Mildred Cogdell-Clark
Mildred Cogdell-Clark, 91, a lifetime Paducah resident passed away Oct. 27, 2007, at a Lubbock hospice facility. Graveside services are scheduled for 3 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30th, at the Paducah Garden of Memories cemetery, with Barbara McKnight officiating and under the direction of Seigler Funeral Home. Mildred was born Oct. 14, 1916, in Clyde, to R.I. and Lillie (Parks) Stallings. After she graduated Paducah High School she continued her education earning a B.A Degree at Hardin Simmons University. Mildred married
William Allen Cogdell in 1936. She was his wife of 26 years and after his passing in 1962 she became a school teacher in Paducah ISD. In 1978 she married
E.R. Clark who passed away in 1984. She retired from teaching in 1980. Mildred was active in the Paducah Community. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, the Sorosis Club, the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Texas State Teachers Association, and served on the Cottle County Library Board.
Mildred is survived by Bob and Penny Cogdell of El Paso, Roger Cogdell of
Houston, Nancy Bennett of Houston, Maxine and Orville Fox of Lubbock, LaVerne Rose and Mary Clark, five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Elizabeth K. Drury
Elizabeth K. Drury, 74, of Lubbock, died Sunday at a local hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, 2007, in Temple Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the City of Lubbock cemetery. Her family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Rix Funeral Directors, 1901 Broadway.
Elizabeth was born June 24, 1933, in Pageton, W.V., to Frank and Ethel K. Yankovich. She married
James C. Drury Nov. 15, 1948, in Welch, W.V. He preceded her in death on July 21. 1995. Elizabeth was a member of The Temple Baptist Church.
She is survived by her sons, Frank of Lubbock, Jimmy of Ropesville, Jerry of Aztec, N.M., and Darrell of Baton Rouge, La.; two daughters, Ethelleen Norman and Donna Nelson of Lubbock; one brother, Dewey Tilley of North Carolina; 17 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Lloyd A. Funk
Funeral services for Lloyd A. Funk, 86, of Levelland will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2007, at First Baptist Church, in Levelland. Burial will be in City of Levelland cemetery under direction of George Price Funeral Home. He died at 2:58 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 28, 2007, at Granbury Care Center.
He was born on Jan. 14, 1921, in Eastland, and resided in Levelland since 1946. He married
Pauline Morgan on Dec. 24, 1939, in Carlton, and she preceded him in death on June 29, 2007. He worked for Roberts Well Service as a supervisor for many years and was self employed also. He was a member of First Baptist Church, in Levelland.
Survivors include three sons, J. L. Funk of Ft. Worth, Frank Funk of Farmington, N.M., and Bobby Funk of El Paso; a daughter, Kay Gilmer of Levelland; 10 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive visitors at the funeral home today, Oct. 30, 2007, from 7 until 8 p.m.
Sharon M. Kosechequetah
Celebration of life services for Sharon M. Kosechequetah, 48, of Lawton, Okla. will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2007, at Resthaven's Abbey Chapel, with Dr. Ken Horn officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2007, at Resthaven Funeral Home. Sharon Marie Kosechequetah was born Nov. 18, 1958, in Baltimore, Md., to Thomas Anthony and Carolyn June (Bonkin) Stinebaugh. She married
Anthony Kosechequetah Feb. 10, 1987.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Anthony of Lawton, Okla.; daughter, Kathy Williams of Lubbock; sons, Christopher Rivera, Jacob Rivera, Anthony Rivera and Johnny Duncan; grandchildren, Carolyn Williams, Phillip Williams, Malorie Rivera, Ethan Rivera, Kaylee Rivera, and Kirsten Adme; brothers, Tommy Stinebaugh of California and Timothy Stinebaugh of Tulia; and a sister, Sarah Stinebaugh of Amarillo.
Alton Reeder Griffin
Alton Reeder Griffin, 79, passed away at his home in Lubbock Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2006.
