Wilbourne Franklin Lee, 86, of the East Post Oak Community passed away Monday June 30, 2008 at his home. Funeral services will be held at Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home 10:00 a.m. Thursday June 3 with Rev. Calvin Permenter and Rev. Henry Blackmon officiating. Burial will follow in the East Post Oak cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday at the funeral home from 5:30 until 7:00 p.m.
He was born February 28, 1922 in Lamar County a son of John William “Bill” and Rhoda Lou Turner Lee. He married
Geneva M. Low in East Post Oak February 20, 1946. He served his country during WWII in the Army. He was a graduate of Detroit High School and also from the Texas Baptist Institute in Henderson in 1972 and then later retired from Merico in 1984. He was a Baptist Minister and a member of Liberty Missionary Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Mary Lou Lee; infant brother, William Lee and a brother, Wallace Lee.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Geneva; a son, Johnie Lee; a sister, Billie Ruth Bates; 4 Nieces and 3 Nephews and numerous Great Nieces and Nephews.

Pallbearers will be J.L. Furra, James Lee, Mark Bates, Donald Reynolds, Jerald Williams and James Alvin Freelen. Honorary pallbearers will be fellow ministers of the American Baptist Association.
Harold R. Davenport

Harold R. Davenport 70, of Paris passed away Sunday June 29, 2008 at his residence.
He was born on April 17, 1938 a son of William and Ethel Goolsby Davenport. Harold worked for many years for NAPA Auto Supply and retired from Paris Regional Medical Center.
He was preceded in death by his wife Joan W. Davenport on September 11, 2007. They married
July 14, 1984. He was also preceded in death by 5 brothers.
He is survived by daughters Sarah Jane Moore and Bruce W. Moore of Dallas, Edna Tuttle and Albert E. Tuttle of Hurst, Terri McLaughlin and Willie Moss of Paris; grandchildren James E. Tuttle and Justin D. Tuttle of Hurst; sister-in-law Bettye Davenport of Garland; brothers Robert Davenport of Oxnard, CA, Richard Davenport of Paris, James Davenport of Reno, Nevada, and Charley Davenport of Houston; sister Katherine Brooks of Thicket, TX.
Graveside services will be conducted at 9:00 A.M. Wednesday in the Evergreen cemetery with Rev. Mark Sanders officiating
Lawrence Ray Raper

Lawrence Ray Raper 71, of Reno passed away Saturday June 28, 2008 at his residence. Lawrence was born on January 24, 1937 in Bagwell, Texas a son of Edgar George and Evy Lee Fay Clarkson Raper.
He was a 1955 graduate of Paris High School, member of MGA, and was an avid golfer at Pine Ridge Golf Course. Lawrence was retired form the U.S. Navy in 1975 a weapons system trainer and was a flight or tactics technician. He received the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal in June of 1975. Lawrence had a degree in Electronic Technology and taught basic electronics at Paris Junior College.
He and his wife Barbara traveled extensively overseas working for the Department of Defense with Tracor & Raytheon for 20 years retiring in 1998. They traveled to Japan, Korea, England, France and Saudi Arabia. Upon returning to the states they lived in Panama City Beach, Florida for four years and then returned home to Paris to spend time with family and friends.
On July 9, 1979 he married
Barbara France Eaton in Hugo, Oklahoma. She survives. Lawrence is also survived by children Bryan Raper and wife Windera, Gregory Raper and wife Tracy, Cari Bailey and husband Brian, Wanda Eaton, David Eaton and wife Patty, Donald Eaton, and Ann Eaton; grandchildren Lauren, Kyle and Jake Raper, April Coward and husband Jayson, Kara Kammer, Jami Birdsong and husband Jodi, Trey Jenkins, Brad and Fillip Gann, Lisa Callicoat and husband Jeremy, Randa Heintz and husband Patrick, Melanie Leonard and husband Steven, Donald Ray Eaton III, Billy Ray Eaton, Richard Eaton, Joshua, David, Matthew, & Jeremy Wings, John & Zak Johnson; great grandchildren Jaci & Zack Coward, Skylar Kammer, Evelyn Birdsong, Tanner and Raegan Callicoat, Jordan Robles and Harlin Leonard; sister Georgia Weddle and husband Billy Mack; nieces Tracie Langford and husband Fred and son Aaron, Kelly Reves and husband Ricky and daughter Kameron; longtime friends J.J. Caruso and Brent McKee and all of his golfing buddies at Pine Ridge Golf Course; his very special four legged buddies Laci, Kaci, & Shasta. He was preceded in death by his parents, son David Raper, and grandsons Joseph Eaton and Joshua Eaton.
Memorial services will be conducted at 6:00 P.M. Tuesday July 1, 2008 in the chapel of Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home. Family will receive friends from 7:00 P.M. till 8:00 P.M. after the service. John William McCoy, Jr.

