George Thomas Moore
George Thomas Moore passed away at his Lubbock home early Monday morning, Oct. 3, 2005.
George recently celebrated his 80th birthday, Aug. 25. He was born in Post in 1925 to Wade and Sarah Cryer Moore. Along with his brothers and sisters, George helped work the family farm while attending school. He attended public schools in Post and Lubbock, where he participated in football, basketball and baseball. He was a graduate of Lubbock High School. In 1942, at the age of 17, Mr. Moore joined the U.S. Navy. On leave in 1946, he returned to Lubbock and married
Ruby Louise Mauldin Nov. 2. He received many citations and awards for his military service, including the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. Mr. Moore worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for over 33 years and retired in 1984. He was a chief steward in the Communications Workers of America (CWA), Local No. 6203. He was a member of the Knights of Pythias and of the Telephone Pioneers of America. After his retirement, he was honored by several of his telephone company clients, many of whom were prominent city leaders and bankers, with the title of "Mr. Telephone Man". In the late sixties and early seventies, he was an avid golfer and was past president of the Lubbock Division Golf Association.
Mr. Moore is survived by his wife; three sons, Thomas B. Moore and wife Carla of Lubbock, David R. Moore and wife Karen of Garland, and Paul D. Moore of Lubbock; and three grandchildren, Thomas Moore of Colorado Springs, Colo., Gwendolyn Moore of Austin, and Paula Robinder of Norfolk, Va. Mr. Moore was one of nine children, his sister, Susan Carrico of New Braunsfel is the only surviving sibling.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, at Covenant Presbyterian Church followed by a military graveside service at Resthaven Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Sanders Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to a charitable organization or an agency with emphasis in research for the aging.
Family visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.
Ricky Dale Lough
Ricky Dale Lough, 46, of Jacksonville, Fla. joined his Heavenly Father Friday, Sept. 30, 2005. Ricky left this world surrounded by the love of his family and friends.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Mellana; his devoted pets; caring goddaughters, Michelle and Kristi; loving parents, Jimmie and Lynn; and sisters, Cindy and Dawn, who brought him lots of joy. He will be missed by many other additional family members and friends.
He was born and raised in Texas, then moved to Jacksonville, Fla., where he lived the past 23 years. As a proud American, he served six years in the U.S. Navy. For the next 18 years, he was proud to be employed by and a part of the J.C. Renfroe & Sons family. Ricky was blessed with a creative soul, allowing him to compose music, poems and metal sculptures, which he shared with many. Being a "car guy", he enjoyed restoring cars and was a NASCAR enthusiast. He loved being outdoors, admiring and contributing to the beauty of the earth.
A service celebrating his life was held Tuesday, Oct. 4, in Jacksonville, Fla. Graveside celebration will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, at Resthaven Memorial Park in Lubbock.

Mary Hernandez
Services for Mary Hernandez, 38, of Lubbock will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, 2005, at Guajardo Funeral Chapels with Albert Torres officiating. Burial will be at the City of Lubbock cemetery under the direction of Guajardo Funeral Chapels.
Wake will be 7 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.
She departed from this life Friday, Sept. 30, to be with the Lord.
Mary was born Feb. 18, 1966 to Julian and Maria Ramirez in Lubbock. On Dec. 23, 1981, she married
Joe Hernandez in Lubbock. They had three wonderful children. Mary was employed by Wal-Mart for 16 years. She was a shining light in all our hearts, our beloved angel. Her parents and her brother, Julio Ramirez, preceded her in death.
She is survived by her husband, Joe Hernandez; sons, Joe Luis and John Thomas; daughter, Desiree Denise; sisters, Linda, Irene, Tina, Delia, Kathy, Gloria and Mary Ann; brothers, Benny, Floyd and Jessie; grandchildren, Malachi and Jacob; and a daughter-in-law, Crystal.
John Christopher Foster
John Christopher Foster (Jack) was born July 19, 1921 in Gloucester, N.J., and passed away Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2005, at his home in Spring, Texas following a lengthy illness.
Jack served in WWII with the Army Air Force from 1941 until 1946, spending most of that time in the Philippines and Japan. In 1945 he was stationed at Shepherd Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, where he met his future wife, Abbie Jo Siddens of Seymour. After his discharge from the military in 1946, they married
and settled in Lubbock, where he enrolled at Texas Tech University and went to work at Baldridge Bakery. They stayed in Lubbock for 27 years, where they raised their family of four daughters.
In 1937 Jack and Jo moved to Corpus Christi, where he was employed as plant engineer for HEB Manufacturing Complex until his retirement in 1986. In 1994, they moved to Spring to be closer to two of their daughters.
His passion were his family, including his little dog, Cody Boy, who was always begging for and receiving treats from his daddy, anything to do with airplanes, including jumping out of them, and anything to do with horses. His way of living...honest, straight-shooting and strong aversion to anyone who didn't believe in the values he did.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Abbie Jo (Jo); his daughters, Donna Headley (Malcolm), Nicki Mitchell (Gene), Vicki Judd, and Troy Rather (Danny); eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and his best friend of 50 years, Cecil Ray.
In accordance with his wishes, Jack was cremated and a memorial service was held Friday, Sept. 30, in Spring.

