Librado V. Najera
Funeral services for Librado V. Najera, 78, of Lubbock will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 25, 2008, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Father Andres Mendoza officiating. Viewing will be on Sunday, March 23, 2008 from 5 to 9 p.m. Rosary will be on Monday, March 24, 2008 at 7 p.m. at Guajardo Funeral Chapels. Burial will be at Peaceful Gardens cemetery under the direction of Guajardo Funeral Chapels. Librado went home to his Lord on Good Friday, March 21, 2008. Librado was born in July 20, 1929 in Uvalde, Texas, to Marcela Valdez and Jose Najera. He was reared in Acu?a, Coahuila, Mexico by his tia, Elvira, after the death of his mother. He married
the former Micaela Lara, in Midland, where they lived until moving to Lubbock in 1965. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Marcela Najera and all of his siblings, Jose Luis Najera, Andres Najera, Jose Najera, Agapito Najera, Juan Najera and Maria Herrera. As the youngest of his siblings he was also the last of their family.
Mr. Najera was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and worked as a laborer for C.W. Oaks in Midland, Smith and Sweet Masonry Construction, in Lubbock, and Dee Brown in Dallas, until his retirement in 1989. As a laborer, he helped in the construction of projects such as the South Plains Mall, Texas Tech Museum and the Gov. Preston Smith's residential home. His children and grandchildren were the light of his life. He loved watching them compete in sports especially baseball and powerlifting.
Survivors include his wife, Micaela Najera; two daughters, Mary Grace Najera and Anna Rey; four sons, Jose Luis Najera, Ruben Najera, Librado (Leo) Najera Jr. and Armando Najera; nine grandsons; and three granddaughters.
Pallbearers will be Beto Rodarte Jr., Miguel Najera, Ruben Najera Jr., Librado (Leo) Najera III, Armando Najera Jr., and Luis Adrian Rey.
Honorary pallbearers will be Gavino Basaldua, Gabriel Najera and Tommy Najera.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Mi Casita and NursCare Hospice for their loving care of their father.
Keith Cornwell
Keith Cornwell, 58, of Lubbock died Thursday at UMC. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, in the Franklin-Bartley Chapel. Burial will follow in the Ralls cemetery. His family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7 p.m. today, at the Funeral Home.
Keith was born in Crosbyton, to J. L. and Iva Jo Cornwell. He was a 1968 graduate of Ralls High School.
He is survived by his son, Scott Cornwell, of Lubbock; a sister, Jo Retta Knight, and husband, Ron, of Hot Springs Village, Ark.; and his brother, Johnny W. Cornwell and his wife, Linda, of Duncan, Okla.

Jewel Wells
Services for Jewel Wells, 71, of Lubbock, will be at 2 p.m., Monday, March 24, 2008, in Sanders Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at the Idalou cemetery in Idalou.
Mrs. Wells passed away on March 21, 2008.
Jewel Cathern was born July 31, 1936 in Pottsville, Ark., to J. P. and Dora Hobbs. She moved to Lubbock, Feb. 2, 1952, with her parents. She graduated from Idalou High School, May, 1954. She attended Texas Tech University for two years. She worked for Retail Merchants, Monterey High School and the S.B.A. She married
Bennett Carr Wells, Jr. on Aug. 10, 1956 in New Deal. Bennett passed away Dec. 21, 1998.
She is survived by two sons; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren, all of Lubbock; her mother, Dora Hobbs, of Lubbock; three brothers, James Hobbs, of Hartman, Ark., David Hobbs, of Huntsville, Ala., and Dale Hobbs, of Lubbock; two sisters, Nina Woodard of Clarksville, Ark., and Delores Cochran, of Lubbock; and loving friends, Claude and Charlotte Holmes, Betty Montgomery and Marjorie Tischler.
The family will receive friends from 4-5 p.m., Sunday at Sanders Funeral Home.
Billie Farrar
Billie Farrar, age 88, of Decatur, passed away on March 17, 2008 in Decatur, Texas. Graveside services will be held, Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at 1 p.m. at Parklawn Memorial Gardens under the direction of Lemons Funeral Home. Her nephew, Joe Don Hancock, will officiate.
Mrs. Farrar was born Billie Davis on Feb. 10, 1920, in Royse City, Texas, to Will Davis and Mollie (Vicars) Davis. Billie moved to Plainview with her family in 1927. She attended Liberty and Kress schools and graduated from Kress High School.
She married
Frank L. Farrar on Dec. 14, 1941, in Clovis, N.M. Billie and Frank farmed, east of Olton, for 29 years. They had two children, Deanna and Rocky. Billie was a homemaker, a caring wife and always interested in her children and grandchildren's activities. Billie was also a long time member of the Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frank L. Farrar, in 1983; three brothers; and three sisters.
Billie is survived by her daughter, Deanna Jackson and husband, Don, of Decatur; her son, Rocky Farrar and wife, Polly, of Canadian; three grandsons, Dirk and wife, Katy, Dusty and wife, Melissa, and Dake Jackson; four granddaughters, Anne, Leigh, Kate, and Jenny Farrar; her sister-in-law, Inez Davis, of Plainview; two great-granddaughters, Kimberly and Abby; and several nieces and nephews.