He was born at Crow-ell, Texas Dec. 28, 1926. He graduated from Crowell High School, and then served in the U.S. Army Occupational Forces in Germany until his discharge on Jan. 7, 1947. He graduated from Texas Tech University in 1951. He taught school at Anton, Texas, and later graduated from the University of Texas Law School in 1956. Upon receiving his law license, he worked as an Assistant County Attorney in Lubbock, later becoming County Attorney in 1960 until his appointment as District Attorney on Jan. 1, 1962. He left that office in January 1969 and entered the private practice of law. He served another brief term as County Attorney from February 1972 until January 1973, when he became the first Criminal District Attorney for Lubbock County. He served in that capacity through 1978. He remained in the private practice of law in Lubbock until his death. He served as President of Texas District and County Attorneys Association 1962-63. He was a member of The State Bar of Texas, serving as Chairman of The Criminal Law Section 1977-78. He was a member of Lubbock County Bar Association, serving for many years as Chairman of the Resolution Committee. He also was an active member of the Lubbock Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, serving as President in 1983-84. He was a member of the Texas Bar Foundation. He served on the Board of Directors of The Lubbock Symphony and was active in various community organizations. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a Shriner.
Alton was active in Lions International. He served as President of Lubbock Lions Club, District Governor of Lions District 2-T-2, and was a director of the Texas Lions Camp at Kerrville, Texas for many years. He was recently nominated for induction into The Texas Lions Hall of Fame. He was a member of Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity for over 50 years, serving the Texas Tech Chapter as a graduate advisor continuously since 1985. The community service award of the local chapter is named in his honor, and Phi Gamma Delta International honored him with the Coulter Cup as the outstanding graduate in the fraternity in 2002.
He married
his wife, JoAnn, on Dec. 30, 1965. He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Elen Deering of Lubbock, and Carol Ann Thigpen of Horseshoe Bay; and by a son, Russell Savage of Spring. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Shawna Deering, Lyle Worthington, Melissa Savage, Mea-gan Savage, and Russell Griffin Savage. He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Shay Deering. He is also survived by one brother, Riley Griffin of Odessa and by numerous loving nieces and nephews.
Services will be 11 a.m. today, Jan. 27, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church. Private graveside services will follow.

Patricia Anne Nichols Anderson
Patricia Anne Nichols Anderson passed away in Bryan on Oct. 16, 2007. Services were held at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Bryan on Oct. 20. Services were under the direction of Hillier Funeral Home in Bryan.
She was the daughter of Roy and Virginia Nichols of Lubbock. She graduated from Lubbock High School in 1958. She attended Texas Tech University and graduated from Texas A&M; University.
She was survived by her daughter, Samantha Orihuela of Bryan; son, Trey Anderson of Austin; and brothers, Tom Nichols of Fort Worth and Jack Nichols of Dallas; and sister, B.J. Condron of Colorado Springs; and their families.
Jerry M. Baggs
Major Jerry M. Baggs, 59, of The Lubbock County Sheriff's Department, passed from this life on Oct. 25th.
Born in Conroe in 1948, Major Baggs served the State of Texas for 40 plus years as a Texas Lawman.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 15 years, Lynn Baggs of Lubbock; children, Dr. James M.(Jennie) Baggs of Bryan, Shelley Mackey of San Angelo, and Brenda Baggs (Fernando Lopez) of Corpus Christi; his mother, Hazel Baggs of Mathis; sisters, Linda (Richard) Dunlap of Sinton, Debbie (Joe) Stewart, and Donna (Joe) Crow, all of Mathis; and six grandchildren, Tyler, Jarrett, Hailey, Jackson, Max, and Jessica. He is preceded in death by his father, Martin Baggs.
Jerry began his career in 1969 at the Sinton Police Department. He later worked for the Nueces County Sheriff's Department in Corpus Christi. Jerry then worked for the Texas Department of Corrections as a Captain in Agriculture Operations for 11 years. He then ventured from East Texas to West Texas, working for the Midland County Sheriff's Department. In 1985, Jerry helped organize the Texas Jail Association, served as the first President and on the Board of Directors for many years. The TJA now boasts over 1000 members and is one of the most recognized groups in Texas Law Enforcement. After serving as Warden of a private prison in Spur, Jerry took the reins of the Lubbock County Detention Center. Major Baggs's career was his greatest source of joy; his people were his greatest source of pride. Texas has lost a great lawman, but the marks he made on his profession will influence officers for years to come.