JOHN WILLIAM McCOY, JR. 64, of Paris passed away Friday, June 27, 2008. Funeral services are set for 2:00 PM, Wednesday, July 2, 2008 at First Christian Church with Rev. Bob Chandler officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00-8:00 PM, Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.
John lived a very full and active life as a CPA in Paris. He was a proud graduate of Texas A&M; University-Class of 1966. He was a member of the Paris Kiwanis Club, the Lamar County A&M; Club, and his beloved First Christian Church. He was a dedicated, long time member of the church choir and served as the church treasurer.
Some of John’s most admired attributes were as a loyal, dedicated husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. John was a very generous person as he touched many peoples’ lives. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth McCoy; son, Ryan McCoy; daughter, Malley McCoy White; daughter-in-law, Lorelei Samuel McCoy; son-in-law, Chris White; three beautiful granddaughters, Madeleine White, Katherine White and Mara McCoy; his sister, Linda Christian; nieces, Angela Samide, Lori Benson, their families, as well as many cousins, and two aunts.

Colonel Thomas Monroe Hagood, Jr.

Colonel Thomas Monroe Hagood, Jr., 88 years of age, passed away on Friday, June 27, 2008 at the Paris Regional Medical Center. A service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 3, 2008 at Central Presbyterian Church. A reception will follow in Fellowship Hall immediately after the service. The Reverend Sharon Hagood Amstutz, Johnson City, Tennessee and the Reverend Marcia Miscall will conduct the service. Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home is handling the arrangements for the service and the military committal service which will take place at a later date.
Colonel Hagood, was born in Paris on January 30, 1920 to Ellen Mae Norwood and Thomas Monroe Hagood, Sr. He was a member of a pioneer family, as his great, great-grandfather came to this area of The Republic of Texas in 1839.
He attended Paris public schools and graduated from Paris High School in 1937. He attended Texas A & M University, then known as the Agricultural and Mechanical College of Texas, where he studied engineering and received a bachelor of science degree in Mechanical Engineering. He excelled in military science and served as regimental commander of the Coast Artillery Corps. The entire senior class of Texas A&M; was commissioned as second lieutenants in May, 1941, and Tom was sent to Fortress Monroe, Virginia for his first assignment.
His World War II service was in the Asian-Pacific Theater of Operations in the Aleutian Islands where he commanded an anti-aircraft battery from 1942 until late 1944. Stationed on Amchitka Island, the 203rd Coast Artillery was considered the closest American troops to the Japanese mainland during that time. He served at other installations after returning from overseas, and he retired from active service in the winter of 1945. He continued to serve in the Army Reserve until January 30, 1980 reaching the rank of full colonel. In addition to campaign service medals and battle stars, he was honored with the Meritorious Service Medal. He was a graduate of the Army Command and General Staff College, Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas and taught several summers at that school.
As a member of the “Greatest Generation”, Colonel Hagood was one of the kindest of gentlemen, a true “gentle” man and in his own quiet way willing to help anyone. He was faithful to his country, his community, his church, and especially to his family and friends.
Colonel Hagood was a Professional Engineer holding an early registration number in Texas. He was recently recognized by the Texas Board of Professional Engineers as an active Professional Engineer for over fifty years. He was an engineer in the Headquarters of District #1, Texas Department of Transportation for twenty-nine years, retiring in 1979. He was a consultant to the City of Paris, serving on the traffic committee and the airport advisory board.
He belonged to Central Presbyterian Church where he was a Trustee, an Elder and served as Clerk of Session. Six generations of his family have belonged to this congregation. He was on the board of Goodland Academy in Grant, Oklahoma, a school belonging to the Presbyterian Church, USA. He was a member of the Paris Rotary club and was honored as a Paul Harris Fellow. He served as President of the local club and participated on several district Rotary committees during his fifty-five years as an active and honorary member.
Tom married
Louise Wimberly Hagood of Houston on February 3, 1942 in Las Vegas, Nevada. They recently celebrated their sixty-sixth wedding anniversary. He is survived by his wife, brother and sister-in-law, William Norwood Hagood and Ruth Billingsley Hagood, Tucson, Arizona; three daughters, Susan Hagood White and Colonel Gerald White, Williamsburg, Virginia; Barbara Hagood Kohls and Colonel Kenneth Kohls, Paris; and Nancy Hagood Klein, Albuquerque, New Mexico; six grandchildren, Mara Kohls Barker, David White, Amy Kohls Buehler, Gordon White, Jeffrey Radighieri, and Greg Radighieri. He also has eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by niece, Sharon Hagood Amstutz and nephew, Paul Hagood.

