Debra Sue (Cates) Smith
Debra Sue (Cates) Smith, 52, of Lubbock passed from this life Sunday, August 8, 2010. She was born June 22, 1958 in Lubbock, Texas to Woodrow and Estelle Cates. After graduation from Lubbock Christian High School she was a care taker for several individuals. She married
Jeff Smith on August 10, 2002.
Debra was a devoted wife, aunt, and sister. She was a longtime member of the Rock of Ages congregation where she was involved in many activities. Also, she was involved with the Al-Anon Group. Debra’s sweet spirit touched each who knew her because of her ability to see the good in everyone.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Woodrow and Estelle Cates. She is survived by her husband, Jeff Smith; step daughter, Allison Green and husband Robby; sister, Karen Kleman and husband LaVern; brother, Rodney Cates and wife Randa; two nephews, Kelly Cooper and Trevor Cates and wife Amber; and a niece, Kameron Cates; also, one step granddaughter, Katelyn.
Memorial services are planned for 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at Rock of Ages Baptist Church, 806-48th Street, with Rev. Howard McCann and Rev. Mitch Wilson officiating.
The family will receive friends at Sanders Funeral Home on Tuesday evening from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m.
The family has suggested memorials to the Covenant Foundation – Children’s Hospital, 3623-22nd Place, Lubbock, Texas 79410.
Michael C. "Mike" Buckel
Michael C. "Mike" Buckel He was born November 2, 1949 in Ohio. He had been a Lubbock resident since June, coming from Georgia. He was a longtime resident of California and had worked in construction. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp, 9th Marines Delta Company, also known as the "Walking Dead", serving for 26 months in the DMZ during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Joan; 3 step-children, Kim, Darinda and Robert; 3 step-grandchildren; his mother, Patricia Buckel; 2 sisters, Sharon Henderson and Cynde Greathouse; 2 nieces and 1 nephew.
He died Tuesday at the age of 53.
Doug E. Aaron
Doug E. Aaron, 48, of Lubbock passed away on Tuesday, August 17, 2010. He was born August 27, 1961 in Lubbock to Earl and Linda Aaron. He was married
to Cloanne Marie Niell on January 15, 1982 for 26 years. He was self-employed and the owner of Doug Aaron Heating & Air.
Doug is survived by two sons, Daman and Dexter Aaron, both of Lubbock; his mother, Linda Aaron of Lubbock; four sisters, Shelley Dodson of Lake Brownwood, Kim Taylor of Canyon, Elizabeth Ward of Weatherford, and Janice Fox of Hobbs, New Mexico; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Earl Cal Aaron.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday morning, August 21, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. in the Sanders Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the City of Lubbock cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 6-8:00 p.m.
Dolores Wilkerson
Services for Delores Ann Wilkerson, 63, will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at Sanders Memorial Chapel with Reverend Bruce Cotton officiating. Interment will follow at City of Lubbock cemetery under the direction of Sanders Funeral Home.
Delores was born June 22, 1947 in Lubbock to the late Roe and Oral Lee Hogg. She married
Harvey Wilkerson on June 24, 1974 in Lubbock. She was a homemaker and will be dearly missed.
Delores is survived by her husband of 36 years, Harvey of Lubbock; sons, Shannon Harris and wife, Melissa of Lubbock, and Kevin Harris and wife, Raquel of Lubbock; seven grandchildren, Josh, Sierra, Austin, Lacey, Blake, Harli, and Hunter; and three sisters, Doris Wheeler, Jean Ford, and Emmie Russell. A brother, Garland Hogg preceded her in death.
Jack Stringer
Jack Stringer was born Sept. 24, 1929. He was a longtime resident of Lubbock, was a retired sales representative with Kraft Inc. and served in the United States Air Force for eight years during the Korean War.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn; son, Stacy Stringer of Minneapolis, Minn.; a daughter, Tami Stringer of Lubbock; two grandsons, Michael Rojas of San Diego, Calif. and Steven Sosa of Lubbock; a great-grandson, Kaiden Rojas of San Diego, Calif.; and three sisters, Ruthie Jones, Inez Davis and Eloise McKamie.
Mr. Stringer died Sunday, Aug. 10, 2003 at the age of 73.
