Peggy Franks
Dorothy Clayton "Peggy" Franks, 75, of Lubbock, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2008. Celebration of life services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, at Resthaven's Abbey Chapel, with Chaplain Randy Hamilton officiating. Interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park. Friends are welcome to pay their respects after 8 a.m. today at Resthaven.
Peggy was born on July 28, 1932, in Doddsville, Mississippi, to Fred and Annie Mae Clayton. She grew up in Greenville, Miss. and married
Gerald W. Franks on Jan. 24, 1959 in Greenville. The family moved to Lubbock in 1968, where she was a wonderful homemaker, raising her family and being involved with her children.
Peggy is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Gerald Franks, Sr. of Lubbock; daughter, Pat Toler of Greenville, Miss.; son, Ira Fant Walls of Olive Branch, Miss.; son, Jimmy Fant Walls of Slidell, La.; daughter, Judy Carter of Slidell, La.; son, Gerald Franks, Jr. of Lubbock; daughter, Susan Spradling of Lubbock; sister, Betty Kafoury of Santa Rosa Beach, Fla.; sister, Butch Hubbard of Louise, Miss.; eight grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her brother, A.Z. Clayton, and her sister, Vera Stotts.

Harold Berry
Harold David Berry, 77, left this life for his Heavenly home Feb. 1, 2008.
Services will be at Resthaven's Abbey Chapel at 1 p.m. on Feb. 5, 2008, with the Rev. Jim Brown officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
Harold was born April 12, 1930, to W.D. and Ima Berry, in Abilene. The family moved to Big Spring and Harold graduated high school there in 1948. He played scholarship baseball at several colleges and became a Marine in 1952. After an honorable discharge, he attended Texas Tech University.
He married
Jean Findley in 1964 and for years made his living drilling wells. He began disability retirement in 1983.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Jeanne Beth Winton. Those lucky enough to know and cherish this remarkable husband, father and brother are his wife, Jean; daughter, Karen D. Berry; and son, Larry Winton and wife Oressa, all of Lubbock; son, Steve Winton, of Windsor, Calif.; brother, John L. Berry and wife Sandra of Tyler; three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Harold devoted countless hours supporting and helping out the Tech baseball team. He was an avid sports enthusiast and was inducted into the Big Spring High School Sports Hall of Fame.
He loved his family and was adored by them. Harold was a longtime member of Monterey Baptist Church. The family suggests contributions to the church's general fund, or to Texas Tech Baseball.
The family will receive visitation at Resthaven Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4, 2008.
Adelina Lucia Esparza
Our precious daughter and loved one went to be with the Lord and Blessed Mother on June 11, 2007, at home with her family. Although she was only with us for a short time, she brought us love, joy, happiness and she will be cherished always in our hearts.
Funeral services for Adelina Lucia Esparza of Lubbock will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 14, 2007, at Christ the King Cathedral, with Msgr. Ben Kasteel officiating.
Rosary will be today, June 13, 2007, at 7 p.m., at Guajardo Funeral Chapels.
Burial will be at Resthaven cemetery under the direction of Guajardo Funeral Chapels. She was born on May 2, 2007, in Lubbock.
Survivors include her parents, Leonardo and Anna Esparza; three brothers, Michael, Mark and Anthony; one sister, Marlena; grandmother, Nina Jaime; grandparents, Delma and Apolonio Esparza Jr.; great-grandparents, Deacon Alfredo B. and Lupe Jaime and Manuel Salazar; other family members, Vargas Family, Massie Family, Garcia Family, Esparza Family; and ten cousins.

George T. Becknal
George T. Becknal passed away Jan. 23, 2008, in Lubbock. Celebration of Life Service will be held Monday, Jan. 28, 2008, at 1 p.m., in Resthaven's Abbey Chapel. Burial with military honors will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park.
George was born Jan. 14, 1922, in Honey Grove, to Thomas and Floy Frances Becknal. He served his country in the Army in the 383rd Infantry, Company H 96th Division in the Pacific, receiving among other awards, two bronze stars. George married
Martha Morrow June 13, 1942 in Honey Grove. Together, they owned and operated Becknal Cleaners for over 34 years.
Survivors include his wife, Martha, of Lubbock; daughter, Linda Rautis, of Lubbock; daughter, Peggy Stiggins and husband, Mark, of Mount Juliet, Tenn.; grandchildren, Rob Rautis and wife, Michelle, of Salt Lake City, Utah, Jason Rautis and wife Vanessa, of Lubbock, Lori Stiggins, of Lebanon, Tenn. and Matt Stiggins, of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; great-grandchildren, John Michael Rautis and Rachel Rautis, both of Salt Lake City, Utah and Elise Rautis, of Lubbock; brothers, Ewell Carter, of Bakersfield, Calif. and Robert Becknal, of Port-land, Ore.

