Hedy Frances "Fran" Duval
Hedy Frances Duval, 79, beloved mother, grandmother, family member, and friend, went to be with our Lord and Savior on Nov. 29, 2007. Born on Feb. 22, 1928, in Collin Co., to the late George Rural and Hettie Palarlee (Howard) Littrell, she was the youngest of nine children. At age 14, she moved to Lubbock. After graduating from Lubbock High School, she met Talmage Lee Duval, a native of Lubbock, and they married
two months later.
In addition to her career as a mother and homemaker, she worked for many years at Morrison Supply Co. and then retired after 10 years as a secretary at Texas Tech.
Known by her grandson as "Franma", her friends as "Fran", and her nieces and nephews as "Aunt Sancy", Fran enjoyed ballroom dancing, gospel music, reading, and playing bridge. She was a Silver Life Master of the American Contract Bridge League (ACBL), and was a long-time member and officer of the Llano Estacado Bridge Unit. She was also a member of Forest Heights United Methodist Church in Lubbock.
Fran was preceded in death by her husband, Talmage; her son, Dennis Lee Duval; and all but one of her siblings. Fran is survived by her daughter, Darla Kay (Duval) Czerwinski and her husband Paul of Portland, TX.; by her grandson, James Bradley Allcorn and wife Melissa of Wylie; her brother, George Littrell of Weatherford; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Sanders Memorial Chapel, 1420 Main St. Burial will follow at the Lubbock cemetery. The family will receive visitors Monday evening from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at SandersFuneral Home.

Coreen King Odom
Services for Coreen King Odom Coreen King Odom, 85, formerly of Lubbock, will be at 10 a.m., Monday, Dec. 3, 2007 in Sanders Memorial Chapel, with Reverend Blaine Miller officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
Mrs. Odom passed away on Nov. 29, 2007, in Presbyterian Hospital in Denton. Coreen was born Nov. 30, 1922, in Knox County, to Stella and O. P. Blair. She graduated from Lubbock High School in 1940 and attended Draughn's Business College. She married
Valton Hugh King who preceded her in death in 1957. She married
Jesse Bryan Odom and moved to Hereford in 1969. She was active in Lubbock and Hereford Home Demonstration Clubs for several years. She served as the Director of the Women's Building at the South Plains Fair for many years. She also served as a Girl Scout Leader for several years in Lubbock. She was a member of the Vandelia Village Church of Christ in Lubbock and the Church of Christ in Hereford.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, H.B. Blair; sisters, Mary Paulk, Stella Stafford, and Patsy Byrd and daughter, Jackie Mathews.
She is survived by her sister, Imogene Anderson of Clovis, N.M.; daughters, Judy Prouty of Denton, Viola Wilcox of Lubbock, Vicki Nesbitt of Raleigh, N.C., and Jerry Odom of El Paso. She is also survived by grandsons, Val King of Kyle and Kody Nesbitt of Lubbock; by granddaughters, Kerry Scott of Sanford, Fla., Paula Creasy of Dallas, and Jennifer Odom of Ga.; by four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials are suggested to the Children's Home of Lubbock.
The family will receive friends from 6 - 7 p.m., Sunday at Sanders Funeral Home.
Librada (Garza) Banda
Librada (Garza) Banda, of O'Donnell, departed this life on Dec. 1, 2007 in Lubbock at the age of 79. She was born in Kennedy, to Santiago and Juana (Medina) Garza. Librada moved to O'Donnell in 1970 from Whiteface. She married
Patricio Mendoza Banda in Hidalgo County on April 22, 1944. He preceded her in death, May 6, 2002. Mrs. Banda was a homemaker and a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church in O'Donnell.
Those left to cherish her memory are four daughters, Minnie Honesto of Draw, Linda
B. Benavidez of Tahoka, ElvaMaldonado of Lubbock, Lisa Banda formerly of Lubbock; one son, Robert Banda of Lubbock; twelve grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; one sister, Elva Gonzales of Lovington, N.M.
Mrs. Banda was preceded in death by four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Rosary service will be held Monday, Dec. 3, 2007, at 7 p.m., at White Memorial Chapel in Tahoka.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2007, at St. Pius X Catholic Church in O'Donnell, with Father Eduardo Teo celebrant. Interment will follow in the O'Donnell cemetery.
Mrs. Banda will lie in state at the St. Pius X Catholic Church in OíDonnell, from 2 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2007 until service time.
Arrangements are under the personal care of White Funeral Home in Tahoka.
Samuel Tena Aguirre
Samuel Tena Aguirre, 76, of Lubbock, died at daybreak Saturday after suffering a heart attack.
Mr. Aguirre was born on Jan. 3, 1931, in Namiquipa, Chihuahua, Mexico. He came to Texas in the 1950ís as part of the Bracero Program and settled with his bride, Guillermina Aguirre, near Smyer.
He worked in agriculture and construction in Texas, California, and Colorado before retiring in Lubbock..
He is survived by Mrs. Aguirre and their children: Richard Aguirre of Irving; Gustavo and Gloria Aguirre of Dallas; Idalia and Mike Northcott of Lubbock; Mary Helen Aguirre and Guy E. Jennings III of Rio Rancho, N.M.; and Sam Jr. and Sara Aguirre of Midland.
He also is survived by 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial service is planned at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel at Sanders Funeral Home, 1420 Main St.
William Nelson Robinson
William Nelson Robinson, 80, of Lubbock passed away Monday, Dec. 10, 2007. Funeral services will take place at Heritage Funeral Home in Brady, Saturday, Dec. 15, 2007, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Jerry M. Becknal officiating. Burial will follow at Gooch cemetery in Mason.
Nelson was born July 3, 1927, in Georgetown, to John A. and Minnie Robinson. He graduated from Brady High School and attended San Angelo State. Nelson served in the United States Army Air Corps from 1945 to 1947. He also served in the United States Air Force from 1950 to 1954, serving as a military police special investigator in Korea.
He married
Glenda L. Word on Nov. 21, 1958, in Mason. Nelson worked as the road foreman for Boswell and Crafton for ten years and moved to Lubbock in 1966. He then worked for the City of Lubbock as the supervisor of unpaved streets until retirement. He was a 32nd Degree Mason with Yellowhouse Lodge #841 of Lubbock.
Nelson was preceded in death by his wife, Glenda on April 21, 2007; his parents; and one sister, Earlene Jordan.
He is survived by his five children, Cindy McNeely, Barry Robinson, Gina Baugh, and husband Tim, all of Lubbock, John Robinson and wife Janna of Cedar Park, and Rita Hinton and husband Ronnie of Van Cleave, Miss.; one sister, Emma Lee Taliaferro and husband Gratton of Marble Falls; 11 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
Betty Jane Hopkins
Betty Jane Hopkins, 78, of McKinney formerly of Lubbock passed away Thursday, Nov. 15, 2007, in McKinney. She was born Sept. 24, 1929 in Plano to the late Johnson and Pearl (Grubbs) Gant. She married
Joe Hopkins Sept. 6, 1946 in Dallas; he preceded her in death March 7, 1988. They moved to Lubbock in 1984 for business purposes. She was a member of Westmont Christian Church. Betty moved to McKinney in 2005 to be near her family.
Those left to cherish her memory are her three children: Susan Carty and husband Cliff, Cindy Wilborn and husband Bo both of McKinney and son Kelly Hopkins of Italy, Texas; three grandchildren Chad Carty, Jennifer Hopkins, and Cristina Humphries and also three great-grandchildren.
Celebration of life services will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 17, 2007 at Resthaven's Abbey Chapel with Rev. Clint Stephenson officiating, interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.

