James Elmer Winter
James Elmer Winter, 88, of LaPorte, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 30, 2007, in a hospital in Baytown, with his wife at his bedside.
He was born March 14, 1919, in Wellington, to Jesse Richard and Minnie Mae Winter. He graduated from Amherst High School in Amherst, served in the United States Air Force as a pilot from 1942 to 1945, and was retired after 39 years of service with the USDA Agriculture Department.
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Jackie Winter; son, James Duane Winter and wife Jonina; sister, Ada Lee Henderson; grandson, Jeremy Duane Winter; step-grandchildren, Michael Winters and wife Susie, Karl Winters and wife Kristen, and James Winters; one nephew and two nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Travis A. Winter.
A private memorial service will be Sunday, Sept. 9, 2007.
H. Lee Childress
H. Lee Childress, 57, of Coweta, Okla. died Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2007. Services will be 5 p.m. today at the Childress Family Ranch.
Vera Mae Thomason
Funeral services for Vera Mae Thomason, 101, who passed away on Aug. 31, 2007, will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2007 at 2 p.m., at Cactus Drive Church of Christ in Levelland with Wayne Horton officiating.
Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Sanders Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends at Sanders Funeral Home on Tuesday from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m.
Vera was born Feb. 12, 1906 in Wellington, Texas. She married
Hershell L. Thomason on Feb. 3, 1929. He preceded her in death in 1986.
She lived in the Pettit, Acuff, and Idalou area before returning to Levelland in 1991. She was an active member of the Church of Christ. Vera was very hospitable; she was a seamstress, and worked on the farm and raised chickens as pets.
Survivors include a son, Elvoy and wife, Peggy Thomason of Seminole; three daughters, Jaunima Fikes and husband, Charles of Conyers, Georgia, Joy Mimms and husband, Don of Levelland, and Anna Thomason of Levelland; six grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.

William Homer Ferrell
William H. "Bill" Ferrell, age 52, of Boerne, passed away on Saturday, May 31, 2003. Born on January 14, 1951, in San Antonio, TX, he was the son of Lloyd Clyde and Arlene Taylor Ferrell. A resident of Boerne for 6 years he had moved from San Antonio. He was a Lieutenant with the Bexar County Sheriff?s Department with 30 years of service as well as a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. preceded in death by his Father and Brother, Robert Allen Ferrell, Lt. Ferrell is survived by his wife, Gerianne Ferrell; Mother, Arlene Ferrell; Mother in law and Father in law, Joyce and John Sellberg; Children, Sean Ferrell of Boerne, Katie Ferrell of Hawaii, Megan Anspach and her husband, Don of Delphos, Ohio, and Doug Rihn and Candi Mosely, of San Antonio; Grandchildren, Kyle Anspach, Conner Anspach, and Brenden Rihn; Sisters and Brothers, Leslye Baumann and her husband, Dennis of Live Oak, TX, Jim Ferrell and his wife, Debbie of Delray Beach, Florida, Tere Ferrell of San Antonio, Lynne Rivas and her husband, Charles of Bryan, TX, and Jan Lopez and her husband, John of Kingwood, TX; Sister in law, Vicki Ferrell of San Antonio, TX; Aunt and Uncle, Betty and Lewis Birdsong; Numerous Nieces and Nephews. Irene Barron
Services for Irene Barron, 73, of Lamesa will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2007 at St. Margaret Mary's Catholic Church with Father Rudy Crasta officiating.
Rosary will be 7 p.m. today at Gonzales Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Lamesa Memorial Park cemetery, under the direction of Gonzales Funeral Home.
She passed away Sunday, Sept. 2, 2007.
She was born on Sept. 5, 1933 in Yorktown, Texas. She married
Lucio Barron, June of 1956 in Hobbs, N.M.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Manuel Lopez and Maria Mendez; her husband, Lucio Barron; sister, Antonia Gonzales, Margarita Chapa, Victoria Cuellar Lopez, Paublina Cruz, and Dominga Rosales; and brothers, Pablo Cuellar, Jose Angel Cuellar, Marcelino Cuellar and Sipriano CP Lopez.
Irene was lifelong member of St. Margaret Mary's Catholic Church and a member of Las Guadalupanas women's church organization.
