Vera Ogle
Vera Ogle was born Sept. 20, 1920, in Bootham, Ala., and had been a resident of Lubbock since 1944. She married
Sam E. Ogle, June 14, 1941, in Maryville, Tenn. He died Jan. 6, 1973. She was a member of Highland Baptist Church where she worked in the nursery with the three-year-olds for 25 years. She also worked in the school cafeterias for a short time.
She was a homemaker who was devoted to her Lord and family. Survivors include three sons, Sam Jr. and William of Lubbock, and Richard of Rifle, Colo.; two daughters, Ruth Millman of Lubbock and Janie Estes of Denver, Colo.; 14 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren.
She died Thursday, July 3, 2003, at the age of 82.
Lloyd Berry
Lloyd Dwain Berry, 79, of Lubbock died Wednesday, September 8, 2010. Gravside will be held on Friday, September 10, 2010 at the City of Lubbock cemetery.
Jeremy Coats
Jeremiah “Jeremy” Lee Coats 19, of Lubbock, went home to be with Jesus, January 5, 2009. Jeremy was born, June 28, 1989 to Harold & Naomi Coats. Jeremy’s greatest passion in life was to serve God. He had just recently become an usher at Temple Baptist where he attended church. He would proudly profess his love to God by singing loud and beautiful each Sunday. Jeremy, always had a twinkle in those beautiful blue eyes of his, and you could always see a little mischief in his smile. He attended Roosevelt High School and graduated in May of 2008.
Preceding Jeremy in death are his paternal grandparents, George and Ann Coats.
Jeremy is survived by his parents, his sister, Ashley of Lubbock, 2 nephews, Jermiah and Isaiah, maternal grandparents Russell Lucht & Lois Gillis of Janesville Wisconsin, maternal great grandmother Marie Gordon of San Antonio, Texas, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
One of the things that Jeremy loved to do with his dad was go to the races, watch wrestling and he loved his movies. Jeremy and his mom shared a special bond in going to the movies. They would have date nights and see the movie of Jeremy’s choice. Another great love of Jeremy’s was baseball. He played on the Challenger Baseball League every year until he turned 18 years old.
Funeral services will be at Temple Baptist Church, 5413 38th Street, Lubbock Texas on Friday, January 9, 2009 at 3:00 PM. The family will receive friends at Sanders Funeral Home from 6:00 to 7:30 on Thursday, January 8th.
Jeremy you were that spark in everyone’s heart. Your love shined through in your smile, your hugs and your endless kisses. Even though our hearts are breaking we are so happy that you are in Heaven with Nanny and Pappa and we look forward to the day that we can be reunited with you again.

Randall Alan Willis
Randy Willis of Lubbock died Monday, September 20, 2010. Randy was born June 6, 1951 to Earl and Catherine Willis in Sanger, TX. He graduated from Plainview High School in 1969, where he met his wife, Jackie Daniels, and earned a Bachelor’s in Music from Abilene Christian University in 1973. He married
Jackie May 26, 1973. He was a band director for 36 years,
sharing his love of music with students at schools all over West Texas, including Plains, Lubbock-Cooper, Olton, Littlefield, Spearman, and others. He was employed by Whiteface ISD
as the assistant director, and loved the administration there very much. He was a teacher and mentor who was greatly loved and will be greatly missed.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Catherine Willis. Survivors include his wife;
daughter and son-in-law, Brandi & David Schreiber of Lubbock; father, Earl Willis of Keller; sister, Sandra Isler of Keller; and two nephews and their families.
At the time of death, he donated his organs to LifeGift, helping an estimated 50 people.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, September 25, 2010 at South Plains Church of Christ with Minister Dan McCasland and Principal James German officiating. Burial will follow at the City of Lubbock cemetery. Viewing will be available Friday, September 24 at Sanders Funeral Home.
Timoteo Z. Trevino
Timoteo Z. Trevino was born on August 22, 1942 in Agua Dulce, Texas to Felix and Maria De Jesusa Zapata Trevino. Timoteo and his family moved to Morton, Texas in 1964. Mr. Trevino married
Margaret Rodriquez on January 5, 1964 in Bishop, Texas. Timoteo had been a resident of Lubbock since 1965 and worked for the City of Lubbock Sanitation Department for twenty-six years before retiring in 1991. He was a member of Templo Bethel Church in Lubbock for thirty-eight years.
Survivors include his wife; children, Melissa T. Picon of Roswell, New Mexico, Melinda Trevino of Lubbock, and Timoteo Trevino, Jr. of Las Vegas, Nevada; grandchildren, Marissa Picon, Marinda Picon, Adrianne Salazar, and Joey Salazar; a brother, Herman Trevino of Lubbock; two sisters, Louisa Mancillas of Lake Jackson, Texas and Angelita Ramirez of Ralls, Texas.
Mr. Trevino died peacefully on Sunday morning, June 29, 2003 at his home.
