J.B. Franks
James B. Franks Jr., 67, died Wednesday at a local hospital. Memorial services will be held Saturday, June 30, 2007, at 2 p.m., in the W.W. Rix Memorial Chapel.
Mr. Franks was born in Brownfield Oct. 3, 1939, to James B. and Laura (Perriman) Franks. He attended schools in Brownfield and Texas Tech University. He was a design engineer working in aerospace. He was an avid auto-racing fan and had been a drag racer. J. B. was an active hunter, enjoying hunts for deer and turkey.
J.B. was preceded in death by his parents, J.B. Sr. and Laura; a brother, Michael; and a sister, Donna Stuart.
He is survived by his two sons, Brad Franks and wife Roxanne of Alvin and Brian Franks and wife Dawne of Lubbock; two brothers, Randy Franks of Kerrville and Norman Franks of Eden Prairie, Minn.; and three grandchildren, Brad Jr., Jordan, and Haven.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the charities of ones choice.
Ruth G. Webster
Ruth G. Webster, 75, of Denton and formerly of Lubbock, was born on June 8, 1932, in Langdale, Ala. and passed away June 28, 2007. Fondly known as Webster, she was a nurse for 50 years caring for people in the Lubbock area hospitals. She worked for West Texas Hospital, South Park Hospital, and retired from the surgicenter of Lubbock in 2005.
She attended Vanderbilt University and received her nursing degree from Crawford W. Long nursing school in Atlanta, Ga. A friend of animals, she was a long time contributor to the Human Society. She is survived by her two daughters, Ruth Evans of Denton and Nancy Allison of Spokane, Wash. and their husbands, Randy Evans and Jim Allison; and four grandchildren, Jason Evans and wife Rachel, Randi Brooke Evans, Wyndi Allison, and Austin Allison.
Visitation will be today from 1 - 2 p.m. with Funeral Service to follow at 2 p.m. at the Lynch Funeral Home Chapel.
William Charles (Billy) Ogle
William Charles (Billy) Ogle, 49, of Lubbock, went to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on June 1, 2007. Graveside services will be held at the City of Lubbock cemetery at 11 a.m. Wednesday, to be followed by a memorial celebration of William's life at 1 p.m. at Indiana Avenue Baptist Church. Pastor Steve McMeans will be officiating. Visitation will be held this evening from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Agape Funeral Chapel.
William was born in Lubbock on July 24, 1957. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam E. and Vera C. Ogle. He is survived by brothers, Sam Jr. and wife Donna of Lubbock and Richard and wife Cathy of Rifle Colo. and sisters, Ruth Millman of Lubbock and Janie Estes and husband Tom of Castle Rock, Colo. William is also survived by 14 beloved nieces and nephews as well as numerous great-nieces and nephews.
A 1976 Coronado High School graduate, William received his Associate's Degree in child development in 1986 from South Plains College. He went on to graduate from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth in 1992. Bill's life-long dream was to teach and mentor children and to have a personal relationship with our Lord. His commitment to children was demonstrated in his work at Lubbock ISD as a teachers' aide, Highland Baptist Church, and Indiana Baptist Church. Serving as a Sunday School teacher, RA counselor, VBS worker, pre-teen camp counselor, and bus driver, Bill will be truly missed by his family, friends, and the many children whose lives he touched.
Edward Hamilton
Graveside services for Edward Murrell "Buster" Hamilton, 78, of Lubbock will be at 2 p.m. today at the City of Lubbock cemetery with Rev. Richard Craven officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of Franklin-Bartley Funeral Home.
He died Saturday, Nov. 20, 1999, at the University Medical Center.
He was born June 15, 1921, in Graham. He was married
to Jean Steele on Sept. 17, 1945, in Kirksville, Mo. He had been a longtime resident of Lubbock and was a graduate of Lubbock High School. He was a truck driver and was co-owner of P&H; Trucking Co. He had also worked as a dispatcher for Yellow Cab Co. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Steven Murrell Hamilton of Lubbock; four daughters, Roberta Jean Warren of Alexandria, Virg, Nancy Kay Jones, Phyllis Ann Squires and Rebecca Ruth Poplin, all of Lubbock; two brothers, George of Lubbock and James of College Station; a sister, Yvonne Huff of Sparta, Mo.; and 10 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.
