Dickie Ann Wadel
Graveside services for Dickie Ann Wadel will be at 10 a.m., Friday, September 17, 2010 at City of Lubbock cemetery.
Dickie was born August 4, 1946 in Lubbock, TX to Austin and Mary Blakemore. She passed away September 14, 2010 at the age of 64.
She is survived by three daughters, Tonya Reno, Teresa Buck and husband, Cory, and Tammy Patterson; grandson, Hunter Reno; and granddaughter, Logan Buck. She is preceded in death by her husband, Frederick Wadel.
Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Lubbock.
Annette Owen
Annette Owen, 96, of Lubbock passed away on Tuesday, July 13, 2010. She was born October 9, 1913 in Rata, Texas to Aaron and Inez Norcross. She married
Ira William Owen, Sr. November 7, 1930 in San Angelo. He preceded her in death on September 4, 1978. They moved to Lubbock in 1935. She worked for Texas Tech University in the Textile Department classifying cotton for many years before retiring. She was a member of Southcrest Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Ira W. Owen, Jr. of San Angelo and James D. Owen of Celina; two brothers, John Norcross and David Norcross; a sister, Billie Carlen; six grandchildren, Toni Vickers, Sue Anne Haney, Danny Owen, Tammy Knapp, Tracy Owen, and David Owen; twelve great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, July 15, 2010 at 2:30 p.m. at Resthaven Memorial Park with Rev. Jerry Wilson officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Sanders Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the Southcrest Baptist Church Building Fund, 3801 S. Loop 289, Lubbock, Texas 79423.
Dorothy Noey
Dorothy Sue Noey, 68, of Lubbock died Tuesday, July 27, 2010.
Services will be held on Saturday, July 31, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at Sanders Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial will follow at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park under the direction of Sanders Funeral Home.

K.W. lived a happy active life until he passed away July, 29, 2010. K.W. was born November 29, 1930 in Devers, TX. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War from 1950 to 1954. He married
Barbara Ann Jordan of Batson, TX., August 14, 1955. K.W. and Barbara were foster parents to over 200 children during his lifetime. He retired from McCrory Stores after 25 years. He was an active employee of Wal-Mart at S. Loop 289 for the last 14 years. He is preceded in death by his sons Jerry Dwayne and Robert Burrell. He is also preceded by his daughter-in-law, Tracy Burrell of Valparaiso, IN.
K.W. will be deeply missed by his wife, Barbara, and children; Knowles Wayne, Jr. and Trecia Burrell of Lubbock, Ginger and Wyndell Goodin of Ardmore, OK., John Burrell of Valparaiso, IN., and Tobe Burrell of Beaumont, TX. Grandchildren include; Carmen and John Cooke, Amanda Burrell, Knowles III and Roxanna Burrell, Tori and Mike Curtis, Devin, Caleb, Sydney and Wynde. Great grandchildren include; Jordan, Kayleigh, Elana, Parker, Tyler, London and Alexander. Multiple nieces and nephews will also miss him. Thank you to all of his friends at Wal-Mart for their friendship.
Blaise Anthony Pratka
Blaise Anthony Pratka, Infant Son of Darrell and Maureen Pratka passed away on June 10, 2003. In addition to his parents, Blaise is survived by Sister, Katrina Marie Pratka; Brothers, Zachary Andrew Pratka and Matthew Joseph Pratka; Paternal Grandparents, Allen and Dorothy Pratka; Maternal Grandparents, Robert and Margaret Kinnally; Numerous Aunt, Uncles, and Cousins. Recitation of the Rosary was held at 7:00 P.M. Thursday, June 12 at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church and the Funeral Mass was on Friday, June 13 at 1:00 P.M., also at the Church, Father Tony Cummins, Celebrant. The Interment followed the Mass at Mission Park North.
Brenda Bishop
Brenda Gay Bishop passed from this life into the arms of her heavenly Father Friday July 9th 2010. Brenda was born July 8, 1946 in San Angelo Texas. She moved from San Angelo in 7th grade to Odessa, Texas, where she attended Bowie Jr. High and then graduated from OHS in 1964. She attended Odessa College until Brenda’s love for music led her to Los Angeles CA with the Dan Blocker singers, where they got to be on the Ed Sullivan show. Determined to finish college, Brenda moved to Lubbock, Texas and graduated from Texas Tech University with her Bachelors degree in education. She taught in elementary schools around the Lubbock area for numerous years. She substituted at various schools in Lubbock after her health prevented her from teaching fulltime.
Brenda had a sense of humor that was contagious to all who knew her and was able to laugh at herself as well as make other people laugh with her. She will be greatly missed by all those who know and love her.
She is survived by her husband, Phillip Bishop of Lubbock, Texas; son, Jason Belcher of New York, NY; stepdaughter, Jana Woods of County Line Lubbock; stepson, Kevin Bishop of Louisiana; parents, Forrest & Rose McCleery of Odessa, Texas; brother, Steve McCleery and wife Lynda of Hobbs NM; sister, Tina Nelms and husband Steve of Odessa and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be Thursday July 15, in Lubbock, at Sunset Church of Christ at 10:00 a.m. with Bruce Thornton and Steve McCleery officiating. Burial will be at the City of Lubbock cemetery. Arrangements are by Sanders Funeral Home of Lubbock.