Inez Harkins
Inez Harkins, age 76, a 12 year resident of the Boerne area, passed away on Tuesday, November 19, 2002. Born December 15, 1926, in Carrollton, TX the daughter of John A. and Eura Fyke Toombs, she was formerly of Irving and San Antonio. She was active in the Central Church of Irving and the First United Methodist Church of Boerne. Her lifelong efforts advanced public education and opportunities for women's progress in business and the professions. She supported wildlife and conservation groups, including Cibolo Wilderness and the Texas Nature Conservancy and was a nurturer to all living things. Mrs. Harkins is survived by her husband of 58 years, Jack R. Harkins; Son, Jack R. Harkins, Jr. and his wife, Kay, of San Diego, CA; Daughters, Gail Harkins and Toni Harkins; Grandchildren, Cadence Harkins and Bryan Harkins; Sisters, Johnetta Crane and Renita Carpenter. Visitation was held on Sunday, November 24, from 3:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. The Funeral Service will be on Tuesday, Nov. 26, at 10:00 A.M. at the First United Methodist Church, with Pastor Barbara Galloway-Edgar, Officiating. The Graveside Service will be at 2:00 P.M. at Mission North cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that Memorials be made to Friends of the Cibolo Wilderness, P. O. Box 9, Boerne, TX 78006. Funeral Arrangements entrusted to Vaughan's Funeral Home of Boerne.
Willard Pennington
Willard E. Pennington, 93, of Lubbock passed away Friday, September 3, 2010. He was born March 30, 1917 in Hydro, Oklahoma to Edward and Amanda Pennington. He grew up in Hydro, moved to California in the 1930’s and 40’s, then moved to Hobbs, New Mexico where he owned Pennington Body Shop before moving to Lubbock in 1972. In Lubbock, Willard worked for Lubbock Body Works for many years before retiring. He married
Merle Shipp on May 17, 1941. She preceded him in death on July 31, 2002. Willard volunteered at the Second Helping Outreach program of the First United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Carol Wimberly and Pat Wallis; and two grandchildren, Tracy Snow and Kathleen Wallis.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at the City of Lubbock cemetery with Rev. Keith Wiseman officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Sanders Funeral Home.
Peggy Joyce Burson
Peggy Joyce Burson, 75, of Lubbock passed away on Friday, September 24, 2010 in Lubbock. She was born April 20, 1935 in Haskell, Texas to James and Mildred Kennemer. She married
Travis Tidwell Burson on May 24, 1953 in Haskell. He preceded her in death on August 11, 2007.
Peggy enjoyed her family, gardening, Dr. Pepper and the porch swing with Travis.
Survivors include a daughter, Joni Speegle and husband Steve of Katy, Texas; a son, Bruce Burson and wife Shelley of Wolfforth; a sister, Pat Kennemer; and a grandson, Travis Speegle.
The family will receive friends at Sanders Funeral Home in Lubbock on Sunday from 4-6:00 p.m. Graveside services will be held on Monday, September 27, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the Willow cemetery in Haskell, Texas under the direction of Sanders Funeral Home.

James Liff Sanders, II
Services for James Liff Sanders, II, 57, of Austin will be 10 a.m. today at Sanders Memorial Chapel, officiating by Josh Stephens. Burial will follow at the City of Lubbock cemetery under the direction of Sanders Funeral Home.
He passed away on Tuesday, July 20, 2010 in Austin. He was born July 2, 1953 in Lubbock and lived in Lubbock for about 50 years. He graduated from Abilene Christian High School and attended Abilene Christian College briefly before going into the work force as a lifelong salesman.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Belle Sanders.
Survivors include his daughter, Morgan Sanders of Round Rock, Texas; father, J.L. "Liff" Sanders of Lubbock, Texas; sister, Shirley Gilmer and husband Jim of Amarillo, Texas; four nephews, Jake Gilmer, Josh Stephens, Jon Stephens and Matthew Stephens; and one niece, Julianne Stephens.
Melissa Canale
Funeral Mass for Melissa Kay Canale, 41, of Lubbock will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 6, 2010 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church with Monsignor James O’Connor officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-7p.m., Sunday at Sanders Funeral Home with a Rosary service following at 7.p.m at Sanders Memorial Chapel.
She went to be with her Heavenly Father on December 2, 2010.
Melissa was born March 24, 1969 in Lubbock, TX to James and Sherry Grusendorf. She graduated from Lubbock High School in 1987. She held bachelors and masters degrees from both Texas Tech and Wayland Baptist. She married
David Patrick Canale on February 26, 1994, and together they raised two beautiful children.
She began her professional career as a nutritionist with South Plains Community Action. She entered the field of education, and taught at Christ the King, Frenship ISD, and Lubbock ISD schools. She served as an intern Assistant Principal at Lubbock High and as an Assistant Principal at Hutchison and Atkins Middle Schools. She was an active member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church where she taught Sunday School.
She was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, and friend whose main concern was her family. She had a loving and caring heart for all in need and her unselfish gift of her body to LifeGift so that others may have a better chance at life has made her family so proud.
Loved ones include her husband David; her wonderful children Ford and Ella; her parents James and Sherry; brother, Greg Grusendorf and wife, Melanie; grandmother, Jamie Lynch; in-laws, Randy and Cindy Canale; Mike and Angie Canale; Shawn and Laurie Canale; loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and countless friends.