Oleta I. Glass
Funeral services for Oleta I. Glass, 86, of Slaton will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2007, in First Baptist Church, with Dr. Cleve Kerby officiating. Interment will be at Slaton's Englewood cemetery and under the direction of Englunds Funeral Service in Slaton.
Oleta passed from this life Monday, Aug. 6, 2007, in Lubbock. She was born Sept. 5, 1920, in Loraine. She graduated from Pyron High School on May 5, 1939, at Roscoe. On May 2, 1939, Oleta married
Joe Glass, who preceded her in death on March 23, 1993. They had farmed in Pyron until 1954 when they moved and continued farming in the Slaton area. They retired from faming in 1982. She was a homemaker and active member of the First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years.
Oleta was also preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.
Her survivors include a sister, Ouida Willmon, of Monahans and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to First Baptist Church, 255 South 9th or Slaton's Meals on Wheels, 230 W Lynn, both Slaton, TX 79364.
Virgil Lee Merriweather, Jr.
Virgil Lee Merriweather, Jr. fell asleep in the Lord on Thursday, Aug. 2, 2007. He was born April 17, 1949, in Lubbock, to Gerlie and Virgil Merriweather Sr.
Virgil proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam war. He had an amazing and positive attitude even in the face of adversity. His favorite saying was "What's going on?"
A Life celebration service will be held Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2007, at 11 a.m., at Stafford Church of Christ, 402 Stafford Rd, Stafford , TX 77497. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. at the Church. Jack Mc Call will officiate. Burial will follow at 2:15 p.m. at the Houston National cemetery in Houston.
He is survived by one daughter, Megan Merriweather; one son, Kileal Craven; mother, Gerlie Waterford; sisters, Linda Kennard, Terryon Boyd, Sherryon Sterling, and Jeannie Fennell; brothers, Clarence Henry Dudley, Jr., Tony Merriweather, Tyrone Merriweather, and Bruce Merriweather; an aunt, Garvis Sterling; uncle, Eugene Lawson, Sr.; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Joseph Thomas Yamin
Joseph Thomas Yamin, 92, of Lubbock, passed away Friday, Aug. 3, 2007. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.
Joseph was born April 2, 1915 in Springfield, Massachusetts to Thomas Yosef and Malka Yamin. He is remembered by his children as a good man. He was a loyal, devoted, and loving father and grandfather.
Joseph is survived by his daughter, Eve Thompson; son, Adam Yamin; son, Tom Yamin and his family; daughter, Susan Yamin; grandson, Tyler Thompson; and eight more grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wives, Anne Yamin and Maria Teresa Yamin.

Bill Baldwin
Bill Baldwin, age 71, of Lubbock, passed away Friday, Aug. 3, 2007 at his residence. Mr. Baldwin was born Sept. 10, 1935 to Joseph William Baldwin and Irene Annie (Hayes) Baldwin in Detroit, Michigan. He moved to Roswell, NM in 1955 from Detroit with the Military where served in the Air Force at Walker Air Force Base. Bill moved to Lubbock in 1979 and was employed by KAMC and KCBD as a television camera operator. Mr. Baldwin retired after 15 years as a Photo Journalist for the Lubbock Independent School District. He had a strong association with the Alcoholics Anonymous where he was a member for 30 years. He also served on the SOS at 40th and A, and on the Recovery Center Board, for many years. He loved his Detroit Tigers and his family dearly. Fishing was a hobby he enjoyed with his son. Bill loved his work with LISD and his co-workers. He will be truly missed by those who knew and loved him.