Max Ray Rogers
Max Ray Rogers, 70, of Lubbock passed away Saturday, August 14, 2010. He was born April 18, 1940 in Lubbock to Ray W. and Maxine Rogers. He served in the United States Navy and married
Jo Nell Wharton January 2, 1969 in Plainview. She preceded him in death on August 26, 2004. Max owned and operated two businesses, worked as a commercial pilot and an EMT technician for University Medical Center, and was a member of the Civil Air Patrol.
His survivors include a daughter, Monika (Sam) Rogers; two grandsons, Matt and Jonny Rogers; sister, Judy Son; aunt, Connie Dean; and numerous cousins.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at 2:00 p.m., at Resthaven Memorial Park with Rev. Dave Menifee officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Sanders Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to your favorite charity.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday 6-8:00 p.m.
James Rabak
James W. Rabak 92, of Lubbock died Friday, August 27, 2010. A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Christ the King Cathedral with Msgr. Ben Kasteel officiating. Rosary will be held on Monday evening at 7:00 p.m. at Sanders Funeral Home. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park.
James Rabak was born August 29, 1917 in Fairmount, North Dakota to his parents John and Jeanne Rabak. He attended public schools in Fairmount and attended Business College in Fargo, North Dakota. On September 2, 1942, he married
his wonderful wife Rita L. McCabe of Larimore, North Dakota.
He was an accountant at Bardwell-Robinson of Fargo until moving to Amarillo in 1950, at which time he was employed by Maywood Inc. until retiring in 1984. He moved to Lubbock in 1986 and was a member of Christ the King Cathedral.
His wife of 61 years, Rita, preceded him in death on June 23, 2003. He is survived by two daughters, Rosemary Christensen of Lubbock and Andrea Wear of Las Vegas, Nevada; and two nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to VistaCare Hospice or Christ the King Cathedral School.
Frances Moore
Services for Eunice Frances Moore, 90, of Lubbock will be at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 14, 2010 in Sanders Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow in the City of Lubbock cemetery.
Mrs. Moore died September 11, 2010.
She was born September 30, 1919 in Banty, Oklahoma, to M.L. and Minnie Gardner. She married
Webb Moore on November 16, 1944 in Lubbock. They operated farms in Lubbock and Hockley counties. They were also partners in business, owning and operating Webb Moore Drug and the In-N-Out Grocery, retiring in 1983. She was a tribal member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, a member of several Lubbock quilting guilds, and the oldest member of Women’s Studies Community Connection.
Mrs. Moore was predeceased by her husband; by sisters Altha Allard and Moina Dean Spears; and by brothers Gene Gardner and Luther Gardner. Survivors include a sister, Edith Elsik of Albuquerque, New Mexico; a brother, Charles Gardner of Hanford, California; a daughter, Carolyn Frances Moore and son-in-law Ralph H. Brock of Lubbock; a son, Dr. Lewis Daniel Moore of Lubbock; three grandchildren, Mary Elston Pressler of Dallas; Daniel Moore of Marina del Rey, California; and Nicholas Moore of Cedar Park; and numerous nieces and nephews including Loren Wayne Langston, Dan Moore, Vicki Steen and Terri Guajardo, all of Lubbock; and her special caregiver, Linda Villela.
The family will receive friends from 7:00–8:00 p.m., Monday at Sanders Funeral Home.

Elizabeth Ennen
Services for Elizabeth Marlene Ennen, 15, of Lubbock will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, January 28, 2011 in Sanders Memorial Chapel. Entombment will follow at Peaceful Gardens Mausoleum in Woodrow, TX. Arrangements are under the care of Sanders Funeral Home. Beth disappeared on January 5, 2011 and was found on January 24, 2011.
Elizabeth was born on May 17, 1995 at the University Medical Center in Lubbock, TX. She attended Lubbock Schools where she was involved with dance at O.L. Slaton Middle School and was a current sophomore at Monterey High School. Beth had a beautiful voice and was a member of the Choir at Monterey. Elizabeth was a member of Faith Tabernacle Church.
Survivors include her mother, Virginia Ennen; her brothers, Kevin and Nicholas Ennen; father, Kenneth Ennen; half-siblings, Michael and Mariah Ennen; multiple aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and loved ones.
The family will receive friends from 8:00-9:00 p.m., Thursday, January 27, 2011 in Sanders Memorial Chapel.
Her family wishes to express their appreciation for the community support and help received in bringing Elizabeth Home.
