Pat Holley Kaiter

Our Mother, Patricia Lou Holley-Kaiter went to be with our Lord Jesus Christ, Thursday morning, September 25, 2008.

She was born Patricia Lou Holley in Lubbock, Texas March 7, 1929 to Lawrence Odell Holley and Ella Pauline Holley. She had two older brothers, Larry Ormand Holley, Travis Don Holley and one younger brother, Charles Hardin Holley (the late Buddy Holly).

She married John Edward Weir and had four children, Eddie Lawrence Weir, Lee Otis Weir, Cindy Carol Weir and Gina Marie Weir. After John Weirʼs passing, she married Manfred Edward Kaiter and they had a daughter, Ingrid Holly Kaiter.

She was a loving daughter, wife and mother. She dedicated her life to the Lord and made it her sole purpose to put the Lord, her husband and her children first, before herself. She lived a life serving all of those around her and never refused help to anyone in need.

Those left to cherish and remember her are her children; Eddy Weir, Cindy Graves, Gina York, and Ingrid Kaiter. She has three grandchildren, Robert Daniel York, Heather York, and Addison Lee Kaiter; and her two brothers; Larry Ormand Holley and Travis Don Holley. Pat was preceded in death by her parents Mr. and Mrs. L.O. Holley; her brother, Charles Hardin Holley (Buddy Holly); son Lee Otis Weir; and husband, Manfred Kaiter.

We are grateful for all the mercy and grace our Lord showered our Mother throughout her life and we feel truly blessed that He chose us to be part of her family.

Services will be at 3:00 p.m., Monday, September 29, 2008 at Sanders Memorial Chapel with Pastor T. L. Garrett officiating. Interment will follow at City of Lubbock cemetery under the direction of Sanders Funeral Home.

Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 3:00 until 4:00 p.m.

Lynda Marie James

Lynda Marie James was born on December 11, 1948 in Levelland. She attended Whiteface Independent School District. She was a teacher’s aide with the Morton Independent School District for twelve years. She was employed with Bealls Department Store. She married Ronald Ray James on August 27, 1990 in Las Vegas, Nevada. She was a member of New Horizon Baptist Church and attended the Adult 3 Sunday school class. She was a devoted Lady Raider fan.

Survivors include her husband, Ronald Ray James of Lubbock; two sons, Randy Gene Cox of Morton and Frank James of Lubbock; three daughters, Vicki Lynn Tijerina, Jessica Perryman both of Lubbock and Stacy James of Littlefield; 10 grandchildren; her mother, Melville Lois Sims of Lubbock; three sisters, June Arthur of Ralls, Barbara Helstrom of Lubbock, Betty Davis of Houston; two brothers, Jesse Sims of Bronte, Texas and Lewis Sims of Topeka, Arizona.

She is preceded in death by her daddy Omar Sims in 1970.

She died on Sunday, February 16, 2003 at the age of 54.

Charlie Garrison

Charlie Garrison, a 51 year resident of Lubbock, passed away March 6, 2007 after a 16 month struggle with pancreatic cancer. He was 79 years old. He is survived by 1 sister, (Alice of Altus, OK) his 4 sons, (Eddy of Lubbock, Rev. David of Springfield, MO, Roger of Philadelphia, PA and Marvin Roanoke, VA) and their wives. He also has 7 grandkids and 5 great grandkids. A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 10, 2007 at Sanders Funeral Home. Charlie served in the armed forces during 1944 and 1945 and finally moved to Lubbock in 1955, where he soon joined the Lubbock Fire Department. He was also a skilled carpenter and worked for a construction company which built hundreds of houses in Lubbock during the 60’s and 70’s. Arrangements are being handled by Sanders Funeral Home, where there will be a time of celebration and remembrance in the state room on Friday evening from 6-7 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the Wayne Avenue Baptist Church-Youth Department or to VistaCare Hospice.

Dorothy Newton

Dorothy Dell Newton died at home at 9:45 p.m. Friday.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park at Woodrow with Pastor Ted Currington of West Texas Church at the Barn officiating. Visitation will be 6-7 p.m. Sunday at Sanders Funeral Home, 1420-Main Street, Downtown Lubbock.

