Robert Harold Deaton
Robert Harold Deaton, 90, of Paris died at 2:05 p.m. Tuesday, June 27, 2000, at Deport Nursing Home.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 30, in Fry and Gibbs Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gaither Day officiating. Burial rites will be at 12:30 p.m. in Rose Hill cemetery, Pittsburg. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Deaton was born Oct. 9, 1909, in Pittsburg to Allen and Georgia Storey Deaton. He attended Pittsburg schools and East Texas State Teacher's College. He moved to Paris with the Federal Land Bank in 1938. He opened R.H. Deaton Tractor Co., in 1945 which became R.J. Deaton Seed and Feed Co., later incorporated as Red River Valley Produce Co. He was also a vice president and loan officer of First National Bank of Paris. He was an active member of First United Methodist Church and its Builders Class and was a past member of the administrative board of the church and was a past memer of the Paris Rotary Club.
He married
Ruth Ferguson April 15, 1933 in Texarkana. She died Nov. 23, 1997.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Dick and Glenda Deaton of Paris, and a grandson, Rod Deaton of Austin. He was preceded in death by his parents and four sisters. www.legacy.com
Clarence Cheatham
BOGATA - Clarence Cheatham, 82 of Bogata died Tuesday, June 27, 2000, at his home.
Wood Funeral Home will conduct graveside services at Cuthand cemetery at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 29 with the Rev. Glenn Renfro officiating. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
He was born Oct. 26, 1917, in Deport to Luther and Tennie Slaton Cheatham. He served in the Army during World War II and was retired from Campbell Soup of Paris. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Clarksville.
Surviving are are a son, Robert Cheatham and wife Pat of Sumner; a stepson Henderson Bratton of Bogata; one stepdaughter, Virginia Wright of Lubbock; three sisters, Faye Riggs of Nashville, Ark., Dorothy Betterton of New Boston, and Frances Skidmore and her husband Fred of Mesquite; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Gary Cheatham.

Billy Gene Milton
Billy Gene Milton, 55, of Hugo died Tuesday, July 8, 1997, at Horizon Specialty Hospital, Dallas.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 12, at the Wayside Church Of God In Christ with the Rev. Bernie Graham officiating. Maxey Funeral Home will make burial in Fairland-Littlejohn cemetery.
He was born March 27, 1942, in Paris to Joe and Marie Malone Milton. He has served in the Marine Corps.
Surviving are a son, Joe Milton III of Oklahoma City; daughters, Marion Milton of Dallas, Farrah Milton and Angel Milton, both of Hugo; sisters, Patricia Milton of Paris and Gerri Vaugh of Fort Worth; brothers, Thomas Milton of Paris, James McDonald and Larry Coursey, both of Fort Worth.
Pallbearers will be Billy Daniels, Cleo Hayden Sr., Sheffield Hayden Jr. Jimmy Booker and L.A. Thomas.
Lillie Mae Gibson
BOGATA - Lillie Mae Gibson, 72, formerly of Bogata, died Wednesday, July 9, 1997, in East Texas Medical Center, Tyler.
A memorial graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 15, at Cuthand cemetery with the Rev. Mike Green officiating. Wood Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
She was born March 2, 1925, in Red River County to William Marvin and Eula Mauldin Patton. She married
Levi Gibson in 1939 in Talco. He died May 13, 1992.
Surviving are a daughter, Melba Jean Williams of Hawkins; a son, Delbert Gibson of Australia; her mother, Eula Martin of Bogata; five sisters, Goldie Pollock of Pennsylvania, Johnnie Faye Yarbrough and Lillie White, both of Bogata; Fern Thomas of Mount Pleasant and Patricia Whitney of Cunningham; six grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Cecil Patton, and a sister, Mattie Bell Arnold.
Velma Gerleen Collins Morris
Velma Gerleen Collins Morris, 72, of Paris died Thursday, July 10, 1997, at St. Joseph's Hospital and Health Center.

She was born Sept. 3, 1924, near Northfield, Texas, to William Enoch and Martha McDonald Collins. She married
Harley Brazil Skidmore Jan. 14, 1943. He died March 12, 1981. She married
Homer Franklin Morris April 30, 1962, in Hugo, Okla. he died March 12, 1981.
Surviving are four children, Patsy Ruth Skidmore of Paris and Jacksboro, Harlan Ray Skidmore of Carrollton, Harvey Lynn Skidmore of New Braunfels and Melba Skidmore Brown of Paris; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Sue Skidmore, her parents, and a brother, William Thomas Collins.

Ayanna Monae Milton, six-months-old daughter of Morris and Kiowana Milton Robinson of Paris died at her home Thursday, July 10, 1997.

Doris Loraine Galyon, 83, Rt. 1, Roxton, died Friday, July 4, 1997, at St. Joseph's Hospital and Health Center.
Bright-Holland Funeral Home will conduct memorial services at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 12, at Restland cemetery in Roxton.
She was born Nov. 21, 1913, in Roxton to Jim T. and Zincy Bowen Penn. She married
the Rev. James E. Gaylon July 4, 1941. He died July 26, 1988.

John Rex Benniefield, 63, of Paris died at his home Friday, July 4, 1997.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 12, in Dogpatch, Ark. A wake will be held at 160 W. Center St., Paris, at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Surviving are his wife, Rita; six children, Mrs. Connie Rose, Diana Benniefield, Robert James Benniefield, Martha Ann Jones, and Barbara Smith all of of Paris, Nicholas McFadden of Arkansas; two brothers, Lloyd Benniefield Jr. of Cooper and Rex Bledsoe of San Juan; two sisters, Betty and Joyce of Cooper; his mother, Willie Bledsoe of San Juan; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and an aunt. He was preceded in death by a son.
Preston Fuller Wisely
FORT WORTH - Preston Fuller Wisely, 69, of Fort Worth, died Monday, Juoly 7, 1997, in Sumner.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 10, at South Hills Baptist Church. Burial will be in Laurel Land Memorial Park of Fort Worth.
He was born Sept. 25, 1927, in Sumner and was retired as chief chemist at General Dynamics after 39 years. He had served in the Army, receiving his discharge in 1947. He was a 1955 graduate of the University of North Texas and was a member of South Hill Baptist Church and Community Involvement.
Surviving are his wife of 39 yers, Mamie Shaw Wisely; a son and daughter-in-law, James R. and Brenda Wisely of Grapevine; a daughter, Melissa J. Wisely of Euless; a sister and brother-in-law, Gayle and Morris Dicken of Sumner; two grandchildren, Landon Wisely of Weatherford and Kristen Davis of Grapevine; an aunt, Evelyn Scott of Sumner; an uncle, Lloyd Wisely of Sumner; several cousins, and many nieces and nephews.
Artie Westbrook
DEPORT - Ms. Artie Westbrook, 88, of Deport, died Tuesday, July 8, 1997, at St. Joseph"s Hospital and Health Center.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 10, at Wood Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Highland cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
She was born Aug. 10, 1908, in deport to Samuel H. and Sarah Blanch Harris Westbrook. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Deport.
Surviving are two brothers and sisters-in-law, Ralph and Jane Westbrook of Deport and Boys and Clydelle Westbrook of Paris; two sisters-in-law, Edith Westbrook of Paris and Mary Westbrook of Virginia Beach, Va.; and many nices and nephews. She was preceded in death by six brothers and a sister, Mollie Cecil, Odis, Jim, Esker, Elbert, Earl and Donald Westbrook.
