Vernedeen B. Wright
Graveside services for Vernedeen B. Wright, 82, of Lubbock and formerly of Bula, will be conducted at 11 a.m., today at Littlefield Memorial Park with Reverend Joe Stewart, Pastor of the First Baptist Church in Littlefield, officiating.
Mrs. Wright went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, Nov. 24, 2007, at her home in Lubbock. She was born Oct. 10, 1925 in Plainview to Vern and Ruby Maxwell Weaver. She married
R.B. Wright, Dec. 23, 1943, in Littlefield. She was a member of the Bula Baptist Church where she was very active. Vernedeen especially enjoyed spending time with her family.
Survivors include: her husband, R.B. Wright of Lubbock; sons, Bill Wright and wife, Minh, of Houston, Howard Wright of Lubbock, and Richard Wright and wife Mary of Littlefield; one daughter, Amanda Rodriguez and husband Eric of Hobbs, N.M.; one sister, Marie Arend of Manitowoc, Wis.; 12 grandchildren; and eight great great-grandchildren.

Lynda Leigh George
Lynda Leigh George, 62, beloved mother, devoted grandmother and wife, passed away Thursday, August 18, 2005 in Methodist Hospital in Dallas. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Monday August 22, 2005 at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Davenport, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill cemetery.
Mrs. George was born Aug. 31, 1942 in Cee Vee, Texas. She grew up in the Childress and Turkey area and attended schools in Turkey. She married
Ronnie George on May 28, 1960 in Turkey, Texas. They lived in Tulia since 1974. She was a housewife and a member of First Baptist Church. She had been very active in the Progressive Study Club in Tulia.
She is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Ronnie George of Tulia; one daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Benny Durham of Kress; one son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Shavonne George of Tulia; one brother, Gordon Rothwell of Plainview; four loving grandchildren, Lacey Durham Quebe of Lubbock, Weston Durham of Lubbock, Brennen George of Tulia, and Gentry George of Tulia.

Robert Gould III
WICHITA FALLS - Services for Robert Simonton Gould III, 69, of Wichita Falls will be 11 a.m. Friday in the sanctuary of Fain Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Issac Butterworth officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home.
He died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2000, in Wichita Falls.
He was born March 17, 1930, in Wichita Falls.
He attended Hardin Junior College. He was a retired safety engineer. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Mesa, Ariz., and served as the moderator of deacons. He was a first aid instructor in Los Angeles and volunteered with the Wichita Falls Meals on Wheels program.
Survivors include his wife, Anne Andrews Gould of Wichita Falls; a daughter, Janet Rainey of Wichita Falls; two sons, Gary of Lubbock and Robert of Wichita Falls; three brothers, John and Ben, both of Midland, and Thomas of Tucson, Ariz.; seven grandchildren; a step granddaughter; and a step-great-grandson.
David Rocco
David Rocco, 72, of Lubbock died Saturday, July 21, 2007, at VistaCare Center. Services will be 10 a.m. at Griffin Mortuary Chapel. Burial will follow at Peaceful Garden cemetery under the direction of Griffin Mortuary.
Frank Rogers Thomas
Frank Thomas of Tahoka passed away in Tahoka at Lynn County Hospital on July 21, 2007. Words cannot express how much he was loved or how much he will be missed. He was born Jan. 30, 1930, in Lubbock, to John Elmer and Bessie Mae (Clevenger) Thomas. Mr. Thomas grew up in the central community attending school in Garnolia and Post. He married
Melba Roberts Feb.14, 1951, in Grassland.
Mr. Thomas was a life long farmer in Lynn and Garza Counties. He was a member of Producers Coop Gin, in Grassland, where he served as director for many years. Frank was a member of Sweet Street Baptist Church. He accepted Jesus as his Savior, and was Baptized, joining Central Baptist Church on September 6, 1942.
He is survived by his wife, Melba Thomas; one son, Chan and wife Jamie of Ransom Canyon; one daughter, Inola and husband Rob of Lubbock; three granddaughters, Lee Robin and Laci of Ransom Canyon and Cady of Lubbock; one grandson, Cale of Lubbock; two brothers, J.E. Thomas of Fredericksburg, Va. and Vandon C. Thomas of Annandale, Va.; one sister, Martha McDowell of Adrian, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Thomas was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, WL, Oscar Ray and CL; and two sisters, Virginia Lee and Hazel.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, July 25, 2007, at 10 a.m., at the Sweet Street Baptist Church in Tahoka, with Rev. Lynn Long officiating. Interment will follow at the Grassland cemetery.

