Daniel Thomas
Daniel Thomas (Chicken), of Lubbock, Texas, died Sept. 3, 2007 in Dallas, Texas. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Venessa Thomas; his mother, Opal T. Thomas; his father, Freddie G. Thomas; six sisters, Joyce Thomas Alvarado, Charla Phillips, Stefhanie Thomas, Sonia Thomas Crowley, Taza Lukey, and Ronika Price; two daughters, Beatrice Williams and Tareka Thomas; five sons, Daniel G. Thomas, Jr., Lamonta Ragsdale, Jacob Harris, Aris Jackson, and Adrian Jackson; his grandmother, Pearl Shuler; his father-in-law, Melvin Jackson; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
Service will be at First Progressive Baptist Church, Saturday, Sept. 8, 2007 at 3 p.m.; burial will be at Peaceful Garden cemetery.
Rubena Welch Poole
Rubena Welch Poole of Victoria passed away September 5, 2007 at the age of 89. She was preceded in death by her husband, the Reverend Milton E. Poole, and by her son, Milton Robinson Poole.
A devoted minister's wife, Mrs. Poole resided in Lubbock from 1953 to 1963, during which time her husband, pastor of First Church of the Nazarene, spearheaded the church's move from its original location at 14th & Avenue Q to 4510 Avenue Q in 1955. During her tenure, Mrs. Poole made lifelong friends and came to love and adopt many aspects of the regional culture.
Mrs. Poole was a counselor, a workshop leader, and an engaging speaker. While residing in Salem, Oregon, she founded OASIS, an interdenominational women's conference in the Pacific Northwest. She was a consummate mother, a skilled seamstress, a gifted pianist, and a lover of beauty. She was most known for her compassionate spirit and her listening ear.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Doctors Anne and William Wagner of Victoria, Dorothy and Steven Chandler of Fresno, California, and Sallie and Martin Holdrich of Bethesda, Maryland, and four grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held 1:30 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 6, 2007, at the Victoria First Church of the Nazarene, 1105 Edinburgh Street.
Memorials in her memory may be made to First Church of the Nazarene of Victoria.

Nathan Wilson
Celebration of life services for Nathan Wilson, 23, of Lubbock will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, 2007, at First United Methodist Church, with Dr. Jay Horton officiating. Nathan Tate Wilson was born May 31, 1984, in Colorado Springs, Colo., to Joseph N. and Selma (Pierce) Wilson. Nathan graduated from Lubbock High School. He then attended Texas Tech University graduating in 2005 with a Bachelors Degree in Bio Chemistry with a minor in business. He was enrolled as a first year medical student at Texas Tech. Nathan was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Robert Pierce and Jack Wilson.
Those left to cherish Nathan's memory are his parents, Drs. Joseph N. and Selma Wilson of Lubbock; life partner, Blythe Horan; sister, Christina Wilson and fiancÈ Brian Maines of Lubbock; brother, Joshua Wilson of Lubbock; grandmothers, Frances Pierce of Las Cruces, N.M. and Martha Wilson of Destin, Fla.

Clara Belle McMillan
Clara Belle McMillan of Lubbock died Sept. 6, 2007 at Carillon VistaCare. A resident of Lubbock for two long periods during her life, Clara was born May 7, 1920, in Coleman, Texas, to Ed and Dorothy Spangler. She graduated from Kermit High School in 1938. Clara married
Coy Wesley McMillan on Dec. 24, 1939. Coy preceded her in death in 1984, as did her brothers, Emory Spangler and Joe Spangler.
Clara is survived by three children, Charlotte Ann Blaiss and her husband, Gary of Lubbock, Lynnette Wilson of Lubbock, and Kenny W. McMillan and his wife, Vicki of Plano. Her seven beloved grandchildren are Randi Saxon Peet, Tommy Saxon, Blane McMillan, Shane McMillan, Allison Nelson, Byron Wilson, and Zane Wilson. Other survivors include one brother, Jack Spangler, and eight great grandchildren (soon to be 11), two nieces, and one nephew.