Rick J. Wren
Rick J. Wren, 53, of Merkel, died Thursday, Nov. 29, 2007, at an Abilene medical center.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Faith, 5701 Hwy 277 South. Burial will be in Elliott-Hamil Garden of Memories, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at a visitation 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Rick was born Jan. 18, 1954, to Ruby {Pruitt} and J. W. Wren, in Rochelle, Ill. He served his country in the United States Air Force. Rick moved from Lubbock to Merkel ten years ago. He was employed by the State of Texas as a correctional officer at the Middleton Correctional Facility. Rick loved to sing, dance, and entertain family & friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, J. W. and Ruby Wren.
Survivors include his son, David Wren of Lubbock; his daughter, Amy Wren of Abilene; two brothers, Lee Wren of Snellville, Ga. and Jerry Wren of Rockford, Ill.; a sister, Pam Wren of Rockford, Ill.; and five grandchildren, Tyler Wren, Megan Wren, Kalev Wren, Taryn Stamper, and Brycen Stamper.
A special thanks to Rick's co-workers and friends who supported him and his family, and went above and beyond the call of duty during his final hours.

Mary Frances Towell
Mary Frances Towell, May 17, 1924 - Nov. 24, 2007.
Retired from Sears, Foley's and Wal-Mart. Mary enjoyed her retirement years volunteering at the Senior Citizens Center on 19th, and was actively involved in the Nursing Home Music Ministry at Trinity. Surviving relatives include son, Ladd Stokes; grandsons Michael, Austin, and Hunter; and dear friend, Walter Lefler, all from Lubbock. A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, Dec. 14th, 1 p.m. at the Senior Citizens Center located at 2001 19th, in Lubbock. Everyone Welcome!
