Ann Davidson
Ann Davidson, 87, of Lubbock passed away Nov. 29, 2007. She was born Nov. 10, 1920, in Bassfield, Miss., to Barnie and Virgie Broome. She married
Jack Paramore Davidson. He preceded her in death on Aug. 21, 1987.
Ann spent 34 years in county government. She was elected to her first full term as county clerk in 1986, and she ran unopposed in every election for the next 14 years. Ann retired as county clerk, a position she held since 1984 in July of 1999.
She is survived by two sons, Jack Wallace Davidson of Albuquerque, N.M. and Joe Don Davidson of Lubbock; two brothers, Fred Broome of Hattiesburg, Miss. and Cecil Broome of Biloxi, Miss.; two sisters, Lois Morris of Lumberton, Miss. and Val Bily of Covington, La.; four grandchildren, Justyn Davidson, Jayson Davidson, Danielle Davidson and Savannah Davidson; and a great-grandson, Julian Peace Davidson.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2007, at 1 p.m., at the City of Lubbock cemetery, with Rev. Jeff McCreight officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of Sanders Funeral Home.
Virginia Delia Clayton
Virginia Delia Clayton, 73, of Lubbock, passed away Nov. 28, 2007. Graveside services took place on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2007, at 4 p.m. in Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home. Hospice Chaplains Jonanna Ross and Randy Hamilton officiated.
Virginia was born Jan. 18, 1934, in San Marcos. She spent the majority of her life as a devoted homemaker and was a committed, active member of the V.F.W. Post 2466 Ladies' Auxillary. She was married
to Sumner M. Clayton, III on Apr. 12, 1985.
Survivors include her husband, Sumner M. Clayton, III of Lubbock; a son, Alburn Holder of Lubbock; four grandchildren, Aaron and Caleb Adams, both of Ft. Worth and Shiloh and Hannah Holder, both of Lubbock; and several great-grandchildren.
Rick Bius
Services for Rick Bius, 51, of Lubbock, will be at 2 p.m., Monday, Dec. 3, 2007, in Sanders Memorial Chapel, with Reverend John Ballard officiating.
Interment will follow at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park in Woodrow.
He passed away on Nov. 29, 2007.
Richard Irvin Bius was born Oct. 12, 1956 in Liberty. He served in the U.S. Army before graduating from Texas Tech University. He married
Carol Hudson, Dec. 19, 1981, in Lubbock. Rick was employed with Fields and Company for many years and later with Morrison Supply Company. He was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Richard Bius of Midland and Brandon Bius of Lubbock; a daughter, Kayla Bius of Lubbock; his parents, Tom and Susana Bius of Huntsville; two brothers, Ben Bius and Tommy Bius.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Martha.
Michael Andrew Ruiz
Funeral services for Michael Andrew Ruiz, 26, of Lubbock, will be on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2007 at 11 a.m. at Grace Assembly of God, with Pastor Manny Castro officiating. Burial will be at Peaceful Gardens cemetery under the direction of Guajardo Funeral Chapels.
He died on Nov. 27, 2007 at University Medical Center.
He was born on Nov. 13, 1981 in Lubbock, Texas.
Survivors include: One son, Michael Alexander Ruiz; one daughter, Elliana Madison Ruiz; Parents, Sam and Rosie Ruiz; one brother, Sammy (Erin) Ruiz; one nephew, Sammy, III; Grandfather, Marco A. Ruiz; Grandpa & Grandma Gary and Marie Jones; and other family members and many friends.
Jonny Welch
Church service for Jonny Welch, age 61, of Muleshoe, is scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 23, 2007 at First United Methodist Church, with Rev. Monty Leavell officiating.
Burial will be in Littlefield Memorial Park cemetery, Littlefield, Texas.
Jonny died Sunday, Nov. 18, 2007 at her residence. She was born July 28, 1946 in Shamrock to Floyd and Juanita (Roden) Blake. Her parents, a brother, Chris, and a sister Faythe Ann, preceded her in death. She married
Gary Welch in Plainview on Dec. 23, 1971.
Jonny was a 1964 graduate of Lamesa High School. She and her family moved to Muleshoe in 1985 from the Threeway Community. She was a homemaker and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Muleshoe. She had been a substitute school teacher in the Threeway, Sudan and Muleshoe schools.
Survivors include husband, Gary; son, Cory Welch of Austin; daughter, Ransley Welch of The Colony, Texas; sisters, Merry Ayala and husband, Ernest of Santa Fe, New Mexico and Lynn Johnston and husband, Tim of Plano; brothers, Terry Blake and his wife, Patty of Arlington and Curtis Blake of Dillon, Montana; sister-in-law, Karen Gobble of Hobbs, New Mexico; and brother-in-law, Bill Welch of Sudan.