Memorials can be made to Sunset Mission Fund or the Children’s Home of Lubbock.
The family would like to thank all the people at Sunset Church of Christ for all their love and care the last few years that Brenda was sick, due to her many surgeries. You truly are a “light” in this world.
Hayden Matthew Stephens
Hayden Matthew Stephens, 18-month-old son of Brian and Becky Stephens of Lubbock, went to be with Jesus early in the morning, Thursday, February 19, 2009.
Hayden was born August 14, 2007 and was a little warrior for all of his days. His family knows that their “Little Bubba” is comfortable and at peace at last in the arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
He is survived by his adoring parents, his loving older sister, Hayleigh Lynn, and his triplet siblings and kindred souls, Hudson Jeremiah and Hannah Kay; grandparents Lynn and Linda Brisendine of Brownfield and Russ and Sharion Stephens of Lubbock; uncles and aunts Alan and Barbie Taylor of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Brian and Susan Brisendine of Brownfield, Ken and April Stephens of Greenville, North Carolina and Daniel and Kayla Stephens of Midland.
Hayden also leaves behind his great-grandparents Herb and Elizabeth Vogel and Naomi Brisendine, all of Hereford and loving cousins, Logan and Landon Taylor; Thomas, Blake and Maddie Brisendine; Matthew and Madeline Stephens; and Jonah, Jude and Kampbell Stephens.
His family is eternally grateful for the extraordinary care and devotion Hayden received for many months from the doctors, nurses and staff of Covenant Medical Center.
Visitation will be held at Sanders Funeral Home from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, February 20.. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Trinity Church at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 21.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Covenant Medical Center NICU and ICU in honor of Hayden.
Lewis Albert "Al" Jackson
Lewis Albert "Al" Jackson, Jr., age 79, a resident of Boerne since 1972, went to be with the Lord and his loving wife on Thursday, May 1, 2003. He was born in Shelbyville, Illinois, on September 7, 1923, the son of Lewis A. Jackson, Sr. and Ruby Roessler Jackson. Mr. Jackson graduated from the Peacock Military Academy in 1940 and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from UT Austin in 1949. A former member of the Woodlawn Optimist Club, Mr. Jackson was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church, active in BYAA sports, member of the Greyhound Athletic Booster Club, and a devoted Grandpa. A registered pharmacist for 54 years, he had owned and operated his own pharmacy and finished his career with M & S Pharmacy in San Antonio where he worked until the day he died. preceded in death by his Parents, Wife, Betty Jackson in 2001, Brother, Charles Jackson and Daughter in law, Kimberly Jackson, Mr. Jackson is survived by children, Norman Dowd and his wife, Phyllis of San Antonio, Deborah Cooley and her husband, Gentry of Boerne, Steve Dowd and his wife, Debbie of Bulverde, Janet Jackson of Brooklyn, NY, Bette Skeels and her husband, Howard of Boerne, and Lewis A. "Chip" Jackson, III of San Antonio; Nine Grandchildren. Visitation was held on Sunday, May 4 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. The Funeral Service was on Monday, May 5 at St. John Lutheran Church in Boerne at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Henry Schulte, Officiating. Burial followed in the Boerne cemetery. Pallbearers were Clint Cooley, Gentry Cooley, Frank Arnold, Todd Taylor, Howard Skeels, and Sam Champion. In lieu of flowers the family suggests Memorials to the St. John Lutheran Building Fund or the Kendall County EMS.
Donald Freeman, Jr.
Donald Ross Freeman, Jr., died September 24, 2010 at the age of 49 and went to be with his Heavenly Father. He was born in Abilene, TX on April 6, 1961. Donald graduated from Texas Tech University with a Degree in Engineering. He owned and operated Freeman Health Care in California for many years and returned to Lubbock in 2007.
He is survived by his brother, Scot Freeman; sister-in-law, Angie; nephew, Aaron and niece, Jessica. He was preceded by his parents, Don and Wanda Freeman.
Services will be held this Wednesday, September 29, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in Sanders Memorial Chapel, in Lubbock. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
Donations can be made to Meals on Wheels of Lubbock.
The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. Tuesday at Sanders Funeral Home.
Billie L. Bridges
Visitation services for Billie L. Bridges, 88, of Lubbock will be held 3-4 p.m., Sunday, September 26, 2010 at Sanders Funeral Home. Graveside services will be Monday, September 27, 2010 at the Dickens cemetery. Mrs. Bridges passed away on September 24, 2010.
Billie was born August 1, 1922 in Dickens, TX to Jim and Zola Noland. She was preceded in death by her husband Edward F. Bridges and her son, Donald Collier.
Loved ones include her daughter, Patsy MacLeod and granddaughters, Sarah Flores and Kathy Prater.
