M'Leah 'Tanne' Clepper-Haden
M'Leah 'Tanne' Clepper-Haden was born Apr. 25, 1970 in Odessa, Texas to Vicki (Thomas) and J. Gary Parrish. She passed from this life May 21, 2007, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock at the age of 37.
Tanne grew up in the Midland-Odessa area and Pawhuska, Okla. before graduating from High School in Midland. At the age of 15, she began working for Chick-Fil-A and at age 21, became the Owner-Operator of a store in Odessa. She was later chosen to be the Owner-Operator of the new store which opened at South Plains Crossing in Lubbock in 1999. Tanne was an active lady who enjoyed the outdoors, including jet-skiing, horseback riding, and water sports. She faithfully followed and supported the many activities of her daughter, MíLeah.
Survivors include her husband, Patrick Haden of Lubbock; daughter, MíLeah Clepper of Lubbock; step-daughter, Lexi Haden of Lubbock; parents, Vicki Mashunkashey and Mr. and Mrs. Gary Parrish of Midland; sister, Shyla Maisel of Lubbock; brother, Thomas McComic of Midland; step-sisters, Lori Wallace of Keys, Okla. and Sara Simmons of Midland; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Casey Clepper, who died in 1999.
Funeral services will be held on Friday May 25, 2007, at 10 a.m. at Bacon Heights Baptist Church, 54th and Slide Rd. Lubbock. Burial will take place in Resthaven Memorial Park in Midland, Texas on Friday afternoon at 3 p.m. The family will receive friends at Resthaven Funeral Home in Lubbock on Thursday May 24, from 6 to 8 p.m. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the charity of oneís choice.
Marty Mimms
Marty Mimms, 49, of Acuff passed from this life May 22, 2007. His wife, Susan, was at his side during his two year battle with cancer. Marty was surrounded by his family at the time of his death at his home.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, May 25, 2007, in Slaton's First Baptist Church, with Jack Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in Englewood cemetery under the direction of Englunds Funeral Service.
Marty was born March 8, 1958, in Lubbock. He was a life long resident and cotton farmer in the Acuff community. Marty graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1976 and attended West Texas A&M.; He was an active booster of Roosevelt FFA, Lubbock County 4-H Club, the NRA and member and deacon of Roosevelt Baptist Church.

Susan Ann Reed on Sept. 15, 1994, in Ransom Canyon.
Marty was preceded in death by his grandparents, Hal and Oma Martin and Lola and Robert Mimms.
Those left behind include Marty's wife, Susan of Acuff; sons, Chad Mimms of Idalou, Cody Pleasant and fiancČe Lauren Hart of Robertson, and Matthew Pleasant and fiancČe Brandi Gunn of Acuff; daughter, Kristin Mimms and fiancČ Russell Jones, Jr. of Lubbock; his parents, Jere and Bobbie Mimms of Ransom Canyon; brother, Brady and wife Janet Mimms of Acuff; sister, Pam Breuer of Lubbock; nephews, Rhett and Ryan Mimms; nieces, Mandy, Angie and Ashley; and his in-laws, Leo and Peggy Reed of Pearland.
Pallbearers will be his sons, Chad Mimms, Cody Pleasant, and Matthew Pleasant and friends, Mike Ragland, Carl Isett and Clay Phenix.
There will be a visitation at the funeral home Thursday, May 24th, from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m.
The family extends a special thank you to Drs. Robert Wolff and Steven Curley and their staffs at M. D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston and friends, Velma Franco, Yolanda Clay and Mike Ragland for the care and support that was provided to Marty and his family.

Tomas Gaona
Funeral services for Tomas Gaona, 79, of Lubbock will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 16, 2007, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, with Father John Cherolikal officiating.
Rosary will be 7 p.m. today, April 15, 2007 at Guajardo Funeral Chapels. Burial will be at Peaceful Gardens cemetery under the direction of Guajardo Funeral Chapels. He died on Friday, April 13, 2007, at Covenant Medical Center. He was born to Elias and Tirsa Gaona on Dec. 5, 1927, in San Benito. Mr. Gaona came to Lubbock in 1954. He married
Maria Hernandez on Nov. 23, 1955 in Lubbock.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Nicolas, Heriberto and Elias Gaona; and one nephew, Tomas Gaona of San Antonio. He loved conjunto music, San Antonio Style and his grandchildren and great-grandchild were his life.
Survivors include: his wife, Maria Gaona; three daughters, Diana Gaona, Becky (Felix) Martinez, and Lydia Gaona; one brother, Pedro Gaona of Lubbock; three sisters, Maria Belen Pacheco of Lubbock, Francisca Lopez of Petersburg, and Josephina Aparicio of Lyford; two grandchildren, Danie Martinez and Jon Martinez; one great-grandson, Noah Garcia; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends.
James "Jamie" Lee Henry
James "Jamie" Lee Henry walked the Stairway to Heaven early Saturday morning. He was 66 years of age; born on April 20, 1941.
He is survived by his father, Leon Henry of Lubbock; a brother, Reagan Henry of Texarkana; two sisters, Susie Mitchell of Meadow and Jeanie Burke of Austin; two nieces, April and Shaunda; four nephews, Shane, Brent, Brandon, Justin; and several great nieces and nephews.
Services for Jamie will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 7, 2007, at Sanders Memorial Chapel, with Dr. Ken Horn officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Sanders Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6:30 until 8 p.m.