Dorothy Paul
Dorothy Paul, 83, of Decatur, passed away Thursday, March 20, 2008. Funeral services are planned for 2 p.m., Monday, March 24, 2008, at Resthaven's Abbey Chapel with Greg Groves officiating. Interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park.
Dorothy Lou Paul was born Aug. 20, 1924, in Bexar County, to Will and Maude (Lambertson) Placke. She graduated from Southwest Texas State Teacher's College in 1946, where she worked as a secretary in the office of the school President. She and Dr. Jesse Paul were married
on July 8, 1946 in Yoakum, after which she taught school in Galveston, while Jesse completed medical school. When Jesse began practicing medicine, Dorothy's focus shifted from teaching to supporting Jesse's career, participating in church activities, and raising her six children. Throughout her life, during which she lived in Victoria, San Antonio, Riverside, Calif., and Lubbock, she was active in teaching Bible School, and coordinating and teaching Ladies Bible Class. Following Jesse's death she moved to Decatur, where she continued to be involved in her local church.
Dorothy is survived by her sisters, Ruth Wright, and Mildred Covalt; brother, Tim Placke; her children, Mark Paul and his wife, Sandy, of Stevensville, Mont., Lauren Paul Groves and her husband, Greg, of Casper, Wyo., Holly Paul Standly and her husband, Kirk, of Plano, Amy Paul Garrett and her husband, Rick, of Decatur; daughter-in-law, Lisa Paul. of Austin; Jerry Webb, of Austin; 15 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jesse; her daughter, Pamela Paul Webb; and her son, Matthew William Paul.
Hubert McKinley Drake, Jr.
Hubert McKinley Drake, Jr., 81, of Lubbock, passed away Friday, March 21, 2008.
He was born March 16, 1927, in Midland, to Hubert McKinley, Sr. and Myrtle Pearlee Drake. Duck graduated from Midland High School in 1944. He served as a Navel Sea Bee during WW II where he survived floating at sea 300 miles off the coast of Pearl Harbor for seven days after his P.T. boat sustained damage and sunk. After his naval service, he worked his way through college as a surveyor and landman for American Trading in Abilene. Duck moved to Lubbock, in the early 60's and became very active in real estate until he retired in 2006.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Duck is survived by his sons, Joe M. Drake of Odessa, and Jay H. Drake of Lewisville, Texas.
The family will receive friends at Ellis Funeral Home, Monday, March 24, 2008 between the hours of 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. Graveside services have been scheduled for 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at Fairview cemetery.
Jack Kenwright, Jr.
Jack hit the road Friday, March 21, 2008, after 81 years of enjoying life.
Celebration of Life services for Jack Kenwright, Jr., 81, of Lubbock will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at Resthaven's Abbey Chapel with Rev Charles Carman officiating. Entombment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park's Mausoleum. A visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. March 24, 2008 at Resthaven Funeral Home.
Jack Kenwright, Jr. was born Oct. 8, 1926 in Greenwood, Miss. to the late Jack Sr. and Clara (Mullen) Kenwright. He graduated from Greenwood High School. Jack served in the United States Navy during WWII.
He married
the love of his life Wilma Goss, Aug. 3, 1951. In 1960 Jack and his family moved to Texas where Jack was employed by Plains Cotton Co-op. Jack started his career in the cotton industry when he was 14 years old and after 58 years retired in 1998. He served as a Boy Scout Leader, a volunteer at UMC, and was a member of Raintree Christian Church. Jack was preceded in death by a brother, J.B. Kenwright and a sister, Dot Taylor.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Wilma of Lubbock; daughters, Karen Troutman and husband, Jerry of Kansas City, Mo. and Susan Bledsoe and husband Linn of Elgin, Texas; brother, Norman Kenwright of Greenward, Miss. and a sister Frances Minyard of Navarre, Fla.; and seven grandchildren.

W. H. (Hall) Ferguson
W. H. (Hall) Ferguson of Lubbock departed this life on March 23, 2008 at the age of 91 years. He was born on Aug. 1, 1916 to William O. P. and Arbelle Anderson Ferguson in Fannin County, Texas. He moved from Leonard, Texas to Lubbock in 1927. Mr. Ferguson attended Frenship Schools. Hall married
Ruby Lee Kidwell on March 10, 1935 in Lubbock. He was the Superintendent of Transportation for Citibus from 1941-1985. Hall was a longtime member of Monterey Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, taught Sunday school and led singing.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Ruby Lee; three sons, Harvey and wife Jackie of Lewisville, Clifton and wife Ginger of Lubbock, and Barry and wife Cheryl of Austin; six grandchildren, Pam Adams, Amy English, Gina Logi, Scott Ferguson, Stephanie Ferguson Craig, and Jonathan Ferguson; and six great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; four brothers; and five sisters.
Formal visitation will be held from 6 -8 p.m., Monday, March 24, 2008 at White Funeral Home of Lubbock. Celebration of Life Services will be at 2 p.m., Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at White Memorial Chapel in Lubbock, with Rev. Jim Brown officiating. Interment will follow at City of Lubbock cemetery.

Roy James "RJ" O'Hair
Roy James "RJ" O'Hair, 81, passed away on early Easter Morning, March 23, 2008. RJ was born on November 1, 1926, in Quanah, Texas. He graduated from Lubbock High School in 1943 and served his country during World War II as a member of our greatest generation. He married
Kathryn Millsap March 2, 1946, in Clovis, New Mexico.
He is survived by his wife, Kathryn; his children, Shelia, Marc, Toni and Brant; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Celebration of Life Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in Westminster Presbyterian Church. His family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7 p.m. today at Rix Funeral Directors.