Mr. Baldwin is survived by his significant other, Ruth Fields; six sons, Mark Baldwin of Lubbock, Jack Fields of Lubbock, ÏDickyÓ Fields of Dallas, Mike Fields of Lubbock, Greg Fields of England, Jimmy Fields of Lubbock; seven daughters, Cari Baldwin of Roswell, NM, Melissa Baldwin of North Roswell, NM, Dink Higginbotham, Donna Rinehart, Rose Donaldson, Margaret Reble and Wendy Shaylene Baldwin all of Lubbock; 23 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one brother, Donald Joseph Baldwin of Michigan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and one sister Sue Balouni.

Conrad Wayne Cabe
Services for Conrad Wayne Cabe, 72, of Meadow will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2007, at Brownfield Church of Christ, with Derek McNamara and Bob Reynolds officiating. Burial will be in Terry County Memorial cemetery under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home.
Conrad passed away Monday, Aug. 6, 2007, in Lubbock. He was born May 11, 1935, to Thomas Carl and Vida Lorene Cabe, in Lynn County in the Draw Community. He and his parents moved to Terry County in 1936. They lived in the Foster Community. In 1938 he moved to the Tokio area for three years and then back to the Brownfield area. Conrad graduated from Wellman High School in 1953. He was one of the players on the first football team at Wellman High. He married
Norma Dean Fore June 5, 1954, in Brownfield. She preceded him in death March 23, 2002. He then married
Janelda Ann Carroll Pendergrass Dec. 30, 2003, in Lubbock. Conrad worked in fuel delivery for Mason Oil Co., and then the United States Post Office for 13 years. He carried a city route and then was the Superintendent of Mail for seven years. In 1980 he was appointed to the Postmaster's position where he served 10 years. He also was in the construction business. Conrad had been a member of Brownfield Church of Christ since 1954. He served as a deacon for over 40 years and taught bible classes from pre-school to adult. He also helped with the building and grounds for many years.
Conrad is survived by his wife, Janelda of Meadow; three daughters, Patti McGuire of Coppell, Sandy Meeks and husband Brian of San Angelo, and Karla Hope and husband Richard of Lubbock; six grandchildren, Jennifer McGuire, Kevin and Audrey Meeks, and Jared, Landon and Ragan Hope; and two brothers, Carl Cabe of Brownfield and Larry Cabe of Burley, Idaho. He is also survived by his extended family, Brent and Teresa Pendergrass and their children, Ty and Ally; Bret and Susan Pendergrass and their children, Whitney and Jay; Paul and Carol Hise and their children, Jordan and Jacey; and Dennis and Jill Williamson and their children, Leslie and Alec.
Bobby G. Rogers
Family and friends of Bobby G. Rogers will gather to share in support and memories of his life at 7 p.m. today at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers, 6025 82nd Street (82nd and Iola Ave), Lubbock. A memorial service celebrating his seventy-three years of life will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2007.
Bob Rogers, born Sept. 4, 1933, in Kirkland, Texas entered into rest on Aug. 5, 2007. He married
Mary D. Wallace on Sept. 20, 1952. He is survived by his wife of 54 years; his children, Joanna Harrell and husband Danny of Littlefield, Mark Rogers and wife Sudie of San Antonio, Andy Rogers and wife Gayle of Colleyville, Richard Rogers of Denver; daughters-in-law, Karyn Rogers of Coppell and Evelyn Rogers of Denver; 11 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Martha M. Rutherford
Martha M. Rutherford, 89, of Lubbock died July 30, 2007 at Southwest Regional Complex. Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Monday, Aug. 6, 2007 at Christ Temple Church OGIC. Burial will follow in Resthaven cemetery, under the direction of Ossie Curry Funeral Home.
Martha M. Rutherford was born Dec. 17, 1918 to Sam and Mary Thomas. She was a member of Christ Temple for over 60 years. She was an usher and Sunday school teacher.
She is survived by two sons, Franklin and Harold Rutherford of Lubbock. She is preceded in death by a daughter and two sons.
Memorials are suggested to The Diabetes Association.
Visitation will be Sunday, Aug. 6, 2007 from 2-6 p.m. at Ossie Curry Funeral Home.