Jerry E. Jephcott
Graveside services for Jerry E. Jephcott, 78 of Ropesville will be 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 23, 2007 at the Ropesville cemetery. Mr. Jephcott will be available for viewing on Thursday, Nov. 22, 2007 from 4-6 p.m. at Franklin-Bartley Funeral Home.
Jerry passed away on Monday, Nov. 19, 2007.
Jerry was born on Jan. 31, 1929 to the late Allen and Roxie (Gant) Jephcott in Gainesville, Tx. He graduated from Ropesville High School, where he has been a resident for 75 years. He married
Bettye Lou Purkiss on May 24, 1974 in Brownfield, Texas. Jerry worked as a farmer and at the Gin for most of his life. He loved Genealogy and also belonged to Hockley County Historical Association.
Mr. Jephcott was preceded in death by his wife Bettye Lou, his parents, and nine brothers and sisters.
Survivors include his daughter, Carolyn Sanderson of Tow, Texas; one brother Ira Jephcott of Levelland; step-children Robert Purkiss of Gunnison, Co, Russell Purkiss of Italy, Dr. Mary Alavi of Houston, Sue Ellen Purkiss of Taiwan, China; 24 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

William Murice "Mac" McFarland
William Murice "Mac" McFarland, 91, of Lubbock, passed from this life on Sunday, Nov. 18, 2007 at Covenant Medical Center. Funeral services for Murice will be held at Resthaven's Abbey Chapel on Friday, Nov. 23, 2007 at 4 p.m. with Donald Rhea Chesshir And J Henderson officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
Murice was born June 12, 1916 in Bartlett, Texas to William Henry and Irva Lillian (Robertson) McFarland. He attended Texas Tech, Daniel Baker and Texas Christian Universities. Murice married
Eloise Garner on Sept. 23, 1939 in Fort Worth, Texas. He ministered in several communities on the South Plains, as well as Bryson and Bartlett, Texas and Nashville, Arkansas. He also farmed and ran a dairy for 16 years. Murice sold insurance and cars prior to his retirement.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Yvonne McFarland and a son, Murice Garner McFarland, both parents and a brother, James B. McFarland. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years; a daughter and her husband, Eileen and Jimmie Smith of Brenham; a granddaughter and her husband, Christina and Don Chesshir of Floydada; a grandson and his wife, Brandt and Lori Smith of Katy; three great-grandsons, Tyler and Dillon Chesshir of Floydada and Drake Smith of Katy; two great-granddaughters, Sydni Chesshir of Floydada and Anna Mikeska of Katy; and numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Friday, Nov. 23, 2007 from 3 p.m. to service time. Family suggests memorials to Myleodysplastic Anemia Foundation, American Cancer Society and the American Heart Association.
Fenner Isham Tubbs
Fenner Isham Tubbs was richly blessed with a long life of 95 years to enjoy many friends and family.
He was born June 18, 1912 when Lubbock had only been in existence for four years. He attended the "old" Lubbock High and Texas Tech. As a student at Tech, he worked selling new and used cars. Then on April Fools Day, 1940 he opened Fenner Tubbs Company, a Chrysler/Plymouth dealership with one car.
He sold his business on Halloween 1997 after 57 years. Many wonderful and faithful employees whom he spoke about often were part of the team through those years.
Fenner loved quail hunting, golf and playing dominos. He was active in Lubbock Rotary Club. While serving as president, a speaker asked him how long he should talk. Fenner replied, "You can talk as long as you wish, but we leave at 1:00." In addition he was chairman of the Community Chest Drive.
He was a life long member of the First United Methodist Church which was started with many of his aunts and uncles. Fenner was loved for his wit and humor and great story telling. He will be missed.
His parents were Robert Isham Tubbs and Cora Lee Jones Tubbs. He married
Juanelle Windham at sunrise in Tahoka, Texas on June 22, 1935.
He had one brother Carlisle Tubbs (deceased) and one sister Loys Tubbs Patterson (deceased). Fenner and Juanelle had two children; a daughter Sara McKee and her husband Wallace of Lubbock and a son Tommy of Lubbock. He is survived by four grandchildren and three great grand children: Kara Stalcup Wischmeyer and husband Jason of Dallas and daughter Joy Blair, David Stalcup of Lubbock, Dana Stalcup Jacobs and husband Terry of Brooklyn, NY and son Kirby Fenner Jacobs and Terri Sue Tubbs-Carbone and husband Matt of Hixson, Tenn., and daughter Sasha.
Pallbearers will be Denzil Bevers, Bert Wallace, David McCauley, Sam Strong, Owen Gilbreath, Billy Kincaid, Mack Cisneros, Pat Dean, and Jack Helms. Honorary pallbearers will be the past employees of Fenner Tubbs Company.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2007 at First United Methodist Church. Private burial will be prior to that at City of Lubbock cemetery. The family will have visitation at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