George died June 4, 2007 in Portales, N.M. He was born May 2, 1935 in Bailey County. He married
Treva Jo Thompson in Boise City, Okla. on Sept. 19, 1959.
George was a member of 3rd & Kilgore Church of Christ in Portales, N.M. George served as a board member for Roosevelt County Electric for nine years, and board member of Roosevelt County FSA. George was active in the American Agriculture Movement and he was former owner of Autry water Well Drilling Company. He was a farmer and veteran of the US Army.
Survivors include his wife, Treva Joe of Portales; son, Wesley Autry Jr. of Dora, N.M.; daughters, Shonnye and her husband David Staber of Coppell, Teresa Varnell of Dora, N.M.; sister, Myrna Turney of Levelland; brothers, John of Edinburgh, Gene of Houston; six grandchildren, Danielle, Tori, Chase, Preston, Cassidy, and Mackenzie.

Joe Max Baker
Joe Max Baker, 50, of Lubbock passed away on June 3, 2007 at his home.
The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m., Wednesday at Sanders Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, June 9, 2007 at the Hub of the Plains, 3808-34th Street.
He was born in Dallas, Texas on Oct. 22, 1956. He was a graduate of Red Oak High School in 1975 and attended the University of Texas at Austin.
He joined the U.S. Air Force and proudly served as a Para Rescue in El Salvador.
He is survived by his loving wife, Jaqueline Baker; daughter, Holley Baker; father, Joe B. Baker; and countless friends. He was also a long standing friend of Bill W.

Virgil L. Short
Graveside services for Virgil L. Short, 77, of Runaway Bay, are scheduled for Saturday, June 9, 2007 at 2 p.m. at Cathedral in the Pines cemetery with Pastor Craig Wills officiating under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home.
Mr. Short passed away, Sunday, June 3, 2007 at Trinity Mother Francis Hospital in Tyler.
He was born May 9, 1930 in McCamey, Texas to the late Les and Georgia (Moser) Short.
Virgil was a member of the Runaway Bay Community Church where he lived for 20 years. He became the owner of Short/Field Chevrolet Dealership in Denver City for over 24 years. He was also known as a fisher of men and an avid fisherman.
Mr. Short was preceded in death by his parents, Les and Georgia Short.
Virgil is survived by his loving family including his devoted wife of 57 years, Gwenette Glover Short of Runaway bay, Texas; three sons, Gay Short and wife, Dana of Cedar Park, Gregg Short of Tyler, and Van Short of Austin; four grandchildren, Steve Short, Sarah Short, Brooke Short, and Blair Short; and one great grandchild, Trevor Short.
Pallbearers will be Danny Jones, Chris Davis, Mark Miller, Heath Johnston, Richard Whitfield, and David Lomax.

James Guest Baker
James Guest Baker was born in Lockney, Texas, June 3, 1917, to France and Leo M. Watson Baker. The family moved to Lubbock in January 1920 where he graduated from Lubbock High School and Texas Technological College. Mr. Baker served in the US Army Air Corps at Lubbock Army Airfield. At an early age, he and his brother Lennis started a printing business in the back of a garage. Later, in 1931, they opened the Tech Printing Company, which in 1934 became The Baker Company, carrying basic office supplies and later become the first in Lubbock to sell office furniture. In 1963, the well known Baker Gallery of Fine Art was established. In 1976, the Gallery was invited to display artwork at a White House State Dinner to honor German Chancellor Schmidt. After 65 years in business, The Baker Company was sold and is still in operation today.
Mr. Baker was a member of Kiwanis; an American Red Cross Board member; a United Way committee chairman; and Elder and Chairman of the Board at First Christian Church. He also was an active member of the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce and of the Chamber of Commerce Committee that formed the Lubbock Cultural Affairs Council, which is now known as The Lubbock Arts Alliance. He served as the Past President of the West Texas Museum Association and was an honorary member of the West Texas Museum Board of Trustees. Mr. Baker was the recipient of West Texas Museum Association Action Award; the first annual Legacy Award of Lubbock Arts Alliance; and the first Honorarium of Appreciation from the National Exhibits Foundation.
James Baker married
Betty Lindsey Aug. 18, 1940 in Lubbock. She preceded him in death Dec. 25, 1995 after 55 years of marriage. Survivors include his daughter, Candace and husband Steve Anderson of Lubbock; two granddaughters, Lindsey Anderson of Dallas and Melissa Pelsor of Hanover, Indiana; and two great grandchildren, Abigail and Greyson Pelsor.
Memorials are suggested to the First Christian Church Foundation, 2323 Broadway, 79401; the Carillon Foundation, 1717 Norfolk Ave., 79413; or the Museum of TTU Asso., 3301 - 4th St., 79409 .
Interment will be at 1 p.m. in the City of Lubbock cemetery. Memorial services will be 2 p.m., Thursday, June 7, 2007, in First Christian Church, with the Rev. Dr. Michael Passmore officiating. A visitation will be from 5 - 7 p.m., today, at Rix Funeral Directors, 1901 Broadway.
