Funeral services for Maria G. Cavazos, 87, of Smyer will be 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4, 2008, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with Father Martin Pi?a officiating. Rosary will be on Sunday, Feb. 3, 2008 at 7 p.m. at Guajardo Funeral Chapels. Burial will be at Smyer cemetery under the direction of Guajardo Funeral Chapels.
She died on Friday, Feb. 1, 2008 at University Medical Center. She was born on June 16, 1920 in Pineno Ranch Zapata County, Texas. She married
Donaciano Cavazos on Feb. 18, 1950.
She was a homemaker. She loved her children and grandchildren and adored her great-grandchildren. Her hobby was to make quilts.
Survivors include: daughter, Dora and Pete Heidtke of Irving; sons, Donaciano Cavazos Jr., Daniel and Esperanza Cavazos of De Lope?o, Donato and Dolores Cavazos of Smyer; siblings, Francisca Gutierrez of Atlanta, Ga., and Alejandro Salinas and Jesus Salinas, both of Utah; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be the grandkids: Daniel Cavazos Jr., Gabriel Cavazos Derek Heidtke, Jesus Martinez Jr, Aaron Sanchez, Rafael Vela, Roel Bautista, Larry Rocha.
Maye Williams
Services for Maye Williams, 89, of Lubbock and formerly of Floydada will be 11 a.m. Monday, at Carr's Chapel Methodist Church, with Reverend Ted Wilson and Reverend Jody Wilson officiating. Burial will be at Carr's Chapel cemetery under the direction of Calvillo Funeral Home.
Maye passed away on Thursday, Jan. 31, 2008. She was born on Aug. 19, 1918, in Lockney, to the late Mather Carr (Nov. 11, 1959) and Annie Almeda Carr (Aug. 8, 1979). She married
Chloma Alton Williams on Dec. 19, 1936 in Lubbock. He preceded her in death on April 23, 1984. Maye was a licensed beautician. She had worked for Irene's beauty shop for a period of time in Floydada. Maye farmed in Floydada for many years before retiring. She was a Charter member of Carr's Chapel Methodist Church, which was founded by her grandfather, William Hardy Carr. Maye had many talents, which she loved to use. As an artist, she loved to paint porcelain plates and to write. She loved to play 42 with her friends at Elmbrook Estates. Maye was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Leanne Williams, in 1940.
Survivors include a daughter, Sue Williams of Manhattan, Kan.; three grandchildren, Brent and wife Tami Williams of Wolfforth, Daralyn and husband Mark Jiron of Lubbock, and Kimber Williams of San Diego, Calif. Maye was a great grandmother to Justin Williams and Jason Williams, both of Wolfforth and Kendra Jiron, Kyla Jiron and Kolton Jiron, all of Lubbock.
The Williams family will receive family and friends today from 4 until 7 p.m. at Calvillo Funeral Home, 206 E. 19th Street, in Lubbock.
Mrs. Williams will be in state at Carr's Chapel Methodist Church on Monday from 9 a.m. until service time.
The family requests that memorials be donated to Carr's Chapel, which can be directed to Judy Hollums, P.O. Box 374, Petersburg, Texas 79250.
Pamela Jean Tungate
Pamela Jean Tungate of Lubbock overcame her four year battle with cancer on Feb. 1, 2008 at the age of 56 years. Like the apostle Paul, Pam could say "For me, to live is Christ and to die is gain." She was born on Dec. 4, 1951, in Flora, Ill., to Frank and Maxine Haycock Wood. On June 16, 1972, she married
Randy Tungate in Flora. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband; two sons, Aaron Tungate and wife Valisa of Ft. Worth and Adam Tungate and wife Carrie of Lubbock; one sister, Priscilla Northcutt of Lenexa, Kan.; four grandchildren, Ally, Luke, Branson, and Ben; and father and mother-in-law, Cotton and Caroline Tungate of Flora, Ill.. Nothing was more important to Pam than her love of God, her marriage, and her family.
Pam went to Flora High School, graduating in 1970. She attended the College of the Southwest, graduating in 1996 with her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. She continued her education at Lubbock Christian University, graduating in 1998 with her Bachelor of Science degree in Social Work. She received her Master's of Science Degree in Social Work in 2003 from the University of Texas, Arlington. Pam was a member of the Monterey Church of Christ in Lubbock.
Formal Visitation will be from 5 -7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4, 2008 at Monterey Church of Christ. Celebration of Life Services will follow at 7 p.m. at the church, with Bobby McMillan officiating. Graveside Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2008 at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Joe Arrington Cancer Center at 4101 22nd Place, Lubbock, Texas 79410, Attn: Darlene Condren, and Hospice of Lubbock at 1102 Slide Rd # 3, Lubbock, TX 79416.

Paul E. Zintgraff
Dr. Paul Edward Zintgraff passed on one year ago. He was a consummate educator, father, and husband. The measure of what he leaves behind is unfathomable to his family who misses him and celebrates his life.
Dr. Zintgraff was an educational leader who served as a teacher, superintendent, and professor. He was Superintendent of Schools in two California communities, La Canada and Palm Springs (1963-1971), before moving to Texas Tech University were he completed his 50 years of service in education. At Texas Tech, Dr. Zintgraff was Department Chair, teaching doctoral students and helping to shape a new generation of educational leaders.