Helen Catherine Morgan

HELEN CATHERINE MORGAN 88, of Paris, died at 1:15 AM, Thursday, July 24, 2008 at Legend Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, July 26, 2008 at Restland cemetery in Roxton with Rev. Randall Scott officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00-7:00 PM Friday evening at the funeral home. Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Morgan was born December 12, 1919 in Roxton to George R. and Lillie R. Johnson Gentry. She graduated from Roxton High School and married
James Creed Morgan on March 9, 1940 in Paris. He died October 15, 1957. Mrs. Morgan was a manager in the food service division of the Garland ISD for many years. She was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church.
Mrs. Morgan is survived by two brothers, Billy R. Gentry and Randell W. Gentry and wife, Martha of Paris; one sister, Melonese Bonner of the Sylvan Community; and twelve nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, George Gentry, Jr. and J.D. Gentry; and two sisters, Edna Branum and Frances Gower.
Honorary pallbearers will be Mrs. Morgan’s nephews.
Charles Edward (Charlie) Ray

CHARLES EDWARD “Charlie” RAY 72, of Paris, died at 12:20 AM, Thursday, July 24, 2008 at his home with family by his side. A graveside service is set for 3:00 PM, Saturday, July 26, 2008 at the Antioch cemetery with Bro. Ronald Barnett and Bro. Brandon Teague officiating. Mr. Ray was born August 11, 1935 in Biardstown to Fred Chris and Lora Mae Ingram Ray. He married
Florence Ellen Hayles on September 22, 1961 in Paris. Mr. Ray was a heavy equipment operator in the Lamar County area for many years and retired as a machinist with Southwestern Foundry Corp. He was of the Baptist faith.
Mr. Ray is survived by his wife Florence Ray of Paris; one daughter, Sammie Sims of Fort Worth; and four grandchildren, Mathew, Tiara, Raven, and Angelina Sims. He was looking forward to the arrival of his first great-granddaughter, Jordan Nicole Sims. Mr. Ray is also survived by a brother, Jim Ray and wife, Exie of Paris; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Harold and Fred Ray; and two sisters, Allie Mae Ingram and Margaret Endsley.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bubba Ray, Wayne Ray, Robert Relford, Mike Ray, Tim Ray, and Phillip Miller.
Patricia Ann Hancock Holmes

Patricia Ann Hancock Holmes, 68, of Paris passed away Tuesday July 22, 2008 at Paris Healthcare Center. Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home will conduct graveside services at 10:00 a.m. Saturday July 26, 2008 at Hickory Grove cemetery with Rev. Bill Dickey officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday 7-8 p.m.
She was born in Petty, Texas a daughter of Wade and Frances Manuel Hancock. She was a LVN having worked at both hospitals in Paris and several nursing homes. She was a member of Petty Baptist Church.
Survivors include children, Ronnie Morgan and wife, Teresa, Tommy Sue Daniels and husband, Danny, and Wayne Morgan and wife, Barbara; her mother, Frances Hancock; 18 Grandchildren, 32 Great Grandchildren and 8 Great-Great Grandchildren; a brother, Danny E. Hancock and wife, Kay and numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her Father and a sister, Carolyn Drake.
Pallbearers will be Paul Drake, Brad Drake, Kenny Hancock, Daniel Hancock, Matthew Morgan and Lucas Morgan.