Survivors include son, Rudy Martinez and wife, MaryAnn of Plainview; daughter, Irene Garza of Lamesa; son, Johnny Martin of Lamesa; daughter, Sylvia Lucero and husband, Jerry of Seminole; daughter, Irma Sierra and husband, Louis of Lubbock; Veronica Barron of Lamesa; granddaughter, Alexis Barron of Lamesa; sister, Connie Esparza of Lamesa; brother, Manuel Lopez of Lamesa; and 16 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.
Wilmar DeWitt Dunn
Funeral Services for Wilmar DeWitt Dunn, 34, of Lubbock, Texas, will be held Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2007 at 1 p.m. at New Hope Baptist Church.
Burial will be at peaceful Gardens Memorial Park in Woodrow, Texas under the direction of Griffin Mortuary.
Wilmar DeWitt Dunn passed away at his home Aug. 30, 2007.
He attended Lubbock public schools and later graduated from the Job Corp in Tennessee. He was employed and lived in San Antonio, Texas for 15 years.
He is preceded in death by his loving grandparents, Mattie and Ollie Dunn and one cousin, Shadricke "Old Man" Taylor.
Wilmar DeWitt Dunn was born July 19, 1973 in Lubbock. He is survived by mother, Sarah Jean Dunn Young; three brothers; a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitations will be from 1 -6 p.m. today at Griffin Mortuary.
Billie Jeane McQueary
Services for Billie Jeane McQueary, 82, of Lubbock will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 8, 2010 in Sanders Memorial Chapel with Dr. Stan Blevins officiating. Graveside services will be at 3:00 p.m., in the West Park cemetery in Hereford, Texas.
Jeane passed away peacefully Saturday, September 4 at Vista Care Hospice at Carillon.
Jeane was born December 12, 1928 in Lakeview, Texas to Billie and Lois Newman. She married
Art McQueary on May 27, 1950 in Clovis, NM. He preceded her in death on December 24, 2001. She was also preceded in death by her parents and her son, Glenn McQueary. Jeane was a member of Highland Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother and sister.
Loved ones include her sons, Bill McQueary of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Mark McQueary and wife, Sandy of Phoenix, Arizona; sister, Carolyn Tisdel and husband, Berwyn; her uncle, Melvin Newman and wife, Edna; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and many cousins.
Memorials are suggested to American Cancer Society or Cal Farley Boy’s Ranch.
The family will be receiving friends prior to and after the services at Sanders Funeral Home.
Viedna Darby
Viedna Darby, 95, of Lubbock passed away Monday, September 20, 2010 after a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 23, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Indiana Avenue Baptist Church with Rev. Gene Hawkins officiating and Rev. Steve McMeans assisting. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Sanders Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 7:00 until 8:30 p.m.
Viedna was born August 7, 1915 to Noah and Eliza Sarah Jane (Poston) Dockary in Rosser, Texas. In 1932, she married
Preston Darby in Lovington, New Mexico. He preceded her in death in 1983. They moved to Ropesville in 1936. She lived there until 2002 when she moved to Lubbock.
Viedna loved working in her yard and with her flowerbeds. She was a great seamstress and loved to quilt. She was active in the Eastern Star, the Quilting Club, and a member of the First Baptist Church of Ropesville
She was also preceded in death by 3 sisters; a brother; and her parents.
She is survived by 3 sons, Doyle and wife Betty of Seminole, H. L. of Shallowater, and Chuck and wife Judy of Lubbock; 7 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren.

Wheeler Billings
Services for Wheeler Clinton Billings, 78, of Lubbock will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 2, 2010 in Sanders Memorial Chapel with Reverend Jim Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Sanders Funeral Home.
Mr. Billings passed away peacefully on August 30, 2010 with his loving wife of sixty years at his side.
Wheeler Clinton Billings was born June 15, 1932 in Cholera, Oklahoma. He married
JoAnn Landers on January 27, 1951. Wheeler was a sales representative for Southwest Saw Service, retiring in 1995. He was a deacon at Monterey Baptist Church and very proud of his Choctaw Indian Heritage.
He is survived by his wife, JoAnn; son, Clinton Ray Billings and wife, Lisa of Dallas; daughter, Cathy Ann Buehring and husband, Dennis of Port Lavaca; grandchildren, Christopher Wall, Ryder Billings and Travis Buehring.
The family suggests memorials to the Building Fund of Monterey Baptist Church.
He was a friend to many and to his family he was their Honey, Daddy and Papa Wheeler.