Vantashia Amaya Samuels
Vantashia Amaya Samuels, 2, of Lubbock died Wednesday, July 18, 2007, at University Medical Center. Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Lyons Chapel Baptist Church. Burial will follow at the City of Lubbock cemetery under the direction of Griffin Mortuary.
She leaves to cherish her memory her mother, Lacresha Dunn of Lubbock; her grandmother, Thelma Turner of Lubbock; her brother, Rashon Wigfall of Lubbock; her three loving aunts, Velma Dinwiddie, Dorothy Curry, and Berry Bible, all of Lubbock; two loving uncles, Lonnie Turner and Floyd Dillard, both of Lubbock; two loving grandfathers, Henry Hughes and Burdett Dunn, both of Lubbock; and a host of friends and family.
The family will receive visitors from 1 until 6 p.m. today.
W. A. "Bill" Barber
W. A. "Bill" Barber, 88, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Monday, Dec. 03, 2007, during a short stay at Savannah Grace Nursing Home in Mt. Pleasant. A Memorial service will be Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2007, in the Chapel at The Palms, Mt. Pleasant at 4 p.m. There will also be a memorial service on Friday, Dec. 7, 2007, at Trinity Presbyterian Church, Travelers Rest, S.C., at 2 p.m. The family will receive friends immediately following the church service in the church social hall. Mr. Barber was born in Concord, N.C., on Feb, 10, 1919, and resided at The Palms of Mt. Pleasant, S.C. He was formerly of Greenville, S.C. Mr. Barber was a World War II, US Navy Veteran in the Pacific Theater, where he served as an Aviation Navigator and Spotter. He was a long time member of Trinity Presbyterian Church, Travelers Rest, S.C., retired President of Burlington Cotton Company, Past President of the Greenville Cotton Exchange, Past board member of the New York Cotton Exchange, member of The Poinsett Club, Textile Representative to the National Cotton Council, active member of the S.C. Textile Manufacturers Association, as well as the American Textile Manufacturers Association. He was an avid golfer and gin player, member and past president of Green Valley Country Club.
Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Ellen McClellan Barber; four sons and four daughters-in-law; Ross and Jan of Lubbock, Alan and Regina of Greenville, S.C., Andy and Linda of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., and Mitch and Donna of Mt. Pleasant, S.C.; four grandchildren, Kirby and Cody of Lubbock and Bill and Troy of Mt. Pleasant.

Clinton Holmes
PLAINVIEW — Services for Clinton Holmes, 84, of Plainview will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Northside Baptist Church with the Rev. Roger Foote officiating.
Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park under the direction of Lemons Funeral Home of Plainview.
He died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2001.
He was born May 7, 1917, in Aspermont. He married
Jo Evans on May 7, 1938, in Farwell. He lived in Aspermont, Bovina, Texaco and Clovis, N.M. He farmed in Stanford until 1968 when he moved to Plainview.
He retired from the U.S. Post Office after nine years. He was a member and deacon of Northside Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Maddoux.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Eva June Logan of Fort Worth and Barbara Faus of Lubbock; a son, Freddie Holmes of Plainview; a brother, Terry Holmes of Conroe; a sister, Mildred Cohan of San Antonio; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Dorothy Falls Wheelock
Dorothy Falls Wheelock, age 60, died unexpectedly at her home on Friday, Dec. 14, 2007. She was of the Baptist faith. She graduated from Sulfur Springs High School in 1965. She was a graduate of ETSU and a member of the Sigma Kappa Sorority, and was a retired teacher of the Texas school system.
She is survived by her husband, Danny Wheelock of Lakeland, Fla.; two sons, Craig Falls and wife, Stacie, of Austin, and Jason Falls and wife, Adriana, of Houston; one granddaughter, Julianna Falls, of Ft. Worth; one grandson, Cade Falls, of Austin; and three grandsons, Aidan, Riley, and Kyler Falls, of Houston; her mother, Doris E. Whitson, of Gray, Tenn.; one sister, Donna W. Guinn, of Gray, Tenn.; one brother, Dr. Dale E. Whitson, and wife, Kathy, of Gray, Tenn.; one niece, Krista Orr and husband, Greg, of Gray, Tenn.; two great-nephews, Connor and Jacob Orr, of Gray; and several uncles, aunts and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father, Nathan G. Whitson.
Pallbearers are Herb, Joe, Randy and Argil Wheelock, brothers of Danny Wheelock, Greg Orr, Rod Crawford, Jeff Whitson, Tony McFaddin, and Todd Wolfe.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2007 from 6 - 8 p.m., at Tetrick Funeral Home, in Johnson City, Tenn. Funeral will follow. Pastor Clint Andrews will officiate.
Interment will be at Harmony Baptist Church cemetery, 1100 Harmony Rd., Jonesborough, Tenn., Thursday, Dec. 20, 2007, at 10 a.m.