Clara and Coy owned Lubbock News Company before moving to San Angelo to become owners and managers of the Angelus Book Store, located downtown in Hemphill Wells Department Store. Clara was a member of Altrusa Club of San Angelo and a volunteer for Family Guidance and Outreach Center of Lubbock. Clara was an avid gardener and bridge player.
A private family memorial service will be held. Clara donated her body to the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center.
The family expresses special appreciation to Clara's loving caregivers Shawnee Cota, Terry Jiminez, Lanetta Kahn, and longtime special friends Robert Wilson and Tommy Kirk.

Juan "Gorilla" M. Ybarra
Funeral services for Juan "Gorilla" M. Ybarra, 62, of Lubbock will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, 2007 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with Father Cornelio Ramirez officiating.
Rosary will be on Friday, Sept. 7, 2007 at 7 p.m. at Guajardo Funeral Chapels.
Burial will be at City of Lubbock cemetery under the direction of Guajardo Funeral Chapels. He died on Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2007 at Covenant Medical Center. He was born to Rosendo and Pauline Ybarra on June 29, 1945 in Edinburg, Texas. He married
Lupe Nava on March 1978 in Lubbock. Mr. Ybarra came to Lubbock as a migrant worker and was later employed by Clark Equipment until the company closed. He later retired after 20 years of employment from City of Lubbock Street Dept. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Frank Ybarra. Mr. Ybarra was greatly loved by many nieces and nephews and will be remembered always for his love of fishing and telling tall tales
Survivors include his wife, Lupe Ybarra; two sons, Rosendo Ybarra of Odessa and Juan Ybarra Jr. of Lubbock; five daughters, Dahlia Sanchez of Big Spring, Sylvia Saldana, Rachel Ybarra, Veronica Ybarra and Nicole Rodriguez, all of Lubbock; seven sisters, Lala Almanza, Olga Ybarra, Janie Garza, Toni Zapata and Mercedes Ortega, all of Lubbock, Noemi Castro and Helen Madrid both of San Antonio; three brothers, Jose Angel Ybarra of Big Spring, Jorge Juarez of Lubbock and Robert Williams of San Antonio. He had 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Ray Charles Tillmon
Ray Charles Tillmon, Sr., 55, of Lubbock, passed away Thursday, Aug. 30, 2007 at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City, Okla. Ray leaves to cherish him memory his father, Pink Tillmon, Jr., his wife, Diane Wright; one son, Ray Tillmon, Jr.; two daughters, Ritha Smith and Crysta Tillmon; two brothers, David Tillmon and James Tillmon; three sisters, Ellen Alexander, Annie L. Tillmon and Cheryl Tillmon; seven grandchildren; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Celebration services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, 2007 at Greater St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church, Burial will follow at Peaceful Garden cemetery.
The family will receive visitors from 1 to 5 p.m. today at Griffin Mortuary.
J. Clyde Milligan
J. Clyde Milligan, age 86, passed away at University Hospital after a short illness. Mr. Milligan is survived by is wife of 66 years, Ruth Milligan of Fair Oaks Ranch, TX; Sons, Bob Milligan of Angleton, TX, Dennis Milligan of Lake Jackson, TX, Terry Milligan of Phoenix, AZ and Sisters, Maxine Tisdale and Billie Ballard of Amarillo, TX. Other survivors include 6 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. J. C was resident of Fair Oaks Ranch, TX for 14 years and was an active member of the Northwest Christian Fellowship church in San Antonio, TX. One of his joys while living in Fair Oaks was helping build the Rainbow Senior Citizen Center in Boerne, TX. J.C. retired from Phillips Petroleum Company in Borger, TX, before moving to Fair Oaks Ranch in 1988. He worked for Phillips for 40 years and ended his career with Phillips as the Planning Department Supervisor. J.C. was an avid photographer and artist. J.C. received his training in photography during World War Two while in the army as a War Photographer. Visitation was held at Vaughan's Funeral Home in Boerne, TX from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 2, 2003. The Funeral Service was held 11 a.m. at Vaughan's Funeral Home on Thursday, April 3, 2003 with Pastor Larry Sargent, officiating. Burial followed in the Boerne cemetery. Pallbearers were Michael Aguirre, Jim Franco, Milton Clare, Paul Tuttle, Larry Good and David Kokernot.