Dr. Zintgraff retired as Professor Emeritus in 1986 and moved to Henderson, Nevada where he and his wife built a home and lived for twenty years. A much loved father and husband, he was married
to June Rose Zintgraff for 62 years. Typical of the Greatest Generation, Dr. Zintgraff served four years in the Pacific during World War II, most of the time in the front lines. His stories of the war continually moved his family to tears and appreciation.
Dr. Zintgraff, who shoveled coal from midnight to 5 a.m. for four years to earn his way through college, is remembered by his three children, Cheryl Z. Tibbals of San Francisco, Bonnie B. McNamara of Escondido, and Edward F. Zintgraff of Las Vegas. He also left behind seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Lillian Faye Staggs
In Loving Memory of Lillian Faye Staggs, 3, of Lubbock. God blessed our family with a beautiful angel on Dec. 8, 2004. After three wonderful years, she has touched many hearts and many lives with her loving spirit.
On Feb. 6, 2008, Jesus called Lillian back home.
She is survived by her parents, Jimmie and Nichole; her brothers, Ethan, Jakob, Samuel, and Seth; five grandparents; five great-grandparents; two uncles; three aunts; and numerous family members and friends.
Services will be 3 p.m Saturday, Feb. 9, 2008, at Sanders Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, with Rev. Elizabeth Abraham officiating.
Burial will follow in the City of Abernathy cemetery under the direction of Sanders Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home tonight from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Eldon Reed
Celebration of Life services for Eldon Reed, 84, of Lubbock will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, 2008, at Resthaven's Mausoleum Chapel, with Shawn Miller officiating.
Eldon was born in Decatur, Texas, June 20, 1923. His parents were Charlie and Bertie Reed. He joined the 15th Air Force in 1942 and served his country until August 1946. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 571 in Sweetwater. He received his 50 year pen in 2005. Eldon and Mildred Buchalla were married
July 16, 1943. Together they had two sons, Terry Reed and wife Mary Ann of Georgetown and Ray Reed and wife Juanita of Lubbock; two granddaughters, Hayley of Lubbock and Stacie Moore and husband Brad, and one precious great-granddaughter, Bristol Reed Moore, all of Ft. Worth; and two step granddaughters, Karen Benton and LeAnn Bruster, all who he loved very much.
He is preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and three brothers. He is survived by one sister, Ola May Denny of Fort Worth and several nieces and nephews. Eldon worked in the retail grocery business from 1946 until retiring in 1985. He was a store manager the last 10 years before he retired in Sweetwater. Eldon loved going to the coast, Galveston and South Padre Island. He spent lots of days fishing and hunting with his wife and two sons, and most of all, he liked his R.V. s and C.B. radio. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Wolfforth.
Pamela Ann Roberts
The life of Pamela Ann Roberts will be celebrated at 2 p.m. this afternoon at Bacon Heights Baptist Church with Revs. Bill McMillan and Mike Martindale officiating. Mrs. Roberts died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2008.
Pam was born on July 26, 1952, in Harlingen, to Harold Kenneth and Peggy Jean Hatcher. She graduated from Texas Tech University with a Bachelors Degree in Telecommunications. Pam married
Randy Roberts on May 25, 1974 in Gainesville. Pam and Randy lived in Lubbock for 24 years and had been in Harlingen for the past five years. Pam loved working in her flower garden and spending time with family and friends. She was a member of Bacon Heights Baptist Church, Lubbock.
Those left to cherish Pam's memory are her husband, Randy of Harlingen; three children, Erin Patterson and husband Chris of Euless, Allen Roberts and wife Ashley of San Francisco, Calif. and Emmy Holt and husband Mickey of San Antonio; a sister, Barbie Baugh of Wylie; a brother, H.K. Hatcher of Edmond, Okla.; her mother-in-law, Jimmie Lee Roberts of Lamesa; and two precious grandchildren, Jayton and Emilia Patterson.

Lula Juanita Sanders
Lula Juanita Sanders, 85, passed away peacefully at her home in Lubbock on Monday, Feb. 4, 2008.
She was born in Pilot Point, Texas to William Albert and Joicy S. Jones.
Left to cherish her memory is her three daughters, Patricia Ham, Kay Dahl and Linda Mears; son Robert Leo "Bobby" Sanders; sister Sammye Nichols; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Leo Robert Sanders.
Graveside services will be held 3 p.m. today, Feb. 5, 2008 at Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.
Christopher John Bednarz
A Funeral Mass for Christopher John Bednarz, of Lubbock, will be celebrated on Tuesday, Feb. 5th, at 10 a.m., at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, with Msgr. Gene Driscoll officiating. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.
Chris was born on Jan. 30, 1966 in Levelland and passed away on Feb. 2, 2008 in Lubbock at the age of 42.
Chris graduated from Idalou High School and received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from TTU in 1989. Since graduating, he had been employed as an engineer with Lummus Company. Chris married
the former Shawna Nelson in Dalhart on April 25, 1992.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Collin and Cade of the home; his parents, Royce and Catherine Bednarz of Arlington; one brother, Craig Bednarz of Lubbock; one sister, Cindy Trett of Arlington; and his maternal grandmother, Mary Veretto of Arlington.
