Ola Martin Quinn
Ola Martin Quinn, 103, of Paris died Saturday, Oct. 18, 1997, in Cherry Street Annex.
Bright-Holland Funeral Home will conduct services at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Wildwood Chapel in Restland Memorial Park in Dallas, with the Rev. Robin Valdez, of the First Presbyterian Church of Lewisville, officiating. Burial will be in Restland Memorial Park.
Mrs. Quinn was born Oct. 4, 1894, in Garland, a daughter of Benjamin Franklin and Eva Beaver Martin. She married
W. L. Quinn June 3, 1920, in Dallas. He preceded her in death in 1942. She was retired from Sears & Roebuck Co. and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Lewisville. She was a member of the Business and Professional Women's Club, the Lewisville Study Club and the Lewisville Garden Club.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews, including Mary and John Madewell of Paris, John R. and Rose Martin of Lewisville, Tommy and Dorothy Coe of Greenville, Cecil and Polly Carter of Dallas, Mary Lou and Dr. William Anderson of Dallas, Maurine and Freddie McAlister of Dallas, Ola Jean and Zackie Burcham of Tulsa, Okla., and numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Michael Madewell, Jerry Madewell, John Madewell, Eric Miller, John R. Martin Jr. and Rudy Pedraza.
Ethel Smith
BOGATA - Ethel Smith, 98, of Bogata died Saturday, Oct. 18, in Red River Health Care Center.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21, in the chapel of Red River Health Care Center with the Rev. Mike Green officiating. Burial will be in Lone Star cemetery by Wood Funeral Home.
Miss Smith was born Nov. 11, 1898, in Red River County to G.L. and Josie Cowell Smith.
Surviving is a sister, Anna Belle Patton of Bogata; three nieces and one nephew.
Joy Townsend
Joy Townsend, 61, of Paris died Sunday, Oct. 19, 1997, at Cherry Street Manor.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21, at Chicota Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Sanders officiating. Burial will be in Forest Chapel cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Monday at Gene Roden's Sons Funeral Home.
Surviving are sisters, Laura Keller of Albuquerque, N.M. and Marie Collins of Fort Worth; brothers, Ray Davis of Chicota and Leon Townsend of San Angelo.
Pallbearers will be Jamie Keller, Don Slagle, Clarkson Sain, Jack Falls, Billy Garner and Jack Frierson.
Memorials may be made to Chicota Baptist Church Building Fund.
Beaulah Pearl Williams
Beaulah Pearl Williams, 77, went to be with her Saviour Sunday, May 3, 1998, .
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 6, in Bright-Holland Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Bogata cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
She was born Feb. 22, 1921, in Rosalie, Red River County, to Elzie Francis and Flora Dowell Sales. She was a retired certified nurse aide and a member of Ramseur Baptist Church.
Surviving are four daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah Williams, Cynthia and James Rhodes, Vickie and Mike Horne, all of Paris and Mike and Dian Gose of Maxey; eight grandchildren, Becky and Rodney Jones, Lauren Rhodes, Meredith Rhodes, Randie Horne, Robin Horne, Cameron Gose and Cody Gose; a brother, Francis Sales of Farmersville; a sister, Ila Mae Morris of Waco; and an aunt, Jessie Dozier of Clarksville.
Joyce Dobson
CLARKSVILLE - Joyce Dobson, 64, of Clarksville died Saturday, May 2, 1998, at East Texas Medical Center, Clarksville.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 5, in Lindeman Chapel of Clarksville Funeral Home with the Rev. A.B. Kellam officiating. Burial will be in Knights of Honor cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
She was born July 26, 1933, in Colorado City, Texas to Robert and Edna Black Cain. She was an avid sports fan especially of the Texas Rangers. Her husband, Gordon "Buddy" Dobson, died in 1976.
Surviving are sons, Chuck Dobson and wife Charlotte and their children, Chartina, Charlie and Connie of Greenville; Ray Dobson of Colorado City and his son Kevin; Lyn Dobson and wife Betty of Garland and their son Jason; and Joe Dobson and wife Sally of Snyder and their son Todd; a daughter, Debbie Adams and husband Doyle of Clarksville and their son Curtis; a sister, Bessie House of Colorado City; and a brother, R.B. Cain of Colorado City.
Myrtle Adams
CLARKSVILLE - Myrtle Adams, 84, of Clarksville died Saturday, May 2, 1998, at Clarksville Nursing Center.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 5, at Clarksville Nursing Center with the Rev. A.B. Kellam officiating. Clarksville Funeral Home will make burial in Fairview cemetery.
Miss Adams was born Sept. 13, 1913, in Red River County to Frank and Buna Adams.
She is survived by a brother, Frank Adams Jr of Irving, and several nieces and nephews.
Inez W. Clowdus
DEPORT - Inez W. Clowdus, 76, of Irving, formerly of Lamar County, died Sunday, May 3, in Irving.
Services will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday, May 5, at Wood Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Highland cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Clowdus was born Nov. 18, 1921, in the Crossroads community of Lamar County to Coy and Ionia House Pomroy. She married
Albert Lynn Clowdus June 1, 1939, in Lamar County. He died Sept. 3, 1973. She worked as a nurses aide at Irving Care Center for a number of years.
Surviving are two sons, Billy Clowdus of Little Elm and David Clowdus of Lewisville; four grandchildren; a sister, Dovie Dee Pomroy of Lewisville; numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchikldren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
John Millard Pruett
John Millard Pruett, 41, a meter reader for the city of Paris, died Sunday, April 19, 1998, at his Paris residence.
He was born June 30, 1956, a son of Leonard P. and Elaine Bramlett Pruett. He married
Robbie J. Haley Aug. 15, 1975.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 22, in Gene Roden's Sons Chapel, with the Rev. Randall Scott officiating. Burial was in Evergreen cemetery.
Survivors include the wife, Robbie Pruett of Paris; his mother, Elaine Pruett of Paris; two sons, Jonathon and Jason Robert Pruett, both of Paris, and a sister, Lynda Purett Nunn of Bedford.
He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, William "Bill" Pruett.
Nan Hardin
Nan Hardin, 91, formerly of Paris, died Saturday, May 2, 1998, at South Place Nursing Home in Athens.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 6, in the chapel of Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home. Burial will be in Meadowbrook Gardens cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Hardin was born Feb. 22, 1907, in Austin to I.N. and Josie Nickelson Duncan. She attended school at Springhill and later married
Joe J. Hardin in 1924 in Blossom. He died Oct. 19, 1971.
She was a homemaker and longtime member of Ramseur Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Dorris Butler of Phoenix, Ariz.; two sons, Billie Joe Hardin of Athens and John Louis Hardin of Longview; seven grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and two brothers, Will Duncan of Paris and Clyde Duncan of Altus, Okla.