Erma "Tiger" Williams
Church service for Erma "Tiger" Williams, 72, of Morton is scheduled for 2 p.m. today, at First Baptist Church, with Rev. Paul Lively officiating. Burial will be in Morton Memorial cemetery.
Erma died Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2007, in Cochran Memorial Hospital.
She was born Feb. 8, 1935, to H.G. "Doc" and Frankie (Mills) Long, in Carey. She married
George Gilbert "Ike" in Lingo, N.M. June 10, 1956. She moved to the Morton Community in 1939 from Carey. She was a graduate of Morton High School. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church of Morton.
She is survived by her husband, Ike; sons, Mike Williams and wife Loretta of Sundown and Marty Williams of Morton; sister, Linda Huckabee Morton; granddaughter, Rhiannon Williams; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Sharon Barrientez
Sharon Barrientez of Tahoka passed away on Sept. 6, 2007 at her residence at the age of 61. She was born Jan. 2, 1946 in Bay County, Michigan to Felix Perez and Celia (Garcia) Perez. Sharon moved to Tahoka from Ohio in 1962. She graduated from Post High School in 1965. Sharon married
John Barrientez, Oct. 1, 1965 in Lynn County. She was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church. Sharon was the owner of The Cake Palace in Tahoka.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband John; three daughters, Debbie and husband Victor Salinas, Amy Deleon, and Ann Marie Barrientez; one son, Ricky and wife Pat Barrientez, all of Tahoka; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three brothers, Pete Alcorte, Fred Perez and Stanley Perez all of Lubbock; six sisters, Janie Olmos of Lubbock; Alice Minjarez of Lubbock, Sylvia Rivera of Lubbock, Rose Mary Lozano of Vernon, Texas, Mary Silva of Pontiac Michigan and Sally Rodriguez of Lubbock.
Mrs. Barrientez was preceded in death by her parents Felix and Celia Perez.
Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7, 2007 at White Memorial Chapel in Tahoka. There will also be a Rosary service at 7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 9, 2007 at St Jude Catholic Church in Tahoka.
Mass will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, Sept. 10, 2007 at the St. Jude Catholic Church in Tahoka with Deacon Benny Brito officiating.
Arrangements are under the personal care of White Funeral Home in Tahoka.
Doris Evelyn Page
Church service for Doris Evelyn Page, 84, of Muleshoe, is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, 2007, at the First Baptist Church in Muleshoe, with Dr. Stacy Conner and Sonny Lee officiating. Burial will be in Muleshoe Memorial Park cemetery.
Doris died Sept. 6, 2007, in Lubbock. She was born July 8, 1923, in Roxton, Texas. She married
Eldon Page in Farwell on Oct. 29, 1993. Doris was a longtime resident of the Muleshoe community. She worked at Southwestern Bell Telephone Company as an operator for many years, retiring in 1978. She married
Conrad Middlebrooks in 1941 and he preceded her in death in 1981. Doris loved to sew, paint, do crafts, and spend time with her family. Her greatest joy was her great-grandchildren. She was a member of Lazbuddie Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by a brother, John Reid.
She is survived by her husband, Eldon Page of Idalou; two daughters, Sharon Grant and husband C.E. of Muleshoe and Jencie Lee and husband Sonny of Idalou; seven grandchildren, Kevin Grant and wife Renee of Ft. Sumner, N.M., Laurey Riney and husband Ronny of Olton, Clay Grant of Muleshoe, Lynn Lee and wife Kristina of Idalou, Danna Raven and husband Brad of San Antonio, Amy Whittle and husband Kirk of Waco, and Tony Lee and wife Erin of Lubbock; 18 great-grandchildren; five sisters, Betty Jo Vernon of Ardmore, Okla., Anita Littlefield of Lubbock, Peggy Gibson of Lubbock, Sandra Haws of Weatherford, and Becky Melton of Lubbock; and a host of nieces and nephews.