Dorothy was born March 29, 1922, in Roosevelt County, NM, to Joe W. and Laura Hammers Cook. She attended Lubbock High School. Dorothy and George C. Newton met in Lubbock July 4, 1938, and married in Clovis, NM, July 3, 1940. George died May 21, 2002.

Dorothy and George were best friends and enjoyed doing things together, bowling, square dancing, playing canasta and bridge, dominos and chicken feet, and even remodeling houses. He didn’t cook and she didn’t roof houses.

Dorothy is survived by three children, all of Lubbock: Sandra Newton, Gary Newton and Bennie Bristow. Also surviving is their first “daughter, ” Ann Nicholas and her husband Bobby of San Antonio, and their fourth “daughter, ” Gary’s wife Carolyn.

She is survived by four grandchildren, Wade Newton and wife D’Ana, Angela Bristow, Stacey Newton, all of Lubbock; and Benjamin Bristow of Whiteface.

Her eight surviving great-grandchildren are Dakota Newton; Coleman, Abbigail and Lillian Newton; and Emmie Bristow, all of Lubbock; and Deajay Harrelson, Bryan Bristow and Lydia Dell Bristow, all of Whiteface.

When Dorothy wanted to know how to do something, she learned to do it. She was graduated from Isbell Powell Beauty School in 1960 and worked several years as a hairdresser. She apprenticed herself to Fayola Byrd and learned to make custom draperies and curtains for business clients and her many friends and family. She learned to beautifully upholster furniture. Her other handiworks included crocheted “Barbie ball gowns, ” tablecloths and bedspreads; hand-quilted baby quilts; and lots of cross-stitched spreads, tablecloths and napkins.

Dorothy became an ACBL Life Master duplicate bridge player assisted by partners Velda Holcomb, Doris Clemmons and Karen Wilson, all of Lubbock; and the late Ailene Shannon, Irma Baker and Helen Hufstedler; and many others.

The family suggests memorials to Hospice of Lubbock, 1102 Slide Road #3, Lubbock, TX 79416 or Meals on Wheels of Lubbock, 2304-34th. Street, Lubbock, TX 79411.

Nannie M. Mauk

Nannie M. Mauk was born July 2, 1911, in Hereford. She married Edwin Mauk on Nov. 16, 1930, in Clovis. He died June 13, 1989. She was a graduate of Hereford High School and attended college in Amarillo. She had been a resident of Lubbock since 1980, moving from Dimmitt.

She was a member of the Elgin Avenue Baptist Church in Lubbock and a former member of the Rebekah Lodge in Hereford.

Survivors include a daughter, Nancy English of Lubbock; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to Hospice of Lubbock, P.O. Box 16800, Lubbock, TX 79490.

The body will be at Rix Funeral Directors in Hereford from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday.

She died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2002 at the age of 91.

Charles Henry Brooks

Charles H. Brooks, age 82, of Boerne, passed away on Monday, April 28, 2003. He was born April 13, 1921, in Raymond, Illinois, the son of Charles Hayden and Nancy Elizabeth Harris Brooks. A resident of Boerne for 20 years, he was a member of the VFW. A Veteran of the Army Air Corps, he served during WWII as S/Sgt and was awarded two bronze stars. He was a member of the Parkway Christian Church in Pekin, Illinois. For many years he was in the business of candy manufacturing. preceded in death by his Parents, Four Sisters and Two Brothers, Mr. Brooks is survived
by his wife, Ileen Brooks; Children, Rita Rice and her husband, Russell of Colorado, Charles Ronald Brooks and his wife Glenda of Florida, Priscilla Bland and her husband, Leroy of Illinois, and Sally Weaver and her husband, Kent of Boerne; 14 Grandchildren; 21 Great Grandchildren; 3 Great Great Grandchildren; Sister, Lucille Meyer of Illinois. The Funeral Service was held on Friday, May 2 at 12:30 P.M. at Vaughan's Funeral Home with Mike Jackson, officiating. Burial with full military honors followed at Ft. Sam Houston National cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests Memorials to the American Cancer Society c/o Adela Meckel, Memorial Chairman, 106 Cibolo Dr, Boerne, TX 78006.