Tommy Van Kendrick
Tommy Van Kendrick, 75, of Lometa, died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2008 at Soton Medical Center in Austin, Texas. Tommy was born Oct. 26, 1932 in Runnels County, Texas, the son of Hollis Glen Kendrick and Neva Erdele Foster Kendrick. Tommy moved to Lampasas County in 1939 where he attended Ogles, Nix, and Lometa schools. He graduated from Lometa High School in 1950, attended Texas A&M; University, and served in the US Army. He married
Hannah Brown in 1958. Tommy's life revolved around family and the cattle industry, and the community he loved. He enjoyed ranching and trading cattle. He has maintained lifelong friendships with business associates from the east coast to the west coast, Mexico and Korea. Tommy was a member of the Church of Christ in Lometa, Lometa Lion's Club, American Legion, and Senterfitt cemetery Board (where he currently was serving as President). He served on the Lometa School Board, served as a director of American Red Cross, and numerous other boards and associations.
Funeral services for Tommy Van Kendrick will be held on Sunday, Jan. 27, 2008 at 2 p.m. at Lometa Church of Christ with Darnell Boyd officiating. Burial will follow at Senterfitt cemetery near Lometa.
Survivors include wife, Hannah Kendrick of Lometa; daughter, Kathy Henson and her husband, Monty of Brownfield and their children, Tatum and Allen Schilling of Lubbock, Madison Becker of Midland, and Mason Becker of Brownfield, and great granddaughter, Kambyl Schilling; daughter, Sheri Stone and her husband, Stephen and their sons, Sam and Shane all of Lometa; brother, Max Kendrick and wife, Donna of Rose, Okla.; sister-in-law, Lileen Kendrick of Abilene; brother-in-law, Louis Vidrine of Many, La.; Uncle Dixon V. Kendrick and wife, Leah of Pearl City, Hawaii; Aunt Joan Moore of Abilene; and many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Foster Kendrick and by a sister, Betty Vidrine.

Mark Terral
Family and friends of Mark Terral will gather at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2007, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers, to celebrate his forty-eight years of life followed by committal service at Resthaven Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Monday at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. Mr. Terral passed from this life on Friday, Sept. 28, 2007.
John Chamness
LORAINE - Services for John Wesley "Wes" Chamness, 87, of Snyder will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Loraine cemetery with the Rev. Larry McAden, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, officiating.
Burial is under direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
He died Sunday, April 16, 2000, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock.
He was born July 29, 1912, in Myrtle Springs. He married
Opal Mae Tillison on March 17, 1933, in Ranger. He was a self-employed mechanic. He was a Baptist.
A daughter, Barbara Chamness, died Dec. 7, 1998.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Bonnie Tigrett of Las Cruces, N.M.; two sons, Johnny of Garland and Mickey of Memphis, Tenn.; a sister, Faye Miller of Robert Lee; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Delbert Todd
PLAINVIEW — Services for Delbert Todd, 68, of Hale Center will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Lemons Funeral Home Chapel in Plainview with the Rev. Dean McNamara officiating.
Burial will be in Plainview cemetery under the direction of Lemons Funeral Home of Plainview.
He died Sunday, April 8, 2001.
He was born May 7, 1932, in Jacksboro and moved to Tulia in 1948 and to Plainview in 1951. He was a farmer. He married
Jewel "Judy" Dean Sarver on May 25, 1951, in Tulia. She died Dec. 14, 2000.
Survivors include four sons, Ricky and Terry, both of Hale Center, Larry of Palm Springs, Fla., and Johnny of Versailles, Mo.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to Vista Care Family Hospice of Plainview.
Frances Queen McElroy
Frances Queen McElroy died Monday, Feb. 12, 2007 in Tucson, Ariz.
She was born in Owensboro, Ky. on Aug. 5, 1914. She married
D.M. McElroy, former Texas Tech football player, on May 4, 1946 in Houston. They moved to Lubbock in 1947.
She is survived by two daughters, Melissa Wenger and Melinda Waters and a grandson, Evan Hall.
Burial service will be held at Resthaven Memorial Park at a later date.
Arrangements are by Bring's Broadway Chapel, 6910 E. Broadway, Tuscon, Ariz.
