 5, at Grubbs-Loyd Funeral Home Chapel in Gilmer with Mike Maxon officiating. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. in Restlawn cemetery in Sulphur Springs. Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Bennett died Saturday, July 1, 2000.

He was born Jan. 4, 1977, in Sulphur Springs and attended Sulphur Springs schools until the ninth grade when he moved to Birthright where he graduated in 1995. He moved to Gilmer in the latter part of 1995 and was employed at Yazell Chervolet.

Surviving are his wife, Crystal; son Christopher; mother and stepfather, Margaret and Kenneth Reeder of Paris; brother, Joseph Paul Bennett of Paris; his father, Gilbert Bennett of Arkansas; and a number of aunts, uncles, cousins and special friends.

Lee Roy Doty
Lee Roy Doty, 70, of Cleveland, Texas, died at the home of his daughter in Paris at 12:01 p.m. Sunday, July 2, 2000.

Fry and Gibbs Funeral Home will conduct graveside services at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 5, at Springhill cemetery with the Rev. Gerald Freelen officiating. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Doty was born Sept. 2, 1929, in Quanah to Loving Jay and Bertie Doty. He worked as an automobile parts buyer and was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church.

Surviving are five children, Larry Driver of Burleson, Connie Marvin of Ada, Okla., Palma Russell of Paris, Danny Doty of Harrison, Ark, and Lee Roy Doty Jr. of Cleveland; two sisters, Ruby Hope of Whitney and Pearl Dean Belcher of Quanah; one brother, Dutch Doty of Quanah; 15 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. www.legacy.com

Lillie Beatrice Denson
Lillie Beatrice Denson, 76, 3404 Clarksville St., died Friday, June 30, 2000, at McCuistion Regional Medical Center.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 5, at Fellowship Baptist Church with the Rev. Erie Furtch officiating. Maxey Funeral Home will make burial in Reeds Prairie cemetery.

She was born Oct. 17, 1923, in Lamar County to Aaron and Minnie James King Sr. and was retired from the Owl Drug Store where she worked 30 years.

Surviving are two sons, Donald Ray King of Dallas and Aaron Harvey King of Oklahoma City; a daughter, Janice Edwards of Paris; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Margaret Ann Wilhelm, 51, of Hugo died Monday, July 3, 2000, Prater, Lampton-Mills and Coffey Funeral Home.

Margaret O. Mitchell
CLARKSVILLE - Margaret O. Mitchell, 83, of Clarksville, died Saturday, July 1, 2000, at East Texas Medical Center.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 4, in Lindeman Chapel of Clarksville Funeral Home with burial in Fairview cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Surviving are sons and daughters in law, Ross and Pam Mitchell of Clarksville; William and Vette Mitchell of Hughes Springs, and Walter Mitchell of Texarkana; daughters, Delmaya Austin of Mesquite, Nadine and Bruce Leffel of Clarksville and Regina and Gary Drybread of Bisbee, Ariz; 21 grandchildren; and 42 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, William A. Mitchell; and two grandsons, Jerry Leffel and Jason Mitchel.