Gettie Carter
Gettie Carter, 82, of Lubbock died Saturday, Oct. 1, 2005, at University Medical Center.
Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, at St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Lamesa. Burial will be at the Lamesa cemetery under the direction of Griffin Mortuary.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. today at the mortuary. Wake will follow from 6 until 8 p.m. at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church.
Jeanette Wood
Wanda Jeanette Wood, 76, of Lubbock, passed away Sunday, Nov. 11, 2007. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, at Resthaven's Abbey Chapel, with Chaplain Van Webb officiating. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today, at Resthaven Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park.
Jeanette was born June 22, 1931, in Throckmorton, to Walter W. and Henrietta (Holmes) Elkins, and grew up in Spur. She served as a Pink Lady with the Ladies Auxiliary at Nor-Lea Regional County Hospital in Hobbs, N.M. She was a greeter, and everyone knew her name; she would talk to anyone. Jeanette was married
to Woody Lee Wood, a farmer, on July 24, 1951, in Lovington, N.M., and together they had five sons. She was a beloved housewife who could swing a mean belt. She cooked and cooked and loved it. She never knew a stranger and would welcome anyone in.
Jeanette is survived by her husband of 56 years, Woody; sons, Duggan and wife Brenda Wood of Lubbock, Steve Wood of Waco, Larry Wood of Little Elm, John and wife J. Diane Wood of Midland, and Richard and wife Donna Wood of Lovington, N.M.; grandchildren, Shana Garland, Angela and husband Clint Kirkland, Alec Wood, Constance Wood, Amber and husband Michael Evans, Stormy Wood, Hayden Wood, Justin Peppin and wife Lori, and Jonathan Peppin and wife Yesi; great-grandchildren, Katelyn and Charli Garland, Riley and Keegan Kirkland, Zachary, Zoey, and Piper Evans, Jayden Peppin, and Alexia Peppin; her sister, Thelma Galene "Deanie" Wood; and brother, Richard Elkins. She is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Henrietta Elkins; daughters-in-law, Michelle Wood and Jenny Wood; and brother, Jake Elkins.

James M. "Jim" Mason
Services for James M. Mason, 88, of Slaton will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2007, in Englunds Chapel, with military graveside honors in Slaton's Englewood cemetery and under the direction of Englunds Funeral Service.
Mr. Mason passed from this life Saturday, Nov. 10, 2007, in Slaton. He was born Aug. 23, 1919, in Garza County. He graduated from Post High School in 1939 and entered Naval military service. He was a corpsman at Pearl Harbor when Japan attacked, and was on ship that landed personnel during the final WWII Theater, the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. Jim also served overseas during the Korean War and retired in 1959.
He married
Pauline Baker in Southland on Sept. 17, 1943. Pauline preceded him in death on Sept. 13, 2006.
After his military retirement Jim was a building contractor.
Jim is survived by his children, Mike of Slaton and Mickey Cole of Lubbock; two grandchildren, Barrett and Melody Miles of Houston and Sherry Smith of Wichita Falls; and two great-grandchildren, Darrius and Kyla Smith.
The family will have visitation at the funeral home today from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Clyde A. Blakeley
Clyde A. Blakeley, 83, passed away on Nov. 10, 2007, in Lubbock. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, at Rix Funeral Directors, with internment immediately following at Resthaven Memorial Park.
Clyde was born June 9, 1924, in Montebello, Calif., but moved to Dallas when he was 2. He grew up on a farm outside of Denton, where he graduated high school as Valedictorian in 1941. After high school, he served in the US Navy for 3 years during World War II and was awarded a Purple Heart.
After his naval service, he graduated with a BS degree from Texas A&M.; He worked for the USDA before co-founding Fabit Corp in 1968 in Lubbock. In 1972 he obtained three patents related the solid waste industry.
Clyde was a devoted husband, father and honest, loyal friend. He married
Mitsy Blair on July 5, 1952. They have four children: Anne Taylor and husband Lloyd, Jim Blakeley and wife Lupe, and Karen Pearsall and Julie Gove. He is survived by his loving wife, Mitsy and a brother David of Denton He is also survived by eight grandchildren: Jennifer, Steven, Jimmy, Alex, Kristi, Josh, Audrey and Dani. He has been active in the Christian Science Church, Lubbock Chamber of Commerce, Lubbock Apartment Assoc., Lubbock Economics Council, West Texas Home Builders Assoc., Sales Executive Assoc. and Levi and Laces Square Dance Club.
Visitation will be today from 5:30 - 7 p.m. at Rix Funeral Directors, 1901 Broadway.
Maria Luna
Maria Luna, 84, of Lubbock died Friday, Nov. 9, 2007. Rosary will be 7 p.m. today at Calvillo Funeral Home Chapel. Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with Father Cornelio Ramirez officiating. Burial will be at The City of Lubbock cemetery under the direction of Calvillo Funeral Home.
Maria was born on Feb. 23, 1923, in Corpus Christi, to the late Francisco and Cipriana Garza. She married
Felipe Luna in 1956 in Robstown. He preceded her in death on Feb. 25, 2006. She was a retired custodian for First National Bank of Lubbock. She moved to Lubbock in 1958 from Robstown. She was a faithful catholic and a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Simona Luna, in 1948.
Survivors include Lupe Ramirez of Lubbock and Gloria Vasquez of Greeley, Colo., 11 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