Sharon Jane Stewart

We write this memorial with much love and respect for our dear sweet mom and friend, Sharon Jane Stewart.

She was born November 8, 1944 in Ohio. Her family moved to Litchfield Park, AZ during her early childhood. Mom has fond memories of her school days. She graduated Agua Fria High School in 1962 and was a beautiful homecoming queen.

She married and had three children. As a single mother, she moved with her children to Lubbock in 1972. She was an extraordinary and devoted mother, supporting her family by selling Avon. She was an Avon representative for 32 years.

After raising her children, she was blessed with four wonderful grandchildren, who were the joys of her life.

She was preceded in death by her beloved brother, Timmy Mitten, and father, Homer Mitten.

Sharie is survived by her mother, Jane L. Mitten and sister, Bonnie Miller of Arizona; her children, Shawn Stewart and wife, J’Lin, Dr. Holly Stewart, Heather McKee and husband, Mark, all of Lubbock. She is also survived by her darling grandchildren Reagan and Riley Stewart, and Haleigh and Megan McKee, who will miss their “Maga” dearly. We will all miss Mom immensely, but are at peace knowing she will be free of pain and with God in Heaven.

Services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 2, 2008 at Southcrest Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry K. Hatfield officiating. Interment will be in Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Sanders Funeral Home.

A visitation will be Sunday evening from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations in her name to the American Diabetes Association.

Justin Lynn Bolton

Justin Lynn Bolton went to heaven on Tuesday, November 13, 2007 at home in the arms of his loving parents, surrounded by family. He was 6 years old. Justin was born in Lubbock on November 16, 2000 to Monte and Tammy Bolton.

Although Justin struggled for 5 years with a devastating disease, his spirit and determination never gave up. He was a blessing to his family and friends and all of those that came in contact with him. His smile was infectious and everywhere he went people were drawn to him. Anyone who knew Justin, knew that his favorite toys were hot wheels, race tracks, trains and tractors. He loved playing with legos and play-doh and if you were lucky enough he would make you a play-doh sandwich with play-doh cheetos and a play-doh drink. Justin’s passion and determination for life showed through his passion for his toys and cars. He loved driving and competing with his RC cars. He persevered in anything he started. His friends were dear to his heart and he loved communicating with his friends who always knew exactly what Justin was saying even without words being spoken. Justin always made people laugh and always won everyone’s heart and smile in return.

Justin was a 1st grade student who was homebound through Cooper North Elementary where the school went above and beyond to provide anything to Justin that he needed. Justin also attended Melonie Park Church for Tuesday School where he also found enormous love and support. Justin spent much time at Covenant Children’s Hospital and Covenant Children’s ICU where he was given all the love and support anyone could ask for. The family would like to thank all of the doctors and nurses who gave considerable time and love to healing Justin. Justin’s family would like to give a great big hug and thank you and a big smile from Justin to all of those people who gave him their love and support.

Justin was a perfect son, a perfect brother, a perfect grandson, and a perfect friend. Justin lived every day to its fullest and loved every minute he had with his family and friends.

Justin is survived by his parents, Monte and Tammy Bolton and his sisters, Marissa and Megan of Lubbock; grandparents Charles and Maxine Bolton of Lubbock; grandfather Don Phillips of California and grandmother Milly Westbrook of Missouri; great-grandmothers Fannie Price of Arkansas and Ina Dumont of California; uncle’s and aunt’s Ragan and Cherie Holt of Idalou, Jerry Phillips of California, Devin and Amber Westbrook of Missouri; cousins Emily, Charlie and Heath Holt of Idalou, Autumn Phillips of California, Brant and Carson Bolton of Lubbock, Bo and Bailey Childress of Lubbock. He also had numerous friends who will miss their playmate dearly.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to Make-A-Wish Foundation and DTRF.org.

Services will be held Saturday, November 17, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at Melonie Park Church at 66th and Indiana.