Major Baggs will lie in state at Agape Funeral Chapel from 2-4 p.m. today, Oct. 28, 2007. Services will be held at First Baptist Church in Lubbock at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 29, 2007.

Florence Brunner
Services for Florence Brunner, 89, of Lubbock, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, in Resthaven's Abbey Chapel, with the Rev. John Ballard officiating. Entombment will follow in Resthaven Mausoleum under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.
Florence passed away on Thursday, Oct. 25th in Lubbock.
Florence was born on Aug. 18, 1918, in Elyria, Ohio, to William and Amelia Stoecklin Newell. She married
"Bill" Brunner on Oct. 24, 1942, in Lorain, Ohio. He preceded her in death in 1989.
Florence was a retired bookkeeper and member of the Downtown Bible Class. She was a volunteer for many years at both Methodist and UMC. She had been a resident of Lubbock since 1953.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mildred Childers and Violet Swope; and two brothers, Dwayne and Byron Newell.
Survivors include a brother, Ross Newell; two daughters, Dee and husband Joe Bryan of Austin and Becky and husband Frank Wray of Amarillo; one son, Jeff Brunner and wife Judy of Lubbock; six grandchildren, Chris and Tim Bryan, Jason and Jordan Brunner, and Kevin and Arick Wray; and two great-grandchildren, Austin and Hannah Bryan.
The family suggests memorials to Cal Farley's Boys Ranch.
Cody Johnson
Cody Johnson was born Jan. 24, 1980, in Lubbock. He died Oct. 25, 2007, at about 2 a.m., due to a one car roll-over in Bryan. He was 27 years old and lived in Bryan, College Station. Cody graduated from Littlefield High School in 1998 with Honors. He then went to Blinn Junior College and from there transferred to Texas A&M.; He worked for Jack Hilliard Distributing in Bryan.
He is survived by his father, Gaylon Johnson of Littlefield; mother, Fern Johnson of Littlefield; two sisters, Cynthia Duke and husband Brent Duke of Lubbock and Theresa Sansom of Lubbock; one niece, Haylee Duke of the home; two nephews, Austin Sansom and Tyce Duke of the home; uncle, Jackie Friday of Littlefield; and the love of his life, his dog, OZ.
Services will be 3 p.m. Monday, Oct. 29, 2007, at Follow Thru Fellowship, in Littlefield. Interment will follow at Littlefield Memorial Park. Services are under the direction of Hammons Funeral Home of Littlefield.
John Archie Martin
John Archie Martin, 87, of Lubbock passed away Oct. 24, 2007. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, at Indiana Ave. Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Steve McMeans. Burial will follow at Englewood cemetery in Slaton directed by Sanders Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 2 until 4 p.m.
He loved his Lord. He was saved at the age of 9, and surrendered to preach in 1944. He started and pastored numerous Southern Baptist churches including five in Lubbock. He constructed 39 church building projects across the South Plains during his ministry. He was passionate about preaching and building, but especially about soul winning. He witnessed to virtually everyone he came in contact with. In his later years he became known as "Old Man Baptist".
He was born June 17, 1920, to Ira and Selena (Dixon) Martin, in Frankston.
He married
Lois Ann Whitwell in 1940 in Spur. She preceded him in death in 2000. Also preceding him in death were his parents; an infant brother, Stanley Joe Martin; sisters, Thelma Aycock and Nannie Belle Dunlap; and a grandson, Scott Martin.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Kenneth and Judy Martin of Bellville and Carolyn and Kenneth Carver of Lubbock; his grandchildren, Becky and Miles Grayson, Sheri and Pat Mulloy, John and Mechelle Barber, and Mark and Mary Moseley; eight great-grandchildren, Michael and Vincent Semann, Sean, Max and Olivia Mulloy, Eric Barber, and Matthew and Michael Moseley; three sisters, Kyle Helms of Hubbard, Ira Lena Simmons of Odessa, and Geneva Martin of Lubbock; and three brothers, Winston Martin, Herschel Martin, and Gary Martin, all of Lubbock.
Memorials may be made to Indiana Ave. Baptist Church Building Fund, "his last building project."
